this is the first time i have tried talking entire time for a build video please leave a comment on if you think its better than the videos i do that have music and speeded up build on them all comments negative and positive are welcome
After watching your video`s i bought the spitfire and hurricane from aldi ,not built a model since i was 12 im 52 now and really looking forward to it.
@@Jacky_man542 i came back to modelling after a break of nearly 20 years i am 50 now and found my old models in the loft this xmas and i am thinking of doing a video showing them
Prefer the talking style video but that is just my opinion. One thing I did want to say is that I think your presentation, approach to your audience and just your general attitude toward the kits and building them is absolutely brilliant. No pretence, no down talking. just awesome mate, keep it up :)
Absolutely excellent video, thank you. I've just got back to building Airfix models for the first time since the 60's and your video is exactly what I needed to introduce me to airbrushing and how to do a complete paint job. And all the tips are most welcome.
Great job of a lovely little kit. I'd already bought all the £6.99 aircraft in the Aldi offer, then I got another five as a Christmas present! Have a great new year and happy modelling.
hope you enjoy it may be a bit tricky to start and i would advise practice before painting a model but once you get the basics airbrushing is great and make sure you clean it well after each use so it dosent clog up
glad you liked it more with no music no i dont have a spray booth what i do is take a old box and use that to spray into i also wear one of the masks with changable filters on the sides so it stops the fumes from going into my lungs if its a really smelly paint i also open windows but try not to use them in the winter because the wife goes mad with the heating costs
Great stuff, thanks for the build, I've bought one of those airbrushes but not tried it yet - did you really airbrush the Humbrol paints out of the little pots? I tried that once and it took ages to unclog the airbrush - how much did you thin? Finally which Windsor and Newton Matt varnish do you use?
I didn't thin the humbrol 66 and that was the underside paint The others I thinned with Mr colour leveling thinner about 70% paint to 30% thinner Windsor Newton galeria acrylic mediums Matt varnish Comes in a 250ml bottle and it's yellow colour label
I got the same kit for Xmas. Knowing my missus - she probably got it from Aldi. I was just wondering - did you get the decals included in the kit? I ask because there are none in my kit. 😢 Great vids. Subscribed. Crackin voice too lad!
the decals where in the instructions and yours may be stuck in there if not get intouch with airfix at the spares section and they hopefully will have some to send to you thx for sub
Position of my Aldi airbrush was OK, I can turn the brush and still have an O ring seal so I can use my thumb rather than my first finger. I bet you could use PTFE tape and make your own seal with the button at the front; if the O ring seal was not working. All the best
This turned out incredible! I'm just about to start modelling, and I have the messerschmitt starter kit, and this video will be an amazing help! In regards to the decals, do you put anything down first before applying? Many thanks!
Yes I always try and use decal solution but if your starting out in all honesty it's not something you need but is useful as it helps to stop silvering I have used loads of decal fix solutions and personally the best I have found is Mr mark setter but micro sol is just about as good And welcome to the hobby is extremely relaxing and fun to build kits
@yorkshiremanmodels many thanks chap! Will hopefully get started on mine this weekend! Look forward to more content, the talking defo works FYI. All the best in the new year!
just had a look and you can still get the mk1a spitfire from ebay in starter set form but it looks like airfix now just do the mk5c in starter set and the mk1a in kit form only
@@yorkshiremanmodels annoying, wanted to do this one as my first ever kit! Looks like I’ll be making a trip to ebay then. Just discovered your channel and subbed, looking forward to future builds (ww2 is my favourite model era)
I wanted to get a sparmax airbrush kit but donr think ir will be a good idea as i live with my parents and the only really room i could airbrush in would be my bedroom which im gessing wouldn't be very safe as dont they creat alot off airborne particles and alao mess
it was a cheap airbrush at the time from aldi they soon sold out and not sure if you can get them or not try aldi website to see if they have any in stock
@@yorkshiremanmodels I want to start modelling aeroplanes again having retired and collected quite a stash but remain nervous of buying a 'full on' airbrush due to cost but. This article showed such experiments can be conducted using these cheap 'cake decorators' as they appear to be advertised. So your video has encouraged me to perhaps bite the bullet. I also like the way your pin wash brought out amazing detail all over but especially, underneath your lovely spitfire so, thanks for that.
@@randlerobbertson8792 your welcome pal Model making has never been so good with products being available for making kits from cheap airbrush to cheap artist oil paints all helping to improve our models
I’ve been hand painting for ages and I need an airbrush £10 is wow I’m off to Aldi tomorrow for definite what’s the name of this airbrush? Thanks. Nvm I’ve just found it and it’s not available anymore 😢
think they have got better models out now had it 2 years and its still going strong my daughter has left paint in it a few times and i have had to give it a proper clean but it still works great

Just the right tempo, easily explained, concise and to the point, good job.
Like the commentary, it adds a load of character and information :)

cheers for the reply
i now just do talking videos and have given up on the music format
Love the Airfix starter kits! Think I’ll stick with brush painting in 1/72 scale, a lot less clean up required.
got to admit its a pain especially when its lots of colours
the end results are worth it though when it goes right
The camo paint looks nice and flat and laid down well.
the flat varnish helps blend it all in and makes the model look more "life like" in my view
@@yorkshiremanmodels Io ho trovato le vernici del set secche e decals che si spezzano, ma non era un kit airfix.

Thanks 👍

Do you have a compressor that you sue with the airbrush or do you just need what come with the cheap airbrush kit?
the black square bit below the airbrush is the compressor and its rechargable
