I use this paired with EZ Drummer 3 and it's sooooo sick. Makes practice and demos a blast, quick, and doesn't disturb the whole neighborhood. I'm not sold on using them live or on actual records but for everything else they are king for the money.
WOW, with ezdrummer this kit stands to blow out the competition completely. If the durability is at least as good as Alesis's kits or better, this will at the very least drive down the price of all the other companies stuff. So long as the Millennium drums actually last long term, they have shown everyone that the other companies are either being shady by charging so much for theirs, or are behind in the tech. Either way, I've been wanting to replace my Alesis Nitro with something more like the Millennium and I am definitely going to do some research on their kits now. Thank you very much for showing us the kit, you have likely saved a good number of people a decent amount of money. Money that can be used for something more important than people realize and that is a good quality throne.

Could the snare be set to do a cross-stick sound? Could a chromebook be used instead of a PC for the USB connection to access more drum sounds? Do you know where these drums are made? Thank you, great video. 👍👍✌️✌️
Did you do anything in the settings? I have this kit and the hi-hat is not responsive at all. Also the choke function on the cymbals almost never works unless I squeeze them really hard. And the bell on the ride cymbal is also not responsive. Been trying to tweek it in the settings, but is stays horrible.
So with the Hi Hat, there is an update on the millennium website. That said, I didn’t use it but did notice that in order to get the best response it needs to be higher than you probably would like it. Chock function I had no issue but you do have to actually grip it. Ride bell can be tweaked but if you play very lightly then it maybe difficult to get the sensitivity high enough.
how can i connect this , to have sound from pc or tablel if i want to use drummeo and this kit through headphones on the same sound output ( headphones)
Amazing review, Jason, thanks! My question is about the natural "acoustic noise" of the set, especially that of the drum bass and snare? Is it possible to bother the neighbors if one has this set in a conventional apartment (blocks)?
It is still quite loud to a degree. It’s no louder than drumming on a hard back book in theory. Bass drum wise, the stomp can be heard down through floors but there are things you can do. Silent bass drum pedal beaters, Adoro silent sticks, along with some form of platform for the kit if the noise does bother neighbours downstairs. I built mine out of 2 bits wood and tennis balls (a build I found on RUclips).
Bold idea - if someone was inclined to, would it be easy to use the hardware on a Roland TD module? Could save an unbelievable amount of money considering what you get with a Td-17 kits

Hi, I got mine Yesterday. I got a problem with the Kickdrum pedal. It MOVES and I dont know how to fix this. Do you have a good idea? Or am I playing wrong....thx ✌️
Hi Jason, As a beginner I was also checking out this set kit and am a little in the dark, yet thought as you do, that it does not compare with what you get from other set-ups. Given the huge price difference from proper drum sets. I liked the fact that it was so compact, they speak of 140 x 80 cm foot print on your living room floor! yet with stool and access it might be quite a bit more, still tight though. What sticks would you recommend or are the one´s provided ok enough?
As a beginner it’s important to buy something that can grow with you for a few years. Not to mention that should you give up, or don’t like it. You didn’t spend a fortune in trying. It’s quite a big footprint but a bit smaller than a full size acoustic kit. The sticks that come with it are fine. Should you need more I would go to a shop and try 5A or 7A. 5A is standard weight for most people but sometimes the lighter weight 7As suite other people.
I can do this when I get another kit from Thomann. This one has gone back to them now so can’t make a tutorial on it. Essentially it takes a 1 hit wav sample and you can place it on each pad. You still get dynamic volume but its just the same sample played quieter or louder so the tone can’t change to make it realistic. Great for consistent kick drums though!
As long as you have a double pedal it will work just fine. You can change the sound in the hi-hat controller to a bass drum but I wouldn’t recommend it.
Thank you! So helpful! I’m only learning so as soon as I’m ready to buy my own, your link is what I’ll be using as a thank you for such an informative review!!

Not keen on the in-built sounds (I rarely am with ANY of these e-kits, tbh). BUT hooking it up to a vst plugin like Addictive Drums 2 or similar would take this kit to a WHOLE different level!
Aw man, I went for a Roland TD1-DMK when I started playing drums a few years ago, and now that I feel limited and want to expand it, I regret it… Going for this one would be much cheaper than buying the Roland parts that I want. I do have a question though. I don’t really need the second bass tom, and would like to add a China cymbal. Will the « tom 4 » trigger in let me do that, and assign a china in the module ? Or will I have to go through a computer and a DAW+plugin to achieve that ?
Never regret buying a Roland kits they hold their value and are killer. You can change the trigger of Tom 4 to another crash or china but you’d need to change this on the module. That’s about it for expanding it for now but if you sacrifice chocking cymbals or dual zone, you could split the stereo cable into 2 mono ones potential but I haven’t tested this.
Yes, all electronic kits are loud to play. Nothing will ever be silent. I’d say it’s a good 60% quieter than an acoustic kit. No louder then hitting a phone book with a stick hard.
I want an e-drum kit which includes realistic drum sounds, where the toms don't sound processed and electronic-y. That's great for Simmons etc patches, but not for when I want an acoustic kit. I'm not thrilled with my Alesis mesh kit in that regard. I'd like to quit depending on VST drum software. My Addictive Drums are fantastic. However, that's all at the mercy of quirky, glitchy computers. Currently, MIDI trax I make using that is missing the hi hats, and I never know what's going to "feel like" working during any given day. I'd like to have something that's "already there" which I can just record, lol.
the millenium mps-850's drum module has some very decent preset sounds... but i'd say that alot of them just miss in some way or another. i think you can pick and customize your drum kit's sounds, but everything sounds better with a VST of course :)
Is it just me or does it seem like there is no tonal difference between a hard strike of the snare and a soft strike... It just seems to change the volume of the sound, not the tone of the sound.
It doesn’t change too much but drum kit in general in this price range they all only have 2 samples per pad generally. Still great quality for practice and amazing when combined with ez drummer etc.
@@JasonSayersDrums I've heard that sets like the alesis nitro are not recommended for taller people. Also i wanted a set that i could comfortably play double bass on. This one seems like a pretty good choice
it doesnt sound like it has that many velocity levels for the triggers in the samples points. press rolls might be interesting - but if the data is there and being sent I can just run it via a different drum library. save me spending 2 grand. as its not my primary instrument
@@JasonSayersDrums at this point I'm suprised noones made an cheap Ekit with a bare bones module that just has an interface to load in sample libraries without running to a PC.
I don't like them very much. They cannot pick ghost notes as they have very low sensitivity. The built in sounds are really bad and the lag is quite noticeable. The high-hat is hit and miss and so are the cymbals. I haven't tried them with SSD5 yet. Maybe that can improve them a bit but I doubt it.
There is an update on the Hi-Hat module which can be had from their website. The built in sounds are the exact same as i have on my more expensive Alesis kit. They do the job but if you want realism then connecting to a computer is vital. Ghost notes i had no issues with, maybe you hit lighter than me and need to increase pad sensitivity on that drum?
I'm looking to buy one of the beginner e-drum kits for my girlfriend but I don't think this is the right one for us. In my opinion the sounds don't get close to the quality of a Roland TD-02 KV and I wouldn't be using EZDRUMMER with it so I guess this is not for me. Unfortunately..
Roland have very processed sounds and have a very different triggering system. The sounds from the millennium module are identical to almost all other kits like Alesis etc. They are good enough to learn on but if you want amazing sounding drums then you’ll always pay a lot more.
A pity you didn't let us hear all the Std pop rock kits, modules are filled with junk most people won't use, but the little we did hear sounded usable. Yes, the big boys are getting a run for their money, I've got a Roland TD11KV, and I've just bought an Alesis Nitro Max, and the Alesis blows the Roland out of the park with regards to drum SOUND quality - (but I did build my own user kits) The Roland stuff is built like a tank, and kits like this? Only time will tell if they last. It looks like Millennium is only available in the US.
I was trying to keep the video a bit shorter in length so couldn’t do all of the kits. It’s very similar to my Alesis kit which was semi high end in 2020. Lots of cool features and had the same build quality. The sounds are useable but maybe not for live situations.
A bit casio-like sound, but might be worth to try with everything except the first or second you used, but it's always like that with CHEAP gear. I might trade one of my snares for a kit..
I use this paired with EZ Drummer 3 and it's sooooo sick. Makes practice and demos a blast, quick, and doesn't disturb the whole neighborhood. I'm not sold on using them live or on actual records but for everything else they are king for the money.

It can be raised up quite high. Not sure how high you would want it but it dues have flexibility to get taller.
@@JasonSayersDrums I've heard that sets like the alesis nitro are not recommended for taller people. Also i wanted a set that i could comfortably play double bass on. This one seems like a pretty good choice
it doesnt sound like it has that many velocity levels for the triggers in the samples points.
press rolls might be interesting -
but if the data is there and being sent I can just run it via a different drum library. save me spending 2 grand. as its not my primary instrument
The built in sounds only have a few velocity ranges. The triggers when in USB should use the full range of what every VST you use.
@@JasonSayersDrums at this point I'm suprised noones made an cheap Ekit with a bare bones module that just has an interface to load in sample libraries without running to a PC.
is there any echoing or doubling up when you hit the drum pads hard? i have seen this some cheap kits.
Where did you get that Slipknot shirt
I can’t actually remember 🤣
@@JasonSayersDrums well it looks good on you bro!
They have one with a double pedal
The kick pad can accommodate a double pedal. However, they i can't seem to find a version in which they give a double pedal to you.
wish this edrum is sold in Malaysia, such a well rounded set, i eventually bought a Yamaha 452k for the reliability at my price point
This has to be made by the same company that made the 2021 Donner 200. Same drums. Same cymbals. Same rack.
my dream
Tnx for demo
nice
Yes, the big boys are getting a run for their money, I've got a Roland TD11KV, and I've just bought an Alesis Nitro Max, and the Alesis blows the Roland out of the park with regards to drum SOUND quality - (but I did build my own user kits)
The Roland stuff is built like a tank, and kits like this? Only time will tell if they last. It looks like Millennium is only available in the US.
I was trying to keep the video a bit shorter in length so couldn’t do all of the kits. It’s very similar to my Alesis kit which was semi high end in 2020. Lots of cool features and had the same build quality. The sounds are useable but maybe not for live situations.
It’s also available to the U.K. and some EU countries
@@JasonSayersDrums Ahhh, ok tks.
@@JasonSayersDrums On tks. I think it could deff be used in live situations, the sounds that we heard sound 10 x better than most acoustic kits.
Hardware is good, sound's zz thin and too flat.
If it has one or two good rock/metal paches, it would be sufficient.
A bit casio-like sound, but might be worth to try with everything except the first or second you used, but it's always like that with CHEAP gear.
I might trade one of my snares for a kit..
the good part about edrums is that you can always fix every sound with VST software :)
Can you put your iphone to it and play along
Yes as long as you have an aux cable and the adapter if your iPhone doesn’t have a headphone out
i prefer wood and Metal Shells not plastic etc , Gretch, Ludwig

Dragging.. NOT MY FUCKING TEMPO!
Great film
