You’re doing the right thing Brian. I also had a huge 125 yr old tree dropping limbs. Hated to take it down but so glad I did. When the arborist took it down it was dead inside. Now when storms pass through I no longer fear of damaging my home. It’s a huge loss but the risk is gone.
Oh my gosh! Take that tree out ASAP! You've been lucky so far, but with hurricane season coming, you do not want to risk having it fall on the house. Absolutely right decision to remove it. Maybe you could have some cedar furniture or boxes made from the wood. Glad to hear you are feeling better.
All living things come to the end of their lives Brian. I totally agree that you do not want that tree falling on the house and the possibility of all the damage that would cause. I love the terraced garden..so pretty.
Cutting the tree makes so much more room for the other trees. Speaking of your crepe myrtle I’m surprised you don’t really care for them. The bark is so fascinating in the winter. Of course it’s got to be cleaned out. So much work. You’re doing an amazing job. Have no idea how you did so much with Covid. The heat has been brutal which makes it so hard to breathe. You are a champ!!!
The pool house area and landscape is looking beautiful. And love the view to the portico w the holly tree gone. Good call on decision to remove the old oak.
No one wants to lose a tree but no one with a brain will hate you. Things have to be done in life. We once lived near a golf course and had an influx of chipmunks. Cute little animals but they were under tunneling our walks, foundations and drives to the point they had to be removed. Some were relocated with have a heart - some were unwilling to be caught or relocated. We ended up having to dispatch them. I love animals and was just sick. But sadly having to do things we don't like is part of adult life. My practical mother used to say, can't make an omelet without breaking eggs. I am so appreciative of the restoration you do. You are a master at it.
Brian, it’s all looking so lovely!! I agree, the tree has to go. It’s a beauty but must protect the house at all costs. I love following along to see this gorgeous property being brought back to life by you!
Sad to lose a tree, but you have to protect your home. Also, love how you bricked in the areas around the poolhouse. It's all really coming along. Get better soon!
Brian, glad your feeling better. Love your videos because they remind me of my younger days in the south. I also love old homes and traditional decor. Know you have friends on you tube who look forward to hearing from you❤
You’re doing the right thing by removing the tree. Not only could it cause major damage to your house it could kill someone in its path if it fell. Maybe the wood could be used for fence posts. I like how your pool house is coming along.
At least she lived a fabulous leafy life! And with the tree that close, I’m sure you’ve been feeling an anxiety every time the wind starts to blow. I’ve had a gigantic tree cut down and I couldn’t believe how lightened I felt after. It’s been 5 years and I still be a bit twitchy when it get blowsy out there
Feel better soon! Trees, like people, have a limited lifespan. If it has to go, it has to go. Better to grieve over cutting it than to grieve over the house when it eventually falls. Now, that ancient boxwood is exciting! Wonder belong that's been there? Your home and gardens will be magnificent!
Chuckling at the several “good-byes” - when I’m on Face time with anyone I just have to turn my phone off to leave the conversation, as do most of my friends. Sorry about your big tree, but glad it didn’t hurt you or the house. Boxwoods might like the extra sunlight. All looking great.
A friend of mine had this issue and one of the branches fell on her dog and broke his back killing it, as he was walking under it. Get it out. It's sad but trees do not last forever.
Sad news about the tree. We converted the summer kitchen into our pool house with a wet bar. Living in south central Texas we entertained out there most of the year.
Hi Brian, the brick work looks great. Historically, would those trees have been planted that close or do you think they are volunteers? Worried about the rain that’s coming, are you in the path? Glad you are better!
I’m sorry you have to cut the tree but you’re right, if it falls on the house 🏠 it’s total destruction. The pool house is looking 👀 great, love 💕 the brick work. You know this is my dream house, so I approve of everything you have accomplished thus far. LOL 😆
We had the same thing happen with the limb falling We had it professionally trimmed and cabled and it’s under horticulturalist care with root feeding and insect treatment
You don't have to cut the tree down. I think the arboorist is just looking for extra work. all that needs to happen is for that large tree to be limbed up on the side facing the house, and not so much on the side facing away, and that will shift it's center of gravity so it's weighted away from the house. The tree is not unhealthy, it's not hollow, it's fine.
You are the 4 th person l have heard of that has gotten Covid in the past couple of weeks . Time to remove the trees , especially with sweet Oatsie running around .
Brian would you please turn your camera toward the subject rather than on yourself? No offense intended, it’s just I’d like to have a better view of what you’re talking about. Thanks.

I’m so happy you are able to keep the magnolia trees.

I LOVE trees, in a way that is a bit weird, but I don't love trees right next to houses. So glad you took this down before the hurricane hit!

Too bad about the tree. I hope you have a full recovery.

It's all simply beautiful! You are doing a magnificent job bringing it all back ;-)
It’s always sad to lose a tree, but it beats the alternative.
We know you love the property and are taking care of it well.
Everything you’re doing is looking so amazing! Such a beautiful property.
You are really making nice progress. The sunken garden in particular is taking shape. Looking forward to the next update.

Love watching your progress. So sorry about your tree, but seems it is for the best.
❤ the updates on the house!
I hope you have a speedy recovery. Thanks for the update.

Its looking amazing Mr Brian. Love your videos 😍🤩
The old trees are amazing, but best get rid of the dangerous one. 😊
Your content is so friendly. Thank you!
Love your videos!
On the bright side, it allows more light to the other trees.

Impressive boxwood!
You are doing the responsible thing. I love trees.... But it comes second, maybe even third to my safety or the safety of my investments
Wouldn’t it be cool if the wood from the oak could be milled & put back into the house restoration?
Love seeing the progress…..very awesome house.
You should plant a Lebanon Cedar somewhere for Cedar Grove 😊

I love what you’re doing! More importantly does Oatsy approve??

Big tree 😮
We just had to have several trees taken down, all huge, all weakened, all too close to the house. Cha-Ching. But it was for the best.
Lovely grounds, Can you turn the camera around more? 😊
Unfortunately, trees don't live forever. Lots of things can happen, disease, age, insect infestation etc. Time to go.

I love watching the updates on your fabulous house! I HAVE TO ASK...can you Please, PLEASE learn some video techniques ?!
Love the videos-----please turn slower😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Someone poisoned my trees. Olive trees. Still very young trees. It’s upsetting when it’s not nature, but malice .
You are the 4 th person l have heard of that has gotten Covid in the past couple of weeks .

Did you see that a tree fell on a young man in Georgia and killed him! In his home. So…..good call
