In 2015 I was at rock bottom in my life. Got divorced a few years before, lost my job and basically attempted to end my life on a couple occasions. Then Jurgen Klopp came to Liverpool, the way he spoke and the way he shined positivity all around the club gave me hope that I could turn my life around. Without him I wouldn’t be here. I needed a father figure to say the right things and make me believe that anything is possible. To say I’m devastated is an understatement, this man will never know how much he means not just to me but to every single Liverpool supporter. Love you Jurgen ❤️ YNWA
I hear you! Me and my dead grandpa never really saw eye to eye. But the one thing that we shared an unbreakable bond is Jurgen klopp. Now that my grandpa passed away, this was one of my last memory's I had with him.

I haven't stopped crying. he signed when I was 17. My life with all its up and downs since then has had one constant. Liverpool football club and more importantly the big man Jurgen Klopp. I haven't allowed him to carry my happiness in the palm of his hands. Trusted fully that he would take care of it. Im devastated and so so grateful. I love you Jurgen. Thank you for everything you have done for my club.

I lost my father just under two years ago, the amount of memories we have of watching this team, and the admiration for Klopp is genuinely off the scale, we watched countless games and took in so many incredible moments together, and it's all down to Klopp😂 how sad is that? I'm tearing up just writing this. Jeez. Thanks to Klopp I will always have these memories of my dad and I cannot thank you enough.

Such a moving and touching post, Lawrence, both as a tribute to Klopp, and also to your father. I feel that I have personally entered my own period of mourning with regards this morning's announcement. There are millions of LFC fans around the world , and even from other clubs, who can 100% relate to you. I will always thank Klopp for making us believe, and for setting the foundations for future success. No LFC manager has had such a close personal bond with the fans, community and world football, than Jurgen Klopp. I thank him now, and I will thank him again the day he eventually departs. But, until then, let's back Klopp, enjoy the next 28 or so matches, and get fully behind the team. God bless you all.

I remeber when Shanks did it, when Bob did it, when Kenny did it and this is JUST as immense. Jurgen'll be placed in the same cabinet as ALL the greatest Liiverpool greats and we'll ALL talk about his time here with the same unconditional affection but his job's NOT done yet.
Let's not say "goodbye" until the end of the season and support him and the club TOTALLY until then.

I was a Liverpool fan growing up in Manchester in a time where we seen Man United dominate the league. Always hearing about Liverpool's glory days of the 70s and 80s but never knowing what that felt like. Jurgen Klopp showed me and many other younger Liverpool fans what that is like. Forever grateful and will always appreciate what he has done for us.

I feel you Lawrence, I'm 25 now and for most of my teen/adult life Jurgen was coaching Liverpool, since high school and through university, and now working a full-time job I walked this journey with him and saw him build something special. Sharing unforgettable moments of triumph and painful defeats, and watching the team grow under his leadership. I will be counting the days and remaining fixtures until the last one this season. Very grateful for everything he's done at the club. It's been a great journey!

Man I really have no idea how to handle this. 10 years ago I needed something more in my life, I was flat, I had no aspirations, I was confused about what I would be in the future. I started watching more football, and found myself attached to Jurgen and his squad at Dortmund. I loved every second of each match I saw. I loved the atmosphere, I loved the spectacle, it let me feel emotions I didn't realize I had been repressing.
When Klopp announced he was leaving Dortmund, I was at a crossroads. I was finishing High School, and I didn't see a future for myself in further education. I saw my path very rapidly diverging from my peers. I had begun to find solace in watching Klopp lead his team, whether it was a good day or a bad day for me or the squad, it always served as an outlet that I couldn't find in normal life. Now that very personal ritual was being upended - just as my life was rapidly evolving.
Ten years before, I was in Paris with family on vacation on the night of the CL final in Istanbul. I fell asleep before the match kicked off. I wasn't even ten years old, an American kid who played Soccer but didn't have any love for professional clubs. When I woke up the next morning, I don't think I had ever seen my Dad so animated. He regaled our family with the story of the match - Milan had scored three, Liverpool had their backs against the wall. The comeback, the double save in extra time, Dudek's ('The Dude,' he affectionately called him) wobbly legs and becoming the hero in the shootout. My dad wasn't an LFC fan, he really wasn't a fan of any sports team. He loves tales of fighting back against impossible odds, he loves stories that help us understand our own humanity. It was the first time I saw sport as more than a game - in certain moments sport became an allegory for meaning itself.
When Jurgen announced he was coming to LFC that memory rushed back into my brain. I was certain then that I would support Jurgen, and LFC, and the journey they took together until they could go no further. Today, I learned the limits of where that journey could go. I struggle to think of where I go from here. For now I reflect on the memories, and of all the wonderful moments, and of all the tragedies, and of the songs, and of the goals.
I love Jurgen Klopp. Football hasn't been the biggest part of my life. It took a while for me to 'get it'.
Growing up I knew my family supported Liverpool, I knew my mates all had their own teams. But I never understood that emotional connection.
Why it ruined moods or gave people such wide smiles. The pride some felt when behind their team at the stadium or watching at home.
I kept up with football and more specifically Liverpool into the 2010s but it was when Rogers was sacked and I took an intrigue into the potential candidates.
The two main ones being Ancelotti & Klopp. Ancelotti having the success he did made me believe he was the obvious choice. But he wasn't the favorite surprisingly to me.
This German man who had just had one of if not his worst season in management and left his previous club Dortmund was the favorite. This peaked my interest.
So I proceeded to learn what I could about this mans career, from his playing career to his managerial career, from Mainz to Dortmund. Very quickly I learned why he was the favorite. He was the ideal manager for the job. You couldn't have written a more fitting manager for Liverpool at the time. So when he was announced I put my faith in him.
I put my faith in Klopp. I found myself day by day, game by game, emotionally investing in him. I loved what I was seeing from my team but now I felt what I imagine everyone else who watches football feels watching their club.
I 'got it'.
Klopp made believe, Klopp dared me to dream. Klopp made those dreams a reality.
Klopp gave me Football.
As an Arsenal fan I’m not here to mock this sort of emotion. Football is more than just a game. It brings out emotions because it’s so intertwined with our life and moments we have in it. The part about your dad hit me. I lost mine in 2021. One of our finals memories together was watching Arsenal win the Fa Cup in 2020 during covid. I knew it would be the last time I would ever watch us win something together as he had months to live. To this day when I watch Arsenal play I think of him and long to be able to share this new era with him. Klopp has given Liverpool fans some unbelievable memories and anyone who mocks this sort of emotion clearly doesn’t understand football. Good luck to him whatever he does next. A true legend of the game, who I’m privileged to have witnessed his great teams play in the flesh.
I feel pathetic crying over a football manager, but I’m crying. When you’re in the middle of it you don’t realise how good you’ve got it. Klopp is more than football. He’s a great man. I think it’s the timing and the shock of the situation that’s adding to the the emotional response. No one will ever replace Klopp. Klopp is Liverpool. Erect the statue! Rename the new stand!
He gave us our pride back. You're not the only grown man shedding tears today, I can promise you that. These are the days of our lives, he gave us some great ones. To see him leave too soon is difficult. What will happen is the sadness will fade and the great days will remain. We can just be thankful for what he gave us.

I honestly think this hits so hard because not only are we losing who can only be considered the Best Football manager of modern times but, as a man he is so universally loved by many because he is just such an awesome awesome guy, a truly warm, funny and humble human being. I honestly believe the world itself needs people like Jürgen, he showed many people even those not invested in Football, that rivalry is good and it's not about hatred, it's about being the best you can be, he showed us that it's right to fight for what you believe in, he showed us that regardless of how hard you try you might fail, sometimes because of things out of your control and that is ok too, you just keep trying again. He really is a true Legend of the Football world, it's a word that is often now overused but in his case Legend is not a strong enough description ❤
All the moments when Klopp has celebrated with the players on the pitch, from winning finals to Lallana and Mané scoring and him running on the pitch to Ali and celebrating in jubilation, it’s those moments of passion that worry me. Nobody else can bring that energy and personality. I started watching the year he signed, so he’s been soccer for me. He’s all I’ve known and I love him like a father in many ways. He’s a great coach, a great man, and I hope the liverpool faithful and media let him have peace. Congratulations Klopp, a lot left of the season, can’t way to see it out with him.
I am a 59 year old grizzled old man. I listened to the Klopp video walking around Tesco and nearly broke down in tears a couple of times. 10 years ago I apologised to my son for brainwashing him into supporting Liverpool. Klopp changed that and showed him why I love the club and wanted him too as well. Seen all the glory years at Liverpool and Klopp is a bonafide Liverpool legend who is impossible to replace There is not another Klopp out there sadly. Klopp made me a Liverpool fan. Not because the team won a lot of games but because his style of football is beautiful, and he himself is class in every aspect of the word. I watched Liverpool v. Man City at Anfield on October 3, 2021, and conceived my son in Liverpool later that night. Obviously, I never tell anyone this in person, but Liverpool gave me the one thing I love the most in this world.
Im greek. I was supporting Liverpool since 2003. I quit watching football in general in 2009 I think,cause greek football was so corrupt it was bad for my health!
I started watching football again when Klopp came to Liverpool! He is vicariously,the father I never had! I'm really sad but also I'm happy cause even his departure is a lesson,a reminder to enjoy every moment,to respect people around you, to give your 100%! Thank you Jurgen!

The timing of this is absolutely key and points to Klopp taking a gambit into giving his final push every momentum it need to succeed. The politics, the clauses, the state of rival clubs. It actually makes sense that the announcement has to be now. Klopp and Liverpool would not detail their own season after working so hard. This is the biggest play of the season and to put the pieces in place for a beautiful future. Thank you Klopp and lets make some more beautiful memories this season. Woke up at 3 AM on the US West Coast and been awake since. This is such sad news. Jurgen is the identity of what LFC is today. This is difficult to take and we must support him and our beloved club with new level of passion. Make every minute count.
He is burnt out and needs a break because he was made like a slave with the budget he was given by the tight fisted FSG.
In 2017 through to 2020 I was at my worst. On the brink of ending my own life and as stupid as it sounds, Liverpool playing well kept me going through week by week. Klopp has had such an impact on me from the opposite side of the world. I’ll never forget the joy he and the team behave brought to my life.

I am absolutely devastated by this news. Still can't believe this incredible human being is truly leaving the club. He is irreplaceable in every aspect. Extremely proud of everything he has done for the club. I sat in my car and cried this morning before heading into work. I think what makes it so hard is because he is such a special person, not just a coach. My favorite moment would 100% be the upset at home to BARCA to then go on and win the champions league. My favorite memory of klopp has to be when he first came and said, "It doesn't matter what people think of you when you get here, It's what they think of you after you've left." Aside from the trophies my best Klopp memories will be the sheer quality of football we witnessed between 2018-20. I remember saying to my friend that we were so lucky to see Liverpool playing at that level and just needed to drink it in and enjoy it. His legacy is already epic but I hope he can bow out with some more silverware. Thank you Jurgen for the memories. Absolute legend.

I was 11 when Jürgen Klopp became the Liverpool FC manager. I’ve had to deal with a lot of problems in that time due to autism and mental illness. There have been many times where I’ve felt like giving up or I felt like I couldn’t do certain things. Jürgen Klopp and the mentality of this Liverpool team represent courage and determination to carry on. I always recall when he said that ‘it’s probably impossible. But because it’s you, we have a chance.’ Jürgen Klopp will always be intertwined in my memory with my adolescence and will represent the ability to succeed in the face of seemingly impossible odds. I’ll also always think about how, even in dark times, growth and change is happening. The success following the 2 bad seasons we had proved that.
My grandad used to talk to me for hours about Shankly and the Liverpool players from that era. If I have the opportunity, I’ll certainly be doing the same about Klopp, everything he represented and the art and drama he created on the pitch.

I have struggled with depression a lot over the last ten years, and Klopp's Liverpool and Klopp himself have been a light in some very dark times. Not just the finals and trophies and titles, but also the times when things weren't great and Klopp bounced back, kept going, kept believing, and made all of us believe too.
Klopp kept his promise to leave Liverpool FC better than he found it, but I wonder if he knows how much better off some of us are as human beings because of him. I hope so. YNWA.

Pretty much the same reaction many of us have had. And for many, I think this hits harder than expected. I think it's fair to say there's few things in life that generate the same passion football does and it's a regular shot of this passion too. A bad result can ruin a day, can sour a whole week, a great result gives such elation, it's a legal high so to speak.
With Klopp, he quickly developed a warm familiarity with the club, the fans and the City, he 'got what Liverpool was all about', he seemed to become a father figure as well as a manager but most of all, we could all soon see what he was developing and we were 100% invested in the project. We all knew this would not last forever of course, but we all expected Klopp to see out his current contract to 2026 whilst looking forward to this new and exciting Liverpool 2.0. There were even rumours he would extend.
So this announcement has an impact of shock, I caught myself mouthing 'wtf' as I clicked on a news feed realising it was not clickbait, then immediately think 'no, this cannot be right' and finally feeling my heart sink when finally working out this was true. Shankly once said "Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious than that". And oddly, this feels like a kind of bereavement, but perhaps it's not odd as we are losing a manager Liverpool fans love, a man who we see as part of our family and someone who has given us so much success and so many great memories.
I think most of us can some it up by stating one word; 'Gutted'

2020 was a terrible year for me. Had problems with my job, just broken up, was broke, and let's not forget the doom and gloom about the pandemic. There was just one ray of hope, and that was Liverpool's title charge and eventual victory. Inspite of coming close the previous year.
Klopp did not just change doubters into believers for himself and the team. He He changed my own self doubt into self belief.
Can't say anything more about myself, but Jurgen Klopp in a funny way was one of my cheerleaders without him knowing it.

I haven’t been watching Liverpool for too long now. I only started watching during the World Cup bit I’ve hardly missed a game since. However I’ve been a fan my whole life. My dad was a fan so I was too. This is one of the things im most grateful for from him. As long as I can remember he’s been the man in charge. The German leading this great club day in day out. I am Grateful! I spent the last year in the USA on an exchange year. I managed to Gert my host dad into football. This is the primary reason we keep in touch. We talk about the premier league together. If it wasn’t for Klopp I don’t think I would have been able to build this connection with this who I’ve so dearly locked into my Heart. From the deepest of my Heart. Thank You! Thank you for reigniting my love for the Game, thank you for creating some my happiest memories and thank you for for allowing me to build a connection with people that might otherwise not happened like this. End of an era. Klopp is Liverpool and Liverpool is Klopp. So many memories - I didn’t know whether I would ever see my Club win another league title until Jurgen. My life, like many others, has been horrible over the last few years - caring for my girlfriend with cancer, COVID, work stress. Through all this, Klopp gave me an exciting and successful team to follow … it was something to hold on to
The first thing that springs to mind is that home game against Dortmund in the Europa League. I'm obviously aware that there's been possibly bigger wins since then, but it was that game that made me realise that we were certainly on to something magical with Klopp. As fans we sometimes obsess over trophies and accolades a bit too much, because in reality, it's the moments that are the most satisfying of all. Like Loz said, the team will probably carry on as normal and still win things, but as a man, Klopp so authentic. You could never replace that
He's our manager, mentor, mate, father figure, leader. Gives the players, and us a kick up our arse when we needed it. Speaks lots of sense when the whole world dont seem to apply it. Other managers are great managers, but our Jurgen. Well, hes just a great human being who just happens to be the manager of our football club.
Well, I am sure he'll have a massive success around the leadership / motivational speaking circuit. I'd pay good money to listen and learn from that man!
From the moment ive read this i feel so lost. I am in a stage of rebuilding in my life as well and the last 7-8 years weren't pwrfect or even great but whenever I felt low and down I could comfortably say "hey, at least my club aren't doing that badly. If they can overcome the enormous struggles that life throws at them, I can too. Keep your head up!" And Klopp was a huge humongous part of that. He brings such belief in you when the chips are down that its hard to stop tears from streaming down my face right now as I write this. I would miss him so much and I would do everything I can in my life to achieve a certain degree of stature before he leaves our club. Because its going to be so hard to not fall back on Liverpool afterwards. I dont even know what I am saying but yeah, YNWA

The champions league win was the one for me. I was living on Seoul, had just got married and was in a bar packed with spurs(Son) fans at 5am to watch us go on and win. What a time.
I was going through some torrid times at the start of the Klopp years. I had a horrid time in an abusive relationship, struggled with addiction, and contemplated suicide.
During the Klopp years, I completely rebuilt my life. I got out of that relationship, got clean, changed careers, and really worked hard on myself.
It’s so hard to uncouple that from my experience of watching Liverpool under Klopp. There were some dark days for me that were made bright by Klopp and his Liverpool teams.

Memory for me. Look for "6 mins of Klopp" that they did when we won the champions League. This sums up the man and Liverpool under him for me.
Its a bitter sweet medley of emotions; the end of a great television show, the last page of a book. The fact that we have not reached the last page but we know the ending. This sadness we are feeling is the juxtaposition of the positivity around the club and it cuts deep because its ending in a positive way.
I think Laurence's reaction is similar for all of us. And I think that allows us to now FULLY understand the statement that Jurgen made when he came here:
"It's not important what people think when you come in but what they think when you leave..."

I will never forget Klopp's smile watching the Kop End erupt in the anthem after that Barcelona game... that will likely forever be my favourite football game of all time and he is responsible for that along with so many other memories. I will miss him so much, what a manager but more importantly what a man. A father figure to the players for sure but i fell even for many fans watching from the side-lines. YNWA

The contract threw me.. this hurts man when he was at Dortmund and we were in the midst of roy then Rodgers he was the only manager I wanted and we ended up getting him. It's been a beautiful wonderful time but it's hard to process it's going to be over now. I love that man and have nothing but respect for him and he was the only person that could have done what he has with us.
That anfield roar when we went 2-0 up in the home game vs Chelsea in 2020 was my favourite moment as a fan. My favourite Jurgen moment was the wba home game when we drew 2-2 and he made those players celebrate with the fans in what felt like a loss, and that embodies everything that man has done for us, absolute positivity and optimism in a time of despair. Laurence, I cried every tear with you and feel the same feelings. Jurgen's humanity is so unparalleled for me. He is the father of LFC in the 21st century. God bless him. My daughter bought me tickets for Sunday's match yesterday. My first ever visit to Anfield after so many years of wishing I could get there - a dream come true. Little did I know it would be the first match after this devastating news.
My father and his father are why we are a Red family. His was an Anfield family. He was born on Faraday Street about 10 minutes from the ground, in 1928. His father took him to his first match in 1932. On the Kop, he could not see, so entertained himself collecting wet matches off the floor!
Years and a war later, they had progressed to season rickets in the Main Stand. In my happiest match-going years, we'd meet on match day at my grandparents flat in what is now the Anfield Hotel. My Uncle would head to Annie Road end, I'd go on the Kop and my father and Pop would go to their seats in the Main stand. Over the years, Lawrence became Clemence. St John became Keegan, Highway became John Barnes and Shankly became Paisley. We won the fucking lot.
My dad died last year, aged 94. Still razor sharp, but his eyes weren't too good. I am so grateful that he got to see Jurgen put us back on that fucking perch. It meant so much to him, and therefore meant so much to us all.
Liverpool Football Club has been the glue, and the oil in my family for almost a century. It has given us experiences and joys, highs and a few lows, that our dispersed family can all enjoy and reminisce about.
I am so grateful that my dad saw us become again a force in football. I would have given anything it took to let us all enjoy that together, once again. Thanks to Kloppo.

Klopp and his team have got me through my son being diagnosed with autism. I’m not saying it’s the only thing that’s got me through obviously. But klopp making this Liverpool team what it’s become and all the memories of winning all those competitions have me unbelievable lifting moments while I was trying to come to terms with my son and this huge life changing thing for my family. Laurence, I understand you and the feelings you are going through. I am a Liverpool fan who lives in Turkey, has never been to England, and has only watched Liverpool in the stadium once in his life (Adriaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnn 2019 super cup game in Istanbul).
For a figure so inspiring that Jürgen Klopp makes you watch his press conferences every week. I support Liverpool, but what makes me so passionate is that aura he creates and the inspiration it gives to my life. Listening and watching him every week literally changes your perception of life. He is that powerful.

As an American, when I was going into uni, I needed a club to support. I saw many highlights of Stevie G, and thus I started following Liverpool. The day Klopp took over, I was very excited. The day I fell in love with Liverpool was getting up early on my birthday to see them comeback 5-4 against Norwich. Crazy scenes. Been hooked ever since. It won't be the same without Jürgen, but he had me head over heels since the start!

one of my favourite Klopp moments: was it last season when he got a red card at some point, or another game when he was screaming at the fourth official?... and afterwards he said something like: "I should have been sent off just for the look on my face." It's not just the passion, the emotion, the commitment, the love. It's his ability to be self-critical, to laugh at himself, to be genuinely humble and funny. To give his absolute all but still to have perspective about himself, about the important things in life. The reason we are here, the (only real?) reason football matters: because of the potential for beauty, for togetherness, for these transcendent moments. What he said to the team before beating Barcelona 4-0: "Because it's you, we have a chance." Not because it's him. Because of what he could give and awaken in the players and the fans.
The way you feel Lawrence is the way I feel right now.. he was a shining light in my darkest of times, he gave me hope and strength when I needed it the most.. I remember broken on my kitchen floor.. I’d lost my job, I had left the army the year before I was struggling to re adjust.. my fiends were hundreds of miles away.. I remember watching a press conference and he was just smiling and laughing and i remember just laughing for the first time in years..
he turned into this father figure, I just grabbed hold of his strength and passion.. and thanks to him I met the girl of my dreams, I got married and became a dad in his time.. I’m an American. I only got into football after watching the World Cup in 2022. Beautiful final, beautiful game. Two of my best friends are United fans. But in December 2022, I decided to just watch the Premier League and see which team spoke to me. I had no idea about previous accomplishments, winning the title & Champions League, had no idea who Salah or Allison were at the time. But even an out of form Liverpool team, with Klopp in the press conferences, spoke to me. I saw how the fan base rallied together online. And it just made sense for me to support this club. I’m insanely overjoyed by how we’ve done this season, even throughout summer signing fiascos & refereeing issues, and even in success, the fan base and Klopp never changed. True mentality monsters. The words, you’ll never walk alone, are most evident now in times of struggle. I came to watch this channel because I have no one else to talk Liverpool with in my circle in America. Some of the best moments I have with my dad is watching Liverpool livestream, sharing the celebrations. Its about the only bonding activity we both have here in the states, God I wish he would extend cause it would mean so much for me and my dad to go and see them play.
