It has been close to 40 years since my last build, a 1/48 Monogram F-105G Wild Weasel. Hope to get back into it, but have not set up my airbrush yet. Watching videos like this gives me confidence to try hand painting with a brush. Have several hundred kits stashed over the years, including a bunch of 1/72 Airfix planes. Thanks for helping old guys like me get back to what we so enjoyed when we were younger.
I have made more than one model in this hobby but I still like to watch Videos about the basics. Your video is incredible. Your tone of voice and instructions are great for the new hobbies of any age. It will give them the confidence that they can do this. The tips and hints and knowledge you give are excellent keep it up. Thank you
wow, thank you. I really appreciate this comment. I like showing people how straight forward and easy things are. I understand we all have to start somewhere :)
I'm a second time beginner from years ago as a kid....your video shows the process for all the points needed to complete a well constructed model kit for beginners who are not sure where to start.
You made that look easy. Excellent tips! Just built the Titanic and now finishing off a plane build. A few more goes and I might be able to get close to what you’ve done here!
Excellent tutorial thank you. Exactly what I needed as an absolute beginner. A solid, well laid out overview that assumes no prior knowledge, but without so much detail as to cause my head to spin. I've just been given a Battle Of Britain Flight Memorial set for my 50th, and the last time I touched a model kit I was in single digits. You've saved me from romping in unprepared and making a right state of things. Off to the shops for some cocktail sticks methinks! Cheers.
This is a great starting point. Love the video. I have this exact starter kit. I've recently returned to the hobby and sometimes I get bogged down with not knowing what to do. This is perfect!
I'm really glad this video helped you out. This kit is actually a fantastic place to start and it's so easy to get a nice result from it. Good luck and I hope you enjoy building and painting this kit :D
Built this last wk end with my 13 yr old grandson he really enjoyed him self his first ever model i helped as well as i used to build these in my younger days, but i have to say we were let doen badly by the paints one pot was solid another really very sticky and other two had seperated so we did not paint it but he was well happy any way we now have a red arrow to do now i hope he continues to make them and spend less time on his laptop.
thats great. I'm hoping with this channel to get more people involved in model making as its such a fun and amazing hobby. a lot of people have trouble with the paints, if you contact Humbrol, they should be able to replace them for you.
This is a really good tutorial, I brush paint my scale models (tanks) and I struggle with getting the best paint job so it would be nice to see some tips / tricks to improve, looking forward to see the next videos !
I prefer brush painting and you’ll be happy to know most of my planned videos on this channel will be showing you how To do paint models using a brush rather than air brushing
Come back to plane modeling from snap fix kit like Gundam and others. Using the technic I learn from snap fit kit I can made a good plane kit. Good tutorial video by the way.
Brilliant. Thank you, you may as well be here at the start of this channel as well haha. I want to do more than just warhammer and this channel gives me that excuse now 😁
@@thatmodelmakingguy263 exactly, always a pleasure catching your content mate. You’ve grown loads from strong foundations so excited to see what else you get up to on this channel!
I really like your videos, your videos got me started on WARHAMMER 40k as I had the starter edition. I have been looking at the airfix stuff in my model shop. Not sure yet as I have more space marines to build.
I know your pain, but the little 1/72 aircraft are nice builds and don't take a lot of time. doesn't take up a lot of space either to get out now and again. this starter kit is a great start
Thanx for the vid very useful.question I was going to use pippette to place acrylic paint then water on pallette also in between coats do you usually just mix up another paint batch?
Good to see you had the same problem with me regarding the spinner - it definitely doesn't fit lol. A suggestion for next time is to use a contrasting background rather than white as it will make it easier to see what you are doing (the grey sprues blend into the white background). Other than that, good video!
thank you, yeah ai saw a few people with the same problem, I guess its the kit. The white is a style choice for me. it may change in the future as I figure things out though :D
I was a big fan of quick kits and I'm gonna be honest a lot of what he was trying to show people and that you don't need to be a "professional" and it is just a hobby is kind of the vibe I want to bring to this channel
I said to put another coat of paint on after the first coat of paint dried so how long does the paint need to dry and does the poly cement and paint just dry on the makeshift palette oh and how warm do I have to make the water to wash the model and what soap do I have to use
Good one! Instead of scissors, which may be bit clumsy for smaller details i would introduce any kind of nail clippers nad any kind of stanley knife. To be honest two better brushes and few cheap bits from home depot will be enough even for more complex modells. only thing i found hard to avoid "for modellers equipment" tax was cheap acrylic primer spray paint from home depot as original nozzle sprays too much paint. You can get skinny nozzles from professional spray paints shop for few pennies and then you have little or no difference when comparing to tamiya or vallejo
some great advice :D this tutorial is aimed at those who kind of want to try the hobby out and I didn't want to expect people to invest in expensive supplies straight away and then find they don't like it. I'm working on a more sort of general tutorial with more familiar tools and ways of doing things
Good job, that looks like a nice starter set. Some of them are a real pain as they come from really old molds. Have you ever built a Tamiya kit? Some of Their motorbike kits are fantastic. An old tip for the tube glue is to run it down a sewing pin for more accuracy. I look forward to seeing what you build next.
All the new airfix starter kits are great and quick to do. I havn’t done any Tamika kits before but I will definitely be doing some on the channel in the future. I’m looking at kits I want to do at the moment 😁
@@thatmodelmakingguy263 awesome, you have helped me out with all the Warhammer tutorials so if you ever want any advise on kits etc I'd be happy to help if I can. So many great kit manufacturers these days and so many different subjects. As a general rule, bandai gunpla kits and tamiya kits are a very safe bet for good quality affordable kits. Airfix and Revell are a bit more hit and miss but both do some really nice stuff.
