    AWESOME VIDEO! Swimming is the best for total body low impact fitness, but swimmer's shoulder can halt that! Thanks for putting together this video and sharing your tips! I've enjoyed your content and loved seeing your advice as a fellow swimmer! Happy swimming :)

    I am 72-year-old lifetime swimmer. I am suffering from swimmers' shoulder and am rehabbing it. I recommend doing the elastic band exercise in BOTH directions, pulling IN and pulling OUT. Everything you do should be on both shoulders! My sore shoulder is VERY weak by comparison to the strong one. Maybe that's the problem and these exercises will strengthen them.

    I was competitive swimmer from the age of five through high School and into college. Played a lot of baseball. And then rugby came. My shoulders got torn up. I could never understand why my freestyle took a big hit. Thank you for the clarity and hopefully a road to more enjoyable swimming.

    You guys are amazing! Thank you! You guys helped me get through some painful sciatic pain in my lower back. I started disc golfing (Like many during the Pandemic) and it's been about 1.5 years and I just started getting shoulder pain :( . I've been resting and trying to play left handed while I let my right shoulder heal. Now I'm binge watching anything shoulder related. Thanks again!

    Thank you I'm not a swimmer but I injured my shoulder lifting my hands over my head with X-ray equipment so this has been very helpful. And once while lifting a patient so I think since I avoided rotator cuff surgery but had pain 24/7 for 2 years this is the best thing to do let it heal gradually and your physical therapy has helped me with other areas

    Thank you Bob and Brad, I do have a small tear in my rotator cuff (per MRI) and I learned something important. I still wanted to be in the pool so I thought I will kick only and save my shoulders. Last night I saw a video by a Calif. swim coach which suggests using a kick board may also put stress on the shoulders. I think he is totally correct and for now have ditched the kick board. The coach goes by Coach Matt on youtube if you are interested.

    I’ve been a competitive swimmer for 15yrs. I had shoulder issues early on but it largely comes down to swimming technique. Obviously it is an overuse issue but correct technique will reduce the problems. Like the video said this exercises and massages will also help but won’t help if the technique is poor it will just go back to being sore

    I have truly learned so much good info from you guys, thank you! I have shoulder pain, but mine comes from sitting at a computer too much in an un-ergonomic fashion. I've cured my symptoms before, and need to do it again, and this video gave me some additional exercises to try.

    I have terrible shoulder pain right now and it's persisted for months. I am a masters swimmer, 64 years old - I swim 4-5 times a week, 2-3 mile per workout. I don't think my pain is a result of swimming, but it sure is hampering my training. I believe it's more from poor posture/mousing and swiping on my phone, etc., because that's when it really flares up. I may have pushed it too hard. but I've been through impingement issues before and it eventually goes away with exercises. Nothing seems to be helping now however - I've even taken time off yet the pain doesn't seem to be getting any better. I guess I need to take your advise more to heart and dedicate myself to those exercises.

      Get a pull up bar to hang on. Really helps. I just got over a bad bout that lasted over a year. Almost 100% improved now by using the bar.

    • @doplinger1
      @doplinger1 2 года назад

      @@1corinthians-138 - I DO have one and use it, but the results seem very temporary. Maybe I’m just not as vigilant as I need to be about doing all these things? What seems to help most is massage, but I can only do that for so long; plus, the soreness seems to migrate from area to area. I’m worried that maybe I tore something, but I imagine if that was the case the pain would be excruciating and never feel better.

    • @1corinthians-138
      @1corinthians-138 2 года назад +1

      @@doplinger1 My pain was really bad, so I used it several times throughout the day. I did go to PT for a few months, but didn't help much. That's when I got the bar. Good luck. 😊

    Thanks a lot, guys! Great tips! I'm actually more worried about my lumbar spine when swimming, though... I', in my sixties and have osteoporosis, so I'm scared of kicking myself into a fracture... I favour the breaststroke, as I guess it might be less harmful to the spine... Am I right there? Could you please post something to help me with my worries? Thanks a lot! ;)

    As a competitive swimmer through college, I found that pain on outside , about 1/3 down, my upper arm was a sign of tendon inflammation and/or joint damage. It was helpful for me to learn the difference between muscle pain and joint damage.
    Is that true for other folks?

    Age 56 and I've i've been swimming a couple of years (freestyle), and this shoulder injury crept up on me. My symptoms are exactly to the tee as Brad describes. Is this the same as Frozen shoulder? (since range is limited in multiple directions). If not, would the PT prescription be similar?
