    I assume this question is in reference to primarily Seventh Day Adventist;
    however, every Christian should be mindful that they are a representative of Christ regardless of doctrine or denomination

      Isaiah 61:10 - I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
      Genesis 24:22 - And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold;
      The ancient Hebrew people were very colorful in their apparel, especially the priests. God used such clothing to serve as reminders and symbols of His truths and commandments to His people, though delving into such symbolism in depth is beyond the scope of this article. There are three common, general words for clothing or garments: beged, simlah, and salmah. The last two are thought to be the same word via transposition of the "l" and the "m" and both have a sense of "to clothe". Simlah as used in Genesis 35:2 seems to include not only clothing but anything put on the body, such as earings (vs. 4). Salmah is used in a descriptive passage in Psalms 104:2 which describes God as clothed in light.

    Very wonderful answer to this question 👏
    You see The key principle here is "Obedience"
    No matter how small or Insignificant the issues or the situation appears to be. Remember their is always an underlying spiritual principle at play.
    I have been hearing this term being use by church members very often nowadays,
    "It's NOT a Salvation Issue"
    So it's ok to do it.........
    It is of great concern because many in the Bible has lost their way because of this very attitude.
    Examples:
    Read Genesis chapter 3
    1. Eve in the garden of Eden might had this same attitude. " What's the big deal it's only a fruit" 🍒
    👀 look at the Consequences from that simple action of disobedient. A world 🌎 that is full of evil, pain and great suffering.
    2. Read 1 Samuel chapter 13
    God told Saul to destroy everything, but oh no, he didn't listen, "a mean what's the big deal, this has nothing to do with my salvation, Saul might have thought."
    He disobeyed God's instructions and did his own thing by saving the king and a few sheeps 🐑🐑.
    Well read the story for yourself.
    God took away his
    Position as king and most importantly God took away His Presence from him, God did not talk with him or answer his prayers any more.
    3. Read Genesis Chapter 4
    Two brothers Cain and Abel
    God's simple request
    Bring two sheeps 🐑 🐑 for the Sacrifice.
    But here we go again,
    Cain who planted fruit and vegetables say to himself,
    "My vegetables are perfect and it's good enough. I will bring them."
    But we know what happened
    God was displeased with him and rejected his offering. He was angry with God and turned his warth against his innocent brother Abel and killed him. Cain became the first Murderer on Earth. And his Descendants was enemies of God.
    Another simple request from God was Ignored. I could go on and on the Bible is full of stories of such nature.
    God will test our Obedience with simple situations to see our love and faithful to Him.
    It's not just about the mini-skirts, makeup and jewelry. The underlying spiritual principle is are you "obedience to God in all aspects of your life"
    Is your heart harden, rebellious and stubborn towards God. Do you live to please yourself or do you live to honor God.
    Is your heart ❤ in the right place , do you truly loves Him and Surrendered to His will.

    I dress modestly and I try my best, but I admit when I go to church and I see other ladies dress not according to God standard, I sometimes feel like okay so I can wear this clothes as well, but then the Holy spirit convict me and I put away that temptation. I think about the positive side of my way of dressing even though is very hard in this society.

      As they temp you to feel as if it's ok, you also influenced them by your adornment to dress heavenly. So the struggles between the spirit and flesh is there just don't allow the flesh the victory.

    I was very stubborn wearing makeup and after many years been SDA I still didn't want to stop wearing makeup !! Until I prayed to The Lord and I asked him to guide me through his Holy Word if it was Okey for me to wear makeup!! Bro. & sis. I came across with the story of Jezabelle in 2 Kings 9:30-39
    How she put makeup into her eyes when Jehu was coming!! Oh the Lord spoke to me right there !! What was really my real intention to wear makeup??? Try to catch men's attention when iam merry!! I was stubborn saying to myself: I need makeup because I want to look beautiful!!! That's Satan telling me that !! So I stopped wearing makeup to the glory of my Lord !! Dear ladies...you are beautiful with no makeup!!! It's a lie that you will look better with it !! Pray and listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit !! God bless you all

    We should be modest, people do not like to be told you can do this, you cannot do this, so what I say is this.
    Check the bible and pray fir God guidance, if you are convicted personally then that's it.
    Remember we are all at different point in our walk with the Lord. Some people will take this message positively other negatively.
    I believe as a woman, and I dont know if other ladies can agree. We don't dress for men, we dress up because of other women, is like a competition and we want to look different all the times. As you mature in the Lord, you put those things behind and you are brave to look just as God made you and dress modestly.

      I agree. Do you know how many ladies have grown up in the SDA with low esteem because they are forbidden to from things that arent even applied to men? Men do not have to worry about keeping up their appearance like sda women do. I have seen so many sda men go out into the world because they liked that they saw and bring those women into the church instead of picking a woman from the sda instead.

Realizing that base on the kind of content I want to make, if I'm pulling in subscribers by my appearance, then I'm doing it all wrong. I actually came to find reasons to validate me wearing more than just the lipstick. This was clear information

    Pastor Skeete, it is 4:30 am here in Canada. You are talking about wearing jewelry. I am amazed that the reason given is not the fact that we are living in the Day of Atonement. While the Investigative Judgement is going on in. Heaven. In Israels day the people had to take off all their adornments and spend the time in afflicting their souls so they would be ready for the priest to bring their names up before God, when atoning for their sins. I know I didn't explain this as good as could be done, but can you understand where I am coming from.

    PTL!!! Sanctify us by Thy truth, Lord.
    Appreciate snd PTL for the candor and clarity of your answer, Pastor Skeete. May the Lord graciously keep you and us all from falling.
    On another but extremely important note:
    🚩 To whomever is responsible for the images that advertise this video:
    ❗ Please consider removing the image of the mini-skirted female❓
    1. Men who view the image are adversely affected by it❗ Pastor Skeete himself just proclaimed this.
    2. My moral sensibilities (am an Adventist woman) are offended by the said image which represents an assault on sanctified womanhood.
    No one who is seeking for Truth needs to be viewing examples of what a woman looks like when wearing a miniskirt. We all are already fully bombarded by such images both at home and abroad.
    What we desperately need are many more representations of biblical modesty in female attire.
    By beholding we become changed.....
    Do appreciate your due consideration and sanctified action in response to this extremely urgent request.
    God's richest blessings upon us all.
    Maranatha❗
    Not much time left. By God's let us be redeeming the time because the days truly are evil.

    I wish men took the time to see how it feels to be a woman coming up in the sda church. It is so much judgement and double standards when it comes to our looks. The fact this is a topic for women but not men.

      @@kingrodda9075 so you gonna act like there isnt a double standards in the church. Preaching about dressing humble for women. Judging women's appearance. This is not the same for men. Its addressed towards women to mind how they carry themselves more times then it is addressed to men to mind their wandering eye. I have grown up in the SDA church. And seen plenty of men ignore the humble sda women and go out into the world to get a woman and then bring her in the church.

    • @StreamFacts

      @Nicole so what is your conclusion ?

    • @Nikki_Monneypenny21
      @Nikki_Monneypenny21 3 года назад +4

      @@StreamFacts that there are unaddressed issues that aren't discussed. Caring about the appearance of a woman who is minding her own business and coming to God is a personal relationship with her and God. Let Him work that out with her. Not man. A woman could dressed like Ellen White and look like Proverbs 31 but have such low self esteem including depression and hates how she looks in the mirror. She feels ugly and not beautiful. But so what, as long as she is dressed like an appropriate sda woman right? Just to make other fellow sda individuals happy right? What a woman wears is not going to make break or her salvation. But judging and creating issues about these things have the potential to push women away from the sda church. These are concerns thats sda men do not have to deal with. Like I said before, while we are not of the world it doesnt mean sda dont have gender issues. And I have not seen men deal with issues like this as women. Where their appearance can be scrutinized when that person is just trying to present in their opinion the best version of themselves. (And men coming into church wearing street clothes and tennis shoes is not a comparison cause women have done the same thing to. This is something totally different.)

Also, I have yet to hear 2 Samuel 1:24, Song of Solomon 1:10, Isaiah 61:10, Song of Solomon 4:9, Ezekiel 28:13, and Jeremiah 2:32 being discussed. I believe the doctrine of the bible is to be followed. Concerning your question. I believe according to the word of God that humans are not perfect, so they make mistakes, even Abraham made mistakes, he accepted the offer to sleep with Sarah's maid, because he did so, should we follow the pattern too? Solomon married many wives does that mean we should also do the same? These people had flaws, even as David was called a man after God's own heart, he still committed adultery, we cannot follow his path in that direction saying after all he was a man after God's own heart. Therefore, so that we would not follow the errors caused by the frailty of these righteous men, God gave a direct instruction about what he wants in the new testament. Such as, do not lust after a woman not to talk about committing adultery with her. Jesus also said he created them male and female, a man and his wife not wives. That's how He also told us His mind about Jewelries making us know that, though the people of old used it but it's not according to His will. And His will is this 1 Timothy 2:9 that "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; 'NOT WITH BROIDED HAIR, or GOLD, OR PEARLS, OR COSTLY ARRAY;"
      He did not only correct the mistakes of these fathers of faith in that verse but emphasized more about His will in 1 Peter 3:3 Whose adorning LET IT NOT BE that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of WEARING OF GOLD, or of putting on of apparel;
      With this we know the will of God which is different from the errors of men, but we can choose to obey or discard the will of God to follow the errors made by these men, but at the same time we must be ready to face the consequences of not following the will of God just as it has been written to amend past mistakes.

      Abraham and others had many wives...should we also promote multiple spouses? There's a lot that the men and women of God in the Bible did that was neither ordained nor approved by God.
      I believe God gave the founders of the Seventh-day Adventist church guidelines on our dress etc (just as He instructed Moses for the children of Israel) but we are not content to be different...we want to look like everyone else ...we say like Israel of old, "Give us a king" and what is the result? Confusion. Some with painted nails, jewellery everywhere, revealing garments, and all manner of things and no one says a word.
      We willingly adhere to the dress codes of the restaurants we want to dine in (if they have one) and adhere to the dress and behavioural codes of secular events we are invited to but when the church directs us we rebel and come up with "it's not in the Bible". God called this church out of others and the Seventh-day Adventist church leadership has continually watered down the church's guidelines under the guise of 'love and tolerance' and what are we now? No uniformity. What does it matter? we could argue... but just take a real good look and see...the flaunting of the little things have led to some deeper compromises.
      I'm pleading with God to keep me faithful in Him and His truth for I struggle to identify with this church.
      But...let us pray for one another's growth in Christ and the belief that this church is His, raised up for a time as this.
      Ps: consider Exodus 33:15

    • @UpwriteSolutions
      @UpwriteSolutions 3 года назад +1

      I agree. I believe our focus should be more on our heart condition and how it's "dressed". I know so many people who are plain-faced, wearing plain dresses with hems down to their calves, but their hearts are so cold, unforgiving, self-righteous, and unloving. They are dressed "right" and eat "right," but their hearts do not reflect the love of Christ, that draws men and women unto Him. God DOES require us to be modest in what we do. Yet, food just as jewels and even doctrine, can be our idols. If we look at the culture of those days mentioned in the Word, some jewels and gems were associated with pagan gods. THAT was what God had an issue with. Anything that steers us away from the love and heart of Christ can be an idol. People have a right to believe as they believe, but at the end of the day - if we aren't focused more on the heart condition of discipling and showing love to our fellowman (in and out of the SDA church), all of the teachings including plain faces and plain attire is for nought. Whatever we do, we should be drawing hearts to Christ. Love covers a multitude of sins....and for reference, high price "prostitutes" don't dress scantily, they dress very professional and covered up...We should see people as God sees us - 1 Sam. 16:7

      Make no mistake, "without holiness, no one will see God" This is both inward and outward holiness. Let me ask you, how are angels dressed? 2nd question, do they wear makeup? 3rd question, how are these questions connected to whether or not wearing makeup is ok? Well, things on earth should reflect things in heaven. Remember the terbanacle of Moses, the Arc of the covenant, The Temple of God etc.? These things reflects heaven by design. We're also made in the image of God, so when we use makeup & vanities, we distort that image, period.

      Interesting to sugest that pants are men's clothing only. In Jesus's time there were no pants. Both men and women dressed with "tunics" with different details.
      We should be focusing on the way we treat people. Jesus said that people will know that we are his disciples if we love one another.
      The principles for the way a Christian should dress are the same at any century: modesty, decency, health and economy.
      Man made rules are based on human opinion, and they keep people with reasoning faculties from embracing the gospel.

      Again reiterating, The ring was not in the mind to wear as a fashion, but instead as an instrument for a seal or a sign or a mark of authority.
      In the story of the prodigal son the father place the ring or signet on the son finger as a sign.
      The son on the other hand wanted the father to take him back as one of the father servants but the father would not have it, instead he was treated as royalty and welcome back to his high estate, he got back the authority as a son again. This shows the Love , mercy and amazing grace of God, and His humbling spirit.

      The Bible gives an accurate account of a story. It does not mean that God agrees with everything man does or with every custom. Just because Rebecca was given jewellry by Abraham's servant doesn't means that it was a practice condoned by God. God works with men from where they are at and hopefully through a life of faith, daily sanctification and spiritual growth will follow.

    • @rroller124
      @rroller124 3 года назад

      @@ivanessful hello, first thing we have to ask ourselves is where did jewelry come from? Really think about this because this is the foundation of is wearing jewelry a sin and what was God really addressing by telling them to take off their jewelry. Was it the jewelry or was it the way they started to worship the jewelry as idols. They didn't have Mercedes, BMWs, flat screen tv's, Iphones, etc in those days. Christians worship those things now along with immodest jewelry, so God used jewelry in the Bible to show us how the love of things will draw us away from Him. Modest apparel is the guidance we are given in the new testament. The tie he is wearing is useless, but he still wears it as apparel. I'm not saying that wearing any kind of jewelry is ok, but we can't say that if someone wears a modest small bracelet that it's a sin. Please really look into wear jewelry first appeared in the Bible and was it considered a sin. There's no wear in scripture that says wearing jewelry is a sin. It tells us why it was considered a sin and it was because the Israelites began to worship it just like Christians do with a lot of stuff today. By the way, make up is just that make up, and God created us in his image so we don't need to recreate ourselves with make up. It's nothing but vanity🙏🏽✌🏽

    It’s very interesting how pastor answered this question on jewelry. Let me remind everyone what the Bible says about jewelry(culture or not). 1. Exodus 3, read the entire chapter and in verses 21-22 God instructs for jewelry to be put on their sons and daughters.
    2. Ezekiel 16:1-30... please especially read how God says He clothed them, verses 9-14.
    Please avoid giving half baked answers. Yes modesty and good stewardship is key. We can’t continue to recite imbalanced and half thought out answers.
    Why do men shave their heads, sides, completely, keep long hair etc and those questions aren’t addressed? I won’t even go to the embarrassing tight clothing, why neckties, sagging pants etc etc... let’s present principles. Balanced principles. There’s no text about the sinfulness of makeup in the Bible. Some people have severe scaring and wear makeup, some people have damaged lips for different reasons and wear lipstick. Let’s let God be God, and stop condemnation on issues that are generally covered as “modesty”. Your modesty might be immodest to others. Some men are attracted to young children, old women etc should be start condemning the young girls for being young or old women for being old? Come on Saints 🤎🙏🏾💔.

      Right. That's what the title said but it was not addressed... The speaker at the beginning said that women should wear too much make-up. But who determines what is "too much?" And who determines what is modest? I have curves (given by God). No matter what I wear, my shape shows. I wholeheartedly agree with him about the dress issue though. I'm too old not to get that and have been convicted by God to change once I opened my heart as I aged and matured spiritually. But this make-up issue is not a salvation issue but we keep trying to make it so. A lot of women wear makeup to cover up skin issues. I rarely see makeup professional styled makeup in our churches. Some people don't even know that I wear makeup until I don't. I haven't found any evidence in the Bible to support this even after talking extensively with church leaders about this. I've seen evidence via Ellen White but she isn't the Bible. I love her but her writings are not a "Bible or EGW" mandate. She even said not to put her stuff above the Bible. I think it should be minimal and neat and not cause a lot of attention but other than that, in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with it.
