The speed matters if you get them both at same speeds .22 will win it all but since .177 and .22 rifles have same power the .22 is slower. .177 goes 800 to 900fps while .22 goes 700 to 750 fps but get the .22 to go 900 you would see it making a bigger hole

Nice but at equal Power i prefer 177(gamo coyote 40j ,i shoot gamo buffalo 1g),much more Speed, penetracion, accuracy and less drop at distance than 22. For sure 22 have more "momentum" Power but in my experience, for hunting small Animals (max 20lb)i prefer 177, 9/10 shots Will be nice headshot exactly where you aim. With 22 (gamo coyote) from about 50 meters It Will be 8/10 headshot(if you shoot some Goose or animal with small head) but if you go for body shots,100% .22 Is better but only in this case, obviously in my opinion from what i saw with my rifles,Yes they are not the super mega ultra of pcp but they are for sure very very good in accuracy

Using wrong grain pellets in them. 177 should be 9.5 - 10gr and .22cal should be around 15.5 - 16.5gr pellets in them. Reason is lighter pellets will damage the scope and air rifle from high recoil. The heavier pellets calm it down quieter, functioning better with greater accuracy as well. Nice little video tho. I found while shooting my .177 Gamo swarm magnum gen.2, that destroying a scope (which I did even with the Diana zero recoil mount) is inevitable and that the weight of the pellet didn't matter. I shot every grain from 5 ish - 10.6 and blew out my scope in about 6 months. I think it's worth mentioning that I was shooting atleast every other day and shooting a minimum of 30 shots a day and sometimes as many as 130!
It's true that a heavier pellet will prevent that ear piercing 'crack when the sound barrier is broken and you will have a better BC at greater distances but for this particular test given the short distance( I'm guessing this is in the backyard) if penetration was the goal a lighter pellet will perform better every time. I'm assuming you know your ballistics because you mentioned a heavier pellet 'calming down but again that only occurs at distance. I don't mean disrespect I just beg to differ.

@@andrewmiller9265 Not all air rifles are made alike in the same brand and model. Then this would cause for going even heavier with pellets. I started out shooting 10.5 gr in the Gamo magnum .177 my mistake. I ended up shooting over 11gr in it for a long time. Never did I ruin another scope afterwards. But Gamo sells a vibration dampened first that must be installed before shooting the air rifle. Some already come in the package with the air rifle, but as company quality control would have it, some packages are missing it. And so on. It has to then be intalled correctly or it will malfuntion and still tare up a scope. Then some scopes are defective from factory which would interfere with what I was saying. So with many years experience with breakers and pcp's I know what I'm talking about when it comes to air rifles and how to fix or solve problems. I own over 300 air rifles and logged all the test results on everything about them and with chrony results. And everything else with it. Doesn't matter about one person's opinion to me, because I know all about the air rifle world and I'm 99.9% right.Ed the professional backyard snipper man👍
