This is an incredibly detailed video. I attempted to share my shipping policy in a video and it fell far short. I am going to lead my audience to this video to fill in the areas I missed. Thanks for being on top of things Chris.
Great video! Thanks! Also, I have been a member of the Facebook group since the beginning of the month and have already upped my game greatly. Pretty much just a lurker but learning tons.
This was a great video because the hardest thing to do is to hit that magic number of $25 and above. There are some items that you can hit that with but most items are under that amount. Many try doing bundles but you said it is hard to find that person that wants those specific items in that bundle it's easier to do combined shipping. So a video like this is crazy helpful.
FINALLY this is explained, and SO well. I've been trying to figure this out forever. SO true that 'Business Policies' page can become a massive jungle of a mess. Tutorials like this are SO needed. MUCHOS gracias!!!
How easy would it be for ebay to use some of the money that they charge on their already high fees to put in an option like this "click here if you would like to offer combined shipping on similar items" then a drop down menu is created with options like "how much would you like to charge for every additional item". Instead of having to search for a nearly 30 youtube video on how to do this.
You guys this video is great!! Thank you for showing the step by step process of all this!! I never knew any of it! After the many years I did sell on there here and there. Thank you all again!
I started trying with the shipping rules a few years ago and couldn't get it to work out so I then gave up and just manually doing it. This will now save me so much time. I typically just do Global Shipping now because it gets rid of me worrying if they got it or not.
I'm moving to free shipping, because I listened to my mum (a frequent buyer) and she says she's more likely to buy an item with free shipping than one where shipping is extra, even if the free shipping item is slightly more expensive. I also listened to her complaint about sellers sending her DVDs in a card mailer. She prefers them to be sent in bubble mailers. I immediately changed to bubble mailers and have since received lots more feedback praising my mailers.
Bubble mailers are stupid expensive and the bubbles are so small they are not that effective unless double/triple layered. I would just get poly bags and your own bubble wrap for more versatile + better padding and cheaper mailing, but that's just me
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I've been trying to figure out combined shipping for days. After setting up the shipping discount, I wasn't going back to the business policies and checking the checkbox.
Hi, Chris I love this video. I am learning so much. Can you please do a video how to send an invoice. I have been an Ebay for 2 years an still dont know how to do it.
Thank you sooooo much for this, it helped me create a combined shipping and return policy, had no idea how to do it.... hopefully it helps pick up $ale$!!!
I'm so confused now. I may have messed up my shipping costs. Now when I go to revise an item it gives me the policies and does not allow me to adjust the weights or change to free shipping
I don't believe you addressed calculated shipping. It looks as though the only walk through scenario given was with a (flat: same cost to all buyers). I learned a TON from watching :) BUT I specifically offer calculated shipping. I did access the correct screen to select calculated and I chose (combine weight) which will give my buyers a discount (along with a better shipping rate instead of x amount per item) I know lots of sellers choose calculated shipping vs flat:same cost to all buyers) It is set up differently when going through that route. I never had this set up and just had customers reach out to bundle and I would send them an invoice with adjusted shipping after purchase, then they pay after the invoice is sent. :) Lots of learning through that process though! lol Thanks for the video! SUPER information and definitely gets into that nitty gritty we all can learn from on Ebay's mammoth interface. :)
if im doing calculated shipping can i still do like $1.99 for each item added? i cant seem to figure out how to do that, or is that only for the flat rate people?
Hey Chris I know this is an old video but if you find this question that would be great. I’m selling sports cards, I can only fit let’s say 6 cards in one envelope. So if I want the customer to pay full price shipping after 6 cards, is there a way to limit the combined shipping to only 6. So 6 cards $0.87 shipping plus $0.10 for 5 more then it will have to be a new envelope with .87 shipping cost
Great video. I am setting up a sports card store. I want to have: 1 card $1.05 2-3 cards add $1.05 4+ cards $4.20 shipping. Regardless of what cards they buy in that posting. Is there a way to setup rules based on total quantity ordered? (Not just initial and second item)
Wait 4 days, cancel stating they didn't pay, relist, move on with your life. I give my buyers about 7 days to pay, then contact them. If I get no response after another day I cancel and relist. It really doesn't bother me. I don't consider a sale a sale until it's paid for and sent off.
Incredibly helpful. I've been doing it wrong for years. Curious how this works with the Shipping Discount under the promotions tab - do they work together or do you prioritize this over the promotion?
I just use free shipping on all items. Less headache and i rank higher than those who charge for shipping. 10$ free shipping vs 6+4$ shipping is same thing end of day except i rank higher than the person charging for shipping. It differs though as some people sell heavy bulky items in which it makes sense to charge for shipping as locate can drastically influence price of shipping vs someone shipping mostly first class/media mail
Thanks I was able to enable COMBINED SHIPPING option for sellers. However, because we offer buy more than 1-many discounts, when a friend went to verify COMBINED SHIPPING option, it had a 'i' info comment , when expanded it said, "You can't request combined shipping because the seller has already offered a discount for a these items." I would like to offer both item price discounts and COMBINED SHIPPING. Thoughts?/Suggestions? Thanks
this video is alot to take in for a newbie. I got lost in the beginning......parts of it was just too fast. I had no idea clicking as i was watching and trying to understand, this would immediately change my shipping policy! I'm SOOO lost now and cannot list until i call ebay for direction on how to straighten this out. I wish there would have been a pause, or more of a warning for new sellers trying to understand shipping......
if all my listings are “buy it now” items would I still be able to apply these settings? like using the flat rate setting in preferences and then also applying it in my business policies?
I have gotten this a few times. It's especially annoying when you accept an offer and then they don't pay. After a few days, eBay lets you cancel the sale without consequences. It's super annoying. Don't focus on it and keep moving forward.
I send international using older new postage stamps like stamps from 1980s/90s. Its at my risk but have very few problems. This works well on smalls as you can buy new postage stamps from decades past at cheaper than face. Post office will deduct these from your tracking cost. Unused postage stamps never expire until canceled.
Hey All - I sell varied, usually unrelated items. I have now set up the policy to combine payments. As far as me combining the shipping, can I just put all the items in another box, together, recalculate the shipping cost, and then let the customer know this new combined shipping cost?....instead of me having to go thru all of the steps of setting up new Business / Shipping Policies (Like, foe example, in the video where it showed combining shirts with shoes, creating "additional item" costs, etc? - Thx! 😁

Great Video, is there something in Ebay that tells the buyer this (apart from on the postage tab)? Hi all, I have a question you all may understand. If I have a shipping rule that involves first class and priority shipping options will ebay still let a buyer choose first class even if the item weight specs are above first-class maximum weight? My concern is after I apply this rule customers can select first class for items that don't qualify for that shipping method.
I hate how clunky eBay's system is for multiple orders when you have immediate payment on. I just tell people to pay it all in full and I refund excess shipping. About 75% of people are cool with it, the rest ghost me. And I'm ok with that.

Michelle & Isiah are da bomb. Thanks for arranging this, Chris.
This was so helpful. Love the tutorial videos with step by step instructions/ screen shares :) Thank you :)

This was very helpful, thank you so much, I wanted to do combined shipping but had no idea how to set it up
Hello Chris thanks for the conversation and important tips.
I’ve been wondering how to do this, thank you
Perfect timing! Was trying to figure it out yesterday! 😂

it's just for flat rate shipping unfortunately
@@greasygerbil ok thank you for the help !
When I select "Apply my flat shipping rule", I am not given the ability to select the rule I created.
I want my shipping back to the way it was before watching this video. I don't have any automatic shipping recommended. What happened
very helpful, thank you
Yes please more like this! Very helpful 👍🏼
EXTREMELY Helpful. Thank you very much.
Does the combined amount that you set in postage preferences work across different postage policies?
Great video!

Dear Chris!
Hi. How should I deal with eBay buyers who purchases an item, but the don't pay for it?
Best,
Sami.

More differences. I get a return, I return their purchase cost, not shipping. Only $6 not $10.

Why the hell is it so hard to allow combined shipping??? I can't figure it out
Do I have to put my shipping rules/combined discount in each item description or will it automatically show the buyer?
