I was made to believe that my salvation was not complete because I could not speak in tongues. Weeeeeh! Thank you pastor I have been saved fully by the Saviour. I just learned that speaking in tongues is not proof of my true salvation. This message just confirmed that my salvation is very legitimate. I am saved. No more feeling inadequate. Actually it's not, I know it's a persuasive message but there's too much flaws in his arguements. He shares half truth and makes a lot of contradictions in the message. It doesn't mean he's not a good Man of God though.

Honestly you are still innerdequate. If speaking in tongues is speaking to God where no one or even yourself can understand who do you Want to send to God to speak on your behalf. There are tongues for the church which need interpretation and your personal tongues before God which do not need interpretation. So for your own sake ask God to give yours since he has not told you that he won't. Sometimes it is easier to loose the trees for the forest.
The preacher is dishonest, go read the text for yourself the rest of the chapter, all the apostles that he is even quoting had the gift of the Holy Ghost, I could say more of his craftiness but I will restrain myself. Read the chapter for yourself Act 2:38-29 notice he has not read the rest.

It's never too late coz this has been my prayer lately for God to reveal to me why I don't speak in tongues. I felt like I wasn't a Christian enough coz I don't speak in tongues and like most members of my church do. Thank you Lord for revealing to me this. You're always on time. I praise your holy name.
A lot of people in church speak in fake tongues to make themselves seem holy. We all have gifts. Some have one, others have several. Pray to God to reveal your gift(s) and honor God with it.
Tongues is also a prayer language, unknown tongues, speaking to YHWH. 1st Corinthians 14vs2: For one who speaks in an unknown tongue does not speak to people but to God; for no one understands him or catches his meaning, but by the Spirit he speaks mysteries(secret truths, hidden things). The same chapter also explains that while one must be silent if there is no interpretation in the congregation,church gathering of the body, "let him speak him speak to himself and God. Interesting that brain scans prove that praying in Tongues does not use the language center of the brain. This tongues is a spiritual matter. Not all languages are known to living man, some are dead, but all are known to God, YHWH. By His Ruach, we speak to Him in tongues, our spirit is edified. But it is good to pray for interpretation. Funny how every single person in the upper room spoke in tongues, but now it's not for everyone. Yet the very said chapter says clearly we are speaking to God and edifying our spirit, the Ruach within us. We may not vocally interpret, but we are led by the Holy Spirit, because even when we don't know how to pray as we should the Ruach-Ha-Kodesh prays for us, through us with words, sounds. Even our tears are a prayer language. The mysteries of God. His ways are past finding out.
The verse that enjoins only two or three believers to speak in tongues and interpret in turns does NOT speak of the prayer language of tongues. That verse is about the public ministry of diverse tongues in a congregation. Unfortunately, most Christians today have never been in a congregation where a minister receives an utterance, boldly declares it in tongues and another minister rises to interpret the previous speaker's tongues. There is both a public and private ministry of tongues. Regrettably, this preacher doesn't know that. Furthermore, how come he claims to teach on speaking in tongues without any practical demonstration of the gift of tongues? I did not hear him or the congregants speak in tongues. That's a huge flaw right there!

God is not an author of confusion, he loves order, just look at all his works. God did not give the gift to be spoken aimlessly and noisily without any profit to anyone. Speak in tongues privately when you pray a or when you are in a small group of Christians that possess the gift of interpretation or better yet, interpret your utterances to edify. That is for church. But speaking in tongue also can be for oneself or for someone we know not. A story; a police lady told this. She felt a leading from God to live in a project. It had a lot of gangs and drugs there but she decided to live there. In the middle of the night, she woke up and was lead to pray in the spirit. After she prayed, she heard guns firing. God uses a language of prayer that we cannot understand to pray with the Holy Sprit to intercede for others. So there is two separate gifts. The gift for church, also a gift we cannot understand with our own understanding because we do not know everything, but Go’s spirit does and that is for all believers.

If there was $1000 note, there will be the counterfeit. The existence of counterfeit does not delegitimize the original. That none believers speak in "tongues" done make that from the Spirit of God evil. Satan also perform miracles. Does that mean Children of God should stop performing miracles? The preacher gives one side of the coin as others have stated. Example his teaching emphasizes on interpretation of tongues and picks only verses that support that view. In the Prophetic church there is intersessionary mass prayers where the whole congregation goes into mass prayer each person placing his petitions before God in tongues (everyone praying fervently, no one listening to anyone else). Now after mass prayer who is going to interpret to whom what each person said to God in tongues during the intersessionary mass prayers? Both 1Cor14:2 and 1Cor14:5 do not prohibit speaking in tongues without interpreter. In intersessionary mass prayers how do you have only three people two of them praying in tongues and one interpreting? It's about each individual praying to his God and his prayer in tongues needs to be heard only by God, not to edify the church but between you and God. Of course there are instances where there's need to edify the church with tongues, hence requirement for interpretation. But tongues are not always intended for edification of the church, this where this preacher fell short. And he needs to be questioned on his one sided interpretation of the Word of God on the gift of tongues. Amen🙏🏼

This man looks honest. It is rare! I am not being grim (negative) but many people just use the scriptures just to trick people or to put them down. I know, because I have experienced this. People need to be saved by God (Christ) because this age is coming to an End.

One does not have to speak in tongues to be saved.. most of you can't speak in tongues have you been in that holy Ghost Church all your life because you have not the holy Spirit.

But you cannot interpret a verse alone outside of the text.. A verse and words get their according to the context in which it's written. So if we know that the multitude heard the apostles and understood them in their native tongue then when Paul said to the corinthians that the tongue speaker speaks to only God not man you MUST check the context without adding your own ideas... Simply put.....if you speak in a unknown language /tongue to the congregation in the church in Corinth you I fact are not speakingto man (to them) because they cannot understand you.. You are speaking TO GOD because God understands all languages.. I cannot put it any simpler.. But this is the context according to the text. When Paul says "1Co 13:1 KJV Though /If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal." doesn't mean he did or do speak with an angelic tongue... It's an hyperbole/exaggeration

Speaking in tongues: Acts, 19:6 Praying in the Holy spirit : Romans 8:26, Jude 1:20 People always explain speaking in tongues but never talk about praying in the holy ghost. Most often people pray in the spirit and we call it speaking in tongues. I think most people need teaching on importance of praying in the spirit. Testimony: my gift was prophecy many say I was not saved I need to speak in tongues. I prayed so much until Jesus Christ answered my prayer by vision and he said he is coming back for me . I was feeling defeated in my life and I fasted and prayed and the holy spirit lead me to begin to praise God and started to pray through me searching my heart and I didn't know what the holy spirit saying for it was not speaking but rather groans that I couldn't utter when the holy spirit was finished I got revelation of things to come in my life.
I have led many people into speaking in tongues, when you show them the word and explain to him what it is and you explain to them that believing is an action it is a verb and you take the appropriate action they speak !!

You need to continue reading you can’t quote one verse and disregard the others you need to understand the whole chapter and the situation in the Corinth. The ancient city of Corinth was famous for its two international seaports. Because the Corinthian church was a melting pot of many different nationalities, its services often became chaotic and confusing. Evidently some of the members would pray, testify, or preach in languages unknown to the others present. That’s why Paul commanded that if they spoke in a tongue unknown to the majority, they should remain silent unless there was someone there to interpret or translate (1 Corinthians 14:28). In other words, it's not polite to speak in a language that your audience cannot understand. In 1 Timothy 6:20, he specifically mentions "avoiding profane and vain babblings." And in 2 Timothy 2:16, Paul repeats that counsel: "But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness." In other words, the very purpose for the gift of speech is to communicate your thoughts. If those present do not understand your communication, then keep silent.

Tongues are for the unbelievers not necessarily believers. Those who heard their native languages were not believers. It was done as a sign to unbelievers marking the church of God; for the glory of God by the power of God

This is true, there is a gift of tongues too in which the Spirit empowers you to speak in languages not known to you in order to witness to persons of that language. You visit an unfamiliar country and you are anointed and empowered to preach to the people in their own language. The gift of tongues or languages
A real blessing. I was in Church. Whole congregation prayed in toungs. After service a woman from Russia went to pastor and speaking in Russian. Pastor got her friends to interpreter. BUT! Your prayer was in Russian. I was blessed. I was only white person in that Church.

Jesus was the first to say we will speak in tongues before He was taken up to heaven Mark 16:17. The Corinthian Church was zealously out of order so Paul taught order.

Speaking tongues is a gift. the miracle is in the hearing. the Apostles when speaking but the people heard them in their own language. read the text and notice it says each heard them in their own language. do not be fooled.
Having studied this subject for more than 50 years, this is my concludion: 1) Not everyone can speak in tongues. It is a gift from God. Different people have different gifts. Don't feel inferior if you can't. 2) Tongues need not be understood by all. It depends on the audience. During Pentecost the audience comprises diverse peoples, so some people could understand some of the tongues. In today's church members are generally from a single race, so if someone speak in tongues in, say Swahili, no one can understand him. So we can't say that he is a fake. 3) There is no 'technique /steps/methodologies' on how to speak in tongues as some preachers have insisted. Laying of hands is just one way. People can get tongues even alone in their own prayer closet. 4) Tongues is the least of the gifts. We should seek a higher gift: Love.
If I have read with understanding on the day of Pentecost all the apostles were speaking in known tongues not unknown tongues or languages...my understanding is the idea of unknown tongue is coming straight from the pit of hell because none of the apostles had ever spoken with an unknown tongue.
@@MichaelSmith-wh7ld there are many languages in the world, some are no longer spoken, dead languages, but YHWH knows them all. 1st Corinthians 14 mentions "unknown tongues" several times and says that unless there is interpretation then one is speaking to YHWH, God, and edifying their spirit man. Yes, there are demonic tongues, but there is the gift of tongues, but not alway interpretation.
"The Gift", is the gift of Holy Spirit. There are 9 manifestations of the spirit. Speaking in tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophecy. Word of knowledge, word of wisdom, discerning of spirits. Believing, healing, manifestations of miracles. One gift-nine manifestations dividing severally as you the believer wills in accordance with the Word.
You are right you cannot teach to speak in tongues but you are not right by saying that not every believers who has received the Holy Ghost must speak in tongues. One thing is the gift of speaking in tongues and another thing is speak in tongues the first time a believer receives the Holy Ghost. The gift of tongues must be companied by the gift of the interpretation, while the tongues that doesn't have interpretation is not for the church but it is for the believer. Long theme ... but I pray you get more understanding because are missing and making others to miss the blessing of receiving the Holy Ghost.

We plan how to use anything when have it, and not when we don't have it! This teaching is good for the church that have the gift already and dont know how to use the gift properly, but its an excuse for those who think that speaking in tongue not important while the truth is speaking in tongue is the most important gift for all believer
When it comes to speaking in tongues i can only share my own journey. I started praying on my own at home and also prayed when i was silent anywhere to myself. One day while doing my night prayers even I was startled because as I prayed i went into a language I did not understand. I heard the words coming out of my mouth and could not stop praying. When you pray in tongues you can go on praying you can go on praying forever. So many things started happening to me, i could sense the invisible world. I could feel what people felt when i passed near them. They more I was Holy and prayed, they stronger in the spirit I got. Absolutely no sin and one day in the afternoon as I was praying I saw Jesus. So what i am challenging anyone is that be holy. Pray and see what happens to your inner man. You will change, at least that is how I started speaking in tongues. I have no control of it but when i go in prayer it comes over me and takes over.

In my opinion it is more important to live like Christ. I read the word by myself and ask For God's understanding. It is important to remember that we are uniquely created but belong to the same body. We are all loved by God. Every thing we write down will be used against us on Judgment day. Please stay holy use your mouth to bless, say things that help others grow. To think of one as above others is pride. I hope we all dont let another individual send us to hell. I was among them that preached against tongues, however, the LORD visited me one day and began to speak when I got baptized in the Holy Spirit. Don't be comforted to be lazy, go on ask God to baptize you in the Holy Spirit and enable you to speak in tongues. Pray, fast, study and meditate on God's word and believe, you will receive the Holy Spirit-Luke 11:13

He doesn't say that it doesn't exist. The bible says it's better to use that gift alone if you don't have an interpreter. And also the language you speak has to be a language under the sun not some made-up language.also not everyone has to speak in tongues people get different gifts. That's what he is teaching and he is right. The fact don't judge instead read your Bible and ask God for wisdom. Please read and meditate on the whole chapter of 1 Cor. 14. . This will explain the difference of the gift of tongues and praying in an unknown language.

God desires to see us bear FRUITS of the Spirit (Gal 5: 22-23) which is evidence of the Holy Spirit dwelling in that person. Not everyone can or should speak in tongues, just as not everyone has the gift of prophecy. As pointed out by the speaker the 1 Cor: 12 shows there are lots of other gifts of the spirit that Christians can desire such as knowledge, faith, prophecy, healing, etc. The purpose of gifts is to benefit the church as a whole. Paul writes that gifts are like parts of the human body - each with separate functions, and just as the body has many parts such as eyes, ears, hands, etc, likewise the body of Christ. Paul emphasises not everyone has the same GIFTS which the Holy Spirit gives according to his wisdom, and not our preferences.
The interpretation still remains the same. When the bible says Unknown tongue , who is it unknown to ? It is unknown to the people present when someone speaks it. The unknown tongue can not be unknown to the one speaking it .
And do you do it PUBLICLY? If so, make sure you get an INTERPRETER. At least THAT'S what the Bible that you believe in INSTRUCTS you. Praise the Lord! 🙏

Ever notice that the emphasis on Mark 16 is tongues, cast out demons, and what else is there? Thats right there are some more things that are definitely not emphasized. Why is that.? Tongues is a gift , there is no learning it .
They were speaking about the apostles..the unbelievers always want a sign to know if someone was a true apostle. .. I challenge any believer who think otherwise to drink poison or handle a poisonous serpant.. Today the sign for being a true apostle is not the wonders or miracles you perform but the words you speak.. The difference is back then the Canon of scripture wasn't complete.. What people HEARD were genuine languages. What the disciples SPOKE were tongues. God is not the author of confusion. 120 people speaking 120 languages would be pandemonium. No one would get anything from such a display. God unstopped the ears of those willing to HEAR in the crowd while others simply HEARD babble and mocked the disciples. Don't add tobthe Scriptures.

Testimony: It's wrong to tell someone that they going to hell or not saved if thy don't speak in tongues. That was exactly what happened to me but thank God my love for Jesus Christ was great he call me so out of the world so when people start telling me these things I sort him and tell him all that they say and I want to know the truth from him, if I really was going to hell, I prayed all night until in a vision he reached out with his right hand from heaven and he said I'm coming back for you from that day I don't worry my self about what they say but to trust him in his faithful promise. You didn't address the fact that the ones speaking they didn't know what they were saying and they were all speaking at the same time, but speaking directly to God. You have bypassed many other passages of scripture which refutes much of what you are saying 🤔. This teaching is very very biased.
What 1 Cor 14;27 is saying, (at least one of the things it is saying) is that you let a person speak in tongues, and also let him interpret, which means if someone speaks in a tongue in the meeting, he is expected to interpret, so when he ends his speaking in tongues, someone on the other side of the assembly doesn't need to stand up and give an interpretation. He is to remain silent and let the one who spoke in the tongue, interpret.

I was not taught to speak in tongues. I heard the tongues first from God in my bedroom at home . When God gave that gift of tongues to me. Tongues is a gift from God . Just as well as all the other gifts. He would not have put it in as a gift if it was not needed to be a gift.
How do you know it was not devil in disguise? Because you feel it was not? Remember Satan can perform miracles so great that he seeks to deceive even the elect. God told us to test the spirits, and even gave us His word as a control to test the spirits against. Just like in a science experiment where there is a control, which is an unaltered truth, God's word is the control when testing the spirits. If His word says it is this way, and you experience something else, then you know it is not from God. Because God does not lie. He does not write His word down for us, so we can collectively read and all of us know His will, and He does not interpret His word with His word, and later tell an individual another thing contrary to what He has written for us. The devil can and does attack us in our prayers.

I compared it with the Hebrew/Greek interlinear bible from Hagios Tech, also in the google play store, which gives the word in hebrew for the old testament, and greek for the new testament along with the english translations. Within this app, one can click hebrew and greek words and get a list of all possible translations/meanings of the particular word in english. This translation also said in other languages, and not just in tongues. I am also a us citizen of romanian descent, and I checked the romanian bible and it also says other languages. Paul was letting everyone know, that he knows other languages. After all, Paul was very educated man in his time. He was saying that, not to brag, but rather to conclude that even though he knows more languages than all of them, he would rather speak five words in a language that everyone understands so that he can instruct others, than speak 10k other languages that no one can understand. I just wondered why the Word asks in 1 Corinthians 12, do all have the same gifts, and it goes through the gifts which includes healings. And it says in Mark 16 :17..."These signs will accompany those who have believed: In My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues, ...18....they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will pay hands on the sick and they will recover." ( Is that for every believer ?)
People, people there is praying in tongue, which is edifying yourself. But prophesy in tongues is edifying the church which is the body of Christ. It’s doesn’t matter how many people are praying in tongues. But it does matter how many people prophesy in tongues because it is a message from God to the church and this is why it shouldn’t be more than 5 people and there should be a interpreter. But praying in tongues is the Holy Spirit interceding for us. Please my brothers and sisters don’t listen to false teachers that don’t have no revelation of God. Remember it is a gift and it is free. Apostle Paul received it yet he wasn’t there in the upper room . If you speak in an unknown tongues in public sector there must be an interpreter, if not keep quiet, Only 3 people can speak in unkown tongues 1 at the time ( by course ) and 1 must interpret. How ever, filled with holy spirit doesn't mean a person must have the gift of new tongues or be filled with new tongues. If speaking in tongues was a sign of maturity of being a Christian or as if someone is full of the holy spirit, the Corinthians would have been models of all advanced or holy spirit filled Christians. Actually, one of the importance of speaking in new tongues [ not this world languages you don't speak ] is a sign that a person has been baptized by the holy spirit.
You must receive the Holy Ghost before you can speak in tongues. When you receive the Holy Ghost you will automatically speak in tongues which is the evidence that one has received the gift of the Holy Ghost. Everyone that repents of their sin or sins and is baptized in Jesus name then God will give them the Holy Ghost which only God can do.

Pastor I do commend you on trying to teach about the proper use of tongues. However, may I interject something more that I think you as well as others that I have heard comment on acts chapter 2. I have heard you as well as others make the statement that the 120 spoke in intelligible languages. That is not what the word of God says. What the word says is that these people spoke in other tongues. This was a great move of the Spirit and the people that were there asked the question how is it that they hear in their own tongue. The 120 people speaking could have been speaking in the tongues of angels or man. It does not tell you which. People add their interpretation that the 120 were speaking in a known language but the scripture does not say that
Tongues you make intercesser prayer.( for other We don't know what we pay for bug the spirit knoweth, what we ought to pray for. (In prayers for others). The spirit can show you what you need to pray for or about.
The bible says speaking in tongues is a gift and people are given different gifts. if you dont speak in toungues its not your gift, but that gift is not better than any other gift. Speaking in tongues is not compulsory. Christians make it compulsory and most end up making their own. Some church leaders think its up to them to give the gift to the people, No! one can only get the gift from God, if he doesn't he gives you any other that is not speaking in tongues. If your church leader is forcing you to speak in tongues, he's not hearing from God and the chances are he made up his own tongues.

The title is sort of a click bait. However, the secret revealed in learning to speak in tongues, is that you don't learn to do so, as so many do in charismatic institutions. The message explains the title, and the explanation is that tongues is a gift of the spirit, and it is given in order for others to hear and understand the gospel. It is not just a blabber as seen in so many institutions.

1Corinthians 14:2 when you speak in tongues you speak unto the Lord, and which is correct, and doesn't always have to interpret unless their is a message from the Lord to the saints. God filled us with the holy Spirit not to edify others, but that we maybe edified, built up spiritually.

@ 5:43, Nowhere in the Bible does it say or teach that if we hear tongues in a church meeting today, that we will, or are supposed to understand the language of someone speaking in tongues, when we hear the speaking in a tongue. That sort of teaching is not found anywhere in the Bible, not anymore than if we see a huge ark that God is going to bring a flood. God did something unusual on that day of Pentecost. He gave the languages, the tongues that people who were there would understand. However this was not the normal or usual, which is why to the church in Corinth, Paul wrote that when a man speaks in tongues, no man understands, which is why it must be interpreted, and 'Let him who speaks in a tongue, interpret". On this point, the man is not teaching the Bible, but only his opinion, which by the way, happens to be wrong. He should repent.
who says people have to understand your tongues? the baptism of the Holy Ghost which is typically signified initially by speaking in tongues is different from the gift of diverse kinds of tongues.. but he mixes the two in his interpretation. parts of his message is in error.

This preacher is really missing it. There are two kinds of tongues. KNOWN TONGUES AND UNKNOWN TONGUES. What was spoken on the Day of Pentecost was known tongues. This is tongues that proceeds from the believer's spirit and directed towards the comprehension of men. This is the tongues spoken during Pentecost. The other kind of tongues, which is unknown, is the other kind that every believer can use in their private prayer life. This kind of tongues proceeds from the believer's spirit and its directed to GOD. Apostle Paul clearly writes that no one understands this kind of tongue because the speaker is speaking directly to God. Read 1 Corinthians 14:2. Though I like the preacher's zeal, unfortunately, he's wrongly dividing the WORD OF GOD! I was once in his state until God revealed His truth to me. Lord God, please help him. Paul also speaks of the private "prayer language" and the "tongues of angels" In other word, something you use when you are praying in private to God. There is no loss of control when you speak in tongues. You left out a lot of what Paul says in 1st Corinthians. And we don't know that all the tongues heard on the Day of Pentecost were meant for, and understood, by the foreigners. It was the day the Holy Spirit was given, and ALL, I repeat "ALL" 126 persons present received with tongues of fire. God will give the Holy Spirit to anyone who asks. It is a free gift that is meant for anyone who is Saved. it is more common to receive the "personal prayer language" type of tongue that God understands when you are praying, and that you yourself don't understand. We call the "Gift of Tongues" that you are talking about "Ministerial Tongues," one meant for another to understand in his own language. You are preaching the lie.

What did Jesus mean when he said in Mark 16:17,"And these signs shall accompany them who believe: in my name they will drive out demons, they will speak in tongues...? ".,. In this context Jesus said every believer shall speak in tongues as long as they believe, God will enable them to speak in tongues... The verses in 1 Corinthians 12 talks of diversity of tongues not just a tongue. A tongue or new language is given to every man who gets baptized in the Holy Spirit. Please don't be misled, the speaking of tongues is the only evidence of being baptized in the Holy Spirit. Tongues spoken are only understood in one place of the scriptures and that's Acts 2. However, in the rest of the passages of the Bible, acts 4, acts 10 or 19 including 1 Corinthians 14 tongues weren't understood.. And not every believer can prophesy.. this teaching sounds good and correct but many things aren't understood
We must all be filled with the Holy Spirit as in the day of pentecost. The Holy Spirit is going to move you from this earth to meet Christ in the air, the Bible says the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead must be in our mortal bodies to quicken our bodies. I just learned that speaking in tongues is not proof of my true salvation. This message just confirmed that my salvation is very legitimate. I am saved. No more feeling inadequate. Honestly you are still innerdequate. If speaking in tongues is speaking to God where no one or even yourself can understand who do you Want to send to God to speak on your behalf. There are tongues for the church which need interpretation and your personal tongues before God which do not need interpretation. So for your own sake ask God to give yours since he has not told you that he won't. Sometimes it is easier to loose the trees for the forest.
The preacher is dishonest, go read the text for yourself the rest of the chapter, all the apostles that he is even quoting had the gift of the Holy Ghost, I could say more of his craftiness but I will restrain myself. Read the chapter for yourself Act 2:38-29 notice he has not read the rest.

It's never too late coz this has been my prayer lately for God to reveal to me why I don't speak in tongues. I felt like I wasn't a Christian enough coz I don't speak in tongues and like most members of my church do. Thank you Lord for revealing to me this. You're always on time. I praise your holy name.
A lot of people in church speak in fake tongues to make themselves seem holy. We all have gifts. Some have one, others have several. Pray to God to reveal your gift(s) and honor God with it.

1st Corinthians 14vs2: For one who speaks in an unknown tongue does not speak to people but to God; for no one understands him or catches his meaning, but by the Spirit he speaks mysteries(secret truths, hidden things).
The same chapter also explains that while one must be silent if there is no interpretation in the congregation,church gathering of the body, "let him speak him speak to himself and God.
Interesting that brain scans prove that praying in Tongues does not use the language center of the brain. This tongues is a spiritual matter. Not all languages are known to living man, some are dead, but all are known to God, YHWH. By His Ruach, we speak to Him in tongues, our spirit is edified.
But it is good to pray for interpretation.
Funny how every single person in the upper room spoke in tongues, but now it's not for everyone. Yet the very said chapter says clearly we are speaking to God and edifying our spirit, the Ruach within us. We may not vocally interpret, but we are led by the Holy Spirit, because even when we don't know how to pray as we should the Ruach-Ha-Kodesh prays for us, through us with words, sounds. The verse that enjoins only two or three believers to speak in tongues and interpret in turns does NOT speak of the prayer language of tongues. That verse is about the public ministry of diverse tongues in a congregation. Unfortunately, most Christians today have never been in a congregation where a minister receives an utterance, boldly declares it in tongues and another minister rises to interpret the previous speaker's tongues. There is both a public and private ministry of tongues. Regrettably, this preacher doesn't know that. Furthermore, how come he claims to teach on speaking in tongues without any practical demonstration of the gift of tongues? I did not hear him or the congregants speak in tongues. That's a huge flaw right there!

That is for church. But speaking in tongue also can be for oneself or for someone we know not. A story; a police lady told this. She felt a leading from God to live in a project. It had a lot of gangs and drugs there but she decided to live there. In the middle of the night, she woke up and was lead to pray in the spirit. After she prayed, she heard guns firing. God uses a language of prayer that we cannot understand to pray with the Holy Sprit to intercede for others. So there is two separate gifts. The gift for church, also a gift we cannot understand with our own understanding because we do not know everything, but Go’s spirit does and that is for all believers.

The preacher gives one side of the coin as others have stated.
Example his teaching emphasizes on interpretation of tongues and picks only verses that support that view.
In the Prophetic church there is intersessionary mass prayers where the whole congregation goes into mass prayer each person placing his petitions before God in tongues (everyone praying fervently, no one listening to anyone else). Now after mass prayer who is going to interpret to whom what each person said to God in tongues during the intersessionary mass prayers?
Both 1Cor14:2 and 1Cor14:5 do not prohibit speaking in tongues without interpreter.
In intersessionary mass prayers how do you have only three people two of them praying in tongues and one interpreting?
It's about each individual praying to his God and his prayer in tongues needs to be heard only by God, not to edify the church but between you and God.
Of course there are instances where there's need to edify the church with tongues, hence requirement for interpretation. But tongues are not always intended for edification of the church, this where this preacher fell short. And he needs to be questioned on his one sided interpretation of the Word of God on the gift of tongues.

But you cannot interpret a verse alone outside of the text.. A verse and words get their according to the context in which it's written. So if we know that the multitude heard the apostles and understood them in their native tongue then when Paul said to the corinthians that the tongue speaker speaks to only God not man you MUST check the context without adding your own ideas... Simply put.....if you speak in a unknown language /tongue to the congregation in the church in Corinth you I fact are not speakingto man (to them) because they cannot understand you.. You are speaking TO GOD because God understands all languages.. I cannot put it any simpler.. But this is the context according to the text. When Paul says "1Co 13:1 KJV Though /If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal." doesn't mean he did or do speak with an angelic tongue... People always explain speaking in tongues but never talk about praying in the holy ghost. Most often people pray in the spirit and we call it speaking in tongues. I think most people need teaching on importance of praying in the spirit.
Testimony: my gift was prophecy many say I was not saved I need to speak in tongues. I prayed so much until Jesus Christ answered my prayer by vision and he said he is coming back for me .
I was feeling defeated in my life and I fasted and prayed and the holy spirit lead me to begin to praise God and started to pray through me searching my heart and I didn't know what the holy spirit saying for it was not speaking but rather groans that I couldn't utter when the holy spirit was finished I got revelation of things to come in my life.

You need to continue reading you can’t quote one verse and disregard the others you need to understand the whole chapter and the situation in the Corinth. The ancient city of Corinth was famous for its two international seaports. Because the Corinthian church was a melting pot of many different nationalities, its services often became chaotic and confusing. Evidently some of the members would pray, testify, or preach in languages unknown to the others present. That’s why Paul commanded that if they spoke in a tongue unknown to the majority, they should remain silent unless there was someone there to interpret or translate (1 Corinthians 14:28). In other words, it's not polite to speak in a language that your audience cannot understand.
In 1 Timothy 6:20, he specifically mentions "avoiding profane and vain babblings." And in 2 Timothy 2:16, Paul repeats that counsel: "But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness." In other words, the very purpose for the gift of speech is to communicate your thoughts. If those present do not understand your communication, then keep silent.

This is true, there is a gift of tongues too in which the Spirit empowers you to speak in languages not known to you in order to witness to persons of that language. Having studied this subject for more than 50 years, this is my concludion: 1) Not everyone can speak in tongues. It is a gift from God. Different people have different gifts. Don't feel inferior if you can't. 2) Tongues need not be understood by all. It depends on the audience. During Pentecost the audience comprises diverse peoples, so some people could understand some of the tongues. In today's church members are generally from a single race, so if someone speak in tongues in, say Swahili, no one can understand him. So we can't say that he is a fake. 3) There is no 'technique /steps/methodologies' on how to speak in tongues as some preachers have insisted. Laying of hands is just one way. People can get tongues even alone in their own prayer closet. 4) Tongues is the least of the gifts. We should seek a higher gift: Love.

If I have read with understanding on the day of Pentecost all the apostles were speaking in known tongues not unknown tongues or languages...my understanding is the idea of unknown tongue is coming straight from the pit of hell because none of the apostles had ever spoken with an unknown tongue.

"The Gift", is the gift of Holy Spirit. There are 9 manifestations of the spirit. Speaking in tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophecy. Word of knowledge, word of wisdom, discerning of spirits. Believing, healing, manifestations of miracles. One gift-nine manifestations dividing severally as you the believer wills in accordance with the Word.
You are right you cannot teach to speak in tongues but you are not right by saying that not every believers who has received the Holy Ghost must speak in tongues. One thing is the gift of speaking in tongues and another thing is speak in tongues the first time a believer receives the Holy Ghost. The gift of tongues must be companied by the gift of the interpretation, while the tongues that doesn't have interpretation is not for the church but it is for the believer. Long theme ... but I pray you get more understanding because are missing and making others to miss the blessing of receiving the Holy Ghost.

We plan how to use anything when have it, and not when we don't have it! This teaching is good for the church that have the gift already and dont know how to use the gift properly, but its an excuse for those who think that speaking in tongue not important while the truth is speaking in tongue is the most important gift for all believer
When it comes to speaking in tongues i can only share my own journey. I started praying on my own at home and also prayed when i was silent anywhere to myself. One day while doing my night prayers even I was startled because as I prayed i went into a language I did not understand. I heard the words coming out of my mouth and could not stop praying. When you pray in tongues you can go on praying you can go on praying forever. So many things started happening to me, i could sense the invisible world. I could feel what people felt when i passed near them. They more I was Holy and prayed, they stronger in the spirit I got. Absolutely no sin and one day in the afternoon as I was praying I saw Jesus. So what i am challenging anyone is that be holy. Pray and see what happens to your inner man. You will change, at least that is how I started speaking in tongues. I have no control of it but when i go in prayer it comes over me and takes over.

In my opinion it is more important to live like Christ. I read the word by myself and ask For God's understanding. I was among them that preached against tongues, however, the LORD visited me one day and began to speak when I got baptized in the Holy Spirit. Don't be comforted to be lazy, go on ask God to baptize you in the Holy Spirit and enable you to speak in tongues. The Holy Spirit is here with us. After Jesus ressurrection he promise to send the Comforter which is the Holy Spirit.
He doesn't say that it doesn't exist. The bible says it's better to use that gift alone if you don't have an interpreter. And also the language you speak has to be a language under the sun not some made-up language.also not everyone has to speak in tongues people get different gifts. God desires to see us bear FRUITS of the Spirit (Gal 5: 22-23) which is evidence of the Holy Spirit dwelling in that person. Not everyone can or should speak in tongues, just as not everyone has the gift of prophecy. As pointed out by the speaker the 1 Cor: 12 shows there are lots of other gifts of the spirit that Christians can desire such as knowledge, faith, prophecy, healing, etc. The purpose of gifts is to benefit the church as a whole. Paul writes that gifts are like parts of the human body - each with separate functions, and just as the body has many parts such as eyes, ears, hands, etc, likewise the body of Christ. Paul emphasises not everyone has the same GIFTS which the Holy Spirit gives according to his wisdom, and not our preferences.
The interpretation still remains the same. When the bible says Unknown tongue , who is it unknown to ? It is unknown to the people present when someone speaks it. The unknown tongue can not be unknown to the one speaking it .
Please take note of 1corinthians 14:23 ? What do you understand of this.

Ever notice that the emphasis on Mark 16 is tongues, cast out demons, and what else is there? Thats right there are some more things that are definitely not emphasized. Why is that.? Tongues is a gift , there is no learning it .
They were speaking about the apostles..the unbelievers always want a sign to know if someone was a true apostle. .. What people HEARD were genuine languages. What the disciples SPOKE were tongues. God is not the author of confusion. 120 people speaking 120 languages would be pandemonium. No one would get anything from such a display. God unstopped the ears of those willing to HEAR in the crowd while others simply HEARD babble and mocked the disciples. Don't add tobthe Scriptures.

In the Azusa street revival an uneducated 16 year old girl from America spoke fluent Hebrew to a scholar seeking to debunk tongues. Testimony: It's wrong to tell someone that they going to hell or not saved if thy don't speak in tongues. That was exactly what happened to me but thank God my love for Jesus Christ was great he call me so out of the world so when people start telling me these things I sort him and tell him all that they say and I want to know the truth from him, if I really was going to hell, I prayed all night until in a vision he reached out with his right hand from heaven and he said I'm coming back for you from that day I don't worry my self about what they say but to trust him in his faithful promise. You didn't address the fact that the ones speaking they didn't know what they were saying and they were all speaking at the same time, but speaking directly to God. You have bypassed many other passages of scripture which refutes much of what you are saying 🤔. This teaching is very very biased.

What 1 Cor 14;27 is saying, (at least one of the things it is saying) is that you let a person speak in tongues, and also let him interpret, which means if someone speaks in a tongue in the meeting, he is expected to interpret, so when he ends his speaking in tongues, someone on the other side of the assembly doesn't need to stand up and give an interpretation. He is to remain silent and let the one who spoke in the tongue, interpret.

How do you know it was not devil in disguise? Because you feel it was not? Remember Satan can perform miracles so great that he seeks to deceive even the elect. God told us to test the spirits, and even gave us His word as a control to test the spirits against. Just like in a science experiment where there is a control, which is an unaltered truth, God's word is the control when testing the spirits. If His word says it is this way, and you experience something else, then you know it is not from God. Because God does not lie. He does not write His word down for us, so we can collectively read and all of us know His will, and He does not interpret His word with His word, and later tell an individual another thing contrary to what He has written for us. The devil can and does attack us in our prayers.

That is from the world messianic bible translation, found in the google play store.
I compared it with the Hebrew/Greek interlinear bible from Hagios Tech, also in the google play store, which gives the word in hebrew for the old testament, and greek for the new testament along with the english translations. Within this app, one can click hebrew and greek words and get a list of all possible translations/meanings of the particular word in english.
This translation also said in other languages, and not just in tongues.
I am also a us citizen of romanian descent, and I checked the romanian bible and it also says other languages.
Paul was letting everyone know, that he knows other languages. After all, Paul was very educated man in his time.
He was saying that, not to brag, but rather to conclude that even though he knows more languages than all of them, he would rather speak five words in a language that everyone understands so that he can instruct others, than speak 10k other languages that no one can understand.
He goes on to say that the languages are not for the believers, for for the unbelievers.
Below is the whole chapter, so that you have the whole context. Many people take one verse out of the bible and create their own context, in order to prove they are right, rather than grab the context out of the word in order to prove that the word of God is right.

I just wondered why the Word asks in 1 Corinthians 12, do all have the same gifts, and it goes through the gifts which includes healings. And it says in Mark 16 :17..."These signs will accompany those who have believed: In My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues, ...18....they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will pay hands on the sick and they will recover." ( Is that for every believer ?)

But prophesy in tongues is edifying the church which is the body of Christ.
It’s doesn’t matter how many people are praying in tongues. But it does matter how many people prophesy in tongues because it is a message from God to the church and this is why it shouldn’t be more than 5 people and there should be a interpreter. But praying in tongues is the Holy Spirit interceding for us.

Did sir. Where are you reading from. Prophecy 1 Cor 12 talks about the gifts and unity. I Cor. 14. Talks about how we should use them. There are many more if you search the scriptures. Pastor I do commend you on trying to teach about the proper use of tongues. However, may I interject something more that I think you as well as others that I have heard comment on acts chapter 2. I have heard you as well as others make the statement that the 120 spoke in intelligible languages. That is not what the word of God says. What the word says is that these people spoke in other tongues. This was a great move of the Spirit and the people that were there asked the question how is it that they hear in their own tongue. The 120 people speaking could have been speaking in the tongues of angels or man. It does not tell you which. People add their interpretation that the 120 were speaking in a known language but the scripture does not say that
Tongues you make intercesser prayer.( for other We don't know what we pay for bug the spirit knoweth, what we ought to pray for. (In prayers for others). The spirit can show you what you need to pray for or about.
The bible says speaking in tongues is a gift and people are given different gifts. if you dont speak in toungues its not your gift, but that gift is not better than any other gift. Speaking in tongues is not compulsory. Christians make it compulsory and most end up making their own. Some church leaders think its up to them to give the gift to the people, No! one can only get the gift from God, if he doesn't he gives you any other that is not speaking in tongues. If your church leader is forcing you to speak in tongues, he's not hearing from God and the chances are he made up his own tongues.

The title is sort of a click bait. However, the secret revealed in learning to speak in tongues, is that you don't learn to do so, as so many do in charismatic institutions. The message explains the title, and the explanation is that tongues is a gift of the spirit, and it is given in order for others to hear and understand the gospel. @ 5:43, Nowhere in the Bible does it say or teach that if we hear tongues in a church meeting today, that we will, or are supposed to understand the language of someone speaking in tongues, when we hear the speaking in a tongue. That sort of teaching is not found anywhere in the Bible, not anymore than if we see a huge ark that God is going to bring a flood.
God did something unusual on that day of Pentecost. He gave the languages, the tongues that people who were there would understand. However this was not the normal or usual, which is why to the church in Corinth, Paul wrote that when a man speaks in tongues, no man understands, which is why it must be interpreted, and 'Let him who speaks in a tongue, interpret".
On this point, the man is not teaching the Bible, but only his opinion, which by the way, happens to be wrong. He should repent.

This preacher is really missing it. There are two kinds of tongues. KNOWN TONGUES AND UNKNOWN TONGUES. What was spoken on the Day of Pentecost was known tongues. This is tongues that proceeds from the believer's spirit and directed towards the comprehension of men. This is the tongues spoken during Pentecost. The other kind of tongues, which is unknown, is the other kind that every believer can use in their private prayer life. This kind of tongues proceeds from the believer's spirit and its directed to GOD. Apostle Paul clearly writes that no one understands this kind of tongue because the speaker is speaking directly to God. Read 1 Corinthians 14:2. Though I like the preacher's zeal, unfortunately, he's wrongly dividing the WORD OF GOD! I was once in his state until God revealed His truth to me. Lord God, please help him. In Jesus Christ Name I pray! 🙏
The spirit of truth is the holy spirit,A man choosen by the holy spirit or a person who dwell before christ in every breath he takes can speak to u simple words with humility or even counsel a person which can be any language which is considered as tongue

Paul also speaks of the private "prayer language" and the "tongues of angels" In other word, something you use when you are praying in private to God. There is no loss of control when you speak in tongues. You left out a lot of what Paul says in 1st Corinthians. And we don't know that all the tongues heard on the Day of Pentecost were meant for, and understood, by the foreigners. It was the day the Holy Spirit was given, and ALL, I repeat "ALL" 126 persons present received with tongues of fire. God will give the Holy Spirit to anyone who asks. It is a free gift that is meant for anyone who is Saved. it is more common to receive the "personal prayer language" type of tongue that God understands when you are praying, and that you yourself don't understand. We call the "Gift of Tongues" that you are talking about "Ministerial Tongues," one meant for another to understand in his own language. You are preaching the lie.

What did Jesus mean when he said in Mark 16:17,"And these signs shall accompany them who believe: in my name they will drive out demons, they will speak in tongues...? ".,. In this context Jesus said every believer shall speak in tongues as long as they believe, God will enable them to speak in tongues... The verses in 1 Corinthians 12 talks of diversity of tongues not just a tongue. A tongue or new language is given to every man who gets baptized in the Holy Spirit. Please don't be misled, the speaking of tongues is the only evidence of being baptized in the Holy Spirit.
Tongues spoken are only understood in one place of the scriptures and that's Acts 2. However, in the rest of the passages of the Bible, acts 4, acts 10 or 19 including 1 Corinthians 14 tongues weren't understood..
And not every believer can prophesy.. this teaching sounds good and correct but many things aren't understood
We must all be filled with the Holy Spirit as in the day of pentecost. The Holy Spirit is going to move you from this earth to meet Christ in the air, the Bible says the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead must be in our mortal bodies to quicken our bodies. Yes I agree that we must understand when one speaks in tongues.and

On the day of Pentecost all the 120 spoke in tongs. not only Peter. All of them spoke to all those in Jerusalem and bapitzed 3000 people in one day. ------ All those who wrote the new testament have spoken in unknowen tong during their spiritual ourney. ---- We are not all specialists of the fivefold ministries. But as sons and daughter of God we are all generalits having all the gifts of the Spirit available without necessary being a champion of one type of ministries. Paul said: ''who he prays in tongs edifies himself and no need for interpretaion bcs God understands all. We do not speak in tongs only for people. But the one who speaks in tongs in the church is delivering God's message to his people and That needs absolutely to be interpreted or has to stop being load in the assembly. ----- Remember what Jesus said, '' ... and the signs fallow them those who believe''. At least one of the signs will manifes while the other signs are evailable for the rest of their Journey. Remember Pauls whishes for Christians ... that you may All .....
I do not agree with this pastor 1) when he says that one cannot receive the Holy Spirit by laying on of hands yet in Acts 19: 6 the bible clearly speaks that Paul had laid his hands on them the Holy One -The Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. and here this language of which the Bible speaks is not an intelligible language. and every true Christian must be baptized with the Holy Spirit and the symbol of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is spoken in tongues read above and you will understand. always exhort each Christian to read his bible beyond what the pastor teaches you must have your intimacy with God he is the center of everything. there are so many bible verses that talk about the baptism of the Holy Spirit
