I chose the millennium because they had better customer service and warranty. I was able to get on the phone with them right away to tell them to run my credit card again because it got declined for being a suspicios overseas transaction. I heard millennium has some problems with that. 3. Im 185. Idk how the kit would fit me?? Those are my concerns. And it would be great if youd give me some small pros and cons (Also im upgrading from alesis nitro mash kits is this one any better?) Thank you my Balkan friend. Cheers!
Marshal Zhukov, I see you swapped guns for drums :) 1. The sound is - well, ok, not the best sounding module, but it does its job. For recording covers, I'd personally connect the set to EZ Drummer. For a club gig - hardly anyone will notice the sound difference. 2. I haven't experienced any latency whatsoever, and I use a super long cable to connect the drums to my fairly old computer. 3. The kit IS compact, but I got used to it pretty quickly, and I'm rather tall. In general - pros: cheap, durable with a variety of options. Cons: small pads, hitting the top of the cymbal to get the bell sound takes some time getting used to. Other than that, I haven't had any issues. Lastly, I haven't really played Nitro, only Crimson and Strike kits, so can't help you there. I hope this helps ;)
Great video! I got the same kit early 2020 and thought someday I'd try connect it to a computer to record drums. Seems like it will work exactly as I expected as a midi device with a drum plugin on top in reaper! Also some decent playing at the end! I'm still only starting to learn haha.
Thanks! Exactly why I bought it as well - as a MIDI device, and it works nicely! Also, you'll get better and better so long as you enjoy playing - that's the point, right? :)
Thanks for the detailed overview, including unboxing! Like most people looking for their first eDrums, I've landed upon the Millennium, Alesis, or Roland options. Definitely tempted after seeing a bit more! I know you mentioned that you didn't use the inbuilt sounds very much, but how do they compare to any other modules that you've used before?
Hi Ben! Thanks! The sound is really not that bad, I may have been a bit too harsh, you can definitely make it work, but they do sound artificial to me. Rolands that I've tested have by far the best sound, but we're talking about 6-7K kits. Alesis sounds a bit more natural to me, but they're really not that far from what I managed to get out of the Millenium. They do have more voices though. I Hope this helps!
@@milanmandich thanks for getting back to me, appreciate it! I've tried out an Alesis Nitro Mesh in store but unfortunately there aren't many physical shops in my area that stock other options so trying to gauge about the module options from reviews like this

Hey András! Yeah, no, you can't . I was messing with it in the beginning, and I managed to get three diferent sounds from the hi-hat - fully closed, semi-open, open. It's one of the downsides of using an e-kit instead of the real thing, unfortunately.
Hi! Sorry for the late reply, I wasn't home, so couldn't reply until I checked - yes it can, you can basically just mirror the installation, and it should work just fine.
Hello, nice vid btw. But I have one question, when i do your steps in reaper I don't get a single input, I enabled the input for the Millenium and selected the midi input for the drums but it doesn't work? What is the problem?
I'm thinking of getting an e-drum, and it seems this one fits the bill and is more than enough for a home-studio. Definitely, I also intended to go with a VST like EZDrummer, SSD, Superior Drummer, Addictive Drums, GGD, etc... as it brings the sound quality to a great level. If anything it looked a bit "tiny" but.. how tall/big are you Milan? (in cm. if possible) ;P
Hi Beni, I'm 196cm tall. The max height of the middle bar - where the smaller toms are installed - can be raised up to 75cm (I lowered the bar a bit). I hope this helps. Happy drumming!
Great review thanks!!!! i will have a similar setup in my home studio. my pc will be far away from the drum module so i will need at least 3 meters usb cable to connect it my pc. How long do you think would be acceptable for a usb cable to work properly (no signal loos, no noise etc) Thank you ;)
Thanks Kostis! My usb extension cable is 5m long and I don't have any problems at all! And it was just a cheap one that I got at Thomann, nothing fancy. Good luck with the setup!

Hey, great video! I'm wondering if there is a noticeable difference between the MPS 850 vs the MPS 1000 that could make it worth it to buy the MPS 1000
Hi, thanks! I haven't yet had a chance to try out the mps1000, so I don't know. From what I've seen so far, looks like a nice upgrade, but I don't think I could fit it in my room anyway :)
Hi, no, you just connect the drum set to the computer and that's pretty much it. You then select the plugin of choice in the DAW, and use the drum set purely as a midi input device.
Thanks a lot for this video, I found it very informative. I am an absolute beginner and this will be my first drum set. Do you recommend Millenium 850? And also except drum set itself, drum carpet, and headset, what other accessories/software do I need? Appreciate your help 😊
Hey Amin, thanks! I would definitely recommend the 850, it's really great! I've had a chance to try out pretty much everything, from DIY e-drums, to over €5000 Roland hybrids, and this is a really good set. A drum carpet is a nice to have, but in no way - a must. I wouldn't recommend using the headset exclusively, because of health reasons, so here's what I'd get instead (assuming you've already got a PC, or a Mac): 1. A pair of near-field monitors (don't have to be insanely expensive - check out Adam, KRK, or Yamaha) 2. An external sound card (pretty much any Focusrite will do) 3. A pair of high-quality balanced monitor cables - to avoid noise 4. A USB extender (if your computer is far from the drum set) 5. Digital Audio Workstation (Reaper, Ableton, Logic Pro...) - if you want to record your drums 6. Optional: Toontrack's EZ or Supperior Drummer - for the sound library One important note: I can't recommend Thomann's support team enough - I contacted them a couple of times, and they were extremely quick and helpful with all of my queries, so if I missed something, I'm sure they would be able to help out. Have fun playing the drums!
Thanks for the input, that was great!..... I'm on the verge of getting a kit myself ..... I've also been looking at the Fame DD-One XT Professional kit which is slightly more expensive as they have some more sounds as an upgraded kit but it is a slightly larger kit & space is a major issue for me so it may very well be the Millenium kit! My other issue is the software EZ Drummer 2 which I was looking at, problem is I don't have a desktop pc or laptop, I just have an Amazon Fire Kindle 10 inch tablet ...... ive been trying to Google whether I would be able to use the Kindle to connect the drum sound software to the edrums? ..... would you happen to know at all?! Great drumming BTW...... couldn't tell you were a beginner, advanced maybe but definitely not a beginner!! 😁👏
Hey Nick! Thanks, I really appreciate it! As for your question - I don't think you'll be able to use the EZ Drummer with Kindle, as it is available only for Mac OS and Windows.
Awwww you're welcome, credit where credit is due! 👌 ..... Thank you for the prompt reply! My only option is to either purchase a laptop then 🙈 ...... or ask my wife nicely to use her laptop & store the software on an external hard drive if that works! Many Thanks, keep up the great drumming! 😁👍
Great video, do I need an external audio interface/card to run this rig in order to reduce lantency, or I can do it just with drumset/PC/Reaper and SSD 5.5 plugin for example.
Hi, thanks! I don't think you need an external audio, you should be able to connect it directly to the pc via usb, and there shouldn't be any latency, as the signal goes straight into the daw. Notice that I'm using "think" and "should" - I haven't used the ssd plugin, so can't say with 100% certainty, but it makes sense to think that it's gonna work the same as the ez drummer in reaper :)
That's a great video man. Thanks for sharing. The kit looks pretty tinny. How tall are you? Asking because I'm 1,93 tall and height adjustments is important. Thank you
Hi Ruben, thanks! Yeah, the set is definitely on the smaller side, but still very comfortable to play. I'm 1,96, and I didn't have to raise the toms bar to the max. Btw, the max height of the middle bar is 75cm.
Hi! I just bought the same e-drum set but there is no sound coming out. The default headphones HP SIX does not fit in “phones” plug-in and without any headphones also I cannot hear when I play. Do I have to use the software and connect with it first?
Hi, congrats on a new set! I didn't get the headphones, so I don't know about the connection - it's a standard 6.35mm in the module. Maybe you got a 3.5mm connector with your headphones. You don't need to connect the drumset to the computer, it should work with the headset only.
I think you should be fine with just a standard UK 3-pin plug. The adapter is 110-240V. As for the height - yes, I’m on a taller side, so I had to lift it up pretty much as high as it goes :)
@@milanmandich thanks for the info thats useful. aha I only mentioned the height because Im also very tall, + female proportions so it makes me as leggy as a 6'4 bloke And evey affordable ekit I tried out say ~10 years ago the rack were was too low that I just gave up on the idea of ekits. But looking again now.
Kinda :) I mean, don't get me wrong, it doesn't sound bad, it's just - once you start using EZ/Superior - the other presets (not just Millenium) simply aren't a match. Again, just my opinion.
Hi, I'm not 100% sure if I got it right, but there are three different midi notes when you play the hi-hat - open, closed, and kinda in between. However, it still simulates the real hi-hat really well. I hope this helps.
Sir! Can u kindly pin the shopping site for me. Bcos i find lots of Thomann shopping site which might get me into scam. And will this be a good delivery to abroad contries as i was typing here in India?😊 btw I love the demonstration
Hi, here is the link to the Thomann’s official website in Germany: www.thomann.de/intl/millenium_mps_850_e_drum_set.htm I am not sure if they ship outside Europe, but you can give it a try. Good luck!
Unfortunately, I threw the box away, so I don’t really know. What I remember is that the height of the package was about 1.5m, and it was about 30-35kg, if that helps.
Hi drummer. I have a big request to you. I want to upload my videos to RUclips, where l am present an electronic set. Please, how to connect the kit to a computer? What minimum parameters must the pc contain and what program is suitable for recording my videos?Thx
Hi, first, you should connect your drum set to the computer using the usb cable. Then, make sure you have a computer that can run a Digital Audio Workstation (Reaper is a great choice for a cheap, reliable, but still robust DAW), and you should be set. As for the video recording, I personally use Adobe Premiere to edit my videos. I hope that helps.
Hi Erik, yes, Thomann ships to USA, however, as the package is over 31kg in weight, there could be some extra costs applied. This is a good start for exploring the costs: m.thomannmusic.com/helpdesk_shipping.html
Hi! I just bought this kit, but I’m running into a bug with the hi-hat controller (similar to this video: m.ruclips.net/video/2uA5798b0vc/видео.html). I haven’t been able to find a solution, I was wondering is you have experienced the same and maybe have a solution or any ideas?
Hi Basdev! I checked it on my end just now, and I've got no issues whatsoever :/ Two things I would try would be to lower the hi-hat pad so it sits right above the switch (the switch being that moving spring thingy on top of the hi-hat controller), as it's extremely sensitive. Also, make sure the hi-hat pedal goes all the way down when you press it. The sound switches to the semi-open hi-hat as soon as the pressure is relieved. Let me know if this helps, and good luck!
Hi, I can say that I am hitting the mesh and the cymbals quite hard when playing, and they seem to be just fine. However, my definition of hitting hard and yours may be very, very different :) I'd definitely allow for some adjustment time if you're just moving from the acoustic drum set to the e-drum.
It's a bit of a mixture - I'm a little bit on the taller side, and the kit is definitely a bit on the smaller side. Oh, and camera adds 10 pounds, or so they say! :)
Hi (love the nick, btw)! Unfortunately - not, the trigger inputs on this module and in this configuration are both taken by the additional crash and the tom :/
This is one of the best, very broad and descriptive review I seen on yt! Thank you 🙏

Hi, it's just a regular Ikea office chair - "Järvfjället" is the name of the model ;)
@@milanmandich ahh, okay, thanks! :)))
Is it possible to plug another bass drum pad? Maybe with some Y-splitter cable or something?
Hi, I’m not sure about the Y splitter, but the second input (talking about the 850 model) is taken by the third (ride by default) cymbal.
Either you're a giant or the kit is tiny / wide-angle camera?
:) A little bit of both - I am on a taller side, and the drum is more on the compact side
Thanks for the great review! What is the rack height of the kit?
Thanks, Antonis! The max height of the bar in the middle is 75cm, hope that helps ;)
@@milanmandich thank you! My height is 1.89m. Do you think that it ll be suitable?
@@Muzaoui8 For the reference, I'm 1.96
@@milanmandich Perfect! Thanks again!
I wouldn't recommend using the headset exclusively, because of health reasons, so here's what I'd get instead (assuming you've already got a PC, or a Mac):
1. A pair of near-field monitors (don't have to be insanely expensive - check out Adam, KRK, or Yamaha)
2. An external sound card (pretty much any Focusrite will do)
3. A pair of high-quality balanced monitor cables - to avoid noise
4. A USB extender
(if your computer is far from the drum set)
5. Digital Audio Workstation (Reaper, Ableton, Logic Pro...) - if you want to record your drums
6. Optional: Toontrack's EZ or Supperior Drummer - for the sound library
One important note: I can't recommend Thomann's support team enough - I contacted them a couple of times, and they were extremely quick and helpful with all of my queries, so if I missed something, I'm sure they would be able to help out.
Have fun playing the drums!
@@milanmandich Awesome man :) Thanks a lot for your time and detailed list, It is really helpful
Good video!
Hi!Any problem about the kick pedal?I have to hit roughly to hear the pad sound, the others are ok...
Hi Israel! Not really, sometimes, when I play I kinda can't hear it well, but it in the recording - it sounds ok.
@@milanmandich will try to set it up and start learning. Hvala brate :)
Sh*t, sorry, I thought you were from Ex-Yu :) Do you want me to write the response again in English?
That's a great video man. Thanks for sharing. The kit looks pretty tinny. How tall are you? Asking because I'm 1,93 tall and height adjustments is important. Thank you
Hi Ruben, thanks! Yeah, the set is definitely on the smaller side, but still very comfortable to play. I'm 1,96, and I didn't have to raise the toms bar to the max. Btw, the max height of the middle bar is 75cm.
@@milanmandich Thanks for you attention.
Yes great I found in the box now! Thanks a lot!:)
@@ecesuildz5344 Great, have fun! :)
A je to :)
Hey! I'm thinking about buying this kit. How is the latency? Is there any? Thanks!
Hi, I haven't noticed even the slightest latency with my setup, hope it works out the same for you ;)
MIlanče, hoće li biti još ovakvih videa :D
Vjerovatno hoce (slicnih), ali trenutno prevladava ljenost :D
if i setup the drums with reaper like you did, do i have to connect my headphones to my computer instead of the module?
Hi Arzzak, yes, either headphones (be careful), or speakers (healthier option) - connected to your computer ;)
Love the hat!
Do you know what power supply this has? Im in the UK so I'll need to get a different plug
also it looks like you need to raise your whole kit up a solid 30 cms 🤣
I think you should be fine with just a standard UK 3-pin plug. The adapter is 110-240V. As for the height - yes, I’m on a taller side, so I had to lift it up pretty much as high as it goes :)
@@milanmandich thanks for the info thats useful.
aha I only mentioned the height because Im also very tall, + female proportions so it makes me as leggy as a 6'4 bloke
And evey affordable ekit I tried out say ~10 years ago the rack were was too low that I just gave up on the idea of ekits. But looking again now.
Step 1: Buy Millenium MPS 850
Step 2: Never use the onboard sounds
Step 3: Buy Superior Drummer 3
Kinda :) I mean, don't get me wrong, it doesn't sound bad, it's just - once you start using EZ/Superior - the other presets (not just Millenium) simply aren't a match. Again, just my opinion.
@@milanmandich 100% with you on this. E-drum manufacturers are too proud/scared to cooperate with Toontrack because their own sounds suck sooo bad! :D
Have you tried the 850 with ezdrummer?
Hi Randy, I am using it exclusively with the EZdrummer :)
The sounds that come on the module if you could hit me back and let me know if they're satisfactory or not that would be great
They're all right, you can use them for gigs, but I would definitely recommend messing with the ezdrummer library for studio recording
@@milanmandich sir thank u for your time and input . Godbless you and all of yours Matthew Alan Kitchens 🤚
Hi, write me please total weight of this drum machine?
Hi, if I remember correctly, it was about 30kg, together with packaging.
hello, when using with plugin do you get only open and closet hihat positions or in between also?
Hi, I'm not 100% sure if I got it right, but there are three different midi notes when you play the hi-hat - open, closed, and kinda in between. However, it still simulates the real hi-hat really well. I hope this helps.
@@milanmandich thanks, have you tried to see with ez drummer plugin? or some other plugin if those three different midi notes work?
I'm only using the ez drummer, I haven't used any other plugins
@@milanmandich a ok thanks
Good luck!
Thanks . Btw can u plis tell me the size of the whole package/parcel in terms of length n girth?
Unfortunately, I threw the box away, so I don’t really know. What I remember is that the height of the package was about 1.5m, and it was about 30-35kg, if that helps.
Thanks alot
@@milanmandich Thank u.I will try that.Have a good day...
Beginner? Right!
Heh, luckily I haven't posted bloopers! :)
Can this drum set be shipped to USA?
Hi Erik, yes, Thomann ships to USA, however, as the package is over 31kg in weight, there could be some extra costs applied. This is a good start for exploring the costs: m.thomannmusic.com/helpdesk_shipping.html
It comes with two pedals?
Hi, nope, I bought these separately.
@@milanmandich okay thanks
How tall are you? This kit looks quite small
Hi, yeah, it's quite compact, but, for the reference, I'm 196cm (6.4ft)
Hi i am hesitating of buying this drum but i don’t know if it really is durable
Hi, I can say that I am hitting the mesh and the cymbals quite hard when playing, and they seem to be just fine. However, my definition of hitting hard and yours may be very, very different :) I'd definitely allow for some adjustment time if you're just moving from the acoustic drum set to the e-drum.
@@milanmandich is possible replace the meshes with new one? The reseller sell the replacement parts? Thx
Hi, I believe it is, as far as I know, Thomann offers them on their website, but double-check for yourself, just to be sure ;)
are the cymbals chokable?
Yes, but you should ask for permission first! :) Yes, they are, the motion needs a bit of getting used to though (sorry for the late reply :/)
either you're a giant or those drums are tiny!
It's a bit of a mixture - I'm a little bit on the taller side, and the kit is definitely a bit on the smaller side. Oh, and camera adds 10 pounds, or so they say! :)
is for children.... lookout the height
It really isn’t an honest review when using software like EZDrummer…
Does the module have any additional inputs if you wanted to add an additional cymbal?
Hi (love the nick, btw)! Unfortunately - not, the trigger inputs on this module and in this configuration are both taken by the additional crash and the tom :/
@@milanmandich ah good to know, thanks for the reply!
