Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson work so well together. Let's not forget Schindler's List.
They haven’t seen Schindler’s List
@@khughes1997 I haven't seen that movie yet
Love the design of all of the creatures in this film. Super creepy.
Except Medusa.
@@IanFindly-iv1nl I like Medusas design tbh.
ONE thing that I did find kind'a cool is how the Stigians here were these reptilian monsters instead of the eyeless hags of the original. Not saying it was better or an improvement, just different and effective in its own way.
You being a racist cloen and thinking a culture from 2000 years ago wouldn't put veils over women cause you didn't see statues with it is peak racism.
You are such a racist clown you can't possible believe a culture from 2000 years ago couldn't possibly put veils on women's faces only Arabs. You rat.
I heard that Bubo is the same Bubo used in the original movie.
“I am Hades!” “The Hell you are!” “Exactly!” Well that aged badly.
in this movie Medusa's story is the saddest one. First she gets some "snuggle with a struggle" from Poseidon, then gets cursed by Athena when she "dared" to pray to her for help , and then she gets her head chopped off.
That is what I don't understand, why is it suddenly Medusa is the guilty one, when she was raped by Poseidon. Athena just curse an innocent victim to add more torture for her suffering. Poseidon didn't get any punishment whatsoever.
@@zamhobby9662 well, i guess ancient mythology was weird like that :D
@@andreistanciulescu7820 seems that victim blaming was very common, it was Medusa's fault for being so beautiful.
this Myth is a fanfiction written by Ovid, who hated Athena, This myth is a fanfiction written by the Romans
They certainly did Bubo dirty in this film.
In the RiffTrax commentary Mike quips "put it in the mystical box of pandering".
I shouted in the movie theater when I saw this, "screw you Budo is awesome!"
Wrath is pretty damn good too. They up the scale if you can believe it. Honestly i think its better than Clash, though i enjoyed both. For me personally these movies scratch the itch that Transformers and superhero movies do for others.
I actually agree….wrath has more greek monsters and gods kids
The thing I disliked about Wrath was it felt liked I missed some parts, why is your dead and how I thought she could hold her own, why is Olympus in such bad shape, and why do I feel like God of War did a better job than this film.
Medusa in this one went from freaking gorgeous to turn you to stone ugly… that’s epic. Best fight her and the Djinn… she gave him the look, and he didn’t turn… The look on her face was classic WTF… Great reactions par usual.👍
2nd fav was the no smile guy who’s smile is now etched in stone (sad you didn’t show it)
Sam Worthington is an example of Hollywood trying to force certain people on the public. Obviously with Avatar James Cameron likes him and for a while they were really trying to get us to ignore that he's as charismatic as a block of wood. Like in Mean Girls when they said "Stop trying to make fetch happen" it was "Stop trying to make Sam Worthington happen". For a second there he was all over the place til enough people eventually said No Thanks.
It's happening again with Glen Powell.
@@wiseguy100 I don't know much about him but saw him say he wouldn't do a Marvel movie. Say what you will about them but don't act like a mostly unknown actor is somehow "above" them. Like, you're way too low tier to be smug about acting work.
He was good in hacksaw
Never realized the Queen who was aged to death was played by Polly Walker, who also played Atia in Rome.
And with Pete Postlethwaite in it as well thats my home town, Warrington's, best actor and actress in the same film.
lol I watched Rome because of this movie. I noticed the queen had certain ... assets which warranted a google search.
Lo and behold I was greeted with an amazing view in the first episode of Rome. Good times.
And was a Thark in "John Carter".
@@jonathant4902Yeah, IIRC, she is the first one in a nude scene in "Rome"!
Atia is just amazing character... her war against Servillia was epic...
The first one will always hold a special place in my heart because I was just the right age when it came out, and culturally significant because *everybody* had seen it multiple times over. It was also a key movie of the early VCR age. The green screen is bad, even by the standards of the time, but Ray Harryhausen is rightly a legend and this was a fitting movie for him to sign off on. The old joke is that there was an entire generation who learned everything they know about Greek mythology from the movie.
So it's the first one for me, and that's that.
Not only that but the first film much like Jason and the Argonauts seemed like it wanted to turn a Greek Myth into a feature film, this film just wanted to put Greek Mythological characters in a modern story and while it looks cool even I had to go a few times and say 🤨 who the crap is that and those wizard guys made me say to my family 🙁 don't ask the fan of Greek Mytha because I have no clue what the heck that thing is.
I liked the first one also. The virgin princess was gorgeous, the actors were all great and a few were knighted by the Queen. It was an "Impossible Mission" type movie. But what's a VCR?
The lack of nudity in this version distances it from the reality of ancient Greece, where that would not have been offensive.
I also wanted to see Gemma Arteton with her kit off
@@MogMonster87 Gemma was a smoke show in this one. This and Prince of Persia.
Excellent point.
And Gemma has even done scenes in other stuff.
Gemma was my awakening of a VERY specific type of woman 🤷❤️ As well as Andromeda, both in THIS movie and it's Sequel SPOILER
Both Actresses ❤
Medusa: *exist*
Me: "I can fix her. All she needs is one big hug, and lots of love. 🥰"
At least the original had everyone in beards. Anyone notice that the plot was basically Disney's Hercules?
Hey the original Disney Hercules had more respect for the Greek Gods, characters in this film saw God of War and thought they could talk smack to to Olympus too. Problem was Kratos could back up his talk most of these characters can't.
The first Clash is a classic. Love Harry as Perseus. xx
Didn't know Gemma Arterton was in this
Is the princess Alexa Dalvos?
@@prollins6443 Yes
A story I heard was that Sam Worthington pulled a diva and not only refused to work with Bubo for more than that once scene, he threatened to drop him.
Lead actor Sam Worthington preceded this with Avatar and Terminator Salvation. Perseus' love interest is played by Gemma Arterton, who's also in Quantum of Solace and Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. Poseidon is portrayed by Danny Huston and Apollo is portrayed by Luke Evans
Gemma was also in the St Trinian movies. 😘👍
@@waynezimmerman1950 and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010), Byzantium (2012) as a type of vampire.
Love from Wales ❤️
The most unbelievable thing about this movie is Sam Worthington's Perseus has a buzz cut in ancient Greece 🤣
I am shocked at the amount of actors I recognized in this movie after watching it so many years ago
This film includes Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes who both appeared together in Steven Spielberg's classic Schindler's List (1993).
I recommend Wrath of the Titans. Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson together is just so much fun to watch. Personally, it was more epic. The actress who played Andromeda was replaced by Rosamund Pike. I was very disappointed as I was not a fan of Rosamund Pike…until I saw Wrath. I just fell in love with her and became a fan ever since. During the epic battle scene which I saw in 3d, I actually ducked for cover when flaming magma was thrown at the screen! I had fun with Wrath of the Titans. Give it a chance. As a kid I was horrified by Francisco Goya’s gruesome painting of Saturn Devouring his Son. So I wondered how Zeus’ father Saturn (Kronos) would be depicted in Wrath of the Titans. I was not disappointed! In this film, the King of the Titans, Kronos is the stuff of nightmares!
I love this movie. I don't care how campy it is. It is very creative with creature design.
In the original myth of Medusa, it was looking at her FACE that would turn you to stone, because she was so hideous. At some point though, she got rewritten to still being very beautiful even after her transformation, and now it was looking into her EYES that would turn you to stone. It's a revision in Greek mythology that I actually really like, and I'm glad this film followed that version, because in my mind it actually makes Medusa an even MORE dangerous adversary to fight against.
She looks like a video game graphic in THIS version.
Dont forget the sequel, Wrath of the Titans
Music was done by same composer as Game of Thrones
The trailer for this movie is so much better than the actual movie
In the myth, Andromeda is the correct female lead, such as one is. Io is from completely different story: she was loved by Zeus, who, in an effort to disguise her when Hera came close, turned Io into a heifer. Hera, who in some versions, had been informed about what Zeus was doing, demanded the heifer and kept her chained to a tree, guarded by the hundred-eyed Argus. Zeus called on the resourceful Hermes to free Io. Hermes, disguised as a simple shepherd, joined the very bored Argus and either played music to put Argus to sleep, or told a long story which lulled Argus into sleep. Hermes then killed him and freed Io. A furious Hera transferred the hundred eyes of her faithful servant to the tail of her peacock, and sent a gadfly to torment the wandering Io, who was still in heifer form. Eventually, Io reached Egypt where Zeus was able to transform her to human form. She had children by Zeus, and was, reputedly, an ancestress of Herakles/Hercules.
So the screenwriters essentially created a brand new character and gave her the name of Io.
Incidentally, Hermes was brought to trial for murder by Hera, but defended himself so well that he was acquitted.
That's the thing I really dislike about this film was it seemed to put Greeks Mythological characters into a non Greek Myth story.
Sick ghostbusters tee shirt Mr.Movies 🔥👻! Have a great weekend guys.👋🏾
Don’t care what anyone says, I love this version of Clash of the Titans.
Ser Davos and The Hound are both in this movie.
Love these movies and the old ones they are based off of. Jason and the Argonauts is awesome to with the OG skeleton fight
The whole point of this movie is humanity wants to become independent from the gods but if that happens, we no longer see gods, there is no longer a cosmic order in the universe, it's like now we no longer value religion, if we don't value technology
have you seen Three Thousand Years of Longing?
Sam Worthington regrets being in this movie and the sequel. Lol!
well that's just stupid
Yeah nah that is stupid. Considering how decent he did
As he should be and in everything he's in
That sad to because i thought he done a really good job but! thats the way some actors are tho i ask myself then why in the hell did you get in to acting for?!?!
You two have to see Jason and the Argonauts (1963) at some point. It's way better than Clash of the Titans even though I loved Clash of the Titans as a kid.
Zues gave Perseus Io. His hand me downs... oh man.
I do like this one, but I prefer the original. Personally, I think Laurence Olivier giving the order to release the Kraken sounded better than Liam Neeson saying it. Seeing Pete Postlethwaite as the mortal father of Perseus was great, even though he did not have a lot of screentime. Another actor who had a small role was Martin McCann, who would go on to play Marine R.V. Burgin in the HBO series The Pacific. Before this movie, Sam Worthington had a small role in the 2005 movie The Great Raid, as a U.S. Army Ranger. It is based on the true story of the rescue of over 500 prisoners of war being held by the Japanese. The rescue happened in January 1945, with 122 men from the 6th Ranger Battalion going 30 miles behind enemy lines to rescue those men.
I don't like this one as much as the first. It just felt off and forced. As the only black character in the movie is Pegasus, who's originally a white stallion horse. Story is weird and different. Pacing is faster but uneven.
This one messed up the Medusa fight. The original was scary AF, this one was a video game
i liked the film and its sequel
Realy liked this one, mayby mainly because I love the score . You should watch Beowulf (2007) Very underrated heroes tale made by computer generated graphics... Hopkins, Malcovich, Jolie 😯👍
and the soundtrack, super epic masterpiece!
I love these kinds of mythological adventure journey movies. We don't get many of them nowadays in mid/high budget, but I'm happy when they show up. I'll always by hype for the Djinn in this, they're so cool.
I still think the Hades theme is lufted directly from an old "Loony Toons" cartoon from back in the day.
Skinhead Perseus and video game graphic Medusa? Real improvement! Also like how the giant scorpions in this one are domesticatable animals that people can just saddle up and ride, instead of monstrous cold-blooded deadly insects like in the original, .. . clever decision there (LMAO!)
Except the scorpions are controlled by the Djinn, which weren't in the first movie.
“2010”😂😂😂
Mythological Nitpick regarding Hades: Hades was largely uncaring about the affairs of gods and men. He was the god of the underworld, and to him, every creature, both god and men, would eventually come under his rule in time. A more appropriate god to be the antagonist of this film would have been Ares. A war between gods and men would have empowered him, allowing him to gain enough power to do what Hades did in this movie.
he did care about Persephone enough to kidnap her
The guy playing hades is voldmot
I don't know how I only now, whilst watching this reaction, recognised the Hound also had a small role in this movie.
RIP Bubo
Wrath of the Titans is a good movie. You should watch it.
Yep! hard damn facts!!! part 2 is awesome!! but! i really dont think there going react to the second one since the boss said she really didnt care to react to part 2 so they wont so so sad.😢😖😡👎👎
After the release of Avatar, this is one of those movies they rushed to convert to 3D
Funniest part for me is they've just STRONGLY implied 'The Kraken' is a man...Remember, the Djinn didn't turn to stone. Women and presumably other demi-gods who should be around or above the power of the Djinn shouldn't be effected.
If I remember correctly, Djinn are sexless beings, being of pure element.
But isn't the definition of a demi-god that he or she is half god? Like Perseus?
That queen lady and the wife, so pretty
"But it was Poseidon who released the Kraken"
Yeah but Hades=Devil aka evil..just your typical hollywood.
They completely mixed up Greek mythology in this version. Fun fact: In the genealogy Homer presents in classic Greek mythology, Io is actually Perseus's great great great great great great great grandmother!
It was Legendary (and WB) who remade this in 2010. Now that they have set up shop at Sony/Columbia Pictures, I have these anxieties that they want to tackle other Ray Harryhausen features (most of Ray's films were done at Columbia). Is "Jason & The Argonauts" or "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad" next? Legendary has done well with their monster movies of late.
I doubt they would try as Legendary seem to have a good thing going at the moment with Dune and the Godzilla universe. We are getting a prequel to 300 soon from Synder and Legendary so at least for the time our childhood favs are safe.
@@donovanbradford8231 just because a remake is made, doesn't mean you have to see it
Anything that walks in the room they tell it to go lay down. Be it child or canine.
Let them know men did this! best line in the whole damn movie.😁🤨😯👍
Worthington has for sure had his share of not so great movies, but I really like 'man on a ledge'. Not sure how well it did in the box office, but it also has several other big and recognizable actors and is worth a watch imo.
You guys should watch Wrath of the Titans...its pretty darn good as well!
Hauser worked with Cohaagen to defeat Kuato.
I don’t know if it’s just Patreon members who get to choose but I’d love to see mrs movies face reacting to Mad Max Fury Road
The Kraken is the Cloverfield monster's pissed off uncle
Love the music in this one.
Did people in ANCIENT GREECE have frigging BUZZ CUTS? I don't think so. I mean the hero here looks more like a member of the US army than a classical Greek warrior!
Caesar cuts, but not buzzes.
What did Mrs the Movies think of the differences between this Medusa and the 1980’s version?
16:10 GOOEEEY! XD
5:25 Ralph Finnes as Grima Wormtongue. 😂😂😂😂
The 1980 version is my fav as I grew up in that time. I hated this one when I went to see it but I can see some of its merits now.
The look and story for the most part of this are good. But the original had better acting, more charm, seems to be held higher, and was the type of story you'd expect a Greek Myth to look and flow. This version sadly lacks a lot of the those qualities.
Get that head out!
Hehe
That’s what she said 😂
The woman who plays IO sounds similar to Rachel Weisz
I wasn't even watching as the reaction started, but instantly recognized Pete Postlethwaites voice! What a great actor with an unmistakable voice. From my neck o the woods, and as reluctant as I am to say this really annoying cliche sentence, he is criminally underrated. But I'm actually being genuine, not jus saying words! He pops up all over the place and barely gets a mention
A movie filmed in Canary Islands, Spain.
Titans Will Clash.
With his Avatar star power the main reason for being cast - the film just needed more so they gave Sam Worthington an amazing group of actors to support him. I laughed when they gave him the shield made from the scorpion carapace - just like RPG games, he got a legendary blade gifted during his quest and then a group member gave him that shield, 'high quality'. Seriously, it plays out just like a game.
I hope you’re going to watch the second one after this, it’s a continuing story. Another great movie in this vein starring Henry Cavill, is “Immortals”.😊
Also, Wrath of the Titans is not a 3-D movie, btw.Sam Worthington was also in Hacksaw Ridge.
Cult leader...." You will die of an infection, sir."!😂😂😂... Total mom comment
Zack Snyder’s “Immortal” starring Henry Cavill depiction of mythology is worth a gander!
Snyder didn't do that one.
Some guys just want to give Snyder credit for everything
@@Wlof25 my bad…got it mixed up from it always being compared to 300(same style)
Medusa's not ugly in this one.
She looks like something out of a video game too. Sucks.
until she's actively turning someone to stone
I heard Bubo does car commercials… in Japan.
Sam Worthington refused to work with a robot bird. He's the one to blame for Bubo's absence. Damn him to hell!
The man was dead to me once I heard about this.
Dead to you but then here you are. Funny how that works eh.
Is the princess Alexa Dalvos? She looks familiar.
She was in The Chronicles of Riddick
Davalos, and yes.
Best Regards From Sweden ❤
The scorp is trying to nip him! :O
One thing that bothers me about this movie. How come Perseus doesn't have a Northern English accent like his adopted Dad?
because he's not a good actor? lol
Gods meddling in our affairs, when they shouldn’t be. The movie.
Time for the sequel! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 'Wrath of the Titans'
I was def simping for medusa
Medusa works on anyone regardless of gender
haven't watched it since it came out .
I really enjoyed this remake. And its sequel WRATH OF THE TITANS.
I enjoyed this movie.
I actually liked this and the 2nd one
'Wrath' was a better movie, IMO
Please react to the sequel of this movie Wrath of the Titans... Its a good movie
I was stoked when I heard this movie was coming out, having grown up with the original. But when it came out, I was a little let down. Yes, the effects were better but I feel they went overboard. Why were the scorpions so big? At least in the original, they were a size that gave the men a realistic chance to fight. Why the comic relief duo? The lack of an epic instrumental score didn’t help either.
Agreed I really felt the original was trying to tell a Greek Myth in the form of a feature film while this version was trying to put Greek Mythological characters into a modern story and it just didn't work.
Saw this in theaters. Thought it was pretty lame tbh. Gemma artenton (sp?) I thought was awful in this. The sequel is a tad bit better but not by much. I think immortals was better than them both. Mostly because the action is way cooler than anything in these movies. They all kind of corny though lol
I❤This Version, Almost As Much As The First! I ❤The SAM Actor Who Persceus ! I❤The AVATAR Movies!
cant wait for u to watch Wrath of the Titans and Gods of Egypt
