I'll be cheering on Motorola just because they're trying to do something fresh and new. Breaking the same-y look phones have these days
But they have terrible software support. Which in my personal opinion matters a whole lot more than "same-y" look of phones.
Even their most expensive phones (of recent times) have a maximum of 2 years of support. And the security patches or whatever is always delayed by more than 2 months. So if anyone is looking to buy a Motorola device, I would totally not recommend it.
Ello moto
didn't they literally just release a z flip 'clone' as the newest razr?
@@Polyeith doesn't look like a z flip lol
Will you be cheering with your wallet? Or just in the RUclips comments?
I just love how Ken has vtubers on like every tech item he owns
And who would that be?
@@Ari.Atland Subaru or Ken?
I loved my Razr V3 but the battery used to get so hot (even after replacing the battery) I like the idea that someone else other than Samsung is doing folables. I have had 3 Samsungs and I think they are really good, Looking forward to having the proper chip in my next Samsung, not the slower chips that we get outside the US!
In the long run, I think it's better to have an Exynos chip because you can unlock the bootloader! My Galaxy phones are stuck on stupid versions just because I have a Snapdragon soc.
I bought a Fold 2 used for $299, it's an incredible price for what you're getting and I use it as my daily driver now. The used market is awesome!
Damn, what a steal!
I actually managed to find one for 250 bucks, couldn't be happier
I needed a 3rd phone as a secondary use, & this was great time to snatch the fold 2 for that price
Can you get samsung care ?
@@derdummeasi well, only if you buy separately but it will total still under 500$
I got a RAZR 5G for $300, was so close to getting the Z Flip 2 or 3. But I decided against it, because of the deeper crease and tiny outside display. Those were the biggest turn offs for me. Since the Z Flip has faster chips, they will sip through battery life much quicker than a mid range chip designed to be power efficient. I'm not saying the Z Flip is a terrible phone, I think they're very nice. But every phone will have it's imperfections, just like people.
Great video! I’ll never forget how pumped I was to get my first Razr back in the day
as someone who used one of the og razrs back in the day, the foldable was compelling but the specs just weren't it for the price, though i'm pretty excited to see the rollable in reviewers hands if it ever makes it to market
I want to see a market ready version of this rollable one day. Fingers crossed!
I don’t see the point of a foldable like the Z Flip or the Razr. It just allows you to turn your phone into a smaller phone with barely any added functionality. At least the Fold folds out your phone into a compact tablet, which seems far more useful.
I’m still not sold on foldables, but I can at least see that distinction possibly make a critical difference for me.
Loved the Razr. It was a phone my gf had at the time, and I was jealous (had an LG chocolate)
Love Denki and the format. You're a great host and I legit look forward to every upload of yours. Please keep them coming :)
I love your wallpaper in it, Oozora Subaru😍 and you also had hachama!
Thank you for making this video, I had wanted one of these for a while but couldn’t find a good review of a used one, which would be the market I would be in.
I love how you have Subaru from hololive as your wallpaper, what a cultured man
OMG, I bought a moto 2019 for 180 euros and used it for two months as a unit of my "crazy feature phone" collection and I learned about the old Razr mode from you. Thanks for this knowledge
I subscribed because of the Kero plush 😂😂❤❤ Great video! Think I might make this my new device.🎉
I think Ken rocking that Amelia hat and Shuba wallpaper is smooth. Thanks for the awesome video!
I've only owned Motos, so safe to say I enjoy their phones. They've been very up and down, but for the first time in a few years, they are developing new stuff that is actually outside the norm and getting attention for it. Hopefully the Rizr is a success.
I had a Motorola phone that lagged like shi* and after 3 years I ended up buying Redmi note 10 pro I haven't regretted it one bit and it never lagged once. If you don't know what the Motorola phone is it's moto G7.
@@Austinredstonerthe g7 is a budget phone. It's only meant for basic phone tasks. The Rizr would be a flagship so it'd have a much better chip
I feel like Motorola has some tricks under their sleeves, and I'm excited to see them! They have come a very long way in the past 4 years. I have the Razr 5G which I paid $300 for it, which is pretty much the improved version of the 2019 RAZR. A slightly faster processor, a way better camera, more storage and RAM, glass back, and the fingerprint reader was moved to a more convenient location. Personally I don't like the newest RAZR they came out with. It looks like a Z Flip 2 with a bigger outside screen. They took away the classic design.
Shuba and Haachama cameo 🤣🤣
first time coming across your channel, appreciate your sense of humour 🤣🤣definitely subbing for more!
I would most definitely be interested to see this type of innovation at the finished stage. Rollable phone... has my interest for sure!!!
Hey, I’m from the future and the new razor is gonna be 🔥🔥. Thank you
Thank you for bringing up Motorola. I agree that theyve been pushed aside by Samsung and Apple, and i also hope that they can do something to return their presence in the market.
I've been a motorola fan since the Atrix 2 days, and feel they need to bring the Razr/Nexus back to their former glory. I've since switched to samsung, but would love to return to motorola given the right specs and price. The nexus 6 was by far one of my favorite phones and would love to own one again.
I like the idea of the sliding screen, but that just adds more complexity, and thats really not something i want in a smartphone unless i know its going to withstand some abuse.
I'm looking forward to the RAZR 2023... I went from the RAZR 5G to the Galaxy fold 3 but I dislike so many things about this phone, can't wait to trade it in.
A year ago I bought the 5g model for 130 dollars with a broken outer display. I used it for 6 months til the broken display went black and it was buggy after that. I personally loved it for the outer display! Can literally browse and watch RUclips on it lol
I should have touched on it more on the video, but it feels like Moto gave a simpler version of the full Android UI on the cover. Crazy what you can do in it!
I have a shelf in my ManCave / Studio with dozens of phones ranging from 1992 to 2016. I have a Cingular Motorola Razr. Everytime people see that shelf, most say I had that Razr. This one and all the Nextel phones like the i60 with non color screen then the i95c which was Nextel's first color screeb phone.
Another brilliant video ... Can't believe Motorola's name is now more relevant than ever .. you know with them making motorized rollable (proof of concept >
I’ve been using the 2022 RAZR on and off for around 6 months now and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. It’s a properly good phone
Speaking on a more entry level foldables, I would love to see your opinion on the new Phantom V Fold.
Good video!! 😊
20 years later and now I get it Razr as Razor sharp omg thank you
I had the OG Razor,it was a great cellphone.I think that rolling screen concept phone if it comes to market will be at least $2,000 or close to it.
Depends on the company releasing it. I wouldn't be surprised a company like Oppo will release a compact rollable for around $1000.
Ken is a man of culture
Would love to see a newer version with up to date internals. Good ui. Dual speakers And a good price at 1k. 1.5k is too much for me. I'll ditch my Samsung s21+ for one if they bring one out that's really solid.
Alright ken I’m going to need you to show me where you find these wallpapers for your devices because their fire 🔥
I have a Motorola now and I've had one for about 8 years I feel like they can take a beating and keep going
Just found your channel ken I'm subbing
I love my Z flip 3 but there’s just something about that 1st gen Razr that makes me want it despite all the shortcomings. Less so the newer models though, although I love the big cover screen and the fact that you can do anything on it.But Samsprung or CoverscreenOS cover me as regard usage though.
what that last shit at the end of the video was wild. how it can unwind to fit custom video resolutions. mindblown
I actually had a phone called the Rizr. IT was the motorola Rizr Z3 in the really pretty blue color. It had this soft touch feel to it that I would bet money feels like complete garbage now. It was a nice little phone. I liked being able to use it without the keypad being out all the time. The slide on it was also really satisfying.
That rollable display proof of concept could be called the "Moto ROLR" (pronounced roller).
my man rocking that oozora subaru wallpaper
respect
I can't believe they haven't just called the Rollable the Moto Roller...
2:21 The trademark Ken Bolido laugh will never get old lol
Honestly, their prototype is kinda cool, but I'd love to see another iteration on the Razer instead. I think that really it was just a combination of early foldables being kind of bad, and the lack of flagship specs. If they could find a way to bring the price down to be more in line with standard flagship phones as well, I'd could see them having a home run on their hands. The only other thing I think may have held the original back is the chin. I don't think it should go away by any means, as it could be a good space for them to pack in some extra funtionality, but it being tailored for better ergonomics when holding the phone one handed, and allowing for better gesture controls (swipe up to access app tray for example) would really help it as well.
Dat Shuba Shuba wallpaper. 2:45 chotto machette, HACHAMA.
I've been a Moto fan for years do to their bang for the buck value, but as of late I just don't see them being there with lackluster software updates, along with some of the hardware getting worse for more money on the Moto G, and E series, so I switched to a Nokia G50 in August 22 after the battery in my Motorola G Power 2020 started to act up, and have been very surprised at the software support it's received for a $240 phone. Far as a rollable phone, na that just looks even more fragile than a folding phone, so I'm sticking with a slab for sometime to come.
Ken That's Subaru oozora nice wallpaper bro!🌟💥💥
I'm sorry, but Who is Subaru?

The razr v3 phone still holds up as a super stylish phone in 2023. Theres basically nothing else from 20 years ago whose design language holds up that well, even the original iphone doesn't hold up that well. Its just a testament to why it was so popular back in the day, the design was way ahead of its time.
The fact he had Subaru on the home screen was enough for me to like the video.
I see a fellow subaru enjoyer, i subscribe.
I got one for Christmas typing on it now, cost me 130 dollars and so far I'm happy with it.
Great video
I'm normally running my iPhone 13 and my backup is fold 2, which im usually using whilst im lying in bed and watching vids and stuff, cos its perfect size compare to ipad pro. I was thinking about getting flip 2 or 3 but never got around those two.
Honestly I would go with a rollable than a folding phone any day of the week. You just won't have to worry about a crease. I would just be worried about the rollable mechanism failing.
Where does he get those cool wallpapers?! I have been looking for a website but they don’t have such high quality as the ones Denki uses on his videos…
Can you try out the second gen? :] gr8 vid😊
nice video!
While the idea o f a rollable phone sounds good I just wonder about durability of the Lenovo/Motorola concept since the screen is exposed . How would it be protected in your pocket?
If there was a forearm mounted phone that maybe rolls up and you can resize, to go higher on the arm when working.
And is durable, maybe then
What a pipe dream.
I do like the look and uses of the z fold.
Too expensive for me though.
Would rather a s13.
I'm using an a10e for the last 4 years
Really wanted the Razr but skipped out soley because of the lack of a headphone jack; I still don't understand why phones cost such a ridiculous amount of money yet basic features are taken away. If the new rollabale has a headphone jack, I'd defintely buy.
I got a used Microsoft Surface Duo for about 200 as well. May want to do a comparison!
I wasn't the biggest fan at launch, but maybe at that price??? 🤔
@@DNKI likewise. I could never justify one for full price but loved the idea of a surface. I picked up a used one on eBay with a cracked back glass for 180. Stuck a sticker cover on it and it’s like brand new.
I wouldn’t ever daily drive it as a phone, but it’s FANTASTIC as a secondary device I’ve linked to my businesses Microsoft 365 account.
Plus being able to game on one screen and still watch shows on the other is cash.
@@DNKI and if you want to get real crazy, there’s a RUclips by the name of Shane Craig who has a big surface duo following, and there’s a community that’s actually gotten windows 10/11 to run on the duo. Pretty cool. Possibly future video? Love your channel.
@@Shhimhiding Ahh that's good input, thank you! Since their original gameplan for the Surface Neo crashed, it's cool people got proper Windows running on the Duo. Might experiment soon!
Nice, for that price I'd definitely use it as a DS emulator if nothing else
Not going to lie that rollable phone made my gasp at awesomeness when it switched resolution into a ultra wide screen how did it sound tho and where is the charger port tho?
Personally, I think for the rollable phones, have it not motorized and you just pull it out and then push it back in sounds more practical
Definitely would get the rizr
What about the 2020 version lol woul u recommend it I need advice im thinking on getting it
Motorola is getting really interesting these days. I was kind of making fun of them back in 2016 when I worked mobile retail for their boring, entry level phones that to me felt lower quality than what Huawei was offering at the time, but they really got my attention with the Razr. I absolutely hated the original Z Flip design and seriously considered buying one for the small form factor. I also don’t mind the chin at all, because it gives you somewhere to grab that’s not the phone screen when doing things like picking it up while a video plays. I don’t love the full front screen concept though, with the way the cameras are sort of in the middle of it. With the rolling one though I’m excited to see what else they cook up. They’re finally doing something interesting.
Man I'd grab one for 200$. Sure, my current phone is 200$, but I miss the old Razrs. There even was a slider back in the day, my mom had one.
I would propabily get a roleable phone if they are at a level foldables are now. I was very existed for the concept when LTE first showed it, a pitty the stopped half a year later.
Where did you get the wallpaper from ?
"Gotta ask a different asian for that one" I felt that 100%, Ken 😂
Not gonna lie, my mum had the old Moto Razr and when i aged from toddler to like a 9 year old, i looked at the phone when it was on and legit thought it was a screen at the bottom. I was stupid af back then but glad there is a foldable phone us poor ppl can afford :D
Price wise if you want the gimmick of a foldable phone and you have a provider that gets you one, it's neat but if you're like me on T Mobile, I couldn't get the Razr so I got the flip 4
I was trying to listen, but all I could focus on was the Kero-Chan plushie.
7:30 Missed opportunity. Name it the MotoRoller.
Rollable in concept is awesome, but i can imagine what a pain it would be for smartphone gaming, when you need the bigger screen, with such a thin display on one side, and the other being thicker. Now, gamers are most likely not their demographic, but not all casual games use vertical screens.
Absolutely, that's probably one of a few good reasons why it's still a concept at the moment.
we all got chin 3:23 ken even i got it
🤣🤣
if its at that price that would be pretty decent imo .its design and the 5g version look better then the 2022/2023 version
Yo that price dropped fast, so glad I waited on this tech, I love the idea but not for over $1000. Honestly hate having brick phones and would prefer a flip or foldable
Maybe i would if the price is right and if it is durable.
THE RIZR OG WAS MY FAV OLD MOTOROLA
This man has more pride than shame to have a lot of anime stuff and not hide it away for videos
I still like it... Looks amazing.
Security patches monthly & software updates in timely manner at affordable prices yes
Just flash custom ROM
That rollable is literally the phone I have always wanted without the rollable screen, just drop a slide down physical QWERTY keyboard and it would be the best phone of all time.
That's....thats from Cardcaptor I remember when that aired in the states
Doa because of softwarr when braught software support went down witth the phones.i want software support back and security support
You have the Jukebox color way!! Bro instant sub for that alone. If you have SA Jukebox. I'd join your paid content
my parents had the og RAZR imma get them this phone because they have a super slow and old android now.
I will only rock a new rollable or foldable phone if they bring back expandable storage
you know oppos new flod is so awesome with amazing features hope few gets inspired from this and create something new to the consumers and make a vast change wats your opinion?
I need that wallpaper someone link it to me plz
I need that wallpaper
where can i find that wallpaper?
Okay Ken The Rock Johnson
I rather get z flip 3 . Here in the uk used on Facebook marketplace around £250
Honestly, I would like to see a Razr built like the classic one. Just replace the keypad with the second screen and I would be down for it.
That’s already been done bro
i bought this phone used and the display had a weird green tint to it at lower to mid brightness levels. i contacted support and got an ENTIRELY new device in a entirely new retail package and it had the same issue. i would NOT buy the razr, buy a used samsung flip or fold for a couple hundos more
would love to get it for this price in Germany
I bought a used fully functional flip 3 for 80 dollars its like the best purchase ive ever made
the only issue I see with the rollable Moto is that it's very slow
i can't igonre subaru and hachama at all🤭
