Liverpool was in a disarray when he came in. He brought back the fighting and winning mentality into that club, cleaned the swamp, brought in the right profile of players and took Liverpool to winning major trophies. All this while competing against another elite manager ( pep) in a state owned club with huge transfer spending.

Listen I’m a Newcastle fan but having watched Klopp’s video it was very emotional, very honest and very sad. He’ll be a massive loss to the game because tbh the game is slowly losing the real characters. Regardless of how much he wound up opposing supporters he will always be remembered as a true icon of the Premier League even though he only won four cups in nearly 10 years…. One positive note is that at least Newcastle might have a chance of beating Liverpool now he’s off to play golf for a year or two. Good luck and best wishes Jurgen in whatever you choose to do. I actually see an interview the other day.. maybe. Week ago or so… Alonso was actually being waged to take over as manager at some point in the future… obviously he is doing well in his current managerial roll but apparently he was alway predicted to succeed as a Manager because of his tactical brain and passion with game plan and captaincy roll…..this may come as no surprise to people that know him well but can’t get over this coincidence… gerrard.. one if the most legendary Liverpool players ever won’t work and I’d hate to see his legacy dented from a romantic managerial decision… should always stay linked with the club but not as manager…. Klopp's announcement was perfectly timed. Look at it. We are in a good place, the shock of it will subside and allow us to recover ourselves going into the final stage of the season. The emotion will lift us as a club and fanbase to push the team to try and win everything. The players will want to give everything to send Klopp off in style and make a positive impression for the next incoming manager.
Rivals will be gloating and expecting chaos and a chance to take advantage. They may be surprised with our reaction to all this. It was the right time to call it, trust me. You'll see at the end of the season.

I think Klopp is doing what's best for him and best for the club insofar that he knows he doesnt have the energy he once had. If he stayed on he wouldnt be able to be the manager he wants to be or that the club needs. I say this as a chelsea fan who isnt looking forward to seeing him at the final

Liverpool never understood our best Captain Stevie G and even spoke ill of him when he decided to leave and now people having a problem with Jurgen announcing the retirement his way, timing was right wrong, that and this. Just stop and put yourself in Jurgens shoes aswell, cant just bully everyone to stay in Liverpool forever like we did with poor Stevie. Im glad Gaffer was honest enough to tell us "look I cant give 100% anymore and 99 wouldn't be enough and a club like Liverpool deserves more", we can sit there and tell him that his 50% would be enough for us or what 99% of other managers may offer but its also about 'him' and everything can't just be about us and our club. Poor Jurgen even said "I need to know what life is like outside from football". All good and bad things come to an end, nothing can go on forever. UP THE REDS

Klopp always said he wants to leave the club in a better way than he began. He also prioritised new signings that were of a younger age- he has had this in mind for a while i think. And leaving after last season perhaps wasnt right for him and maybe he wanted to make sure he left the club in the right way

I think it was inevitable that they had to announce his departure before the end of the season in fear of it being leaked, there’s a seismic change happening with sporting director and coaches also leaving also I’m sure their talking with other managers in the background so there was way of keeping quite till the end of the season.

The evidence available suggests that it's a bad thing, fergie himself said it was one of the biggest mistakes he ever made to announce his retirement with a season still to play In 2001, he had to change his mind mid-season. We'll see how it plays out, either way it will be interesting

Klopp made the premier league exciting in that he was the only one going toe to toe with City, pushing them to the wire. I respect his decision as football is not life and death and he doesn't have to prove himself. He wants a life now to wake up in the morning and walk the dog, to jump on a plane a travel with his wife anytime of the year. He will definitely pick up at least one trophy this year. We don't need to be ill to retire in fact in makes sense to quit whilst your healthy to enjoy life

To DR Sports @03:10 Bob Paisley announced his retirement in 1983 during the season and Liverpool won the league that season. After flopping in the league in 1981, Paisley dispensed with many senior players and blooded Bruce Grobbelaar, Mark Lawrenson, Steve Nicol, Ronny Whelan, Ian Rush and Craig Johnston. All of those guys were around the age of 21 and all went on to become legends. Klopp was set to do something similar but he's leaving. The big difference between the Paisley situation and Klopp is the backroom staff stayed, they were Liverpool people. Will be interesting to see what happens with a new manager and new coaching staff. That means different methods, training and philosophy. That could prove to be a problem.
For me the reason Klopp was a success is because he incorporated a playing style and philosophy which was similar to the successful 1980s teams. Neither Houllier nor Benitez played football in what I would call the Liverpool way.

It's that simple and clear. 😢😊
