I own the M2 iPad Pro 12.9-inch for the better lightweight laptop replacement for on-the-go. Since the starting storage capacity of the M2 MacBook Air is now in 256 GB, leaving the storage capacity of my iPhone 13 Pro Max chosen in 256 GB storage capacity mirroring the maximum storage capacity of the final model of the iPod Touch launched in 2019 and discontinued in 2022, I choose the 256 GB storage capacity option of the M2 iPad Pro 12.9-inch.
The Apple Pencil is perfectly designed for an iPad mini! I lost my 11 inch iPad Pro a few month ago, and limited budget made me chose a mini as an alternative. But then I found I’m lov’in it!! I used to use the pro as an alternative choice for MacBook for my classes, taking some notes, and draw some sketches. For me, a pro is like a touchscreen upgraded MacBook, and a mini is like a drawable upgraded iPhone. The using situations are totally different. I love the e-book reading experience with a mini, it’s full color display is so much better than a kindle. Also, I could still draw some stuff and do some design process with it, but it is so much more portable, I can easily take it to any where and draw out my thoughts immediately. Anyway, the iPad mini is the perfect design device for me, It’s like a much lighter and smarter notebook for me🥰
I’m a pilot and the iPad mini has always been useful in the cockpit; this new gen is even sweeter than previous versions. Whether it’s flight planning or going through performance charts and airports’ diagrams, this thing is super helpful.
I loved my iPad mini. It is the in between device of my mobile and laptop. I used it extensively when I travel for leisure. Excellent for reading ebook, emagazines, watch RUclips, surf the net, read emails with attachments etc
I first got a Mini in 2016...loved it to bits! Perfect form factor for me in terms of being an ebook reader, on-the-go media consumption etc. Then in 2020 I traded it in for a 2nd gen 11" iPad Pro and honestly...some days I would love to trade my 11" for the Mini. I just love that form factor and how easy it is to travel with it.
I got my Mini 6 just because of it's size. I can also use the pencil to take a quick note without looking for a pad or piece of paper (which usually gets lost!) - I use Notability and OneNote for notetaking. I stream the news on it and listen to a couple of radio stations thru tunein app also. The iPad Mini6 works for me! I have my PC and Apple laptop for other things. (Personally, I didn't really like working in Notions).
The ESR Hybrid case is what I use for a case. The cover is held on with some magnets, and removed when I want to text a lot on it. My iPad is like a large phone to me, while being an editing device when on location at a shoot. I have no dislikes for this. When I want better, I reach for my 12.9 Pro, and even better, my MBP. For my needs, it’s the perfect device for mobile workflow.
It’s the best media consumption device on the go. It’s also the best “kitchen TV”. Can’t express how many times I’ve had this up with a recipe in the kitchen.
I have an iPad mini 5 and a basic iPad 9th gen. I use the iPad usually as a second screen for work. The mini goes everywhere with me for notes, reading, to do lists, and calendar.
I had a iPad Mini 2 from 2014-2019, replaced it with a standard 9.7" iPad. The thing I miss about it the most is the size for reading, feels so good to read in bed with it. When I replace the 9.7" in a year or so, I will consider the iPad mini.
I love my iPad mini 6.. Especially because I use it with a iPhone 13 mini.. The main setback for the 13mini is the poorer battery life which I now offset because I consume most of my media on the iPad mini.. (5g version obviously because tethering the ipad mini to an iphone 13mini is going to drain the phone battery pretty quickly).
I have stepped away from Mac and decided to not update my MacBook Pro 2019. I have the iPad Pro 12.9 m2 as my daily computer. I have a home setup with a magnetic mount keyboard and trackpad and a 32” monitor. Then when I go to work or school I take the iPad Pro with both the Magic Keyboard folio and normal folio. I use it like a laptop. I also use an mini 6 as a digital notepad, personal organizer and e-reader. In my office or in the common areas at school or doing day to day stuff at home on the couch. I could do all that stuff on the 12.9 iPad Pro but like mentioned it’s a beast to sit down with and hold for any length of time. When truly on the go I will still use my phone but the mini6 fits in that nice little spot from desk/laptop setup of the pro and the ultra portable take a moment and jot down quick reminders and notes of the iPhone. It’s a mettle ground where I can do more in depth, then I do on the iPhone, but less task heavy than I do on the pro. It’s gotten to the point where I haven’t turned on my MacBook Pro since last year pretty much everything I need to do I can get done through one of these two iPads or my phone. Since 90% of people do basic Internet browsing, document creation or communication an iPad pretty much finished those needs. As I said, I do my work, my school in my personal life all through iPads and phones.
Watching this on my Mini 5, which replaced my phone as my main device since 2019. I was excited for the mini 6, but meh for the “updates” and got an iPad Air5 with M1 instead… and yet my 2019 Mini5 still gets more use😂. There’s rumours of a mini 7 next year - perhaps Apple may get my money then if it has a decent refresh rate. I definitely want a mini Pro - wishful thinking.
@Slimy feet I have a phone, it's just not my main device. I only use it when I leave the house. At home, it's the ipad mini always close at hand, my phone forgotten in my bedroom.
I looked at the Mini 6. Then bought a Mini 5 on close out at Best Buy for $200 less. It does everything I need or want it to do. Never regretted my choice.
I had an iPad Air and a iPad Mini 2 (still have them, they are both still useful). But as they both stopped getting updates, I examined how much I used both. I figured that I used the Mini 3x as much as the Air. So I looked at the Mini 6, and then bought a Mini 5 at Best Buy for $299. It does everything I need, and I LIKE the home button! When this finally stops getting updates I’ll probably replace it with another Mini, probably a Mini 10. If Apple is still making them!
Please do the Notion video. I also have an iPad Pro 12.9, the Mini 6, and a MacBook Air M2. Along with iPhone, I’ve got way too much productivity assistance :0. I’m using my iPad mini more for reading and journaling but would like to move my to-dos to Notion.
I also have an iPad Mini 6. It is my favorite iPad. I have a 12.9 M2 Pro as well. It is my primary knowledge capture and reading and note taking device. I am never without it. To tell the truth I answer the phone with it more often than I use the iPhone. I can’t wait for a new version of the iPad mini. Back in the day people used to carry something called a “Commonplace Book.” A commonplace book is a personal compilation of knowledge, ideas, observations, and quotations. It is a notebook or journal where people record and collect information that they find interesting, useful, or inspiring. The concept of a commonplace book dates back several centuries and has been practiced by many notable individuals throughout history, including writers, philosophers, scientists, and thinkers. The iPad mini is my digital version of a commonplace book. I keep mine in a leather book cover that also holds my Apple Pencil. It is perfect for writing down notes while sitting in a dimly lit bar sipping on a nice scotch or chianti. It never runs out of paper. If you get it with WiFi+Cellular, you almost don’t need a phone. Just add a VOIP plan, from Vonage or someone, even SKYPE. I highly recommend the iPad mini.
Yeah a lot of the training I’ve found for it isn’t straight forward either. I use it and definitely like the stuff I’ve managed to do but it gets complicated quick
I've had my iPad Mini for a while now and I love it! Like you, it has replaced my paper journal, my paper planner, and I use it more than my 12.9 inch iPad and my 11 inch iPad. It's the perfect size for me. I also use Notion on it as well. Speaking of Notion of I would like to see a tour of your Notion setup.
@@marcolivresque5300 Lol none taken! I started with the 11inch only and realized I needed more screen space for drawing in Procreate, I passed the 11 inch to my son, and purchased the 12.9 for that purpose, but it feels too big to take notes with, so I ended up getting the mini for notes, planning, work notes etc. It wasn't planned it just sort of happened 🤷🏽♀
I have a 12.9" pro and the latest Mini. OMG The mini is my overall favorite! It's so portable, I take it with me everywhere. I love my pro 12.9 - but it serves a different purpose.
I really hope that the next iPad mini will have a huge display upgrade. OLED. ProMotion or at least 90Hz. And 1,000 nits brightness. That's all. I don't mind if they lower the PPI and if the A15 chip stays. I also hope that the base model starts with a 128GB of storage for the next iPad mini.
The mini is just perfect size. I too had the iPad Pro and it ended up as a second screen. I’ve since given it away. When I bought the mini my life changed. I actually use the tablet. It’s just convenient. Main thing is that my hands don’t get tired while using it. All other tablets necessitated a stand at all times, it was a gimmick. It’s like a magical notebook/book that is nice using all the time. Again reading on any other tablet is a gimmick compared to how natural and pleasurable it is on the mini. It goes well with the iPhone mini funny enough. As it is too small from media consumption. Mind you all iPhones are poor sizes for media consumption. Mini has been my game changer this year!!!! My favorite Apple product atm
The best laptop, is the one you always have with you. It doesn’t matter if you have the 16 MBP or 15” Air or 13” Air. Having the iPad Mini is a device you are more likely to take with you everywhere, and pickup in stead of the 13” Air etc. yes-obviously it has its limitations vs a regular laptop for work flow as well apps, but having a device in this form factor changes everything. I like to write using scrivener, but my busy schedule between family, work, and other obligations doesn’t provide me with much time to sit at a desk with my laptop, and certainly not carry a laptop around with me. I find I get so much more done in terms of writing because I can just whip it out when a thought comes to mind, in leu of waiting until I get back home to my laptop, or get a chance to open my laptop. I use to be the first one to ask why the hell anyone would want a device of this size, but once you integrate it into your life, you soon realize you can maximize the time you can be productive.
I thought if I was so picky bc I felt it needs more brightness…. Now I saw your video and I see it’s not just my opinion… the brightness is the reason I did not buy it … I’m waiting for the new one to see .. I have an iPad Air 5 generation no complaints so far
Absolutely ! You hit all the good points I already have an iPad Pro w/ Magic Keyboard (& love it) & MacBook Pro 16" But the mini 6 fits in its own space. I have to look high & low to notice 60Hz for what I do w/ it. Brightness could be brighter. If my only complaint is the lack of iOS size (fonts) configuration scaling. Many fonts are too tiny to read for the given app & space available. I would like more RAM & storage options and USB4 & Thunderbolt. Or, we should have a Mini Pro option for those needs or wants.
I find myself drawn to the iPad Mini, yet can’t justify buying one. I had an iPad Mini 2 in high school, instead of a phone. Cheaper, didn’t require me to pay for a cell plan, and I had a smart device to take with me wherever I went for one payment of under $200 since it was an outdated model at that point. I loved that thing. Most comfortable gaming and typing experience on a touchscreen I’ve ever had. But as much as I’d love to use an iPad Mini instead of an iPhone, there are some problems with that. Screen brightness is one you brought up. Another is that, while it fit in most of my pockets, it didn’t fit in all of them. It also lacks some basic features a baseline iPhone has - a phone number, Apple Watch support, and some others that I don’t personally care about like full Wallet functionality. And sure, I could use it alongside an iPhone - but carrying two devices around with me would be a little cumbersome. I could manage, I do when I need to with my iPad Air, but if it’s not consistently pocketable then it’s not an everyday carry. I could get one for home use only - but honestly, it being a little nicer for handheld use than my iPad Air M1 doesn’t justify having two tablets floating around. Had I opted for a 12.9in Pro, that option could make sense, but I don’t regret getting the iPad Air because it’s drastically cheaper and easier to pack around. So, here’s hoping that Apple at some point gets into the folding phone market. Would love to see an iPhone that’s 5.3x3.8 inches but unfolds to iPad Mini size, and it’s running an in-between of IOS and iPadOS that’s got the iPad keyboard, dock, splitscreen, and pencil support, but all the iPhone features as well. That’d be my dream device, an iPad Mini as a phone with no compromises. Other than the plastic display I guess, but since it’d be folded unless it was in use I doubt it’d get scratched up TOO badly
@kylecastellino6402 I bought a secondhand Samsung folding phone and then found out I like Android as an OS better than I like IOS anyway Apple being late to the party cost them a customer, it turns out. No hate for the people who like Apple and are happy with their products, but they're not for me anymore
i own a mini6 also , super nice video, and i noticed the same thing, i also have an ipad air4 but i don;t use that anymore.. since the mini6 is much easier to take with me
Insightful. I have had the first Apple mini that I grabbed just before traveling. It has been a very useful companion, along with my iPod. When deciding to go for the first iphone or the ipod touch which was basically the same, I chose to keep my ever lasting phone for calls and to use this mini computer in my pocket. Then came the iPad mini. A joy. Ultra portable. It made me laugh that you complain about its mini features, being spoiled with the highest range in Mac and iPad. I haven't used an iPad since 3/4 years. Went to the Apple store to check out the MacBook air M2 that is more powerful than my old MBP 😂 resting in my drawer. The best computer I need. I saw the iPad Mini 6 and found it too small. The icons are small. I don't know, it is interesting. I should reconnect with it. Had the Sony Z Ultra that is the Samsung S23 a few years ago/bigger! It became my iPad mini. I'll give it an extra shot. While waiting for your Notion video 🎉 I'm going for the Samsung Fold5 and S9 Ultra 14"6. It complements very well my work flow and needs. I will get the next iPhone Ultra that is supposed to be as big as the S23. I like to have Apple/Samsung devices. For different reasons. Have you tried the Fold?
I had it and loved it but as an artist/designer id love to have something more portable and carry less. I might make the switch to android this year if the Pixel Fold has stylus support its gonna make my edc even more minimal and lightweight. also wished apple would let us make the cellular version of the mini able to replace a phone and paired with the Apple Watch
I had 3 generations of the iPad Mini.. You learn to use all the features. It makes sense then... Just to add. It has duel touch ID for either hand. So you don't have to change the position.
@@haboot2752 I love my mini. I would not want a bigger screen. I currently use the regular iphone 14 pro and the pairing is great. I do wish the mini had at least 90hz scrolling but not a big deal. If you're going to use your ipad for more complex tasks and feel like you may need the real estate, then the ipad air is a solid buy with the M1 chip. You get 8gbs of ram where with the mini you only get 4gbs. It is noticeable at times.
Ok it’s Feb 2024. Should I still go for the mini 6 or wait a little longer for the Mini 7. I’ve heard a March launch is nearby for the Mini 7. What do you say?
The ONLY drawback I see is that you won’t be able to get the pro apps when they come out, those are for M1 ipad chips only, 🤞🏽crossing my fingers this summer’s iPad mini 7 sports an m2 or even m1 chip.
Currently using the 5th Gen Mini, and waiting for the 7th before I upgrade. Looking forward to losing the Touch ID (which I never liked), and gaining USB-C, plus whatever else Apple decides to 'give' us. It'll probably be overly expensive for its form factor but - having just upgraded to an iPhone 13 Mini - it's the size that meets my needs. Anything bigger might end up unused in a drawer. Thanks for the content.
I want a ipad mini but I also want the ipad Air. I dont know what to get but im mainly gonna use my ipad for watching anime, travelling and future use educational work do you know what ipad i should get? And also should i get the wifi or wifi + cellular? Me personally I really want the ipad mini for some reason thats what my hearts telling me but I feel like a bigger screen is just more for my needs. But I dont KNOWW i really want the ipad mini.
i think with the size it has, 60 hz is fine with 120 hz it would be amazing. But then again you’re not gonna do anything that demanding in that kind of tablet
Meh I disagree. I use my mini as a textbook or just reading a book. I use my pro for writing or note taking. The mini doesn’t really make sense for anything else other than reading. Replaces the Kindle
What iPad do you own?!
Hi

I dont have an iPad, i have a acer A3-A10 tablet with android 4.4.2 and kernel 3.4.6 😢😢
8th gen. Looking to upgrade to m2 pro 12 base.

King of content consumption. Its just so perfect to watch read stuff on.
The pillow on your couch got you my subscription! 🤣🤣well that and I just got myself an ipad mini...
😂😂😂
Please provide a video on Notion! Would love it! I’m with you on how to use my iPad mini.
Coming soon!
Rumour has this man was last seen 8 months ago. He was apparently silenced for sharing FACTS 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥
@kylecastellino6402 I bought a secondhand Samsung folding phone and then found out I like Android as an OS better than I like IOS anyway
Apple being late to the party cost them a customer, it turns out. No hate for the people who like Apple and are happy with their products, but they're not for me anymore
Folding phones are such a fun concept!! Want to get my hands on some!
i own a mini6 also , super nice video, and i noticed the same thing, i also have an ipad air4 but i don;t use that anymore.. since the mini6 is much easier to take with me
The Notion in iPad mini 6 would be very helpful
@1:44 neat space needle wallpaper photo you have there :)
I dunno why i'm obssed ipadmini 6 even though i don't have it but someday i will buy this sooner or later🙏🙏
I just bought it. Would have been perfect it has led display. Ican ignore it but it is hard because side by side with iPhone you will notice it
I had 3 generations of the iPad Mini.. You learn to use all the features. It makes sense then...
Just to add. It has duel touch ID for either hand. So you don't have to change the position.
Higher nits is a must.
Looking forward to seeing that notion video that you mentioned.
Also, great video this one!
Notion video please I need some ideas
My ipad mini 6 with cellular is my go to. Hopefully yhey make a 7 with 128gb and maybe 6-8gb of ram with m1? Or 2? I would pay a little more for it.
using the mini, do you think the screen is too small? do you regret it, and do you think I should get the ipad air or ipad mini?
@@haboot2752 I love my mini. I would not want a bigger screen. I currently use the regular iphone 14 pro and the pairing is great. I do wish the mini had at least 90hz scrolling but not a big deal. If you're going to use your ipad for more complex tasks and feel like you may need the real estate, then the ipad air is a solid buy with the M1 chip. You get 8gbs of ram where with the mini you only get 4gbs. It is noticeable at times.
M1 iPP 11’.
Thinking about the mini too, though.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts 😊
My pleasure 😊
Thinking about this….how is typing with the pencil there ? Feel like it would get in the way a lot.
It does get in the way a ton!
Ok it’s Feb 2024. Should I still go for the mini 6 or wait a little longer for the Mini 7. I’ve heard a March launch is nearby for the Mini 7. What do you say?
Won’t be much of a change but at this point wait it out!!
Where can I get that wallpaper of Seattle? Looks very nice! 😉👌🏻

@@josephlipsen1 thanks!
iPad mini is best used while relaxing on a couch and watching RUclips or Netflix or reading ebook 😎
I have S6 Lite.I freaking love it.
Is there a plan to put an M3 chip in an iPad mini?
Probably eventually they’ll move the mini over to the Apple silicon chips
The ONLY drawback I see is that you won’t be able to get the pro apps when they come out, those are for M1 ipad chips only, 🤞🏽crossing my fingers this summer’s iPad mini 7 sports an m2 or even m1 chip.
Maybe 2 more years before mini7 is announced
If next gen has M1 and lets you connect it to a screen for Stage Manager that would make me sell my M1 mac for it.
Currently using the 5th Gen Mini, and waiting for the 7th before I upgrade.
Looking forward to losing the Touch ID (which I never liked), and gaining USB-C, plus whatever else Apple decides to 'give' us.
It'll probably be overly expensive for its form factor but - having just upgraded to an iPhone 13
Mini - it's the size that meets my needs. Anything bigger might end up unused in a drawer.
Thanks for the content.
Thanks for watching!!
What bag is that you put the mini into at 1 min 12 seconds? Love it.
It’s the small black satchel bag.
Black Ember Kompak
The office quote 😂
ill wait for them to put oled screen and 120hz promotion in ipad mini i might buy it
Great review! Very informative and helpful!
I'd love a notion video.
0:58 😂😂😂😂 “I always never understood…”! 😂😂😂 Something I’d say too.
😂😂😂

I gave my mini to my husband to watch mlb on it instead of his phone. I got a 12.9 pro.
Hey, what you ended up with buy?
@@malekyounes35 had the mini for a couple months now.
It’s perfect for my 3 years old boy
Lucky you to be able to use an iPad Pro 12,9 as a second screen ‼😲
I just subscribed. Thanx for te content 😊
Thanks for the love!!
low-key more useful than an iPhone in my opinion
Hello, I want to buy this device. Does it run the game without lag and frame drop?

you deserve more subs!

Can it uses an external ssd through the usb c?
Great video. Subscribed :)
Notion video please.
Coming soon!
i think with the size it has, 60 hz is fine with 120 hz it would be amazing. But then again you’re not gonna do anything that demanding in that kind of tablet
Great review!
Glad you enjoyed it
@@josephlipsen1 definitely Sir, you are so amazing!
A video on notion would be great
Coming soon!!
Meh I disagree. I use my mini as a textbook or just reading a book. I use my pro for writing or note taking. The mini doesn’t really make sense for anything else other than reading. Replaces the Kindle
I love iPad mini. no need more than 10 inch iPad. I rather use my Macbook if I need more than 10 inch
Ah yes, us pc gamers know this too well. Once you upgrade the hz, its hard to go back.
