    I like how u keep things simple and how you explain on how it’s done. I’ve always played good golf but would have pull shots or thin shots. I’ve never would take divots and when I did they were right of my target so I decided to video myself and I never knew I was an early extender. So now I’m working really hard to swing correctly and it’s very hard to get out of this habit and thanks to you I’m progressing slowly but surely. ?????????? DO YOU DO LESSONS? I know I couldn’t afford it but it would be the best day of my life if I could spend a hole day with you working on my swing then playing a round of golf.

    I watched a video of myself and realized, after putting video of Adam Scott next to it, that I do indeed have a slight early extension. And I hit it fat A LOT. When I started working on shaft lean I began topping it as well. Something I've rare done. My issue is, when attempting to keep the "butt on the wall" throughout, I find it really difficult to open up my hips on the way down. So it's hard to post up on the left leg and get it to straighten after impact

    does it make sense that as a golfer with some lower back issues, that playing it a ball up from the middle of my stance helps me stay back on it and actually hit it higher? ... even with wedges I feel that in the middle of my stance my impact position is very steep

    • @WhittierStables
      @WhittierStables 2 года назад

      If you lag, like Aimee says, your impact won't be steep even at mid-stance. Most people (and pros for that matter) don't realize that when you play the ball forward in the stance, you subconsciously tend to grip it "weaker" (like the Hogan grip) and when you play it back, you subconsciously grip it "stronger" (causing more shaft lean). Since in your experience, when you play it back, you hit it "very steep", playing it forward automatically makes you grip it weaker, which exposes the bounce, gives you more time before impact to develop speed and gives you a bigger release causing higher shots that go farther. However, if you did what Aimee says you would deloft the club and hit the ball on a vector more towards the target, less up, more energy directed towards the target. So, using either method the ball, if correctly hit, would goes farther in either case. This is why tour players hit it far when they both hit moon balls and also boring shots. The lower trajectory is more boring, the higher trajectory shot is a bigger swing, bigger arc, and bigger release. This is but one of many, many examples of why the King of Golf Arnold Palmer said, "Swing your swing. I know. I did."

    Aim point is having bottom of club glance the ground forward of the ball.
    Ball just gets in the way, and you hit the ball first.

      Muscles don't have a memory, it's the brain that works the muscles. A new motor pathway needs to be established for any changes to a swing, requiring thousands of 'correct' repetitions to ingrain into that pathway. If not the swing will inevitably return to the default swing which is not what we are after. Hope this is taken in the way it is intended.
