    Obviously, carbon fiber is cool. But what are the benefits of a carbon fiber driveshaft? Dave, from QA1, is here to help us out. He'll explain exactly how his company creates these high-quality products, who they're for, and why you're definitely going to want one.

    No doubt that people will find a performance benefit out of them, and no doubt they will come down in price eventually...but $1800 is quite eye-watering when a comparable aluminum one is half the price

    Would like to see actual 1/4 mile times between an aluminum and a carbon drive shaft. I bet not alot of bang for your buck for one of these.

      A less than 1HP gain won't show on acceleration times. The benefits is in the driving reposnse. The engine is more directly connected to the tires because the twist, or slack delay, in the OEM driveshaft is eliminated.

    Installed one of these on my SL55 AMG, one of THE best mods I did, the car accelerates better, revs harder and with just a carbon driveshaft and long tubes my car stock ran 12.4 at 114 and after those mods it ran 11.8 at 125

    Ran a QA1 carbon driveshaft on my old 2015 s550 for couple years. Had zero issues and was way better than my factory 2 piece driveshaft. My car was also daily driven as well. Rain or shine out here in Texas. I will be buying another one for my 10r80 2018 car here shortly.

      Drag radials, stick shift, non drag suspension created wheel hop which will destroy any driveshaft. Lots of drag racers use these with no issue.

    Carbon Fiber is not designed to take a shock load! If you do a hard launch with one of these it will turn in fiber shreds and powder.

    • @jaywlambert

      These are specifically designed to allow for some "twist". This isn't some random carbon tube meant for another application, they are wound for this exact purpose.

    Would a carbon fiber driveshaft be good with a 2015 V6 Mustang that’s pretty stock except for exhaust, headers CAI and a tune? Durable?

    • @TOX_Ron
      @TOX_Ron 2 года назад +1

      You pay what you get for. More durable, lighter, and like the guy said in the video you would 60 ft better. Totally worth it. But if you plan on keeping the car just full bolt on than this would be a great start to get the weight down

    • @brentrichards1200

      The v6 Mustang needs a 1-piece drives driveshaft more than the GT.

      At that power level it would be a waste. You’re talking about spending approximately $1500 on a non-boosted V6.

    Carbon fiber is susceptible to cyclical degradation. Look at the OceanGate sub that just imploded. Eventually, that thing will grenade with enough toque and power. If you want huge power you better get custom steel.
