I have a 8ton bottle jack. I highly suggest using pavers underneath the pool legs. I originally made .080 aluminum plates for under the stock feet. Prob is that the curve right off the aluminum and sunk into mud past the sand I had too. Since I had to lift the pool 2 inches up each leg. It was very scary not to damage the pool and not to have it blown out with 4500 gallons of water. Using the jack with a piece of 2 inch wood and a "u" type bar to push up the poles. Stay as close to the poles moving upward. Any angle can cause the jack to buckle and pop out. It happened once on the 15 poles. Once the poles are in the air, check for alignment and try to keep them vertical. A little tilt inwards is ok by the intex company for use. Just be very careful if your doing this. If you need to raise up 2 inches or more (hope not), I went in increments with a 1 inch block, reset the jack, repumped to 2 inches. Sad thing is Intex failed to give a proper diameter of the pool causing my sand/rock areas to be off. I did use 2 inches of sand with the suggested tarp over the sand for the pool liner to last. Poles location was on the edge of the sand and rock, not good...pavers saved the day for $25.
We forgot to use the pavers when setting up & now the pool is leaning!! UGH, after all the work setting up!!! We definitely will try this, thanks for the idea and video!!
If I may add, Jeff, when you all use the pavers, make sure they are not touching the pool liner ! When people are swimming/playing, it'll cause friction against them and wear a hole in your liner, do be sure to leave clearance.
Make sure you all are not putting the legs on the tarp. It will not hold. Legs on pavers! Go with 12x12. Maybe you can set them up and center them best you can for even weight distribution. I am not a professional knucklehead. I am learning as well. Take your time, go slow check and double check. The check again after these wonderful pools we hardly knpw anything about settle again and again. I count this part of the pool maintenance. Best of Luck The Head Knucklehead in charge

I'm having an issue with my Intex ultra the side that we really had to dig on to make it more level well let's just say it ended up raining right after we filled it up and now the legs have went down on one side a few inches. I was in the process of making something like he was using on his pool but mine does not look like that mine. Mine is the dark gray poles they're not metal and the liner on the outside is also a light gray whenever does they make it look like a really dark gray it doesn't look like I have as much room as the guy does in this video. Any suggestions for a 16x46 Intex ultra

I've got a leaning issue, from recent rain. I didn't use a paver, but now I'm going to install pavers under all of my 16 posts. I've drained my pool, though, because I'm REALLY paranoid about things buckling (the pool was expensive, like they all are). This method is a good one, but I will err on the side of caution and drain the pool, put in the pavers, then refill. Just use a big level and make sure that each pole is completely straight and level with the other poles. I set my big leveler on top of each pole and go around the entire pool until it's all level. My pool was perfectly level before the rain. I'm kicking myself now, because I should've used pavers. LOL

If you are on a slope you need to level it out in the direction it's leaning. Make your legs are sitting on thE PAVERS! NOT ON THE TARP! Leveling takes a while. Go slow and check that everything is level.arouns the top ring and the legs. 90° for the legs as best you can. Good luck! The Head Knucklehead! Peter
I did exactly what you did minus the strap which I will try tonight. Last night we got a little nervous and halted progress due to hearing popping noises that weren't the jack. Can you tell me what that may have been? We didn't notice anything bent or seams ripping.

Quick question. What about the dirt underneath? Can the steel structure hold all of thay weight w/o dirt being placed underneath to help with the load?
Just be careful a 16ft pool will weigh roughly 21 tons. Granted you are not lifting that much weight but the frame is not meant to support weight while being elevated.
So my pool is obviously off and my bf doesn't want me doing anything to grass since we rent. When I filled it I was nervous and I did buy wood to put under each leg so I wouldn't have sinking and alot people on this intex group I joined said it would be okay but I want to do something. Im going to look into renting a car jack wondering what the height and width are on them boards your using to push pool up are?
My friend had a 12 pack and thought it would be a great idea to level his 22ft x 52 pool. Put a floor jack and 2x4 under the rail. Went to far, board slipped and split the liner. Dumbass went for about a 20ft swim across the yard 😂😂🤦♂️🤦♂️ His wife chewed his azz out! 🤣🤣🤣

Hello I dont have the same kind of pool I have a summer waves elite 16X48 . It's been hard finding a level spot my whole yard is pretty much unleved and that's why I've been sceptical about putting a on top of ground pool. But my kids really wanted one so I thought I'd give it a shot. I don't know the first thing when it comes to to leveling a yard neither do I have the money. But as the pool kept filling i realized it was almost 5inches off! And I'm so worried I will have to waste all that water. I haven't been able to let my kids swim in until I come up with a solution. But I really need some helpful advice. I'm concerned if I was to do this do u think the liner would hold with that much pressure trying to jack it up?
I did a version of this and mine held just fine. Its is holding that much pressure anyway the Jack is doing the work. Good Luck and give it a shot just be careful...Also, it will make a lot of funny noises when you start to move it off the ground. Just go slow and steady! Let us know.
We have the same pool. We purchased 2 tons of mason sand to place on the ground, leveled that then placed 1 1/2" insulation foam on top of that, taped together at seams and then covered with tarp then placed pool on top. Makes for a very soft bottom floor, ensures pool is level, and prevents any damage to liner.
I know it is not recommended to be off more than 1 inch, but after I had a couple of feet filled I noticed I was off by 4-1/4". I did put wooden bases under my feet to keep them from sinking. My problem was my yard was just not level and I did not notice in time. Having a bad back and not having any help I decided to keep going. I did use the jacking method described but not to level the pool, but to keep my legs on the low side vertical to earth level, and the side legs also vertical. I do have some leaning in on the high side, but it is very stable. I have been checking daily and after a week it is a stable setup. My ground is very hard so I will hopefully make it thru this summer and level it for next year. I have a Summer Waves 15 x 48, 4200 Gallons. Maybe this will give some of you a little peace of mind. I do have an extensive mechanical design background, and I believe the structure will handle this deviation. If not,I will provide an update.

@@bcrash11 I m not sure...I was just answering the "how long a strap is needed question." I think he is taking a "safe" approach. The vinyl band and pool liner take the stress from the weight of the water...the imbalance may put excessive stress on one side so having the ratchet strap is added support...but might not matter since the pool liner isn't getting extra help. I don't think it hurt anything to put the strap there.
Do they make ratchet straps that big or do you put several together? I'm new at this and a widow so please no laughing at me. I have this same pool and just had to empty it because it was leaning so bad because of the rain we had. I am starting all over and am thinking if i put pavers under each leg on the leaning side before putting down the tarp, hopefully this will correct my problem this time. Any different suggestions?
@@paulagirard2639 I ended up moving my pool to a different spot in my yard and leveling the ground a little...there is only a 2 inch difference in water level now. The result is that none of the column feet are digging into the ground. Ideally, you just want to level the ground and not mess with papers or extra straps. If that's not a choice, consider two things...first, be careful the pool liner is not on sharp corners of papers as that will likely tear through eventually. Second, I ha e a friend with same pool that is out of level by almost 6 incbes...been that way for 3 summers and hasn't broken...doesnt mean it cannot or will not though....and it could be dangerous. the ground under the pool needs to level ,the legs dont hold the pool they support the sides ,but the main pressure is on the bottom of the pool , so straightening the legs are going to cause only more stress on the side lining
Precisely my thoughts! This is going to cause the liner to split or the top poles to bow and collapse. VERY dangerous! I'm currently in the process of draining my newly put up one because it's 3" out, on the seam end of the liner no less 🙄. So it's going to get pulled across around 1.25m and flipped around, so if it is still a bit unlevel, at least it's not at the seam side. But hoisting the legs up to get it level?! I don't even have high school physics and even I know that is a BAD idea!
Doesn’t this put pressure on the bottom of the pool lining. With the post lifted the weight of the water is now weighin on the bottom of the pool, and could cause the seem to break. Yes or no?
Most definitely. When in doubt, drain it out. There's an immense amount of pressure on that liner. Multiply 8 times however many gallons of water is in your pool. Mine's like 50,000 lbs! No way am I jacking it up. I know it sucks but Drain it.
How did the pavers hold up? Ours is 3 inches off in various spots throughout the pool. We are using pavers tomorrow to fix. Curious if it will hold for the summer! Thanks for the video.
I’m so glad I came across this video. We just put the pool up today and it’s unleveled and we really don’t want to drain the pool because we have a 20*54. How have the pavers held out? Have you had any problems? I’m thinking about doing this but I just wanted to make sure it’s going to hold.
You can find the circumference by multiplying Pi or 3.14 by the diameter. So if you have a 20ft pool, it will be 3.14 x 20. If you have a 15ft pool, it will be 3.14 x 15, etc.

I didn't do this. I tried using the jack but couldn't get the flat piece of wood to stay on the jack! And now my pool has completely ripped (the pieces that the side metal pieces go through) So I have to tear the pool down. It is unsalvageable.
I think a series of ratchet straps used together would give you the length you need. I was going to skip this part entirely until I read your comment below so thanks for the warning, sorry to hear about your damage.

I have to level the pool, I'm afraid of this way, it's a new pool and it's very expensive and I don't want to buy it every year, so I decided to empty it halfway, I hope it won't collapse. I have to do something since there is a 10cm difference, and for next year I will better prepare the ground. Has anyone tried this straightening method and that something bad has happened?
Yeah just be aware when the rain comes cuz u r not supposed to take it down roll it up put it back fill it up take it down because the cold weather makes the stretched plastic very very brittle and you will have so many holes youll go nuts trying to find them all and patch them all, so dont take it down. Know where your soggy side when it rains where that is and fill extra dirt in that area or level your yard.
This seems like a pretty simple fix, but one thing I don't understand is, how wouldn't the liner rapture at the seams when lifting the pool up with all the water weight in it? I have a big problem with my pool. Its oval, 26 ft long, and from one end to the other there is a 6" difference in water level. Afraid to lift it up with water in it. Any suggestions?

Thought it was going to come done on me! Now i have a algae problem. Put hth freon green to blue in it. Lets jus say im really scared now@
I know that noise. That creaky noise that sounds like it's all going to come down on you at any moment. That was actually a good idea to did down. Hopefully it works for you
the level of the water doesnt indicate that the bottom is leveled , try to measure from the top to the ground level inside of the pool and you will be surprised , I had the same issue , I did poor ground leveling
I still can't believe that the top railing or the T-Post did not crack or bend. I had my pool site as level and compacted as possible but after adding the first 3 feet of water, the soil really compressed much more than I expected it to and directly at the filter intake, became the highest point of my pool.
Honestly when I was doing it I was extremely afraid of the post cracking on the rachet strap snapping but it worked and because of it working I figured I make a video. I hope this video helps some people and saves people time and money
Man after filling our pool and it rained ours is off bad, about 8" on one end and 3" on the other. We have to try this or end up draining the pool and then trying to level it. Ours is a 24'x52" pool and 2 years old
Wait, do you mean that one end is 8" higher/lower than the other end? That seems like too much. It only takes about 4-5 inches difference on a smaller, round pool to collapse. And that collapse will happen when there's people in it. Your rectangle means you'd have a little leaway but I wouldn't press your luck. I know it sucks, I've done it...it DOES suck but, you should drain that pool.
@@erikalong9965 yeah we have drained it and each time about 30 minutes after draining it we ended up having strong winds that shifted the entire pool. We have tried this method and blocks/pavers, but it is still off. Our pool holds approximately 12,500 gallons at 90% capacity as per manufacturer specs. We got it to come up some, but not enough as it is still off a bit. We got this pool used (about 2 years old) and we just had to buy a new pump and filter for it that is the correct size and HP for the pool. We have a well which is not ideal for filling a pool as it can cause your pump to run constantly and overheat especially in Texas heat even though it is in an enclosure (pump house). I'm weighing our options currently other than draining it .
@@erikalong9965 we used our 20HP tractor just a bit ago to raise and get the low end back up and level. It still doesn't look level as it should be, but because of the ground on one end being off it is fine. We have 6 yards of sand under the low end and blocks. We have it the same level the previous owner had it at for 2 years so I think we are good. This winter we will drain it and then get it all perfectly level and then refill it again and cover it.

Can a scissor jack do the job? And what size wood are you using to lift the pool.
Do not use a scissor jack!
Do you recommend purring a small rope and lashing it to each leg to keep them from kicking outward?

So my pool is obviously off and my bf doesn't want me doing anything to grass since we rent. When I filled it I was nervous and I did buy wood to put under each leg so I wouldn't have sinking and alot people on this intex group I joined said it would be okay but I want to do something. Im going to look into renting a car jack wondering what the height and width are on them boards your using to push pool up are?
Two of my pool legs have bent inwards. Would I need the support straps while I push it out for the pavers. Mine is a 26 x 52.

My friend had a 12 pack and thought it would be a great idea to level his 22ft x 52 pool. Put a floor jack and 2x4 under the rail.
Went to far, board slipped and split the liner. Dumbass went for about a 20ft swim across the yard 😂😂🤦♂️🤦♂️

Hello I dont have the same kind of pool I have a summer waves elite 16X48 . It's been hard finding a level spot my whole yard is pretty much unleved and that's why I've been sceptical about putting a on top of ground pool. But my kids really wanted one so I thought I'd give it a shot. I don't know the first thing when it comes to to leveling a yard neither do I have the money. But as the pool kept filling i realized it was almost 5inches off! And I'm so worried I will have to waste all that water. I haven't been able to let my kids swim in until I come up with a solution. But I really need some helpful advice. I'm concerned if I was to do this do u think the liner would hold with that much pressure trying to jack it up?
I did a version of this and mine held just fine. Its is holding that much pressure anyway the Jack is doing the work. Good Luck and give it a shot just be careful...Also, it will make a lot of funny noises when you start to move it off the ground. Just go slow and steady! Let us know.
Buy some pavers, stones put them around in a circle and level between each one. Presto, and it is that simple.
We have the same pool. We purchased 2 tons of mason sand to place on the ground, leveled that then placed 1 1/2" insulation foam on top of that, taped together at seams and then covered with tarp then placed pool on top. Makes for a very soft bottom floor, ensures pool is level, and prevents any damage to liner.
I know it is not recommended to be off more than 1 inch, but after I had a couple of feet filled I noticed I was off by 4-1/4". I did put wooden bases under my feet to keep them from sinking. My problem was my yard was just not level and I did not notice in time. Having a bad back and not having any help I decided to keep going. I did use the jacking method described but not to level the pool, but to keep my legs on the low side vertical to earth level, and the side legs also vertical. I do have some leaning in on the high side, but it is very stable. I have been checking daily and after a week it is a stable setup. My ground is very hard so I will hopefully make it thru this summer and level it for next year. I have a Summer Waves 15 x 48, 4200 Gallons. Maybe this will give some of you a little peace of mind. I do have an extensive mechanical design background, and I believe the structure will handle this deviation. If not,I will provide an update.

A 16ft diameter pool has a circumference of about 50.25 feet...you need at least 53 foot ratchet strap.

I think he is taking a "safe" approach. The vinyl band and pool liner take the stress from the weight of the water...the imbalance may put excessive stress on one side so having the ratchet strap is added support...but might not matter since the pool liner isn't getting extra help. I don't think it hurt anything to put the strap there.
Do they make ratchet straps that big or do you put several together? I'm new at this and a widow so please no laughing at me. I have this same pool and just had to empty it because it was leaning so bad because of the rain we had. I am starting all over and am thinking if i put pavers under each leg on the leaning side before putting down the tarp, hopefully this will correct my problem this time. Any different suggestions?

I ended up moving my pool to a different spot in my yard and leveling the ground a little...there is only a 2 inch difference in water level now. The result is that none of the column feet are digging into the ground. Ideally, you just want to level the ground and not mess with papers or extra straps. If that's not a choice, consider two things...first, be careful the pool liner is not on sharp corners of papers as that will likely tear through eventually. Second, I ha e a friend with same pool that is out of level by almost 6 incbes...been that way for 3 summers and hasn't broken...doesnt mean it cannot or will not though....and it could be dangerous. the ground under the pool needs to level ,the legs dont hold the pool they support the sides ,but the main pressure is on the bottom of the pool , so straightening the legs are going to cause only more stress on the side lining
Precisely my thoughts! This is going to cause the liner to split or the top poles to bow and collapse. VERY dangerous! I'm currently in the process of draining my newly put up one because it's 3" out, on the seam end of the liner no less 🙄. So it's going to get pulled across around 1.25m and flipped around, so if it is still a bit unlevel, at least it's not at the seam side. But hoisting the legs up to get it level?! I don't even have high school physics and even I know that is a BAD idea!
Do you leave the ratchet strap on it or take it off after you fix it?
I left mine on all year last year looks kinda crappy but the legs wanted to push out when I tried to loosen it
The legs flexing out at the bottom is not a bad thing. It would be bad if they were tucked under the top frame.

I didnt. I just set it on the jack and started cranking it up.

Doesn’t this put pressure on the bottom of the pool lining. With the post lifted the weight of the water is now weighin on the bottom of the pool, and could cause the seem to break. Yes or no?
Most definitely. When in doubt, drain it out. There's an immense amount of pressure on that liner. Multiply 8 times however many gallons of water is in your pool. Mine's like 50,000 lbs! No way am I jacking it up. I know it sucks but Drain it.

If its a 16' pool, diameter is 51ish. So a 55' strap would work.
How did the pavers hold up? Ours is 3 inches off in various spots throughout the pool. We are using pavers tomorrow to fix. Curious if it will hold for the summer! Thanks for the video.

I’m so glad I came across this video. We just put the pool up today and it’s unleveled and we really don’t want to drain the pool because we have a 20*54. How have the pavers held out? Have you had any problems? I’m thinking about doing this but I just wanted to make sure it’s going to hold.

Was ur pool full of water or did u drain some of it first? Also what size strap did u use to go around the legs?
You can find the circumference by multiplying Pi or 3.14 by the diameter.
So if you have a 20ft pool, it will be 3.14 x 20. If you have a 15ft pool, it will be 3.14 x 15, etc.
LeAnn Cartee it was full of water and I got straps but forgot to use them but everything went good. My pool is still good to go.

I didn't do this. I tried using the jack but couldn't get the flat piece of wood to stay on the jack! And now my pool has completely ripped (the pieces that the side metal pieces go through) So I have to tear the pool down. It is unsalvageable.
I think a series of ratchet straps used together would give you the length you need. I was going to skip this part entirely until I read your comment below so thanks for the warning, sorry to hear about your damage.

Circumference is Pi times diameter.

I have to level the pool, I'm afraid of this way, it's a new pool and it's very expensive and I don't want to buy it every year, so I decided to empty it halfway, I hope it won't collapse. I have to do something since there is a 10cm difference, and for next year I will better prepare the ground. Has anyone tried this straightening method and that something bad has happened?
Would jacking the pool up like that not possibly cause the liner to rip. You are essential lifting the frame and liner with all that water weight

I bought some flat rectangular pavers about an inch and half thick. After putting them under legs, they all broke in half. Buy thick pavers....
How does it not pop pool if it leans on it
Yeah just be aware when the rain comes cuz u r not supposed to take it down roll it up put it back fill it up take it down because the cold weather makes the stretched plastic very very brittle and you will have so many holes youll go nuts trying to find them all and patch them all, so dont take it down. Know where your soggy side when it rains where that is and fill extra dirt in that area or level your yard.

This seems like a pretty simple fix, but one thing I don't understand is, how wouldn't the liner rapture at the seams when lifting the pool up with all the water weight in it? I have a big problem with my pool. Its oval, 26 ft long, and from one end to the other there is a 6" difference in water level. Afraid to lift it up with water in it. Any suggestions?

Yes it worked. Just be careful and make sure you use the rachet straps. This saved me alot of time and money.

the level of the water doesnt indicate that the bottom is leveled , try to measure from the top to the ground level inside of the pool and you will be surprised , I had the same issue , I did poor ground leveling

I still can't believe that the top railing or the T-Post did not crack or bend. I had my pool site as level and compacted as possible but after adding the first 3 feet of water, the soil really compressed much more than I expected it to and directly at the filter intake, became the highest point of my pool.
Honestly when I was doing it I was extremely afraid of the post cracking on the rachet strap snapping but it worked and because of it working I figured I make a video. I hope this video helps some people and saves people time and money

Man after filling our pool and it rained ours is off bad, about 8" on one end and 3" on the other. We have to try this or end up draining the pool and then trying to level it. Ours is a 24'x52" pool and 2 years old
Wait, do you mean that one end is 8" higher/lower than the other end? That seems like too much. It only takes about 4-5 inches difference on a smaller, round pool to collapse. And that collapse will happen when there's people in it. Your rectangle means you'd have a little leaway but I wouldn't press your luck. I know it sucks, I've done it...it DOES suck but, you should drain that pool.
@@erikalong9965 yeah we have drained it and each time about 30 minutes after draining it we ended up having strong winds that shifted the entire pool. We have tried this method and blocks/pavers, but it is still off. Our pool holds approximately 12,500 gallons at 90% capacity as per manufacturer specs. We got it to come up some, but not enough as it is still off a bit. We got this pool used (about 2 years old) and we just had to buy a new pump and filter for it that is the correct size and HP for the pool. We have a well which is not ideal for filling a pool as it can cause your pump to run constantly and overheat especially in Texas heat even though it is in an enclosure (pump house). I'm weighing our options currently other than draining it .
@@erikalong9965 we used our 20HP tractor just a bit ago to raise and get the low end back up and level. It still doesn't look level as it should be, but because of the ground on one end being off it is fine. We have 6 yards of sand under the low end and blocks. We have it the same level the previous owner had it at for 2 years so I think we are good. This winter we will drain it and then get it all perfectly level and then refill it again and cover it.
