After long time, i watched higurashi kai and i didnt quite like it. Bcs Rika being cocky and pesimistic all the time.hanyuu the only character that makes me interested to watch kai till the last episode. I finally understand how kai connect with first season. SPOILER ALERT I finally understand how kai connect with the first season, takano and yamainu controls hinamizawa syndrome and it turn out the side effect Rena shion and keiichi hallucinating and kill each other in season 1. Satoko becomes victim of hinamizawa syndrome losing satoshi and constant abused by her uncle. Satoko receive medical treatment in irie clinic. While takano kills Rika in every world to spread false rumor how volcanic gas wipe out all villagers but actually takano and yamainu who poisoned the villagers and wipe out all villagers. Hanyuu or known as oyashiro sama never want people killing each other always failed to stop them bcs paranoia they felt.however since takano hates hanyuu interference as her desire becomes God with her grandpa hifumi. Takano start accuse hanyuu is the cause of people paranoia and spread false rumor about oyashiro's curse is behind the mysterious murders in season 1.

When he died, it coudln't be finished, and Miyo Takano was tasked with completing it. After she graduated college, She was granted funding by a rich old collegue of Hifumi's named Koizumi. She could only get this funding from him because the rest of the scientific community laughed at the concept of the Hinamizawa Syndrome, beleiving it not to be real. The clinic was named after Irie because it was basically the only job he could get. He was a reject of the scientific community due to his adament beleif in neuro surgery such as lobotomies, which were being fazed out of medical relevency by the 1980's across the world. After Koizumi died, no one else on the Tokyo commitee was interested in continuing to fund the Irie Clinic. It was scheduled to shut down by 1986. Takano knew that this would not give her enough time to complete her grandfather's life's work, therefore immortalizing him as a god. This is when she is approached by a woman named Nomura. Nomura is the one who convinces her to cause the Great Hinamizawa Disaster. This is because Nomura, or whoever she works for, wants Koizumi's left over faction to be kicked out of Tokyo for her own benefit. It will also benefit Takano beacuse those who matter, namely the government scientists who laughed at her grandfather, would know the true power of the Hinamizawa Syndrome. Takano devises a plan, emergency manual #34, to enact this. The ones who actually kill the villagers are not the Yamainu, but the Japanese military who round them up and gas them, gunning down any stragglers. The government is convinced by Takano that the village must be destroyed for the sake of national security. This is becuase a soldier infected with the Hinamizawa Syndrome fired on the Chinese at the Marco Polo bridge incident during the Sino-Japanese war. Historically, no one knew if it were the Chinese or the Japanese who fired first, but if the Hinamizawa Syndrome were to become public knowledge, it wouldn't be hard to figure it out. Also it is strongly suggested that Rika was given some sort of nuero surgery by Irie, who cut out a piece of her brain, making her immune to the Hinamizawa Syndrome which is why she never fell to it. It would also explain why she's so strange with her split personalites, delusions, and hallucinations. She was given some sort of operation that "shocked" her mother and father, forbidding her from participating with Irie and Takano any further. This is why Takano had them killed. And, unbeknownst to Irie, she actually kidnaps Rika's mother and disects her alive to try and see if there's anything special about the brain of a Queen Carrier.

@@bogavante13 because irie did "something" do her that made her very "sick" and her parents didn't want her going back to the clinic, and it's never elaborated on exactly what he did but we know that the parasite only exists in the brain and in order to examine it, you need a live brain. and we know that irie is a proponent for neuro surgery so that's probably what he did to her. And the "sick" that her parents were so furious over would be the scar on her head. and I don't know if the scene with rika's mom and takano was in the manga, it wasn't in the anime. I think it was a TIP in the sound novel. also in the when they cry universe, you have to understand that there's nothing supernatural, ever. This is really jammed home in Umineko (in fact it's the main point of Umineko) but only half-way in Higurashi. It's kind of ironic because Rika finally explains the science behind Oyashiro-sama's curse while ignoring her own delusions of grandeur. With that in mind we know that Hanyuu does not actually exist. She is just Rika's imagination. Each iteration of the story kinda brings us to this point. Orginally, Takano inexplicably misses the shot at Hanyuu. In the manga, it's shown Rika actually catches the bullet in her hand. In Matsuri it's revealed that Hanyuu and Rika were the same person the whole time. And in another of the games (forget which one) Hanyuu actually dies. So Rika catches the bullet, Hanyuu and Rika are the same, Hanyuu actually dies. So rather than catching the bullet with her hand, she probably more likely caught it with her brain. So the true ending of Higurashi is probably that everyone survived except Rika. But we'll never know for sure. Or maybe I'm overthinking it.

I've read in some forum that someone states Hanyuu was actually in Rika's body while the real Rika inside something (I forget what it is) in the Saiguden. Since I read your comment, I also began to questioning Hanyuu presence in Matsutibayashi-hen or Miotsukushi-hen (when Keiichi can see and touch Hanyuu) though since she was physically exist there 😂
