He wasnt basing his convictions on God's word. God's words are eternal. What God calls abomination in the times of Moses, HE still calls abomination this day. ..... We shall not be judged by traditions or cultures of men but by God's word on the day of judgement. For example, for the fact that certain constitutions or traditions permit LBTQ doesn't mean we should practice it as Christians. Just as the preacher would mind wearing skirts behind the pulpit, so we should be mindful of how we interpret scriptures, for we shall give account if we cause some to stumble.

@3.55-4.00 you said that one can be guided on areas that the Holy Spirit or Ellen White has not spoken on. This is true. But the issue of pants or trousers both the Scriptures and Ellen White have explicitly spoken about it.
I'll post them here.
Secondly the Christian culture supercedes our individual cultures especially when our culture contradicts the express instruction of God.
Let us explore what Ellen White in reference to the Deuteronomy 22:5 writes
"In this style of dress God's order has been reversed, and his special directions disregarded. Deuteronomy 22:5. "The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God." This style of dress, God would not have his people adopt. It is not modest apparel, and is not at all fitting for modest, humble females who profess to be Christ's followers. God's prohibitions are lightly regarded by all who would advocate the doing away of the distinction of dress between males and females. The extreme positions taken by some dress-reformers upon this subject cripple their influence. 2 Selected Messages pg. 477.8
Now going to the specifics as it relates pants as a male clothe Sister White affirms
"There is still another style of dress which will be adopted by a class of so-called dress reformers. They will imitate the opposite sex, as nearly as possible. They will wear the cap, pants, vest, coat, and boots, the last of which is the most sensible part of the costume. Those who adopt and advocate this style of dress, are carrying the so-called dress reform to very objectionable lengths. Confusion will be the result. Some who adopt this costume may be correct in their views in general upon the health question, and they could be instrumental in accomplishing vastly more good if they did not carry the matter of dress to such extremes. 2SM 477.7
The Prophet is here telling us that women imitate the opposite sex by wearing, among other things, the pants (trousers)which is objectionable. This pants 👖being a point of distinction. This is while commenting on Deuteronomy 22:5 hence it is not permissible. It's still an abomination. It is a sin as a lying lips is an abomination.

God Himself prescribes the breeches (another name for trousers) for the priests

The description given God was specific for Aaron and his sons. This God's culture . God designed trousers as a male clothing. And we find no place in the Scriptures where this is recommended as a woman's clothes..(compare with

So both the Scriptures and Ellen White affirm that it is an abomination and a sin for women to wear trousers or pants.
Even when culture contradicts what scripture says "we ought to obey God rather than men." And by our tradition we do not make vain God culture (Mark 7: 7-9) And God's candid warning is we should not let culture lead us to reject his commands “And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.”

Not sure about pants though. My daughter wears pants and I would never wear her pants as they are clearly women’s pants and are feminine style. Just like shirts and other garments.

Please tell us where in the bible that women should wear pants?
This answer confirms my opinion that clothing is not a salvation issue and not a sin. However, as everything else it should be done for the glory of God. It should be modest and should not entice the desires of the opposite (or even worse the same) gender.
"There is no article which the devil cannot overthrow once he has succeeded in having reason dabble in doctrine and speculate about it. Ellen white instruct us to demand a thus says the Lord on matters of faith. The fact that my dear pastors does not see it when Deut 22: 5 is clear on that is worrying. It is particularly important that on matters where God has spoken we start from there moving forward with supporting scriptural evidence and the Spirit of Prophesy. Relying on our opinions will only give the devil the power to overthrow us. Pants were fought for by women rights groups we must not ignore that. It is not like pant were made at the same time for both men and women. First they were for men, women fought for them, centuries after it had be a norm that pants are for men.Wmen craved what was men's dress and fought for it. Cross dressing is viewed by God as an abomination the world does not care about that, but as children of God what God calls an abomination remains so, we can not dare alter it. Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. May be Pastor you need to take a closer look at the subject and give us a Bible based answer otherwise this one is not acceptable for it is your valued opinion. I'm from Fiji..what Pastor Skeete was referring to is a Sulu..which is a traditional Fijian Formal wear for native Fijian males.

Based on what you said in the video I want to share what I have seen from SOP with you and all who are watching. It is not exhaustive but it is yet pointed and clear enough in my opinion. The main focus is the Ellen White comments.
From what I can read in Ellen White's interpretation of Deut 22:5, she has a different take. See the comments below.
I saw that God's order has been reversed, and His special directions disregarded, by those who adopt the American costume. I was referred to Deuteronomy 22:5: "The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God." God would not have His people adopt the so-called reform dress. It is immodest apparel, wholly unfitted for the modest, humble followers of Christ. {1T 421.2}
There is an increasing tendency to have women in their dress and appearance as near like the other sex as possible, and to fashion their dress very much like that of men, but God pronounces it abomination. "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety." 1 Timothy 2:9. {1T 421.3}
From Ellen White's inspired understanding, she says that women imitating men as near as possible is a violation of Deut 22: 5 which is an abomination. Now to get specific as to what ways women imitate men that is wrong or a sin, she mentions the dresses that does this imitation. See below.

She mentions cap, pants, vest, coat, and boots, not to say that these dresses are exclusively for men but the one of pants and trousers seems to stand out in the quote below. Historically, Christian women never wore them because they knew something. It was the heathen women who wore them and we are to not to learn the way of the heathen. During the suffrage movement of the 1850's was when this matter of women wearing trousers began to creep in and that was what brought about these inspired words which we read now. For a time Ellen White advocated the wearing of trousers for women inside their gowns, skirts or dresses in such a way that the gown was covering the lady so well that this couldn't be an imitation of the opposite sex. This was not well received. Ellen White then received a vison on what the dress of women should be. There was no trouser in it. Three styles of dress were shown but only one was approved. This can be found in Testimony 11 or Selected Messages Vol. 3, pg. 278 - 279. I will state only the approved dress given in the vision.
A third class passed before me with cheerful countenances, and free, elastic step. Their dress was the length I have described as proper, modest and healthful. It cleared the filth of the street and side-walk a few inches under all circumstances, such as ascending and descending steps, &c. {RH, October 8, 1867 par. 8}
After that vision she wrote.
I beg of our people to walk carefully and circumspectly before God. Follow the custom of dress in health reform, but do not again introduce the
short dress and pants unless you have the word of the Lord for it.--Letter 19, 1897. (To J. H. Haughey, July 4, 1897.) {5MR 405.3}
For the record, this does not mean that ladies wearing shorts and various lengths of trousers inside their gowns is a sin. I do not say wearing it is a sin when it is worn inside a skirt or a gown, but as it is worn today, it is a far cry, even worse than what she condemned in her day.
In summary, imitating the opposite sex is attributed to Deut 22:5 and Ellen White and the bible calls it not just a sin but an abomination. So based on the above, I think it is clearly a sin in Ellen White's interpretation of Deut 22:5 and that the main article of dress she referred to is the trousers. She even said the boots is sensible.

Trousers is not a sin but the act of wearing trousers by females is immodest as it reveals all their body parts and therefore becomes a sin.

Thank you for clarification on this matter. I know that there are cultural values but there is also a dress code for every season and everything under the sun. Going to Church dressing is different to going swimming.

To me, if we think about "modest" we already know what is best for all women. Skirt and dress not tight. For women to wearing trousers 👖 to me is not for ladies. Men are alright to wearing trousers but not for ladies. In Fiji, Samoa and all pacific island they wearing a tupenu is not a skirt. Women should have to cover their body by wearing dress, lavalava and skirt.

Don't add or subtract to the Word of God. If God says stop then stop. Why compromise on God's word. Dressing is part of God's requirement on conduct, order and doctrine. Nationality or religion doesn't change the thoughts of God about His Word. Let's respect His Word. That's God.
If you are converted into the seventh day Adventist and become one family-we have only single culture and this culture is explained by E.G white- if we are mixing up and putting foreign culture into our system of worship, we violate the simple instructions given by God to E.G white and this is sin. Don’t excuse to put foreign cultures into our system of worship, woman shall not wear men’s cloths.

When you become a Christian, your culture has to change. If your culture allowed women to wear pants, it is to God's glory if you stop wearing it simply because you are now a Christian. I wouldn't expect a Christian Scot to wear a skirt. The Bible says we should not wear what pertains to a different gender.

With the so-called dress reform there goes a spirit of levity and boldness just in keeping with the dress. Modesty and reserve seem to depart from many as they adopt that style of dress. I was shown that God would have us take a course consistent and explainable. Let the sisters adopt the American costume and they would destroy their own influence and that of their husbands. They would become a byword and a derision. Our Saviour says: “Ye are the light of the world.” “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” There is a great work for us to do in the world, and God would not have us take a course to lessen or destroy our influence with the world. 1T 422.1

I don't think this question was asked correctly...the question should have been asked "is it a sin for a woman to wear a trouser to CHURCH?!"
And the Answer is Yes, because remember as Ps. Skeete said we need to be modest and given what satan has created in fashion now a days, women want to wear "painted on pants" to church...
Now I know that EG White says that women should not wear clothing that looks or alludes to the appearance of men's apparel
But the main reason should be that women should not wear pants to church, because it causes a distraction for men as well as causes unnecessary arguments in the church among women with married couples...if you know what I mean
So if you respect God's house you will try by all means to avoid causing unnecessary unpleasantness in the church... because you have 6 DAYS to wear a trouser why do you choose to wear it to church knowing you going to cause controversy and unrest in the church on God's Holy day
God's word stands forever and superior to all cultures. Which culture including dressing is in line with God's word, let's uphold it.
From my earlier days I had always heard of and knows
what the 5th. book stated. Sometimes we're to hypocritical and judgemental of others.

Yet we find all " hypes of lies " to excuse ourselves, in going against the words of Salvation. Because that pleases/ed us.

The bible says a woman should not wear man's apparel. This means that for whatever culture you are from what's meant for a man should not be found on the woman. E.G.White says, that in the winter a woman can wear a pants but it has to be worn with a top that covers her bottom. Something that's long that you can only see her legs. It's in the constitution of my country that it's a sin to wear a pants. For years now this law is not being enforced. Women in the western world didn't wear pants. They wore long dresses.
Back in Jesus time everyone skirts, tunics. I use to go to church where the pastor said, “ Women wearing pants is an abomination an disgrace” I feel like he taught man’s word an not Gods Word.

In the West and Africa, women did not wear trousers so then is it OK to wear trousers for women from other cultures? That's the question next. Also i agree, dresses can be inmodest but that's not the point.

The Holy Spirt….The Holy Spirit….The Holy Spirit. PERIOD! I’ve heard this scripture pertained to war gear, cross dressing and simply anything that pertains to the opposite sex. What is the historical or cultural reason behind it. In the book it’s sort thrown in after God’s command for a brother to take care of his brother’s possessions if lost. During that time in history, men wore what looked like dresses. Ok so now what do we have? The dogmatic theorists on this issue fail to realize that you can have a skirt down to your ankles yet be as mean as a rattlesnake. In this case, is the Lord more concerned about your ankle length skirt or your heart? Depart from me you workers of iniquity. The Holier than thou felt they were doing all the right things and Jesus said nope, missed the mark. Am I suggesting ill-fitted clothing…absolutely not. But to suggest a woman is forbidden to wear pants is preposterous.
Women dress modestly. PERIOD!! Let the Holy Spirit guide your apparel. You would not want to look anything but feminine when the Holy Spirit is activated in your life. And that could be a pair of jeans covered by a long shirt.
Deuteronomy mostly speaks of His people staying away from evil and following His commands. Read your word folk and be moved by God’s urging. He told the Levites what to do, where to go and what to say. He’ll do the same for you too!
Seek clarity from the Holy Spirit. Don't rely on the wisdom of man or the wisdom of the world please.
You people are so smart to know the( first day from the seventh day) but yet you can or you people don't want to understand what Deuteronomy 22:verse 5 says,stop helping God,some of us know that we are not to wear pants but still want to hear what our pastor think about it ,come onpeople of God,God make the last talk not your pastor. Good evening and happy new month. Women should wear dresses and a head covering. Men should wear trousers with no head covering. The mark of the beast is spiritual and physical. Only God can create in the Bible sense which is to bring something out of nothing. Peace unto you. Let us follow the pure Christian religion. Dragon is the old word for dinosaur. Elohim is a devil. The saints are going through tribulation but that will end when the Lord Jesus shall return. The world shall go through the wrath of God, not tribulation. The saints shall possess the kingdom and we shall reign here for a 1,000 years. The feet of our Lord Jesus will touch the Olivet mount. The gospel of John shows that the Lord Jesus rose before the first day of the week. He died in the midst of the week and rose on the sabbath. Daniel 9:27, John 19:31, John 20. We would say that he died on Wednesday and rose on Saturday. The first passover of the holy old king James Bible always comes before the heathen Easter. Read Acts 12:1-4. If the first passover falls around Easter like in 2022, then something is wrong. The calendar problem must be solved. I am not relying on man and that is why the belief I have is different from most people. We ought to pray for the repentance and success of kings and all those in authority. I pray for president Joe Biden and his cabinet to do well and repent of their sins. I have been praying for all those in authority since I read 1 Timothy 2:1-4 some years ago. I am a sabbath keeping, new moon celebrating, holy day feast observing Christian that would never knowingly eat pork, shrimps, or anything sacrificed to idols. It is an abomination for a Christian to eat shrimps, pork, chicken, etc. Adam and Eve were children of God but they sinned by eating from an unclean tree. The mark of the beast will be IN the right hand or IN the forehead. It is spiritual and physical. Most of the world worships the beast by keeping sunday, friday, Christmas, Easter, Eid, Diwali, etc. The carnal mark is linked to a digital economy. Our Lord Jesus never ate shrimps or pork. Prayerfully read Leviticus 11:43 and Revelation 21:8. If you make yourself abominable, that is a sin! Repent.
The new covenant will not save you if you continue being rebellious and stubborn against the word of the Lord. It is a sin to steal and a sin to forget the sabbath (saturday). *1 Samuel **15:23** KJV - For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.* Witchcraft, sorcery idolatry, witches, sorcerers, idolaters will be cast into hellfire. Only they that are washed in the blood of the Lord Jesus and keep his commandments shall be kings and priests. There is no such thing as a sunday rest or sunday sabbath in the Bible. Only the seventh day is blessed, sanctified and hallowed. Isaiah 66:22,23 says that from one new moon to another and from one sabbath to another shall all flesh worship before the Lord in the new earth. Matthew 7:21-23 proves that not everyone that says Jesus is Lord will enter the kingdom. We need to do the will of the Father which is to obey and honor our Lord Jesus Christ. He kept the new moons and we ought to keep them.

In this day and age there are Christians who talk this nonsense. Women are equal to men. They can wear what they want. No one can tell a woman what to wear. Shall we tell men not to wear a skirt ???? The Scottish people might have something to say on this matter.
