    We kind of baby sat my brother-in-laws pet turkey while we found him a new home after my BIL house burned down. We have a 6 ft fence around our yard but everyone in the neighborhood could hear him. It was hilarious hearing all the turkey hunters for 3 blocks calling him. Most of the time he didnt respond. He got to be an old pet because he was smart. 😊

    When we study sound in class I usually bring in my turkey calls to illustrate the idea of vibration and how the sounds are formed. It's pretty funny to see a kid use a call for the first time. It might be nice if I build a few of my own so I'm not worried about them breaking the ones I paid for! Thanks for what you do!

    nice box call .my only problem with box calls and slate or glass is the humidity in the mornings or just dampness would make them not sound good they sound great in your living room when its dry . the mouth call was my go to if you can master that its a winner .

    Great video! I love the idea of making your own call. How do you go about tuning it? I’m guessing it’s just sanding in inside of the pocket (making the walls thinner), sanding the lip of the box and or the top underside where it meets the box lip?I noticed one side didn’t sound as good. What I mean by that is the push stroke sounded different from the pull stroke. Is this pretty normal?

    • @Pale-Horse-Outdoors
      @Pale-Horse-Outdoors  Месяц назад

      Yes. Each side will need to be tuned. And you're right, you tune by sanding the walls, rounding the edges and with the screw.

I use it mid day when I want to strike something and its killed a many a lonely longbeards. Id be interested to see how different finishes compare
