People have been overreacting to this record and completely overlooking its brilliance as a work of cartoon art for almost a decade now and honestly, this was the record that really got me into Tyler in 2015 and is still absolutely my favorite. Yes, the production and some of the production choices are atrocious. But I think it gives this album character as it is an insane, over the place experience that does lack identity but embraces that. Mixing jazz, funk, soul, and punk into his signature gritty, overblown sound from Wolf and albums prior, Tyler really starts to show his influences on Cherry Bomb and portrays it through a crazy, entertaining roller coaster ride of a listen. As a Tyler fan since the early OFWGKTA days, this is one of my favorite albums of his as it is the bridge between his wild and immature early days to his blooming into Flower Boy and beyond.
