I think apple and people forgot the role the iPad was supposed to play. The 11 and 12.9 are to big. It was meant to be something in between a phone and an computer.
That’s something that really bothers me, not only Apple but almost all companies out there. They are producing tablet with above 10 inch just for the sake of replacing tablets. That’s it, hell even Samsung are offering oled screen on bigger models and other companies are doing LCD. There is a tendency to replace laptops
The perfect size is the ipad air 2,ie 9.7, the mini is just to small, put a A15 chip, 4gb ram,in the ipad air 2, it's the perfect ipad in my opinion, the 10 inch plus,11 inch,12 are just to big, the 9.7 Is the perfect size for a ipad.
I think in my opinion, a bigger screen is for pros such as people who draws or do art things for their jobs or doing pro things. Using an iPad mini is kind of small compared to the pro models and the air 2. iPad mini 6 is for people who does minimal tasks like reading an e-book, doing student stuff, or for some people who loves mini things. It all goes down to the preference of the people. I have a iPad mini 6 with me doing student stuff and attending choir practices where all my pieces, e-books and notes are stored here, it is very handy, and doesn’t take much space in my bag. Like I said earlier it depends on the preference of people and companies are providing the option to people who loves bigger screens.
The 11 inch is in between a phone and a computer though Perfectly fine to hold and type on the onscreen keyboard Perfectly fine to hold one-handed while watching or reading something Plenty big enough to slap on a magnetic keyboard and use as a laptop It’s not *as* comfortable to hold as an iPad Mini, but as someone who used to have a Mini and now has an M1 iPad Air, if I could only choose one, it’d be the 11 inch model. It does 90% of what I’d do on my laptop (and the other 10% can only be done on Windows or is a pain on Mac so it’s not like a Macbook would be any better), but much more portably. At the same time it’s also still a perfectly usable handheld device if I take the keyboard off, great for watching RUclips or to draw with. Mini’s still a great device, I used it as a phone replacement in high school and it adequately served both functions to the capacity I needed as a high schooler - but I’d rather carry around a big phone that’s almost an iPad Mini, and also have a bigger iPad that’s easier to lug around than my laptop, than have an iPad that barely fits in my pockets alongside my phone, or worse, just an iPad Mini again and no phone.
I’ve been using my iPad Mini 6 for about a year (in a couple of months) as my cell phone. Since they turned on the option to use a cellular connection in the iPad to also allow phone coverage, it’s been great. I leave the iPhone 11 Pro Max that I have at home, and only travel with the Mini. It’s been a game changer for real in so many ways.
@@fuuz642 I use FaceTime to make calls. I use the phone icon in the lower left-hand corner to initiate the call (and the screen looks like an iPhone dial pad just bigger). If the person wants to go on video, I tap the camera button. I don’t remember if I had to set it up or if it worked automatically.
@@GermericanGuy yeah, I sometimes use it like that too but in order to do that my phone has to be on. I read somewhere a while ago that you couldn't use an iPad as a phone anyway, so I got a wifi only version of the mini. it may have been mistake on my part though

Thanks for the review. I concur with the points you made. A few months ago I purchased an Apple Refurb iPad Mini 6 256GB (cellular). I already have a 2019 iPad Pro 12.9(cellular) and iPad Pro 11 M1 (WiFi). While I love the two iPad Pro’s I have, and plan to keep them, I bought the Mini to fit in my compact 4.5L Tomtoc EDC sling. Now it pretty much travels with me everywhere, unless there is a reason I need to take one of the larger iPad Pros. The Mini 6 is a great size for reading, content consumption, app access, and even catching up on email quickly if needed. It’s also a great size when hiking, backpacking, or cycling, and you want to have a break. I use mine in a Zugu case (my go to case for all iPads), but also recently purchased a small BT keyboard case for it (Arteck). While I have a iPhone 11 Pro Max for phone calls, having a separate iPad to use, even when you’re on the phone, is excellent. Although I have not had mine as long as you have had yours, and I also plan to keep my two iPad Pros, I would not give up my Mini. It stays in my sling ready to go. And I love that it use USB-C for charging, and I now have one charger for everything. (I still have to carry a Lightning cable for my iPhone and my AIrPods Pro unfortunately). BTW I always recommend getting the cellular version of the iPad if you plan to use any sort of apps that depends on GPS. Even if you don’t enable it for cellular data, with a cellular version of the iPad the GPS works everywhere and is a lot more precise. It’s the one regret on my iPad Pro 11 WiFi only purchase, and I did not realize it until after the purchase.)
Proud user of iPad minis since the 1st gen. I have the mini 4 but having owned the 1st and the 2nd generations and never owning any large iPad in my life, I am happy that finally people started to appreciate it. I was a bit scared some years ago because of the rumours of discontinuation of the mini line… and the huge gap between the mini 4 and mini 5, but now, 8 years after purchasing my mini 4, I am ready to pass down this table to my kids and buy the 6. I hope apple is listening to the customers and start paying more attention to the mini line
I bought an iPad Mini 6 a week ago. Prior to this, I had been using an iPad Pro 5th generation 12.9 for a year. I am now selling my Pro because it turned out to be more than I expected. I realized that I wanted portability and lightness. I have been very satisfied with the Mini for this past week. I agree with all the negative aspects you mentioned in the video, especially the screen features disappoint me. When you switch from an iPad Pro to an iPad Mini, you can truly appreciate the difference. Other than that, I have no regrets at all. I use the iPad Mini for reading e-books, playing games, video editing, keeping a journal, and hanging out on social media. I can toss it into my purse and take it everywhere, and I'm really happy with it.
I’ve bee using iPad mini for the last 3 years. I don’t like iPhones anymore. I do everything I can an need on my iPad mini. Love it. It’s a macboook, an iPhone and a tablet in one.

Perfect size and it works so well. I have all the AirPods models and Beats models as well so I use Dolby atmos all day which is such an underrated feature.

Great review! I was/am an Andoid guy but was given an iPad Pro 12.9 with magic keyboard 2 years ago for work. I find it too big but have to use it. I decided to get a mini about a year ago as it had the best reviews for any small tablet. I primarily use it for RUclips viewing and web surfing with some personal stuff. It's been great and so much better than the large relatively heavy iPad Pro. My current set up is a laptop with Linux (yes! no more MS BS), my iPad mini 6 and Pixel 8. I think i have the best of 3 worlds. Thanks again for your review.

I found a mini 6 sealed, brand new, 64GB on Facebook market place for $525 CAD. Even on sale right now it’s $599. Apple refurbished and certified is still $579. Brand new $679. Face ID is something I am just to used to with my iPad Pro 12.9. It’s a 2018 3rd gen so it still has 60hz. Not real bright screen. But I’m waiting for a new mini to come out. Cause I want to now buy the 15 inch MacBook Air. Great video. Thx
May I ask what iPadOS on your 12.9 3rd gen. I have the same one but still on iPadOS 15 and scare to update to 16 or 17 caz I think I would make my iPad slower
The iPad mini 5 is my first and only ios device. Ever since Google came out with the Nexus 7 I realized I do not like 8-12" tablets, too big. Make it the size of a book, give it a good aspect ratio (mini 5/6 suffer here) and you're good. Artist? Like to draw? Need work/business documents? Go bigger. That's it. That's the tablet secret.
I have the mini 6 256lte. It’s glorious. Idk why get an iPad Pro if you have a functioning laptop. Tablets masquerading as laptops are inconvenient. Especially since they are technically the same price.
I’m in a place where I can’t justify getting the Mini. My 11-inch iPad Air M1 is perfect for most of the stuff I do on it, but now and then I wish I had the Mini - just not badly enough to put up with having to juggle two tablets, nor badly enough to wish I’d stayed with the Mini last time I upgraded my iPad (3 months ago). What I wish could happen, is if they’d start offering the iPhone in more sizes. 5.4 inches (mini), 6.4 (between the two current size options), and 7.4. Then let the 7.4 inch version have splitscreen/Apple Pencil/iPadOS keyboard support, but otherwise keep it the same as IOS. As that’s not likely to happen guess I’ll just stick with an 11 inch iPad and plan on upgrading from an iPhone XR to 15 Plus, and have *almost* an iPad Mini in my pocket.
Great video! I was planning to purchase an iPad Air M1 initially however the 256GB variant was out of stock at that time so I’ve purchased the iPad Mini 6th Gen 256GB variant. It was indeed a good decision as the mini is great for media consumption and it’s not heavy to hold. I do some minor video editing with it from time to time and I’m really happy and satisfied with my decision. Tried using the iPad Pro 11” M1, somehow similar size and weight with the iPad Air and I can’t stand holding it for a long time.
Good review! I think you bring up a very good point when you mention that the iPad mini is great to use when you are lying in bed. I've recently bought a tab S9+ because it was incredibly cheap on sale(even cheaper than buying a brand new 256gb iPad mini) but I was honestly so disappointed because it was so impractical to use in bed. I truly feel that smaller tablets are inherently more suited for entertainment because they are much easier to handle and the iPad mini is the only quality small tablet out there.
I just bought the mini 6 it will be my every day carry. I do have the air and that goes with me to jobs for photography. We will see if i keep the air. It was just too heavy all the time that’s why i got the mini
i think makers are forgetting the role of tablets as portable media consumption devices, to watch on the bus or train or hold in 1 hand and read an e-book without feeling the weight makers are trying to make tablets like laptop replacements, pairing them with keyboards or making smart covers to put them in stand mode. there are very few 8" tablets for 1 hand use. maybe cos phone are hitting 6.7" and is getting close to the 8" screens that many makers skip it for 10 or 11" screens.
Well I have the old mini4 with 128k… But it’s getting a little slow… Maybe just get a new battery… But it’s at the end of updates…😢 If they offer a 128k for the mini6… I will get it…Excellent review..
Thanks - great review! I’ll add that it also makes an excellent mobile sketchbook. So much lighter than taking all the paint & gear outside, plus no clean-up. I did get the 256 gig though, as graphic files can fill a 64 gig very quickly.
Your content is good but please please move your microphone to be more focused on your voice than your room. It will be more easy for me to listen. Hope for more great videos i am also considering the ipad mini but me for the money i wish the standard was 128gb, an M2 processor for stage manager and maby a better screen. Where i live the opad mini costs more than the ipad air.
The ipad mini has a great form factor but the screen is terrible. For a device that costs 600€ (where I live in Europe) with just 64GB disc space I expect a good quality screen that doesn't tear fonts or pictures when scrolling. Also I found no option to download ebooks right from my Calibre program. That's why I switched to a Samsung Galaxy Tab s6. It's also light to hold and I can use a stylus without having to charge it. The nib is smaller than that of the apple pencil which is better for writing. The only thing I really miss from the iPad is Procreate.
@@aryan.9 It might not be a big problem but when I buy expensive apple products I can assume that the quality is very good. A big part of a tablet is the display. If it's not a good quality, it's a big downside. I wouldn't mind the screen so much if this iPad costs 300€. But for 600€ this is not acceptable. Even not for Apple. That said unfortunately there is still no competitor from Android with these good internal specs and form factor. And the Tab s6 was the last lightweight tablet from Samsung. So I hope there will be new tablets with this form factor or a revision of the ipad mini with a better screen.
@@aryan.9 Ive had the pro 11 and now the mini and its not a real problem. Its almost like a fad to parrot big youtubers who complained about it. And the performance it amazing for the price
My only complaint with iPad mini reviews I have seen is that they never compare it to regular iPad only the iPad Pro so it doesn’t really feel like a fair review leaving out the regular iPads in reviews
I have an IPad pro 2108. I do alot of Procreate drawing on it . I like to faceid . I don't like the weight of it especially when I'm drawing. since I don't lay the ipad on a flat surface. I tried setting it up as a computer replacement. (I have a windows PC). I got a Logitech keyboard mouse, In the end I just couldn't make the transition. I like the looks of the mini and the fact that it is lighter. I don't do any travelling. So that's not an issue for me. Should I sell my Ipad 11 and get a mini? That's the big question. If I wait until the mini 7 comes out I might me alo to get min 6 even cheaper then they are now. What sre your thoughts? Your video was intriguing and makes me think before I buy a mini.
Update to my previous post. I decided to sell my Mini because the screen is too small for drawing. (IMHO). I got an Ipad Air 4 and I love it for drawing.
Dealbreakers: 1. 60hz screen 2. Poor display 3. Absence of 128GB which would have been the sweet spot like you mentioned Waiting for Mini 7, hopefully releasing this fall. The Mini 6 is not gonna be future proof.
Explanation: TLDR; it's all planned. Those negatives mentioned are intentional, so you'll gravitate towards the iPad Pros (especially, and notoriously, the artificial lack of a 128GB option for "product segmentation")
I am going into the Apple Store tomorrow and I am picking up an iPad mini. Now just for the decision which color option to go with. I think I’ll go with the starlight. I think the 64 GB just fine. Though I do think I will add cellular option on it. Even though I may not need it right now I’ll have it for when I do need it. Looking forward to my trip to the Apple store tomorrow.
Haven't posted on your channel in a good while. Been busy with the ways of life. Anyhow, I think the Mini will probably suit you well considering its alot lighter and you can get but with studying and entertainment. Do you miss you 11in Pro? It was indeed a good decision as the mini is great for media consumption and it’s not heavy to hold. I do some minor video editing with it from time to time and I’m really happy and satisfied with my decision. Tried using the iPad Pro 11” M1, somehow similar size and weight with the iPad Air and I can’t stand holding it for a long time.
Great video. Keep the great work!
It is really good for reading text books for school
Yes
I just bought the mini 6 it will be my every day carry. I do have the air and that goes with me to jobs for photography. We will see if i keep the air. It was just too heavy all the time that’s why i got the mini
i think makers are forgetting the role of tablets as portable media consumption devices, to watch on the bus or train or hold in 1 hand and read an e-book without feeling the weight
makers are trying to make tablets like laptop replacements, pairing them with keyboards or making smart covers to put them in stand mode.
there are very few 8" tablets for 1 hand use. maybe cos phone are hitting 6.7" and is getting close to the 8" screens that many makers skip it for 10 or 11" screens.
Had my mini day one 256 Wi-Fi Cellular still running fast , I don’t have to take my pro 12.9 inch out.
One question does the ipad mini 6 gets hot when you game for 1-3 hours?
I’ve don’t game on the iPad so I can’t answer that but it’s never gotten hot from whatever I do on it
Well I have the old mini4 with 128k…
But it’s getting a little slow…
Maybe just get a new battery…
But it’s at the end of updates…😢
If they offer a 128k for the mini6…
I will get it…Excellent review..
i can't imagine using larger tablets unless they are laptop hybrids like surface or something
I'll just wait for the ipad mini 7th gen, I really hate that iPads these days doesn't have 128gb option.
will the next ipad mini be full screen display?
Thanks - great review! I’ll add that it also makes an excellent mobile sketchbook. So much lighter than taking all the paint & gear outside, plus no clean-up. I did get the 256 gig though, as graphic files can fill a 64 gig very quickly.
Excellent review.
Thank you!
A video on Notion would be great.
Still learning how to use it but definitely a good idea
The ipad mini has a great form factor but the screen is terrible. For a device that costs 600€ (where I live in Europe) with just 64GB disc space I expect a good quality screen that doesn't tear fonts or pictures when scrolling. Also I found no option to download ebooks right from my Calibre program. That's why I switched to a Samsung Galaxy Tab s6. It's also light to hold and I can use a stylus without having to charge it. The nib is smaller than that of the apple pencil which is better for writing. The only thing I really miss from the iPad is Procreate.
I haven’t found the scrolling to be a big problem in my use but that’s another good option!
@@erwinmoreno23 I completely agree
My only complaint with iPad mini reviews I have seen is that they never compare it to regular iPad only the iPad Pro so it doesn’t really feel like a fair review leaving out the regular iPads in reviews
I get what you’re saying. Unfortunately the only reference I had is the iPad Pro as I never used the regular iPads before so I can’t speak on them
bro if u were more consistent, there’s no shot you don’t blow up, love the vids
Thank you! Consistent posts are the plan!
@@aryan.9 plans are only plans if you leave them on the shelf
i always wanted an ipad for my work
Saving every penny to buy ipads. 😵
I Love my IPad mini. It’s great.
Oh the ipad mini is an awesome mini tablet but make no mistake you need the highest gb storage model because you could be sorry later on.
Depends on your use. I have had my 64gb model for almost 2 years and have no issues
I got u,but for me it's always better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.
It’s underrated device
i just bought it thanks for the video
Love my iPad mini!
Great honest review. I know I really liked my Ipad mini 5. It's an awesome device. Thank you.
I appreciate that!
It should come in 2 TB
love your videos!
Thank you!!
great video thanks
Dealbreakers:
1. 60hz screen
2. Poor display
3. Absence of 128GB which would have been the sweet spot like you mentioned
Waiting for Mini 7, hopefully releasing this fall. The Mini 6 is not gonna be future proof.
Not deal breakers in my opinion but definitely negatives
Explanation:
TLDR; it's all planned. Those negatives mentioned are intentional, so you'll gravitate towards the iPad Pros (especially, and notoriously, the artificial lack of a 128GB option for "product segmentation")
@@Jan-xf8sk Agreed. It's all Apple's tactics to make us cave in to their Pro products
They believe that the iPad Mini 7 won't be released until the 2nd half of 2024 by the earliest. Some are even saying 2025.
I love mine
Love mine sold my M1 12.9
what a very tall dude can hold in one hand is not a standard measurement. I can't even operate a samsung galaxy sE in one hand without dropping it.
why cant they release an ipad mini pro version
"content consumption space"--does anyone speak English anymore? Good video.
Hope to have one
I am waiting for 512gb
How much is battery life on it after 1-2 years of your use?. Im very paranoid about battery life on mini 6
It’s been solid. Haven’t had any problems. Lasts me a few days with moderate use. Don’t need to be paranoid
@@aryan.9 thanks!
Sadly it doesn't have an amoled display
Ipad mini 6 is worth it
Does IPad Air have 120hz pro motion? Is IPad 9th gen 500 nits also? Is it to small to zoom with several family members?
Only the Pro models have the 120hz screen. The bigger iPads are better for large zoom calls
@@aryan.9 Thanks.
Can you watch 4K video on RUclips with Mini 6?
Yes but it won’t play back at true 4K since the screen is not a 4K screen
@@aryan.9 What about battery how many hours of screen time you can get from it?
Can it uses an external ssd through the usb c?
Yes
It isn't worth it as of today. Just wait for the next one. For me if you can't wait, buy any of the M series ipad for the future
True. Totally not worth it even though I love the portability
Haven't posted on your channel in a good while. Been busy with the ways of life. Anyhow, I think the Mini will probably suit you well considering its alot lighter and you can get but with studying and entertainment. Do you miss you 11in Pro? After all it was your first primary tablet device that started all (other than the Iphone).
I started using the iPad Pro less and less and I use the mini everyday so haven't missed it much since selling it
Needs face I.D plus 120Hz. That happens I’ll be all over it.
the only logical ipad, when you wanna have something larger take a macbook, cause there you can run real software!
❤❤
the honest truth is "its a waste"
If 64gb its not suit for you ,then give it to me ,i'm gonna take care that for the rest of my life😭😂😂
i love ipad mini.. can you give me your ipad..please..please..please
Sweet video man! keep up the nice work. New sub👍🏼out here supporting smaller channels like mine!
