Paula got a reality check as well. She despises people who take advantage of their privileges. In the end, the only reason she didnt go to jail like Kai was her friendship with that obnoxious princess Olivia.😯
You summed up exactly why this ending worked so well!! Though I despised their privileged mindsets sometimes, especially Olivia’s who was the most spoiled of them all and acted like she was super woke when in reality she was the worst kind of rich person, I am very happy that they all got exactly what they deserved in the end and were all happy, except maybe Olivia being unhappy after the fallout with Paula. Quinn’s ending was nice especially, and Nicole because I’ll root for any character that Connie Britton plays. I was also very happy when Mark discovered he did not have cancer at the beginning so there are no loose ends.
I definitely think there are evil villains on the show and they are without a doubt the rich spoiled guests that swoop in, demand and demand and demand, ruin the local service peoples lives and then just fly away and go back to their lives like nothing happened. Even the boy is going to be calling his parents to send him money in a day or 2, and in a week he'll ask them to get him a ticket home. Spoiled people are evil. 100%.
I wouldn’t simplify this series like that don’t let wokeness blind the brilliance of this show. Human interaction are complicated..sometimes twisted .. chemistry, economic hierarchy and power struggles… it’s a composition on open ended questioning of all these social matters in our society.. there are no villains nor heroes. All accidental role players
Out of all the terrible people in the show, Paula is the worst. She represents so many people who think they are woke, but are actually horrible human beings.
I wonder where Mike White gets his inspirations... Imagine yourself the friend / family member of a satirical writer, and then seeing yourself manifested through the writer's eyes. Ouch.
August 16, 2021 Just started and finished this yesterday. I really enjoyed this. I enjoyed this so much. I thought the son was the most normal one of the bunch. I thought the sister and her friend were so mean to the brother. They had such a diva attitude . Me , me ,me I, I , I. Very annoying attitude. I was bummed out over the death of the manager of the white lotus. I thought he was very funny.
I wonder where Mike White is going to bring season 2. He mentioned an example like Kyoto for clash of cultures. It would be very nice to see in a foreign country. It would be very interesting if he could pull off a story to shoot in a conservative country as backdrop of the next installment.
the only thing he did wrong was to not give shane and rachel their room, which is not ethical i guess, but nowhere near deserving to die. Lots of you never have worked in the customer service department and it shows
Wow I didn't realize Rachel decided to stay with Shane, I end the episode thinking she is gonna divorce Shane till I watch this video. Actually it could have gone either way. Poor Rachel. She is gonna have a lot of problems later.
At least Tanya gave Belinda money that she can put aside for her dream. Would she have prefered a scented letter sealed with a kiss, a flower and a lollipop instead?
She would have preferred respect and being seen as an actual person, not a perpetual servant. Tanya essentially love bombed, then discarded her when she got something better (Greg).
@@merrytunes8697 I do get that, except for the love bombing part. It was a possible friendship and bussiness association, not a romance. Tanya’s gesture is easily framed by the story as being dismissive and objectifying, but it might as well have been something she wanted to do to compensate for her backing out (i also don’t really get why she felt the need to do so, she could have been involved in the bussiness and have greg, but… i guess she has a one track mind or sthg). It wasn’t extraordinary on her part, but still. She could have given her nothing to compensate for her actions.
I think Rachel's problem is she's not good at what she does: journalism, and knows it. It's not because Shane's rich or a momma's boy. If she was really good and confident in her career she wouldn't be needing him in the first place. On the contrary, if she's good at her job, she would use the financial liberty her marriage brings to embark on a project she is really into, like a writing project, a podcast/documentary project. There's no need to whine about your husband not acting like your therapist and lusts after you.
Paula wants so badly to be a victim its infuriating. Yes the Mossbachers have white privilege but that doesn't mean they don't deserve to be a happy family. She is so naive & ungrateful..she was blinded by bitterness & jealousy to the point where she ruined Kai's life forever. Rachel is another character that was annoying af - the very fact she stayed with him proves that she wants to live a life of comfort & enjoy somebody else riches. If she had an ounce of respect for herself, as she claimed she did, she would've got on the first flight back home. The truth is she knew she was never going to leave him & actually took relief in knowing her future was secured.
@@whatever3041 As did Alex, she takes us throug the inner struggle but ends up an hostage of the weakness of the character. Finally some good material for her.

Everyone has a long story, that's a genius writing!
Sounds like you've never been on vacation. Try one. They're fun!
Needs to loosen up a bit ! you sound hateful.
You definitely missed a lot of nuance in the show
This show was absolutely brilliant. Thank you 🙏❤👏👏👏
Did my boi Armand dirty
Yes but what a way to go!
he did himself dirty
I think he would have overdosed eventually anyway. He was spiraling
and Armond did his luggage dirty
Quinn made me so proud of his arc. I clapped at the end. Good for him 🥹👏🙌❤
Best Mini Series of 2021
I enjoyed this show more than I thought I would. Favourite character (after Rachel) was Quinn!
Would have been v interested in seeing what happened to kai
we don't see it because we don't need to lol everyone knows what would happen in that case
Good job to everyone involved. More please 🤗
Does anyone know what the score is called playing at 1 minute in? So beautiful!
Ouch.
What ended up happening to Kai tho?
I guess he is looking for his next acting role, he is good looking likable actor I’m sure he will land a major role soon
Well done, Mike White!
Thanks hbo. Great show.
armond gave me sooo many vibes from john cleese in fawlty towers hahaha
The rich folks endes up getting what they want or getting away with the bad things they did, while the not so previleged ones lost.
Paula was the worst. She complained about ppl privilege but she was at the hotel too. She did more harm than good.
Idk man, Shane murdered someone and got away.
@@nichecorner7504 by accident. he is not a murderer and does not deserve to be in prison. love armond tho xx
JUSTICE FOR BELINDA lol
She got her karmic justice at the end of S2 lol
Armond was a terrible guy, didn't deserve to go out like that but he wasn't a good person
why exactly?
Idk, I really don't think he was a horrible person at all. Made bad choices for sure and paid for it. But Paula and Olivia are worse.
Maverick Mitchel he was an addict, tbh, he did bad things in his relapse, tbh
@@julietteferrars7739 Juliette I pray you find hotel managers just like him in all your future hotel stays.
the only thing he did wrong was to not give shane and rachel their room, which is not ethical i guess, but nowhere near deserving to die. Lots of you never have worked in the customer service department and it shows
So season 2???anybody???
The directors name is Mike White ⚪and the show is called White Lotus. Did you notice that?? 👍

Wow I didn't realize Rachel decided to stay with Shane, I end the episode thinking she is gonna divorce Shane till I watch this video. Actually it could have gone either way. Poor Rachel. She is gonna have a lot of problems later.
Omg me too!!! I was shocked that after all this, she chose shane again!
Yeah I wasn’t sure either
Great series.
HBO is the best.
I really enjoyed this show & it would have been perfect had it not been just another opportunity to cast 99% caucasian actors. How ironic. How sad
I 100% agree with your interpretation of Rachel
@@whatever3041 As did Alex, she takes us throug the inner struggle but ends up an hostage of the weakness of the character. Finally some good material for her.
Love this series!:)
Mike white is a genius
Ugh. Paula😠😡🤬 that poor Kai!
Masterpiece
I like the way Mike white thinks having both sides of the political spectrum represented is important
♥️♥️♥️awesome show😍😍😍👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
*I'M ALL OUT*
Why are the two girls always shown lying down together? They're in Hawaii but do they enjoy the sun and the sea? Nah. I expected some action after all those creepy visuals.
i like the show and i understand the show is about privilege, but he totally left out Hawaiians. Kai didn't really get a proper storyline and what happened with Lani? Majority of staff at these hotels are non white. What about their story?
There are many white employees too what are you talking about
agreed
That’s the point. They are so privilege that the working class are nothing to them, hence why we don’t get to see their story as much
it's more about how some rich ppl are messed up and do questionable things rather than focusing on a group of minorities. Kai had a small storyline, he got arrested.
@@tkp97 yeah we get that but they filmed here in hawaii using hawaiians and its culture as apart of their plot… least they can do is give some closure to that storyline lol.
Thank you Mike for talking about ‘diversity’ in casting and storytelling and not making it a dirty word❤️ (I.e. the lazy ‘woke’ trope)
The girl in the thumbnail is so attractive. I need to find out who she is.
Sydney Sweeny. She's stunning
That's my mother you're talking about, Sunny Jim!
@@dontcall9912 Thats Sydney?! I had no idea. I was crushing on her on Euphoria. I didn't even recognize her.
Her wearing a shirt makes you notice her other fine features, huh?
It was excruciating watching those 2 young girls. A reminder of how absolutely vacuous, impotent and indoctrinated much of our youth is.
Yes, I’m in my early 40s and those girls made me absolutely crazed when they were on the screen. You have them pegged
interesting how bothered you are about these two girls but no word about Shane
@@edithputhy4948 LOL, she may have posted somewhere else about her disdain for Shane. Internet trolls are getting worse.
i watched the full show, tbh it can be a 2 hrs movie, too many long scenes with nothing happening.
Paula is the WORST.
HOW????
Pls hbo custemar cear namber
Spoiler alert!
💩 Poop there it is!
marry me Alexandre
Justin pls hbo custemar cear namber
The season finale was a let down. What a waste of time.
really ? meh
I cannot believe Theo James left Sanditon to work on the trash series.
Hate reality tv.
Y’all CNT be serious in this cmmt section 🙄 This show was trash in my opinion .. very slow just to build up to someone getting stabbed on accident 🤨 nah HBO y’all definitely got/ had better series than this one .. I was disappointed fa’real & felt like I wasted my time watching it ..
Stick to CW shows. The nuance of this brilliant show is clearly not for you.
@@TheWeeklyWithKiki I give it to character development too somewhat but other than that the show just wasn’t that good
@@tealsquare please tell me what was brilliant abt this show .. you talking abt stick to CW shows like that has anything to do with it 🙄
@@halfbakeddd6886 everything from the acting to humor, to the story, to the message, to point out the problems of the society without always blaming the privileged ones and so on...
This show is written and centered around non minorities so it seems very basic and vapid.
write your own story... again, its a journey, its fiction, and clearly its not for everyone
But many of privileged guests are seen as troubled or silly though. Staff like Belinda is wise , some of the guests like Tanya is a complete basket case.
That’s the point of the show. It shows that people with a lot of money don’t see how their action affect the working class
I think thats the reality/tragedy of the show .the people that you root for the working class in the show dont get a happy ending which more often than not happens in life
@@JankeyCreator wow what a thoughtful response to my opinion🙄
this tv series is disgusting and disturbing
This show was the biggest waste of time. Big disappointment.
