I never reply to people asking for measurements. I supply a chest and length in the listing and anything more than that the buyer is going to be way too picky and too likely to return the item. Call up a department store and ask for them to measure a garment and get laughed at.

    • @GunSlingerClyde

To each their own. What if you supplying the measurements/answering those questions boosted your sales? 1% rise is sales cost is worth it to me everytime. Those 1% add up

Agreed. I just reply back "measurements are in the photos and item specifics" and call it a day. I don't have the time to pull something from inventory every time someone asks me to measure something. That's just more time I can list or source more items.

I have some motorcycle jackets that I have listed. I have measurements on my listings but this customer had a very specific measurement they needed to make a buying decision. If I didn't give them the measurement they wouldn't have purchased it. Now the jacket was $90 so it was defiantly worth it. But my inventory is in my storage which is about 5 mins away. So it is not practical to run to the storage in the middle of dinner to get a measurement. You have to do what works best for you while at the same time keeping good customer relations.

I almost never give a refund and let them keep the item. There are so many people out there who do that intentionally, all the time, in hopes of getting free stuff and/or a partial refund. If they want their money back then you bet your ass they will be shipping the item back to me. Unless the item gets damaged in transit then usually it's the buyer's decision to return the item. In other words, it's usually not the sellers fault, so why should I suffer and lose out on money because of a picky customer?

I subscribed to your RUclips channel. Great advice and pointers. I have a question. I am not large, still small selling, trying to find my niche. I see you offer returns. I don't make that much on items and feel that returns cut into my profit or may exceed my profit. Say I am making only 10$ profit after fees and cost and the item is $9, 10 or more dollars to return. Do you have any suggestions on this. Shipping costs are so high now. My buyer pays the shipping for the product originally, plus the product and tax. Should I offer returns? Can I offer returns, but buyer pays shipping back. At the moment I have no refund policy, but if a product is damaged, not as described due to my error. I refund automatically. If it is an expensive item. I will require to be sent back before refund is issued. If it isn't worth the cost to ship back, I just refund with no return shipping. I could use any advice on this issue.

How important is a html listing template? I ask because I can see other sellers in different categories who just have text descriptions with a couple of emojis and they're selling a tonne of items every month. I know a template looks more professional but when I look at my template, I feel like my brand logo and the layout just takes up a lot of space vs just having a simple text layout.
I sell on etsy too and a few other platforms and we can only use text and sellers don't have a problem selling items on those sites.

I only use free shipping on items I know will be the same price for just about anyone in the US that orders that item. Media Mail is one area and First Class is another. So Books CDs Movies and items lighter then a pound work well for building the cost of shipping into the final sale price. I also check to see if customers are use to getting free shipping on that item. If you are on the seller hub ebay now puts that info in the shipping section. If 90% of that item is offered with free shipping then I build it into the price. If not I do calculated shipping.

This video made me laugh, and not in a good way.
A listing takes me forever. One of the reasons is I always take great pains to answer every item question, and in some categories that takes some research. I get the gripes emails from EBay saying 'this item has four unanswered item questions, and that item has six. Buyers want to know this information.' And so I waste time- does California Proposition 65 apply to this vase? What's the MPN number for this AC adapter? Hey, EBay says it's important to buyers.
Then this morning Chris tells me not only do buyers not care if I answer every question- by doing so, I could actually be hiding my item from buyer's search results.
    Bitter laugh.

      depends on the category

@@dailyrefinement wait are you saying that top rated seller plus applies to the individual item? So someone like me who is currently an everything seller, can have top rated plus on some things and not others?

I’m doing the hundred item challenge and I just sold a hat for $64!! Wow!
I find myself being impatient though and dropping my prices on things quickly instead of waiting a week or so.

You're not alone. If I ever feel like I haven't been selling much lately I will go through all of my items and either send out low offers or just lower the price outright. Sometimes (most times) I feel like I moved too fast and it would have sold for a higher price if I was more patient. To be honest, I don't think I'll ever stop doing that.

      I just need to interject.
When I purchase my items to add to my inventory, I Absolutely do Not wish them Back!!! I think that I have only ever given Full Refund one time and gotten item back on Posh, it was a pair of children's shoes and somehow I misread the size label, and they just wouldn't work...So, That was on Me, The Mom was Very Kind and Understanding, so, I had No hesitation to full Refund and to accept item back....
Now, in the few other items disputed on Ebay, I did Immediate PARTIAL refund, of the Shipping fees, Not One item sent back, and, No Refusals on receiving Only their Ship cost refunded...Bam...
      Done and Done....quick and simple

Totally agree on the requirement to return the item before a refund is issued. I'm not into giving things away for free. And customers will take advantage of that if you allow them to keep the item. Not all of them of course but enough to piss me off. My girlfriend does it to temu and alli Express. And it makes me so mad. She totally takes advantage of these companies. I know they are huge and it probably doesn't hurt them much but it's the principle of the thing. I just won't do that. But she showed me how some people think. Sickening really v
