I'm going to add something to your troubleshooting process. My Frigidare was sporadic on draining. Sometimes it would drain it all, sometimes the whole bottom would have an inch, sometimes, just the center would have water. Sometimes the water was clean, sometimes still cloudy.
So, I figured the drain pump was going bad. Ordered one from Amazon at 1/3 cost of OEM and replaced it. Worked great right out of the box. Next day, once again, water standing in the bottom. Kept researching and found someone suggesting to make sure the hose was clear where it entered the P-Trap. Took that hose loose, poked around with a screw driver, nothing there.
Put it back together, sometimes worked, sometimes didn't. Today, took off P-trap and found debris in here. In fact, found a metal elbow fitting, like would be on the input side of the dishwasher. This had to have been there for 30 years! Removed it but wasn't satisfied that that was the issue. I am sure this was causing some issues with slow draining but couldn't be the whole problem. My dishwasher draining issue had really become a problem in the past 2 weeks.
Went back to the drain connection at the dishwasher, removed the hose and this little black rubber piece fell out, all deformed. Started looking into this and discovered it is a back flow prevention flapper. Cost about $10 on Amazon. It's purpose is to what? Block water that is in the discharge hose from entering back into the dishwasher! I've got one on order, should be here in a couple of days, but I'm betting this makes my problem totally go away.

Hey Scott, we have almost the same model dishwasher in this rental house. We hardly use the dishwasher, maybe twice a year for holidays. We're getting ready to move so I was going to run a few loads before packing stuff up. I opened it and found it hadn't drained all the way since Christmas dinner. It was pretty foul. Bailed it out like you showed and disassembled it and was surprised by how much water (and scum) was still down under the filters. Gave it a bleach bath and pressed on. Didn't find any obstructions other than build up. Bleached and washed with hot water all the parts in the sink, reassembling as I finished each part. The first filter piece you take off was the last to put on. I thought it was 1 piece. The hot water dissolved the crud and it came apart. And out popped a damn shard of glass. Slapped it back together and it works fine now (and doesn't stink). Thank you so much for such a well detailed, concise video!

Wow Thanks!!!!!. I was sooo terified I'd have to go back to manual scrubbing plates. I just battled a massive hair grease soap clog that gallons of otc declogger wouldnt touch.. I grabbed 25' $30 auger. It took 3 weeks to finally get it cleared, it just kept slogging up and down, hiding in different parts of the pipe...anyhow it was running ALOT of very hot water, plus TONS of dawn dishsoap through the drain after I augered that finally fixed it.. Then, today, I found standing ick water in dishwasher and I'm like OOOOHHHHHH NOOOOOOO the clog has returned...but it didn't...it was a tissue lodged in the spinny white thing..Thank u sooooo much.

Great Tutorial Scott! Unfortunately, this didn't solve my problem. I installed my dishwasher about a year ago and it stopped draining last week. I followed your tutorial exactly and didn't find any obstructions, but when I put it back together, it still is unable to drain. I pulled the entire unit out of the cabinet and took the drain hose off to see if there were any obstructions, but I couldn't find any. Do you have any suggestions? I'm looking into purchasing a drain pump ($109) from Tribles, but my fear is that the Circulation pump ($225) is the real culprit. At that point, I should just purchase a new dishwasher. Any advice?

What screw bit are you using to unscrew the 2 screws?

I took everything apart, but I found two pieces of glass in the filter that you remove right before you get to the part with the t-15 screws. I removed the cover and sucked out the water with the shop vac, so unless the shop back sucked up the glass piece, I didn't find any additional pieces of glass down near the impeller. It spins freely too. So I reassembled everything and it's running on a short wash and I am crossing my fingers it's fixed, but I didn't find anything around the impeller. I'm hoping it's not a bad impeller motor or something... Although that would be just my luck.

I had problems with mine lately. It shot out the PF code. I cleaned out the filters and I didn't get all the way down as you did. But, I ran one cycle so far and it hasn't quit on me yet. If I still have problems. I will take the white housing off and clean under that. I wished I would have seen this video sooner. Lol

What if my dishwasher doesn’t have an air gap that leads to my sink? Where would it be and how would I check it?

You can remove the drain hose where it connects to the disposal and clean it out.

In the beginning of the video, You say to press the 'Cancel' button for 3 seconds? What does that do? Does it make the pump turn on? I have the same dishwasher, which also will not drain. I have taken apart the drain assembly like you, but did not find the culprit. :( Looking for more suggestions here, because I do not want to call a repair professional as it is an old device. Ideas? Help? Thanks!

      3 seconds should do it.
You might try unplugging it for a few hours.
I would put the drain hose in a bucket to test how well it drains.

Does that ball in front of the impeller have to be up against that drain hole when you reinstall it

Thanks, pretty good demo.... but you went to A LOT of trouble getting that water out. I have a piece of 1/4” día plastic hose, gets into small tight spaces & siphons water.out easier & about as fast into a small bucket.
Thanks for going to the trouble of making video & documenting repair. With all the filters it’s interesting the glass could even get down that far!

yes, a siphon is easier and cleaner, and so is a wet/dry vac (remember to remove the filter)...BUT, he used "tools" quickly available and relatable to the average homeowner, probably in an arm's reach on the counter right above the dishwasher.
Not everyone knows how to set-up a siphon, or how to get one started which can be gross if you don't have a hand pump. And, whether or not you know how to set up a siphon, it's a very good idea to remove the main body of water using a cup because if that water can have some bigger floating debris that can quickly clog a small siphon tube.
To save a little time when using a cup, and for a little less of a mess, rest a good size bowl on the DW door and fill it up with each cup of water, and then you don't need to reach up and over to pour each cup into the sink.
Note: if the water has been sitting for few days it may stink, so before removing it pour half a cup of bleach, mix it up for a few seconds, then let it sit for 15 min, and this will make it a bit more tolerable when removing it.

Thanks so much. This saved me a plumber visit. I found a piece of glass.
