I love that you find the kids an opportunity to add their own toppings. . I think you could reduce the amount of yeast by 1/2 and maybe give it a little longer to prove, you would get the same rise... Maybe add a little oil, too, as that helps the rise
Oh never heard of oil helping the rise, I thought it was more to add softness, but of course I could be wrong lol ... yes you're probably right about the yeast, depends on how patient you are 😀
Yeah I'm hoping they'll look after me in my old age haha ... or at the very least refer back to these videos when they're out on their own and do all this stuff with their kids etc 😊
@@CheaperWaysNZ they worked out great and the house smelt amazing. Was so cute seeing my wee boy show them in his lunchbox at the playground this morning, proudly saying he made them from scratch
Hi, I absolutely admire and love your no fuss real life videos, they’re very refreshing. I’d just like to know if I could have the written recipe for these rolls by any chance please? Thank you so much.
Yep sure, I actually write all my recipes down in the description under each video (you might have to select 'More' under the video in the grey description area) :)
Love love love how you price cost the lot. And grabbed some subway wrap!!! I brought some of the griaffe milkshake cups and put the kods smooothies in there for the same reason. Takeaway paper cups. Kids feel like legends. Worth the 25c per cup. And im not scrubbing reuable cups which were left in the car or bag.
This is my favourite ‘go to’ bread roll recipe! But was wondering - have you tried this dough shaped as buns instead of rolls? Thinking it would make amazing buns but thought would they still turn out the same beautiful texture as the rolls? 🤔
That's a big question ... and no I haven't! I have a burger bun recipe that is so good and soft I don't want to mess with it haha ... but I'm guessing these would work just as well in bun format!
That’s awesome! I ended up just giving it a go and it made awesome hamburger buns! So now whenever I make a batch I do half as rolls, and the other half as buns for the freezer 👌
These look great! We are gonna have to try making these for sure! We have a good no kneed bread recipe we use a lot. It’s good to to put jalapeños and cheddar cheese in it.
Is it ok to half the ingredients. Have you made these with whole meal flour and seeds like your no knead bread or do you just use that recipe and make it into rolls?
Yeah no reason you can't half the ingredients and make half the amount 🙂 ... I've actually never tried making these wholemeal, but don't see any reason you couldn't replace some of the white flour with wholemeal in this recipes, and seeds would definitely work well in this one too!
Countdown used to sell a pack of 20 bread rolls for 4 dollars. I have pencilled in hamburgers on mondays and on Fridays I have a bread roll with chicken filling and lettuce. I can't remember what the deal is now with bread rolls at countdown but they don't seem as good a deal. I don't think I got time to make my own bread rolls unfortunately.
haha - yes one is an electric jug that's plugged if we want to boil water quickly, but during winter I tend to bring out the stainless steel one that we heat on the fireplace when we have it going for some free hot water 😀
@@CheaperWaysNZ oh nice. I am thinking of replacing the woodburner, and making it pay for itself by turning the shed into a dedicated wood drying place. The wood has to dry out for a year. It would not be the sort you can cook on though unfortunately because its one that is built into the wall rather than freestanding. They only just came out with a model that will fit in the space that meets the requirements of being ultra low emission that will fit in the space, so I need to wait a year or so and find out how others who have installed it have found it. A freestanding woodburner is more efficient, but my existing hearth has a lot of character to it.
Awesome - love it! Somehow the wrapper makes it tastier apparently (my kids now sometimes request "Subway" for lunch and actually mean the homemade stuff lol)
I just love the look on your children’s faces when you wrap up the Subways 😂❤
I know ... somehow that made them "special" haha

trying this out these school holidays in Christchurch :)

Yay let me know how you get on 😀
Those look so yummy! The kids did a great job!
Yeah they're pretty good (the bread and the kids lol)!
I hope your daughter is feeling better
Thanks - she's slowly getting there 🙂
Subway were awe struck by Clint's heroicness.
Noticed how quickly he downed his compared to the rest of us!

Hiya, what temp is the oven on? ❤ can't wait to make these
It's 190oC, for 20-25 minutes 😊
Hi Sarah, are we using self raising flour or just plain?
I generally use High Grade flour, but just Plain flour will be fine too, not self-raising 👍

I have a feeling someone works(ed) at subway before!! lol
Nope but certainly visited plenty! 😀
Cheaper Ways NZ how close was it from the actual bread? I’m tempted to try it
@@trewilson3315 It's not exactly like Subway bread, a bit denser maybe ... but it's yummy, and looks the part lol

Yeah I said the video needed some heroicness ... so he came and made me a coffee. Heroically.
