I am not getting implants but my younger brother. He is 49 years old. Two years ago he had root canal’s done on top teeth. The crown came off. One of them because the root canal failed. He was at the dentist. They told my brother that all of his top teeth need to be pulled. The root canal’s failed. His bone health is good. The dentist has given him choice between traditional bridge. Which will not last as long. Or implants my question is do you think. He should get second opinion from another dentist??

“Emotional” doesn’t even begin to describe it. Most American’s gross annual income wouldn’t cover the initial surgery. Insurance doesn’t cover it. Then add in every other expense because a person can’t only pay the dental bill. This is the kind of thing that will drive someone to the brink of thinking “the world is better off without me”

Yes I am was one of those people. My teeth were not healthy and I didn’t have the money to fix them. I had them pulled at low income dental clinic in February. They charged based on our income. These places don’t give you dentures. So I bought some really pretty face masks off Amazon. I can be in public and no one knows. I am missing all my teeth. Eating I am back on the same type of solid food. I was before my teeth were pulled. Except for crunchy hard stuff. Yes it was sad that I lost my teeth. But I have a lot to be grateful for. The dentist who pulled those teeth. Stopped infection that was spreading. It was only matter of time before. Things would become life threatening. Eventually I will have dentures it might be few years. But I will get them. Whether it is teeth you can’t fix or something else you can’t afford to do. You got realize the most important thing. Is you with or without teeth. Are still the same person. You aren’t ugly or failure. Sometimes things happen that are beyond your control. It does get better you just take one day at time.

After a complaint to the Dental Board & consultations with other dentists who contacted him, he refunded me the $3,500.00 so another dentist could re-do the bridge.

Invention of All on 4 is really a disservice to the dental patients of the world. From 90s till mid 2000, full arches of implant restorations were done with the traditional design of porcelain fused to noble metal, based on crown and bridge principles. Cleansibility and proper bite were critical to success, in addition to esthetics. Restorations lasting for 20 years or more are the norm. What I see, ever since the movement to All on 4, are inevitable failures of very expensive restorations. Why? Because all the basic principles of crown and bridge design are violated....very very sad!

    • @mattm8441
      @mattm8441 2 месяца назад +1

Cantilever basically just means the unsupported teeth that are not screwed in. They place 4 implants and the teeth on the prosthesis directly below that are going to be supported best obviously, and the further down you go without an implant the less support, so she got the implants weirdly placed too close together. the back two should have been wider, but for whatever reason were not.. and it leaves 3 molars "hanging" in a sense without that abutment support which led to the problems. The fix is to either just remove the end molars with a new prosthesis (I don't know if they would just "cut them off" the current one) so it's less pressure, or fix what the original dentist should have done and place the implants in a proper location. That means 2 new implants which likely would cost around $5,000, plus a new prosthesis probably? And no idea what that is, but I'm sure if a single crown runs you around $750, that's also in the mid thousands. I bet if she had it completely fixed to her satisfaction, at a decent dentist, she's probably looking to pay at least $7,000, and often closer to the $12,000 she was quoted to fix it. You never know what it will cost or how good the dentist is because they don't have price tags. You sit in a chair, they tell you why you need something done, and to give permission to do it, then charge you. It's absolute insanity. But like politics, we know it's totally messed up yet just accept it and support it with our votes/money.

Inform b4 u perform 😉;Bold comments Choi 😊;I appreciate the insight perspective & opinion .
Yes if u can increasing A/P spread via posterior implant support ( less cantilever ) the better , not always possible tho w/resorbed bone( as u know) if there is enough posterior bone for an implant for sure for sure do it
Multi unit abutments loose …….. did they get torqued appropriately to begin with ? Sure if A/P spread isn’t ideal it will torque & rock the abutments loose So many things that can contribute to how & why things loosen ,
The bite ( occlusion????)6 dimensions of occlusion 🤫
    Vdo,A/P,f/l , pitch,yaw ,roll ????? I’d b curious what a T scan would show w/bite forces ????
Implant placement wrong position ????? None of the implants were loose or failing correct ? CT scan taken ? Hard to tell from video.
Curious if this surgery was done guided or not again so so many factors that contribute to success & failure , clearly the more level & balanced the multi unit abutments are the better …….
Could remake the prosthesis decrease A/P spread to 1st molar ( not 2nd ) change out abutments ( leveling across the alveolar ridge ) that alone could b a dramatic improvement ,hard to say definitively that the implants have been placed in the wrong position I’d need more information , love the feedback interesting case 👍

too bad this Dr in the video didnt say the other Dr didnt put support implants under her molars, because one possibility is that she had no bone there to insert the implants. I understand that if that the case the previous dentist should ve not put mollars there. shame on that loser dentist for making this ;ady paying 50K $ and go through this. big loser!

Dr. Choi you extracted my #31. I barely got to talk to you. All you said was "this one needs to go". I was referred to you for #31 and #18 to be extracted. I chose the 31 and got a second opinion on rhe 18th. They did a root canal and saved my tooth now I wonder if I could have saved the 31. Why didn't you even explain to me why 31 needed to go? Also there was no after instruction and I was bleeding when I left. I see your channel and a completely different dentist. I still have dental issues and looking for solutions but as I said you only said one phrase to me with no explanation. Scarry experience

I think there might be some financial issues with patient that is why previous dentist did not insert an extra implant to prevent cantilever effects.. Second thing is that you can't say that one or two implant are questionable just by looking at periapical xray for this you have to do CBCT Xray... And every all on four prosthesis do have some cleaning and maintenance issues that is not previous dintist fault.. It could be because of patient as well not following oral hygiene instructions not using water flosser.. Etc

Or maybe she can have some health problem as she is not young anymore. I am wondering if the previous dentist send her to have a full check up before dental procedure. In Moldova before they start a major dental work they need some blood test to be done. They never promisse you an implant for life, there are no quarantee it will last. They are the most honest dentist I ever encountered in my life.

These people are thorough and seem quite capable but Jaysus folks, cut it out with language like "I'm a little worried" and "suspicious" Get yourself a thesaurus and slow down your talking. Consider your bedside manner. That's a person there, and a lot more than medical and technical considerations. The same for the specialist; StoP with the "shoulds" instead of "there should be no..." Make it,. "we want to make sure we have smooth edges
