I travel quite often. I have a 15.6" laptop. Which has 4k screen, but is also too big sometimes. So my cellphone is too small for media consumption.
So I was faced with the dilemma of deciding a Mini or just spend the extra $150 to get iPad Pro 11" M2.
I bought both to have time to judge for myself which was going to suit my needs better. I returned the Mini, because the Pro M2 11" is the perfect iPad today, the Mini will be the perfect Tablet in the next release, or perhaps even a Mini Pro.

This was a very helpful review. Thank you for the backpack shots and "wait for September" idea. Great job, sir.

I decided to get the M1 iPad Air because I feel as tho that’s the more complete iPad experience. Your getting all the power you need in a great slim form factor. Beautiful design. And now with iPad os 16.2 I have complete external monitor support. At that point the iPad becomes an amazing value in portability and at home use. I use my iPad for 80% of my tasks at home and especially at school where my iPad has been my only computer. Not to mention gaming for when I want it. Out of the pro, Mini, and Base iPad, I think the Air is always the next step up if you don’t want a base model 9th or 10th gen iPad or if your not sure if you can do everything you need to on the Mini. So the choice became easier to me to just get the IPad Air 5

Thanks for the video. Apple's update history with iPad Mini indicates really long refresh intervals. Unfortunately, I don't think we see an M1 iPad Mini in 2022.

Thanks for the video bro, I currently have an older iPad Air 2 (it’s lasted really well for me) but I think I just need to upgrade to a newer model for my long haul trip at the end of this year

Those iPad Air 2 last forever! I have one I gifted and it is still running well. Apple has an event scheduled next month and rumors are a new iPad will be announced, worth keeping an eye on if you'll be upgrading this year 🙂

Great advice. I was thinking of downsizing but now don’t think it is worth it.

This has been a really helpful perspective. I currently have the 12.9 inch iPad Pro and considering getting the mini, but when I look at how old it is and the M1 in the iPad Air, I’m conflicted and wanna get the air instead. But I already have a big screen iPad. Anyways, maybe I’ll just wait it out till the next mini comes out.

There are so many rumors now swirling around for the next gen Mini, it might be worth waiting a little longer.

Allow me to answer this for anyone wondering, Iv been there, I got them both and this is my conclusion. I loved the idea of having a compact tablet you can use for consumption, maybe make bookings, do some research and take it around on holidays, in car and adventures. Now I Found the mini really cool, however it really did not feel much different from my mobile, not did it bring any more power or anything else for that matter to the table. It was cool but thats about it. Howver the iPad Air 5 M, being about the same price it felt propery, it was much more usuable, it worked faster as the mini felt laggy annd light the air felt solid, fast and strong. The air really felt like I Had more then a pad, i felt like I had laptop only it was much lighted and easy to use. Doing research on the air with the pen, or watching tutorials or just about anything at all felt much more fun and practical on the air. The air gives ne the wow factor everytime I use it, while the mini even though did the same thing it was smaller, and more laggy. Hands down without any doubt, I would say get the Air 5 M1, its the perfect size, power and value. Unless you want something really really small, then get the mini.

Poor battery life, dim screen, many apps not optimized for the form factor and terrible font scaling hinders the Mini 6.

I could live with battery and screen issues (I even notice the jelly scroll) it's the unoptimized apps that really get me. They shrunk the form factor but there are so many parts of the UI that isn't scaled up to make it things easier to read...

I know this is a while ago but you basically stated that the iPad mini had a seven hour battery and then nothing about the air battery and started talking about some googly gook
