For an easy VRR check, in Windows Settings -> Display -> Graphics -> Change default graphics settings. If the device supports VRR, you should see a toggle to enable/disable Variable Refresh Rate. If you open it on Rog Ally the toggle is there. Can you please confirm for all of us?
Better off waiting for an AMD ROG Ally 2024 refresh.
Intel has got to do better than this.
More PC handhelds are always a good thing.
its not handheld lol
The MSI BRICK.
In the words of the angry video game nerd... " WHAT WHERE THEY THINKING??"
Good ergonomics/grip , oled panel , full size analogs for true controller feel, good power
I’ve had every one of these handhelds, and it seems like each one of them is always missing one or the other. Idk why it’s so hard to put all of that together and get it right.
Just looks like a black ally with the same bad ergonomics.
Steam Deck performances with Ally power consumptions… great results.
Worse performance than steam deck in some cases as some other reviewers have said and probably double the power consumption of the Ally
My purchase of a Legion Go looks better and better.
I had the ally and took it back to get the Lenovo legion go! Best choice I've ever made! And FPS is on the right joy stick is awesome!!!!
can't wait to play
Love it. The more competitive they are, the better product we receive. I am going to buy steam deck this year but no thing can stop me from getting the second one 😂
i am guessing those who designed the Legion Go ergonomics, were using it like I usually do, as in with my hands resting on my knees, in which case its very comfortable as you hold it from the sides and back, as opposed to wrapping your palm around it. But I do agree, those sharp edges do make it uncomfortable if you are playing with your hands resting on a table. Its a good thing the controllers are detachable as they could be replaced with first or 3rd party replacements, without a redesign that would make it something current users could benefit from, unlike the pitiful grips on the back of the Ally.
Wondering if that dock issue is similar to the Ally psu issue they patched out where chargers other than the official didn’t activate the highest TDP settings.
looks like a great machine, i love claw design
I've been considering buying a handheld for a while now, but every single reviewer seems to turn me off whichever device I'm looking at.
The question I always ask is: What are your priorities? Maximum battery? Maximum performance? Flexibility? Ease of use?
-Adam
Very much ergonomic design, panel is also good! Claw is lightweight making it so much easy to handle when playing :) :) :)
I got this to play Last Epoch, as I didn't want to spend a lot on a PC. Since I mainly play on console.
I did the same test on my steam deck. I got 24.5 watt 45,69 fps avg.
almost the same. Though the MSI has an advantage with a beefier fan
23:51 You haven't even taken it out to dinner first...
the screen area is much smaller than the bezel makes you think - maybe they do the same move as like SteamDeck OLED?
Can you confirm that the claw has VRR?
Mai should use Amd chip I like the design
What’s holding back intel is the gpu architecture problems that won’t be resolved in alchemist but will be fixed in battlemage.
He used the XeSS Quality setting toward the end, and it's higher
Yeah ARC drivers and XeSS still need some works
The review you made is very precious for the last consumers. Thank you.
Idk about the claw but on the legion go its a setti g in the bios to boost charging
Ya im not surprised its intel arc vs rdna 3 rdna 3 is always gonna be heads and tales above arc
The limited edition steam deck case is lighter then the solid black case steam deck.
Why does the cpu stuck at 3800 it never moved......bug??
THA CLAWWWWWWWW
Adam can never help himself even when its a first impressions video he has already opened and set up the device. I want to see a REAL first reaction
I guess I could do a pure unboxing in the future for something like this, but 1. I already saw it at CES and 2. setting up Windows and installing all the driver updates would burn an hour easy.
-Adam
@@pcworld Pre production model though right? Fair point about windows and drivers though seems no way around it
Hey guys I just got my claw I’m looking for my skull and bones game code that’s supposed to come with buying the MSI claw, has anyone gotten theirs. I don’t see mine anywhere
This will be worth it after a year of software updates and 20% off.
Rog already get price cut, this handheld doesn't make sense...they should design it like gpd win mini so gaming is not forefront feature
i guess some have tested and checked and supposedly the claw has vrr
@@justswitched8841 the claw doesnt use an AMD chip and you should NOT be installing radeon software on it lmao
the shape looks good for me , at lease feeling better holding than Ally.
I think Ally is too small and rugged shape , don't feeling well when holding , especially it weights twice than Swtich.
When a company pushes the features over the functionality….be skeptical. All the marketing never told you how it performs
how did i miss this live stream… lol
nooooo :(

"Waiting for the load" is what she said. Also, Legion Go ftw.
I got 51 fps avg using the steam deck preset at 1200p on my legion go, performance mode 30w, plugged in, 10w less than the claw, I also ran it at 720p for a direct comparison, same preset, not pretty due to it being stretched out on the 16:10 screen, either way, I got 83fps, the claw sucks
Can you test a eGPU with the MSI Claw?
Why? It’s not indicative of the Claws performance.
don't do it. just buy a desktop
It's so inefficient ! I get similar result on my SD in CP2077 with almost half the wattage. Intel is still behind and I'm not talking about the Z1 Extreme.
AMD FSR looks so poor. DeSS is certainly better looking. From retro game corps, MSI lasts longer than the Ally at 2D but dies fast on AAA. Theoretically, the Arc GPU should be faster. This is just a completely different platform. I wouldnt say Intel is behind. I would say it has a different smaller niche.
@@jheithaus3Intel is behind
What's the best device for warzone?
This will be tough.... i owned sd, rog ally, and now LEGO. Between the 3 i like the lego the most. Maybe a personal preference but it will be hard for msi to beat the legos amd power efficiency right now. Maybe on future updates but intel's weakness is power efficiency. True msi claw has a 53w tdp but that's because intel is power hungry. Seeing the performance as well from another reviewer i can conclude for now that the lego is better in performance... again maybe on future updates msi claw will become better but so as the other handheld will have their own updates tat will make them better as well... even without my lego i might go with ally or sd before msi claw...
Edit: that powerbrickis horrendous...
And... even if they are all handheld consoles msi claw pretty much took insipration from the ally no doubt about that. It is a clear copy of the ally...
I own Legos too.
@nitmare64 the lego is more expensive in my region which doesn't make sense cuz itz the same price of the ally globally so the ally makes more sense
@@carimpest where is your region? Here they sell it for 41k php or roughly 745usd.
@@AnzAnnGaming same, where you can find the ally for 600 or even 550 some times...the legion go its waaay more expensive
This is going to be a flop for MSI, surely they tested it against the Z1 Extreme before it went into production? If not, it will bomb. Nobody wants an Intel APU in a handheld. It will most likely run too hot, needs more wattage to perform and will be held back by the lacklustre support from Intel.
It was probably in production around the same time the other z1 handhelds were. Their target was probably the steam deck.
I’m happy with my Legion Go, but it’s so heavy lol
I think you mean a FLAW.
@@B_Machine Who do you think means "a flaw"
You Mad Bro?!
@@Elam51 Who's mad? Can you explain your feelings?
Can you test battlefield 2042 on it please
AYN Odin 2...🤔🧐
How the mighty Intel has fallen
They made a big mistake going intel. I get better performance with amd at lower watts. Pretty disappointing .
Burn baby burn! It's a first attempt for Intel, we'll see how they evolve in a few years to match AMD.
Welcome to Intel gaming 😂😂
That 90% charge thing looks like a battery bypass feature like Ally
Now that I've specifically looked at how charging works on solutions other than the included charger I can confirm there is something weird going on here. For example, using a 100W GaN charger from Ayaneo plugged into the Claw, it won't take a charge powered off. Once it's plugged in it will then start providing power. Lot's more to dig into here and I have a call with MSI tomorrow to try and figure it out.
-Adam
rofl the ally temps cracy , lucky my legion is cold as hell compared😂😂
MSI Claw the palyable than ROG Ally
I'm mad that there's no 1st-party way of disabling cores. That's what Intel needs for this thing to make sense.
At least I would like to turn the epp way up maybe 100 to keep those core clocks down and feed that teacher power hungry GPU.....
Intel iGPU in a handheld? LOL
What was MSI thinking??
msi screwed, they have partnerships 😢
Intel probably paid for it
I love the look and sounds like it feels amazin, but that performance for the cost is awful...
That's a good summation right now. We'll see in the months to come...
-Adam
Intel sucks on efficiency. These devices need good efficiency to be worth the money. Thats really all there is to it.
Why anyone uses intel is beyond me. MSI must be getting a huge discount on these chips.
There's many reasons why AMD powers every gaming console and handheld (except Nintendo with Nvidia/Tegra).
Only people who'll buy the Claw are RUclipsrs.
So uh it looks uh good.
Uhhhh I might actually uhh get one.
I uh like hand helds but uh always been weary uh about getting one because uh how much you need to uh lower settings but this seems to uh look really good.
Pass on the CLAW, Intel definitely is waaayyyy behind AMD Chips for gaming... now everyone knows why MSI didn't send out early review units and we can see why.
All of the current handhelds are for people that simply have no other real option as they travel constantly or only play non-demanding games, low settings, non locked 60fps, no dlss is unacceptable to me, when handhelds can do 1440p, rock solid 60/100 fps mid/high settings without being as hot as the sun ill be seriously interested
Poor MSI Claw.☹
I watched other channels review ‘’PLAYING’’ not just benchmarking. In COD when played the GPU is 99%, heat is over 100c😂, too much stuttering. It’s the expected flop of Intel chips, the denial reactions of sheeps are always nice to see. 😂 Im excited to see how it’ll melt SD card that has same lay-out as Ally but over 100c.😂
Half of what Adam says is “Uhhhhh.” I doubt he even realizes he’s doing it.
Uhhhnh maybe......
Total BS! i saw a review showing the other charger dont work/don't charge when the device is TURN ON. But work when is off and you're not using it.
Now that I've poked at it more it's all over the place. Example: using a 100W GaN charger (from Ayaneo) it will charge the device ONLY when it's powered on. I have a call with MSI tomorrow and will get more info.
-Adam
weird and strange, are not great terms for tech review.
After seeing the cyberpunk results, this device is garbage. I was able to get 45-55 fps on high with Raytracing shadows, full screen 720p upscalled to 1080p. This device should be cheaper priced than the Ally.
Qnd wince its not reqlly better then the steam deck, its really pointless to buy.
I think msi is long battery life thats all
its not even that. less battery life than the rog ally. check out retro game corps first impressions
@@loz9324 Seem from retro game corps that with 2D games the claw will last longer than the ally, but with any AAA it gulps juice.
Lol flop
MSI Claw - Fail lol
Weak handheld
I don't understand why msi decided to use a laptop charger for a handheld no wonder they didn't include a carrying case your going to need a mini backpack to carry the msi claw and that brick of power adapter.
They could include some scotch tape so you can tape it on like a teenager's bumper. 😊
Seems like a terrible device
