@dbilly121 most likely not, but I'm doubtful Joffrey would have come up with it on his own, and there were already talks about having her killed very early on the show
Funny enough, I agree with this thinking. And plays into each of their personalities and goals post-Robert's death. Maergery to Robert, Stannis revealing the incest babies, and what not.
Im not sure the brothers particularly liked Ned though. They respected him maybe, but probably resented that the King liked Ned more than his own brothers. I'm not sure they really spent any time with Ned like Robert did.
Tbh, I agree, if Jaime killed Ned with Robert still alive, Robert would be out for BLOOD. The Lannister's would definitely be fighting the full might of the crown cuz Robert would not take his best friend's death lightly. No amount of begging or threats would stop Robert from (at least trying) to kill Jaime. The War of the Five Kings would probably just be the Lannisters vs the North and the Crown. Also, I fully believe that Katelyn would feel incredibly guilty, thinking she got her husband killed by doing what she did.
@ I truly don’t think the Tyrell’s would completely back renly it wouldn’t make sense they would probably wait for there opportunities like they always do and again the crown and by extension the storm lands don’t have much money especially not enough for war if the Lannisters sell there debts to the iron bank there will be even more pressure on Robert

Whether by a truth reveal or just Margery replacing her altogether that women has no options. The Lannisters have money but so do the Tyrells. They could get in good with Robert through their gold purse. The Lannisters would be scorched earth without pause if this scenario happened.
I think there is a non zero chance that Ned's death would have a sobering effect on Bobby B. We met him at his lowest, devastated by Jon Arryn's death. Ned's death could of course push him even further down that path, but I like to imagine something else happening. With the war against the Lannisters, Robert for the first time since the Greyjoy rebellion has a purpose and a reason to keep going. I personally can't think of anything better than Bobby B's training montage with Rocky's soundtrack playing in the background. The Great Stag would roam the realm once more.
Robb would now be the official head of House Stark, whether made King or not, and that's one less bargaining chip the Lannisters have, right off the start. Tyrion explained it best... killing Ned essentially took away a large portion of negotiating power. Sansa and Arya are still in their grasp, but Ned getting killed off, means Tyrion may end up getting killed and stuff only escalates from there Basically, it's a War of Atrocities. Blood gets spilled, and its over in Westeros. 😅
If Catelyn were to try and shame Jon during Ned's death, I hope Robb and Arya would shut that down quickly and severely. I imagine they had wanted to defend him so many times and now with Robb being head of House Stark, I hope he would now bare his teeth and shut her up.
To branch off this one: What if Jaime takes Ned prisoner and hauls him all the way to the Westerlands? He literally says "Take him alive, kill his men.", but doesn't take him prisoner.
Perhaps Robert would honor Ned's final wish regarding Danny, but probably not. I think a what-if where Catelyn and Tyrion completely miss each other on the Kingsroad would be fun. If Tyrion had just decided to keep moving instead of going into the inn, we'd have a completely different outcome.
What if Catelyn uses a brain cell and doesn't fire up the inn against Tyrion, but rather uses her "armor" of courtesies to stealth-question him. This would give Tyrion the chance to share with her the happy news of Bran's awakening, and his gift of plans for a special saddle. This gives Catelyn pause; could Tyrion really be guilty of trying to assassinate Bran if he's also trying to help the boy live a more full life despite his disability? So she continues stealth-questioning Tyrion, and learns that Tyrion lost money by betting on Jaimie to defeat the Knight of Flowers rather than acquiring a pricy Valyrian steel dagger. This makes her even more uncertain of Baelish, with the result that instead of starting an open war with House Lannister, she does as Ned instructed her and continues to Winterfell to relay his orders to Robb. Oh, and she sends a discreet message to Ned letting him know that Baelish's loyalty is doubtful, and that he shouldn't rely too heavily on it. This is information that could save his life.
What if Robert captured and married Queen Rhaella Targaryen to strengthen his claim to the throne I think it would be interesting as we know how horrible the king was to her and what might happen if Robert sees how traumatic it was for her and honestly it can’t be worse then either of their original marriages (in cannon). It also struck me weird as trying to kill all of them would technically make him a king slayer as him and the Targaryens share blood.
I don't know how sympathetic Robert would be to Rhaella, given how he himself treats his wife. His hatred of the Targaryens blinded him to their suffering. He forgave Tywin and Gregor Elia's children, and was willing to take out Viserys and Dany, even when the two very very young. If anything, Robert would treat Rhaella worse than Cersei. I don't think that kinslaying goes that far back. Besides, Robert did not really consider himself a Targaryen, nor did anyone else. It was just a legal excuse made up for him to officially claim the throne, not something to be read into.
I think Cersei won't get the opportunity. Aside from Robert not wanting to be around her because she'll try to defend Jaime's murder as justified, as soon as Tywin defies Robert, he's a traitor to the realm. Which means Robert can request that the high septon annuls their marriage, since she is now tainted by her father's treason. And of course, Stannis might know what Jon Arryn knows, and reveals it now that Lannister treachery is out in the open. And Cersei is herself liable to say something stupid to Robert, who is not above wrapping his hands around her throat and strangling her himself for talking about his best friend. If Cersei is the Lannister's only chance to kill Robert, they're in deep trouble. Even if they succeed, it just means Stannis takes over. And he'll have Cersei burned at a stake in short order, along with her children for being the product of incest.
What if Stannis became King and married Cersei? Robert succumbed to his injuries after the Battle of the trident and died, making Stannis King and marrying Cersei. What if Robert had Stannis be Hand instead of Jon Arryn? What if *Part Two* to Robb & Myrcella? What if Jaime saved Elia Martell & the children? What if Balon Greyjoy join Robb Stark? What if Gerold Hightower or Varys kill The Mad King while Jamie was at the Tower Of Joy? What if Ned won agents Jaime at the Tower Of Joy? What if Rhaelle Baratheon, the grandmother of Robert, Stannis & Renly was still alive during Robert’s Rebellion? What if Robert Baratheon has a Trueborn daughter by Cersei Lannister? What if the *Cordyceps* from *The Last Of Us* was in Westeros?
Lannisters stay in power. Tywin remains as Hand raising Tommen to be a good king. Cersei's shipped off to highgarden. Sansa is probably wed to Lancel. Without Tyrion around to hold her back, Dany would attack King's Landing right away.
What if Bobby B pulled an Aegon the Unworthy on his deathbed and legitimized all his bastards? Edric and Mya being ones he would most likely know about.
At min 23, you said that Stannis knew that Robert's kids are bastards. Then, I believe that they will also connect the puzzle on how suddenly Jon Arryn died knowing what he knew. This might multiply Robert's rage. His father and brother (figuratively) both killed by Lannisters.
what if ned accepted renly's offer to strike while the castle sleeps? or, what if renly did it without ned's permission? honestly, i think ned was convinced that stannis would have been a bad king. it was only when renly slipped that he wanted the crown, that ned changed his mind.
I feel that if Tywin doesnt give over Jamie then the Greyjoys might actually attack Lannisport in the hopes any of their more atrocious acts are ignored or swept aside especially if they get in and get out quick enough that they could just refuse it saying the Lannister are trying to use their previous rebellion as a means to survive the kings justice
I could see Robert now feel responsible for Ned's children in this timeline, he may want to keep the Stark daughters in Kings Landing or at least Sansa, and fast track her marriage to Joffery.
I see a lot of people saying Robert would be out for blood, and I agree, but I feel like they forget about Cersei and Joffrey. If Jaime killed Ned and ran off, Robert would want him dead 100%. What would Cersei want to do in this scenario? Literally the exact same thing she did in the story: Kill him. The heir to the Iron Throne is half Lannister.
Yes but if it was revealed that Cersei was behind the death of the King I don't think Stannis and Renly would fight among themselves. I know they don't love each other but to avenge their brother I think they would unite
Was listening to Feast of Crows the other day and had the thought what if the Blackfish Brynden Tully was sent to the Wall when Jamie is settling the Riverlands?
