Great tutorial, with most important aspects covered! In addition, a few tips that could be useful for beginners: Sliding parallel can be easier when front foot in slide is put a bit forward before going in. This way the front foot will be already closer to where it should be when sliding. Then both feet only need to be turned sideways. No need for front foot to travel around back foot while making balancing and direction matching harder. Also be sure to go in with the upper body first ( turn sideways). No need for sudden movement here which at first can put the body off balance. Just prepare the front foot and upper body, to the closest pose possible, then execute the rest. Good thing that Ricardo Lino mentioned not to jump into the slide and be weightless. Would add that it can be a small weight shift up and down, to allow extension of legs and to "sit" on the hip. Just barely enough to extend the legs without moving any body parts/weights to the sides. But for sure not a jump. One more helpful exercise could be getting into sliding pose without any speed and then getting back to the riding pose back. It will be hard to stay in that leaned/angled pose and to keep it as long as possible. It will last for a second at most. But it's a good exercise to coordinate the upper body correctly and place/stop feet exactly where they should be.
at first seemed like a little bit too much talking, but it was wroth it to listen - lots of good theory to understand how it works in practice. Brilliant. Thanks a lot.
I'm loving your tutorials. Haven't skated in 25yrs but all of these skills i know, but am truly appreciating the lessons to bring me back to speed before starting again tomorrow. I have Next Charcoal 90 coming tomorrow. Very excited. Starting slow, and safe though. Thank you!
It is ludicrous for you to be explaining stuff this good! What a patient yet very straight to the point way of expressing your self... A true master. Keep up the good work :)
so sad the skating community don't get so much sponsorship like some others like the photography and media. Just see this guy Peter McKInnon with 4.95mill subs.. How can we make the skating brand as popular as that?
Nice video! I'm going to have to try that "swirl" drill during my warm up before sliding. I've been carving to warm up, but I really like this idea of committing to the swirl until you feel the slide happening. Very nice & complete lesson, thank you.
After years and years of aggressive skating (about 24) I've started freeskating about three years ago, totally love it. Learned to slide pretty well. Now haven't skated in a while, totally lost it... grrrr. Thanks for the tips Ricardo, sliding less than 90 degrees is a good one. Will give it a try!
Hi men, I’ve 29 years old and I bought a Flying eagle f6 flacon, 10 days passed from then and I was stated to saw your videos and now I can go to the office in the skates, it’s near to my home but anyway I’m so happy, thank you men, God bless you
My name is Joseph mwandwe from Zambia and I have been watching your different RUclips and through inspiration I have learnt how to skate now thank you so much 🎉🎉🎉
jumped right in to slide, into backwards or power slide instantly, very scary The spiral practice was the key on get use to the wheel grip. Thanks for this tip:)
Good job, man. I can see that you've not only progressed in your parallel sliding, but your understanding of the technique and the various factors that affect it.
Hey Ricardo, thanks for putting this together. I think the little hip twist is the best piece of advice. Be Elvis on skates and get the twist down. That's the magic. Speaking of magic...what do you think of the 'magic-slide'? Where you're sliding your front foot like a parallel slide and the trailing foot is kind of dragging...both feet on the inside edge. Not sure if I've seen you do that one. But I see some guys doing it a lot. Guys like Greg Mirzoyan. Talk to you later and keep rolling.
"Now let me show you a few examples" *vid jumps to Warframe commercial* o.O Nice vid mate! Good explanation and examples! Hope to see some more tutorials for all sorts of tricks
Sliding from a slalom weave is not something I had considered! I executed a perfect slide a couple weeks ago but even right after I did it I wasn't sure what I had done to set myself up. Lol 😆 Now I think this is how I did it since I do like to weave in order to kill speed when I have the space.
@@RicardoLino I appreciate your honesty, it's the same for me here I am getting older and for now I am happy if I can get people out to skate. Have fun rolling.... ✌️
Thanks Ricardo for another very clearly explained tutorial - I'm gonna try this tomorrow morning if the weather's good! Great job! Have a fantastic weekend!
You really nailed this tutorial on a move that makes skating so much more enjoyable and in control 😁. Really happy to see your affiliation with Skillshare. Congrats, Ricardo!
Great tutorial. I will try it!! Also i would love to see a video about how to setup frames whit 165mm mounting. Whats the difference of left/right and front/back adjustment. How does i affect the push.
Ricardo Lino OK thanks, i look into that one! BTW i really like your channel! Great work! Looking forward for the Endless Frames i ordered from wheeladdict.shop 😜
Bro that looks do cool! I used to skate back in the 2000’s and i realized the brands sort of changed? I used to have aggressive inline skates and im not quite sure which are the best now.
This drift-type parallel sliding looks so graceful. First I saw it on videos of downhill rollers. E.g. the video "Downhill Roller" (on youtube channel) is very impressive. Here the drift by parallel sliding is a main technique of rollers to slow down, and they do it so effortlessly and naturally that is seems this technique is organic by nature for downhill skating. Thank you much, Ricardo, for good tutorial.
Heheeh thank you so much dude. I really appreciate it but I guess me just plenty other people out there really believe in skating and lote to share it. Lots of love ❤️
2 years later ... YESSSSSSSSS - that sentiment still applies ... and for the same reasons: there's never a better time to start than NOW! Nike ... JUST DO IT! :)
My understanding of it is it's the same thing, except that with the hockey stop the aim is to stop as quickly as possible so as to change direction in a game of hockey, while the aim of the parallel slide is to maintain the slide. But it's basically the same.
Oh I know exactly how it feels to do a powerslide on a skateboard, it should be very similar in terms of grip and the "weightless" feeling, with the only difference that you start frontal and end sideways.
Hey hey man, I wouldn’t say one is better than other. They are different. For different type of boots The wizards with seba SX OR CJS are amazing. The endless fit a wider boot range in terms of good Experience. Also the endless can be 4 wheels slightlyrockered or 3 wheels flat which is cool. But again I would NOT say one is better than 0ther. BOTH EXCELENT
Hi Lino, the Delta F skate you use looks like you have an Intusion liner inside, not? on the Micro skates website it looks like the Delta F has a fixed liner, similar to the K2 Soulslide Skate back in the ´90s or any other softboot those days. Please clarify. Thanks
Hi Ricardo, just a question from a beginner, if u would have to choose between FR1 and Twister Edge X which one would u pick , i'm in between this two and i would need some help if u can . 🙂
Hi Ricardo, I'm a newbie. Just wondering if we want to do slide trick, is there any specific wheels or any wheels will do? I'm useing 80mm 85a and I feel the wheels very stick to the ground.
I'm a beginner for like the third time after having started and stopped so many times. You threw me off with the cold and hot weather traction. Usually hot weather means more grip and cold is less. You said it's the opposite. Was that incorrect or is rollerblading different than normal?
Thanks!
Thank you So very much for this Jair.
lots of love

Good points although I've seen some people who are literally jump into the parallel slide. But that's of course not the technique to start with.
