      Could you also do a beginners intro to woodworking Playlist? For example, PPE, beginners tools, how to read a ruler, and how to make a box...ect. Things you'd teach young children. I try to show my kids these concepts, but in the Era of RUclips, they don't retain the info unless they can pause, rewind, and rewatch a video while they practice.

    How did you attach those bottom slats to the side slats that are only 0.25" thick?

  • @jankersten4543
    @jankersten4543 Год назад +6

    Hey Matt the second type of crate can be simple improved to be stackable. Just put one strip less on the bottom and let the corners stick a bit out of the bottom. Therefore you get some space on the top end where the protruding corners at the bottom can nicely fit in. If you have multiple crates you can stack them securly.
    Sorry if i can't describe it right in english, but i believe you can figure out what i am trying to explain...

    FYI- I have made these before. I went to Lowes, HD, Menards and collected the wooden slats they place between stacks of wood (separators). They are usually found broken or on the floor and such. But it saves you having to buy lumber and mill it down. I also used pallet wood for the slats in the bottom to make the crates a little more sturdy

    I wanted crates for a vendor booth, love the look and stability, and they cost too much for what/how they were made. One set had the brad nails through the boards and inner corners and still stuck out about 1/4 inch. So thanks to this and a few other videos I planned out my own and for much cheaper. Thanks for the tips and breakdowns.

  • @Vikingwerk
    @Vikingwerk Год назад

    I can see how you could slightly modify the design on your second model to make them interlock when stacked upright. You would have to invert the slat/space pattern on the bottom, and offset the side slats about 1/4” upwards, so the corner posts stuck out the bottom, and were shy of the top.
    With that layout, the corner posts act as feet, and also nest into the next crate down if you stack them.
    I’ll give it a try, I’ve been working on a design in my head for stacking garden crates, to cary seed starter pots in, and your design us way more economical than what I had planned!
