It's been over 30 years since I last surfed Malibu. Sadly, I can't envision any circumstance that lure me back to hassle with that crowd. Even watching it on the webcams on a crowded day sends my blood pressure to dangerous levels.
I recently saw a picture of Malibu from 1906. The famous pier is there because it was recently built to receive agricultural supplies for a nearby ranch, and there's a small building in front of it to store supplies, but beyond that there is NOTHING there. No houses, no cars, nothing at all. To think of that wave peeling unridden for thousands of years... man, If we had a time machine. lol
@@factchecker6674 Random spot for this one eh. Youre meaning to say the current DA is fundamentally behind the overcrowding of Malibu - one of the most pristine cliffside coastal shorelines on the Pacific Ocean that sits outside of one of the biggest cities in the country? Christ
To me, the best Malibu is by moonlight. Otherwise, just too Zoo'ed-out to be fun - even if you're getting good waves from the crowd. Hurricane Marie was pretty good, at Maxing outside First Point... But there were so many people paddling blindly for the shoulders, with eyes the size of saucers, that it was almost impossible to get a barrel, or do a turn where you needed to... Just a full on Slalom Course. On the Friday of 4th of July Weekend, I pushed on past, to Secos, and was happy with the decision. There were overhead sets breaking on the outer reef, though pretty infrequently (two at a time, mostly - and a half hour apart)... But if you committed, and sat outside, you could get rides to the stairs. And it was much more civilized, and less crowded.
Best waves I got at Malibu were full moon rides. Grunion running and head high! With the one exception of Sarlo hooting me into an overhead wave at dawn patrol.
When I was young I would battle the crowds and not really care. Now that I’m in my 50s no it’s not worth it. I’d rather surf a beach break with close outs than deal with that crowd.
Would I surf it? I used to when I was young to get in a scrap, then when I was taking Lexapro, but now, in my older age...no way. It's not worth the chance of ending up yelling at some poor schmuck. It would be great if you could do a mic'd up version of 3rd point and see what it really said in the lineup. It wont be pleasant.
Malibu 2nd and 3rd break are not nearly as crowded as 1st. Get em on an off day and ride a foamy. look out for rocks. Overall better off going north. Just stay away from me 😂
There are always a few airquote "pros" hogging every wave with sky high attitude. Otherwise, crowded but livable. Definitely more fun during the week. Think good thoughts and relax! 🤙
At 6:25 not sure who this guy is (he rips) but it seems he would land his final aerial, on both these 2 waves (2 consecutive waves here), if he goes for the full rotation 360. He only spins about 180 and then seems to give up on it. He is so close. Gotta commit next time. Full rotator.
Is the crowd just chill and the vibe is party waves? I can’t wrap my head around the amount of drop ins without people getting really angry. Come try that in Hawaii and Someone will take it to the beach. Don’t get me wrong, town has spots that are known learners beachs so this would be similar but try it at bowls or a better spot and you’re gonna have a bad day.
No , not with the crowd, its dog eat dog out there,. There are other good wave spots that are crowded in SoCal but you don't experience such blatant dropping in . Keep up the good work son, you got a future in the surf video world.
This spot is way to crowded and all you're showing are shortboards. this is a classic longboard wave and has been since the days of Dora. Get with the program dude.
My friend has a very appropriate nickname for this circus...."Domino Beach". You can watch some very good surfers here. But sadly, it often hosts the biggest collection of spastics ever assembled at one beach.
@@valeriejohnson2770 a "kook". You're hilarious. Leo Carrillo has been crowded since Gidget met Moondoggie there. I hope you're kidding, because if you think my single comment will make Leo Carrillo crowded you may want to reconsider your latest SUP purchase. On second thought, just try to have some fun, and if the lineup's too crowded for you paddle in and enjoy the show from the beach.
As a surfer in LA, it makes me feel super violated just by walking on the beach pre/post surfing in my bikini I know men in public can do creepy stuff but I don’t wanna see it from our surf community. Especially my local one - hope this is seen.
Hi! Super appreciate your content! But can u consider laying off the bikini shots of random girls on the beach?? The content doesn’t need that -(a local LA surfer girl)
There’s porn websites for that. I don’t need to see women who didn’t consent to being filmed and broadcasted on the internet with the intent of objectification. Especially from one of my home breaks in our surf community. Remember what surfing spirit should be about. Reconsider what spaces you’re demanding men get to be ‘perverts’ in, no matter what.
What is w the cheesy narration? You’ve been making vids for a while now and don’t have many subscribers for a reason. Film is an art form - not whatever the heck it is you think you’re doing. Less is more homie

Well, not completely unridden. I'm sure the dolphins caught a wave or two back then. 🙃
I just loved seeing my local spot on RUclips. Thanks, Brad
its just such a low-key spot that's why there's 5 cameras on Surfline for it

Stoked to see more women surfing in your videos! 👏🏻💕
Girl is just walking down the beach and this creeper over here with a massive zoom is making sure to get that footy to boost his views.
Mad creepy
YES, please post more Malibu
Just need more swells.

full rotation is a whole other level. He needs like another 10 degrees to get the tail towards the beach to ride out of it.
Took my booger over there once to see the reaction. Was EPIC!
This would explain why it's smart to spend $1000 for trip to indonesia. Up to $5000 is still worth it, i think.
my ding repair guy is screaming
Sick edit.
Thanks!
no logs this day? seems like a lot of shortboarders

Malibu is Malibu.

Surfed it on many a full moon nights...uncrowded. Brad how about some full moon shoots ?
ill bring the bus and all my friends next full moon!
No. Surfed it over 50 years ago and it was madness.
Not many breaks in the area? Is that one of the reasons it's so packed?
I’ve yet to have a good experience here. But maybe just need a better spot and board
DORA would be appalled
It was crazy crowded back then too but he had his own way of clearing his waves ;)

Where these taken Friday July 1st in the morning?
Which crowd is worse? Lowers or Malibu?
Good question. Both are insane.

Very true.
