  • A short video demonstrating the run time of my new Jackery 500 running a 12 volt 37 quart ARB Refrigerator. Was pleased to see that after 24 hours the Jackery wasn't even down to 50%.

    I have an ARB frig/freezer that is 19 years old and it's still running like it did when it was new. I also use the Jackery 500 and it runs the frig for days. I can get it down to 5° and keep food frozen solid. And that is without an insulating blanket. The Jackery and the ARB were made for each other. Both are great pieces of equipment.

      Agreed. My daughter took it last weekend camping. I may have lost them both to her, she loved them.

      @@gregghershberger7968 I understand your daughter's likes. I have two sons who 'borrowed' a lot of camping gear over the years from me. We were a tent camping family and since we all are still tent camping, I'm in my 70's, I just bought replacement equipment for myself as it's a compliment that they too enjoy it. And, by the way, your video is excellent. Thank you for posting it.

    I assume that your environment is temperature controlled. Assuming it is I wonder if you were camping in a hot environment how much of a difference it would make? would the compressor on the refrigerator need to run longer and more often to maintain the internal temperature? what was in your refrigerator when you did this test? would it make a difference if you had a full refrigerator, half full or empty? lots of variables that could change the outcome of this test. Anyway thank you for doing this test and sharing your results.

    I have the ARB 37 quart classic freezer I have 190 W go power solar panel on top of my camper shell which is charging a 1500 W Biolite base charge Power Station and turns off at night it’s not lasting all night you’re saying years is lasting all the time is it’s because I’m using it as a freezer and have it at 20° thank you

    I see what looks like a Bluetti back there. Have you tried the same experiment with It? We in California have periodic PG&E blackouts during fire season and I’m always looking for some thing “just in case“. Of course we’ve always got the Travato if we get desperate, but it’s not parked in front of our condo, it’s up the hill in the RV lot. So the convenience factor isn’t quite there. :)

      I started but it is so strong I ran my 12 volt ARB fridge at our off grid cabin for three days on it and it never showed any loss of power at all. It is amazing, more than I needed but good to have for emergencies.

    • @TrishBenedict
      @TrishBenedict 3 года назад

      @@gregghershberger7968 I was toying with the idea of getting a Bluetti for the Travato as a cheaper alternative to installing lithium and new inverter, tho the dearth of floor space in a G is a problem, so I ditched that idea. But at 1/3 the cost of a Bluetti, the Jackery would be quite competent for a power outage.
      Thanks for the info!

    Advice needed please. I am a newbie with solar and these portable power stations. We are doing a two month long camping trip using a van where we will be basically living out of it without ever using any kind of shore power. We live in Idaho and will be traveling into the backcountry of BC, Canada on this trip. I bought a 12V portable fridge and a Acopower 100W 12V monocrystalline solar panel. I only have room on the roof for one 100W solar panel because I have 2 cargo boxes. Just ordered a BLUETTI EB55 Portable Power Station 537Wh. We drive a lot, at least a little bit each day. We don’t plan on using the battery for anything other than the fridge, as we have a generator for powering everything else. Any help would really be helpful. This newbie would really appreciate any ideas/input!

      You should be fine if only using it to power the fridge, especially if you are driving everyday and have 100 watts solar. Have a great trip.

    I accidentally found out that the Jackery will turn itself off after 12 hours if whatever unit you have plugged in is drawing less than 10 watts in a 12 hour time span. I have been testing another fridge /freezer for almost 2 weeks and it happened to me twice. The freezer is very efficient and would only draw between 1 to two watts, especially since I would adjust the temperature by 2º. It is now at 58% after 41 hours and temp is at 24º

Can you plug the fridge in to cigarette lighter while charging jackery? Will it kill van battery..motor battery...also I'm in florida..ITS HOT..NO A/C IN VAN

      You can run your fridge while charging the Jackery. The Jackery will run your fridge for about two days and you can take it down to about 10% if need be.

      It will run a fan, but look at how many watts the fan you have or are going to buy uses per hour, then you can figure out how long the 500 watt Jackery will run it before needing charged.

  • @zak2u2

    I came to see how long the refrigerator would run. And then you changed horses in the middle of the race arbitrarily deciding to hook up a light. You should have finished the time trial with the refrigerator so we would know how long it would last if we were camping without solar panels. Plugging in the light just proved a light would run but since you didn't even do that from the beginning, it tells us nothing. Oh well. I'll look elsewhere.
