You are who I want to be positive, kind, skilled, encouraging, and inspiring! Thanks for being your amazing self Shaun! You too Alex you are so good at filming amazing footage!
OMG !!! I live just beside Richmond school and see my truck on your video 😂. I started inline skating this spring and have been learning and enjoying inline skating with your channel. I will practice stairs at the same place tomorrow🤣. Thank you all the time for quality video and tutorial !!
Possibly your best tutorial, Shawn! I thought I knew how to ride stairs forwards and back, but this gives me a lot of fundamentals to improve even more. Love that you had a willing student in Christine -- rooting for her at the end. Can't wait for part 2.
I've been watching some of your videos and you make me feel like I can do everything on skates. Thanks for all your tutorials, they are clear and simple. Finally, I just wanted to say that I love your videos rolling everywhere. I wish someday to develop a beautiful and precise technique like yours. (Namaste, and hugs from Colombia)
Hey man, I've been watching a few videos of yours and I really want to thank you for making them because I learned so much and my passion for rollerblades kept increasing with them. I hope that you and your family are doing well! Stay safe ❤
Un petit "coucou" d'un admirateur dans le sud de la France. Vos vidéos sont si bien faites et vous m'avez l'air tellement sympa !!! Thank you for everything and NAMASTE
Shaun. Thanks a lot for this video I was (probably not only me) waiting for going downstairs from you long time & it was worth cause u r the best instructor in whole you tube ( perhaps a guy from Russia is on your level). Greetings from my holiday of course with skates.
Great vid, Shaun! Awesome seeing Christine's first fakie stair bash. The local skatepark has a decent set of stairs, 5 steps, good rise/run ratio, but no handrail, and it's flanked by low ledges. KInda hard to work up the nerve to go down that fakie... hopefully now that school is back in session here, I'll have more room to practice...
This is very well explained. I particularly liked the tip about finding some with grass to the side so you can get a feel for it without having to go down all the stairs in one go.
Great tutorial and demonstration, thank you. I've only been rollerblading for three months and I started practising going down stairs yesterday. Well, one step...
Great tutorial! Awesome that you can find good stairs to practise on there in Calgary. All the stairs here in Australia have raised dots at the top and bottom to help blind people and hinder skaters!!
I like the skates that u are using brother ,i am a beginer SKATER and ur videos are VERY helpfull,Its hard to get good skates like yours in SOUTH AFRICA
Shop Task does ship world wide and we offer free shipping on Wizard skates. I believe you could also check out Lino Shop. Thank you for the nice comments. It is my mission to help reach the world to skate.
Great video. Also, make sure to keep your skates straight and firm. Once the bouncing starts people lose concentration on the skate angle. If your skates bounce and drift into each other, it will cause a mishap
I have the problem that the grind block of my aggressive skates tend to stuck on the stairs so i fall over. Any tips to solve this? My approach would be a heel pivot (or toe pivot backwards) which really sucks with shock absorbtion during riding the stairs...
Okay, after testing this out on aggressive saktes (flat base): Going forwards is very hard, i managed 4 stairs only with a handrail. Going backwards is much better, managed to ride down 7 stairs (wide, long stairs of a skatepark, but no handrail). It was really scary at the first time, but also really satisfying and will definitly turn some heads in the park ;-) The difficulty is lower than expected if you have proper posture.
Don t know if I missed it , but would be really interesting to see in a video how to adjust to an unexpected situation. Example: you are stair skating and you must stop or avoid an obstacle . I know it s advanced , but would definitely solve some scarry feelings
Newb here former agressive inliner, skier and skateboarder. Just Picked up a pair of three wheel twister 110s. Do you think going on the grass is bad for the wheels and bearings? I live on a massive hill and want to try ways to slow down. Definitely gonna pick up one of your shirts eventually
Can somebody help me with turning? When I scissor my legs, I automaticly start turning to the side of my back leg. I dont understand how everybody does it so they turn to their forward leg. Im sure Im doing something wrong but I have no clue what.
Bill Stoppard once told me that I shouldn't learn stair rides using 3-wheelers. What your take on that? I sport the Powerslide Swell Lite 100 Trinity currently but I also managed to get my hands on a Rollerblade 4-wheeler 80mm that I could use instead.
What can I say after all these comments, just join to the ones that thank and appreciate your contribution with all of us. Something maybe that has not been said: does the wheel size affects? I mean is it easier on NR100s? And do you find easier on PR80 x 5? Thks in advance! By the way Ive been waiting all day for watching this at hotel as I am run out of data, 😆!
I find that wheel size doesn’t have a big effect. Anti rocker setups are difficult to learn stair rides with. Though I do think it is easier on any Natural rocker frame.
Great tutorial and good timing too! Isn't stair ride the Back to Blading August challenge? 😃 Now I just need the perfect set of stairs, this is something I started practicing on the 90s, before I stopped skating, and never was capable of. Now is the time for sure 😉 Thank you so much for everything Shaun.
your movies I have learned a lot, so far I have the best with a beard but I also buy something on roller skates I bought fr skates and I wonder if wizard rails will come up and it is a different ride, but with a visa, well, but something for something, maybe someday I will be able to buy
@@FlowSkate yes, I have a few stairs that are 3 and 4 stair deep but only about 3/4 of my skate fits on the stair when I stand on the steps. I pretty much just jump those stairs since I have no idea how to take such steep steps yet. Is it even possible to take really steep steps?
Ive never been comfortly with the backwards skating....i cant stay in control. Why??? :( I can jump, go downhill, turn fast, all of that but going forward. Not going backward....
Is this more difficult with larger wheels ? I have 3x110. Btw, I haven't really fallen backwards, but I have fallen forwards, but didn't get hurt. I've tried 3 sets of stairs, 4 sets of stairs and fell on 5 sets of stairs. I've been skating for a month.
Shaun, and do you also cover how to ride stairs with a really short run, shorter that your frame? Because if we take long stairs like in this video, well, that is probably a piece of cake for most people. Even I could do this. )

Congratulations Christine 💪
Wait until you see tomorrows video. Christine conquers a 15 set.
Does wheel size/ number of wheels have any bearing in how you would approach this?
Technique is always the same. Anti rocker set ups make this difficult but anything 72mm and up will be just fine.
@@FlowSkate Heh - that rules out the kid's aggressives ... that can be video 3 ... how to do stairs on aggressives :)
Thanks for this video, what an incredible supply of material. Greetins to Christine!

Thank you guys. You really help to improve my skating skills. Regards to all
Thanks for the thorough tutorial! I love that you let us see Christine learn a new move, too. Yea for women skaters!
Yeah is right! Sometimes female skaters do not get the recognition that they deserve. IMO female skaters often have much better technique and style.
Great video! Now, is this harder with bigger wheels? Because I have 100mm but I sometimes face stairs
Is this the same strategy?
Same strategy. Nothing changes. The big wheels go down the stairs really well but the extra height can make landing steep stair cases more difficult.
Oh okay!!
Thanks you very much
