I just had a great idea: you surf pipe where you kill it and localize the shit out of the place and then let Malibu surfers localize Malibu and do whatever they do on that wave and I’ll just do what I do on the East Coast and we’ll all be happy! If you truly care about the planet then quit flying everywhere and increasing your carbon footprint. It’s not good!

Malibu/Ventura local growing up. Haven’t surfed Malibu point in 10+ years cause of the crowd/vibe factor. Last time I went out was at 1am on a full moon with my dad. Had the place to ourselves. I’ll leave it at that! Glad you got some good ones!

so, you know how the best waves in Hawaii are all about respect, the line-up and a pecking order? That's because you can easily die on those waves and the old Black shorts would enforce the rules. Here in California, other than a rare few times and places, the waves are generally fun, so the lineup is more laid back. The exact reason why Malibu is the ultimate party wave spot is because there's not a single property in Malibu for under a FEW MILLION dollars. It's lifestyles of the rich and famous there and we all know the rich and famous do whatever the hell they want, they take the wave. There's no such thing as snaking or dropping in on someone at Malibu....these are the expectations you need to have before you paddle out.

You used the term "burning" and "snake" wrong. Burning someone is what that guy did to Koa @ 6:45 - it's the same thing as dropping on someone. Snaking someone is paddling behind someone who had priority to get closer to the peak in order to then gain priority over them.

I love seeing a real professional surfer not only tear it up at local wave from my house, but also comment on how crowded that place is. Puts things into perspective for me haha
The part that should most intrigue... Is knowing "da BU" why would you not bring your own KinEGrines (grubs) + h20 so your not loosing time on the road and focus an all day at the beach.../they bought the boards --fuel for your machine (is always first mention) The most unmentioned-underrated is conditioning.

I surfed Santa Monica bay for a while 20 years ago. There are a handful of good and even great waves like Malibu. There are also 10 million people near them, and great access by car. That means every single good break is always crowded. Malibu is the worst, because it's a long wave with a small take-off area, and it's famous thanks to GiGi and Elvis or whatever. The water quality sucks too, because the Hollywood elite fought a sewer project back in the 80s and are still on septic systems which leak into Malibu Creek. All beaches east and south on Malibu have pollution issues because the entire Los Angeles basin drains into it and Long Beach. LA is a filthy city. Takes the fun out of surfing. I suggest going North of Country Line or South of Seal Beach if you wanna surf in So Cal. Crowds mellow out as you head North or south...

Grew up surfing Malibu and it gets out of control... State ruined 3rd point when they dug the creek to its "Natural" spot, actually was a nice left before the change in creek. Used to be an actual 3rd point, 2nd point and 1st point and only on a big south swell did it truly connect. Now it's a zoo with just on long wave and everyone drops in on the next guy... should of went further north and hit up Zeros, Leo or County Line. Or find someone in the military and hit Mt. Magoo...
