      Yesss broo so many heat runs are underrated like the time they went 30-11 after the all star break after being 11-30 In the 2016-2017 and the Heat unlike the cavs never really dismantled when lebron left they’ve stayed a pretty average playoff team which is amazing and even without wade we still managed to almost make the playoffs if the nets lost to the bulls we would’ve been made it in 2017

      Come on the East was weak in the 96-98 three peat. This was miniature size 32 year old Tim hardaway, Dan Majerlie 32 year old, PJ Brown, and Zo. They were a good team, not a great team. The east just lacked depth beyond one star player team or two star player team. While Bulls got 3 stars plus kukoc, so it was never even suppose to be competitive in the first place. The fourth seed in the east in 96 were the cavs with just Terrel Brandon and Danny Ferry.

    Life long Fins fan in NJ here. Lived in Miami from 06-11 and adopted the Heat around 07. I spent a few years going to a lot of games and frankly many loses before Lebron and Bosh arrived. I always felt like I put my time in before the run.
    Flew back down for game 7 of the Finals in 2013. I've stuck with them and become an even bigger fan since Lebron left. It's nice to root for a team with strong and smart ownership that lets Pat Riley do his thing with a great staff. I believe Spoelstra is wildly underrated and likely one of the smartest coaches in the game. He'll run the Heat once Pat is done along with the existing front office.
    The future is bright for Miami and I need the NBA back in my life asap. Hope everyone that reads this is staying safe and healthy.

      The 90s Knicks and 90s Heat are two of the best defensive teams all time. They are right up there with the 95-97 Bulls, the Bad Boy Pistons of the late 80s - early 90s, the 05 Pistons team that won it all, the 08 Celtics team that won it all, the 98-99 Spurs, the Spurs had a few other all time great defensive teams. Those are the 7 best defensive teams that I have ever seen, they held teams to 80-90 points a game. Many of the Heat vs Knicks games in the 90s were in the low 60s-70s scoring wise😂. They had some all time low scoring games and we're always tough defensive slug fests, lots of hard fouls, lots of fights, lots of jabbing, poking and all around feistyness. Just good old school basketball.

    this team shocked me years ago because i hadnt thought so hard about the 90s NBA until 2k11 among other things rejuvenated my memory and influenced me to look back... and immediately since i was a Bulls fan and was born and raised in 90's Chicago i had an Eastern Conference bias... and i remember the H. Grant Magic bcuz my father moved to Orlando from Chicago when i was maybe 7 or 8 and he gave me a Grant Magic jersey one Christmas... very tight... i remember dispising Reggie and Indiana from the 98 series... it was the toughest series i could remember for the dynasty Bulls because i only had the Knicks vs Bulls series from 92 on VHS since i was 2 yrs old when that went down real time.... and the Pistons were always a pre-dynasty story that just help give little Bulls fans a concept of our origins and evolution into champions... and of course i remembered Cleveland for being Jordan's personal whipping boys and since they too were in my 92 Bulls VHS video passed down to me from my uncle... but of all the teams i remembered, including the best of the west contenders whom the Bulls went 6-0 against... it was the Heat that i considered a huge rival of us at the time.... (in revisiting) i was surprised we only faced Indiana once in 1998 in the postseason but we were division rivals and all the meetings in the regular season helped me appreciate this rivalry and totally hate Reggie Miller and other aspects of this team but remembering the 97 knock that Mourning gave Pippen always stuck in my head since i remember taking on all enemies my Bulls adopted along the way of 6 rings.... but when i looked back at these opponents... Miami shocked me with how god awful these teams from 97-01 performed in the postseason and if it werent for 97... they were basically just the Knicks lil bitch ass brother who kept getting knocked out by the Knicks... These Heat lost a series as a #2 seed and as a #1 seed to NYK in 98 and 99 and then in 2000 they lost again as a #2 seed to #3 seed NYK.... Miami had home court advantage 4 times and lost 3 times and were down 3-1 in 97 to a #3 seed NYK as a #2 seed and they should have lost that series as well.... then also in 97 vs Shaqless Orlando they almost lost a 5 game series... they were also overpowered by Chicago 4-1 in the 97 ECF and they were swept by Chicago in 96 first round... in 2000 they finally swept a first round opponent in G. Hill and Detroit and nailed Hill's career in Detroit to a coffin that series only to lose to NY again in the postseason and then be swept themselves in 01 to the 2001 Hornets.... whoever remembers the 2001 Hornets? more power to you.... this team's lack of postseason accomplishment is astonishing.... they might be the worst good team in NBA history....

    LOW said that the Heat made quick work of the Magic in the 1997 first round. Well, needing 5 games in a 5 game series doesn't sound like making quick work of a team to me. Sure, it took legendary performances from Penny Hardaway in games 3 and 4 to get to a game 5 but except for that 2000 first round sweep of Detroit and being lucky that half of the Knicks team got suspended in their lone series win against them, it seemed more like Miami was struggling mightily to get past opponents in the playoffs in their 1997-2001 run

    this video makes me appreciate what jordan did in the 90’s even more so. these teams in the 90’s were so well build and very physical especially in the Eastern Conference. many teams have had bad match ups in nba history but against mike there was no bad match because he overcame any obstacles. the small intangibles he possessed were incredible and i think that’s what made Tim Duncan an incredible winner aswell. their fundamentals of the game were unmatched & that separates a runner up and the winner in close series/games

      Agreed Duncan being able to beat the Shaq-Kobe Lakers in '03 always stands out to me. Very few could overcome a tough obstacle like those Laker teams but Duncan found a way.

      @@AlikStansberry I think you mean the last 2 decades. If they actually draft well (For once) the next couple years, or simply get lucky in the draft and get a top 3 pick this year and/or next year, what's to say they can't be good in 5 plus years? Nobody thought the Nuggets would be this good five years ago. And now they'll be a 50 plus win team probably for most of the 2020's.

    More of these! There are great teams that never got their ring, and still had a profound effect on the league. In particular, the teams coached by Rick Adleman who's offensive style and schemes were incredibly influential on the game today. His Kings and Blazers teams were incredible. Hell, D'Antoni said in his 2017 coach of the year speech "I've stolen so much from Rick Adleman over the years that it's embarrassing."

    I like vids on the teams who came up short but the title is so misleading.
    In the 96-97 season, they probably would have lost to the Knicks without the suspensions, but whatever they happened and the knicks lost, kudos to the heat. But then to go on and say losing 4-1 to the Bulls is moral victory cause the heat made them shoot bad is... weird. Cool , so the Bulls played bad and still wiped the floor with them.
    And then underachieving in the playoffs in the next 4 years what the team is known for. This is like when the Hawks won 61 games that year and everyone knew they had Zero shot at winning the title. That's how those Miami teams were. They were good regular season teams but they were never destined to beat Jordan or contend.
    I would love for you to do a vid on the mid 90s to early 2000s Pacers teams. Those are teams that were destined to challenge for a title and ran into Jordan, Shaq/Kobe and then sadly their best chance was the year the Malice in the palace happened.

    • @cowabungadoug
      @cowabungadoug 4 года назад +7

      yup they never beat the Knicks in 96 without PJ Brown dirty move against Charlie Ward. And Stern handing down this unjust suspensions against Ewing and Starks for game 6 and 7.

    • @marcusgilmore5211
      @marcusgilmore5211 4 года назад

      I agree with u my Pacers get no love and I feel like we would have gave the Heat problems during that time period. It’s crazy we didn’t win at least one championship. The 98 ECF the Bulls got a lot of help from refs in that series....

    • @doctorx1924
      @doctorx1924 4 года назад +1

      Those suspensions were good for the Heat in the short run but bad in the long run. The problem was they never legitimately beat the Knicks in '97 so they didn't overcome them mentally. I think even they knew in the back of their heads that they wouldn't have won that series without the suspensions. The Knicks on the other hand were filled with rage and had so much motivation to give it there all everytime they played Miami due to the suspensions.
      In an alternate universe that fight never happens and Miami loses the series in '97. Miami then takes a year or two finally overcome the Knicks. They prevail and who knows what comes from there. I do believe if the fight never happens that the knicks would have never had the fire and motivation to beat Miami every time they played them.

      multiWitz yes we was I just can’t believe we didn’t win a championship during that time period. It’s crazy growing up I would have never have thought that teams like the Cavs Mavericks and Raptors would win a championship before us. Because we were so good back then it’s just crazy thinking about it. Now I’m hearing rumors we might lose or trade Victor it’s tough being a Pacers fan....

    Jamal Mashburn suffered so many injuries he failed to provide his true potential to the Heat. Mashburn in Charlotte was an all star & explosive scorer.... Thats was the thing that Riley was expecting from him. Heat was always lacking scoring with Mashburn if he is injured since Mourning & Hardaway were the only consistent scorer of the team.
