  • Grow your woodworking business with "smalls"! Ready for the latest trends??? Let's break down some more builds!
Often, smaller items are looked over by new builders looking to make a name for themselves because they are looking for "that one build" that they can sell for a ton of money. They aren't considering the cost of the build and the time spent making it. Ultimately any business comes down to profit margins. I'll give you a few examples of how selling items that anyone can afford can generate crazy sales with minimal cost of goods sold!
Sometimes we overthink things when the most profitable items we are looking past. Let's change that.

"They didn't have to do anything with the bark cuz that's what's on half the 2x4s you fine anymore" 😂 how true! You have to dig through the pile for 15 minutes getting slivers trying to find a straight one.

Hey Matthew, I just want to say thank you for all your videos. It feels like your channel is the only one that is really aimed at true beginners trying to make something happen with woodworking, without having all the fancy tools. Your videos have inspired me to try to make things, and feel a little more confident that I can actually make stuff that people will want to buy. Especially since I try to use pallet wood since I don’t have much money to buy real lumber with, using my mind to be creative about smalls that I can make utilizing the natural worn look of the wood, instead of the other pallet woodworkers who just throw all their pallets through a jointer and planer (which I don’t have) to make them perfect. I love your channel. Thank you again!

I made a lot of those measurent boards when i was doing art & craft shows. The hash marks and numbers were all routered. I made a full 6' jig and i could route the full board board in about 6-7 minutes. I got $35-$50 for them (more at the bigger shows in Louisville area, lesser in the BG Owensboro area). They were pretty good sellers.

Sorry had to toss the idea out there too. Your remote holder- Make it a little larger and cut overall cost by making most the large side out of poultry fence. Basically the same build just a little tweaking to it. Then you have your Rustic Silverware & Napkin holder for a center piece. 👊

On the coat rack you could put blocks for the legs to screw into. Cut the block with the desired angle. Stick a threaded insert into them and now the rack can be flat packed.

Yea, it's a couple weeks before Xmas and I just started woodworking almost a year ago.
And.... besides my full time job I have 2 cutting boards and shelves that I have somehow been talked into making for family members lol...I feel used...😮😂

Thanks Matthew! I'm still working on getting my shop's electrical problems repaired (ABOVE CODE,, I'm picky!) I use your videos as inspiration to keep on working and sooner or later I'll smell sawdust again!!
Put a hanging hook in the bottom of that brace to hang plants from it. It'll sell!

I’ve had good success with a number of your projects Matt and have made $$ on them all. I found your plans very easy to work with and clearly illustrated.
However this one I’m not too sure about.
I looked on Amazon and found numerous coat racks that are very similar for $22-$45. The most expensive was $125 and that was very elaborate with a big hand carved looking base. Don’t think I’ll be trying this one but thanks for posting.

Nice video Matt. I’ve watched a lot, not much on commenting but you really have great content. Keep rolling and putting it out. Happy New Year to you and yours.

Another great video and thanks for giving us a starting price to sell them for. For some of us that is the hardest part.

if the items instantly sell out then they were too cheap. next batch you increase the price.

Have you done a video on where and how you sell your items? I think a lot of us would love to see your booth setup for a craft fair if thats something you do. Either way, your chanel is my goto source for project ideas and you are more appreciated than you know. Seeya

One of your favorite wood to use is fence pickets. In my local market can find cedar and pressure treated. Would you use the PT?
