      Well said. I have 2 specific use-cases for mine: mainly reading e-books and digital planning/journaling. (bonus for a little doodling, content consumption, gaming, etc.)
      Can't wait for my Mini to arrive tomorrow. I am "downgrading" from an iPad Pro 11', but I rarely used it because it's just... way too big! I didn't find it pleasant to use while sitting on the couch, in my hammock, or in bed.
      Meanwhile, I was carrying around a thick, A5 discbound notebook for planning & journaling. The form factor of the Mini is going to fit perfectly in my lifestyle -- I'll finally be able to go fully digital without sacrificing the convenience of my tiny notebook.
      I share this because if you're reading this, and this sounds familiar, then this is probably the right iPad for you! Test with an A5 notebook and see how carrying that feels -- it's the perfect digital tool that fits in between my phone and laptop. Big thanks to Everyday Dad for helping me realize this :)

      your absolutly right, I have had my Ipad mini for three months and I knew when I got it exactly what I was going to use it for. I use it to take notes for my engineering classes, and content consumption. It is fast as hell and I can even run some engineering programs like Matlab on it. Its not for everyone but I recommend this or a full sized I pad for engineers. the Battery in this Ipad lasts longer, and sturdier than my $1000 Lenovo IdeaPad. Honestly it is one of my favorite pieces of tech.

    Fantastic breakdown of the mini. I had a much older generation mini that I used the hell out of during all of my business trips, especially international. It was the perfect size for travel. Mine did not work with Apple Pencil which was my major gripe as I wanted to do digital art on the go. My primary uses were watching movies, reading books, reading comic books, and lounge around the house device. I now drag my iPad Pro everywhere including right now with these comments 🤣

    I have a MacBook Air, iPad Pro 11” and just purchased this mini 6 when it first came out. I’ve been utilizing my mini way more than my iPad Pro. When I need something bigger, I find myself reaching for the MacBook Air. So I gave my iPad Pro to my son for college. I’ve had no regrets!

  • @1001nevermore

    I've always loved the iPad mini; I spent a lot of last year before Apple announced the mini 6 trying to decide whether I should keep my mini 5 or get a bigger iPad. I liked the iPad Air/iPad Pro 11-inch, especially with the Magic Keyboard, but I always found it to be a little too small for the computer-y tasks I wanted to use it for and too large for just chilling on the couch watching RUclips or reading a book. Getting the mini 6 was the best choice I made, though, because it gave me an iPad in the form factor I liked while giving it a much-needed design overhaul and more power inside to do all the iPad tasks I could want. It also allowed me to consider the 12.9-inch iPad Pro for more serious tasks with a keyboard, one that I hadn't even considered before because it was way to big for my tablet needs. No, not the cheapest solution, but now my iPad mini 6 and iPad Pro 12.9 work in tandem to give me the best of both worlds that the iPad lives in.

    I have a 2018 12.9 inch iPad Pro but the device I use most often is my iPad mini 6. Why? It’s the perfect size for use as a digital notepad and, since it is pretty much exactly the size of a trade paperback, it’s also the perfect size for use as an eBook reader. It fits into the pocket of my winter parka and in my hip pack. Plus, it enables me to do all the other things an iPad can do-surf the web at a size more functional than my iPhone 12vPro, play the occasional game, listen to audio books, AirPlay music to my HomePods in a manner that enables me to see and interact with my playlists. About the only things my iPad Pro 12.9 inch is better suited for is watching movies and getting me a wireless internet connection on the rare instances when I’m somewhere that doesn’t offer WiFi. And the latter is only because my IPP is a cellular model but my iPad mini 6 is not.

    -better screen. mini-LED with pro motion

    I bought the iPad mini for note taking, especially in church. I was in a dilemma on the iPad Air 4 or mini 6. After almost a month of thinking I went for the mini 6, didn't regret at all. It's the perfect size to take out in my sling bag, and not distractive in solemn events. I had an iPad Air 2 prior to this and yes it was a hassle to bring the device around.

      My mini (5th gen) is my favorite note taking device. It has become my go to for note taking in church too. Occasionally we go to church with my parents, and my mom takes notes on a regular iPad, a couple generations old. It makes a pretty huge difference to have the smaller form factor.

    I'm definitely the right demographic for it. I had the iPad Pro 11" and was looking to do some work on the iPad and see if it could replace my laptop - it couldn't, so I just made a gaming device out of it but despite its power, it was too big to comfortably play games on for hours, so I downgraded and bought the mini 6. It's the perfect device if you're a mobile gamer. Great size and super portable, still absolutely future proof in terms of processing power, and great battery life (easily lasts me one full day and more with heavy gaming). I'm only missing the 120Hz display and extra RAM on the Pro, other than that it's definitely my best buy from 2021.

    Hey Gary great review of the mini. I’ll add my 2 cents to the reason why I wanted one of these for the past couple years. I am a Pastor and have been using an iPad mini 2 then 4 for preaching/teaching from. The mini is the perfect size for me to use in the pulpit or works just as good at a graveside when officiating a funeral, likewise it works wonderful while officiating weddings. When the mini 5 came out I had just got the mini 4, and it didn’t support the Apple Pencil 2, so it wasn’t worth the upgrade… then it was years without an upgrade and I kind of lost hope on a mini 6 (mini pro). When the ipad Air 4 was released I decided to give it a try, it was OK but it was just too large for the above mentioned uses. So when they finally released the mini 6 I preordered it and as soon as it arrived I never touched the Air 4 again - sold it and never looked back. The mini 6 is really the perfect size for my use as a pastor and the Apple Pencil 2 support makes it even better, great for taking notes during business meetings and other meetings. I also use it for some mobile gaming and content consumption. Bottom line it is the ideal size for my use and I would recommend it to anyone with similar usage scenarios like pastors, teachers, etc.

    The iPad Mini 6 is my favorite piece of tech I own. I never really connected with the previous Minis. I think I had a 4 (or 5?) but ended up using that for my DJI Mini 2 drone, so it worked very well for that. But I never used it for anything else. I was happily using an iPad Pro 11” when the Mini was announced. With my work moving more towards various cloud applications and not locally-installed applications, I found myself using my iPad Pro 11” for work quite a bit. So when it came down to deciding to buy the Mini, I knew it couldn’t replace the 11” as my main tablet device as that would be counter-productive. I ended up trading in the 11” Pro for the 12.9” mini-led Pro while also picking up the Mini 6. So now I feel like I have the best of both worlds. Apple Pencil support is an amazing feature. Note taking during meetings, ultra-portable, HUGE display even if it’s just an optical illusion (no Home Button, small bezels, small footprint). Anyway, enough rambling. It’s a fantastic device. I can’t recommend it enough.

    I bought the iPad Mini 6 right before this semester started and knew exactly what I was going to use it for: gaming. However, it's turned out to be a quite versatile little device, as I've found myself using it in addition to gaming to also: take notes, check my assignment due dates, watch RUclips, read, surf the web, and much more. Can you do this all on an iPhone or iPad Air/Pro? Obviously, but those all lack one major thing: the specific size of the iPad Mini. It's so easy to hold at various different angles. It's easy to see what's on the screen regardless of how far away you hold it from yourself (at least for me). If you want it to disappear it very easily does so, as in you can literally fit it into a coat pocket. I can't stress enough how extremely intuitive the size is, it has been one of the best pieces of technology I have ever purchased. Note that this is also the first iPad I have ever owned in my life, so I can't compare it with other iPads according to my own life experience, but I love this thing and don't regret my purchase in the slightest. I was also pretty lucky because I got mine at Target during a 20% off sale which equated to me getting it for only $399.99 instead of the suggested retail of $499.99. I was originally considering getting the 9, but when I saw that sale, I just knew I had to have it, and I can safely say I have no regrets, what an absolute steal!

    I got the mini about 3-4 weeks ago and loving it! Was well aware of the jelly scroll “issue” (literally watched 100+ vids about it prior to buying). It took about 3 days for my eye to actually catch it (intentionally looking for it), and now I do notice it often.
    This may sound crazy, but I’m starting to think of the JS as a cool/neat little feature while scrolling vertically..Most likely me mentally reaching for reasons to like this iPad…but dang I really like this thing!
    My thoughts are that the pros of the mini totally outweigh the cons, and since the jelly scroll doesn’t actually interfere with normal use/tasks…it’s a straight up great buy.
    Feeling really positive about my current Apple Ecosystem: M1 MBA + 12 Mini + IPad Mini 6. All 3 devices serve their specific purposes and none of them fight for my time!
    Great vid as per usual..keep ‘em coming!

      Jordan H. - I'm glad you are really happy with your new iPad Mini 6. I do too want one, but until now I can't get past the jelly scrolling effect. I saw it as soon I went to a store to get one, and I left without one. I used a lot the iPad Mini 5, but I gifted it to my brother.
      As soon as Apple fix this problem (I hope they fix it) I will definitely get one for my self.

    Changing from 12.9 to mini 6. Working good with school work, note , music notation and many thing else. Mini6 is really best choice for people who might need small iPad for their Businese or doing something else, I think.

    I bought the iPad mini after an iPad Pro 11 M1 fell on my head due to its weight. As of now, I'm using it as an ebook reader, a zoom device, and a post-grad notepad with an Apple Pencil and the Good Notes app. I really like the handyness and the way it's portable.

    I’m forever stuck in an iPad dilemma. Had an air 4, then got the new mini when it came out, and LOVED it. Much easier to hold when hanging on the couch, or playing a game. However, as time went on, I missed the ability to use the keyboard folio for actual work/productivity. As of now, i’m back to the air because I can’t justify owning both when they are so similar. If apple or another company could come out with a lightweight/thin expandable-style keyboard folio, id probably go back to the mini. Until then, waiting for apple to release the updated air with a15/new camera already

    • @nickjacobsss
      @nickjacobsss 2 года назад +1

      @Alan Hughes Not the same. It's much more convenient to have it attached, be ultra low profile, and protect your iPad at the same time. Instead of also having to have a case, and carry around a separate keyboard. Kind of defeats the purpose of "mini"

    • @julianacosta5936
      @julianacosta5936 2 года назад +2

      I agree, I think logitech should make their combo keyboard/case that they make for the ipad regular and pro for the mini. The keyboard would have to make large compromises, but for the mini a perfect keyboard isn't super important. And the flexibility of that case would be perfect for the mini. Just snap the keyboard off when you don't need it.

    • @nickjacobsss
      @nickjacobsss 2 года назад

      @Alan Hughes I think you're missing my point. The whole comment was the reason why I'm using the Air over the Mini, even though I like the mini more.
      Mini's purpose is completely defeated if you're going to carry around an entire keyboard to go along with it.
      Air with keyboard folio takes up essentially no extra room in your bag, while also protecting it at the same time, and STILL takes up less room than a mini + standalone keyboard.

    Okay, I’m here to comment on your motto. So having watched your recent videos beginning with iPad Pro 2021 models. The production quality of your videos are consistently very good, expect when you show the ceiling of you studio when you standup. But not biggie. You make your video look effortless in there creation. But having read your Business Insider article and reading how you’ve gone through the process of dialing in what it takes with your time and research effort to gather the correct gear to make your content effortless, while maintaining a high level in quality. That article personifies exactly what your motto states, because of what it took for you to get to where you are with your content for your channel. Not sure if you have, but making a video of what the process you had gone through in getting your YT off and funning to this point and time, and the reason for the choices of gear that you have now to date.

    In a weird way, it’s a perfect iPhone. It has has TouchID, no notch, Pencil Support, USB Type C. Virtually everything we want minus the high refresh rate which a good trade off.

    As a woman who doesn't like to carry around huge bags and doesn't use a backpack on the regular (never really outside of travel) I LOVE the mini. It fits into all but the smallest of my bags and is great to just tuck away in there and pull out on my lunch break at work. I also used to pretty much exclusively use the iPad mini back in my earlier days for the same sort of reasons but it fell out of favour as it got more and more neglected by apple

    For me, the iPad Mini 6 is perfect for what I need it to be: a one handed tablet and an e-reader, as well as a note taking device, since it supports the Pencil 2. I don’t need a tabletop-style iPad Air or Pro, since they’re bulkier for handheld use, and I don’t need a Magic Keyboard, as I have a more capable MacBook Pro 14.

Health care applications, and settings. Workplace application solutions. Works best for people on the move in the workspace.

    I’ve got the cheapest iPhone 12 mini, watch se and iPad 9 4G...
    the iPhone sometimes won’t load games settings or apps store properly until the 2nd update after launch , works very good now on the latest update…😍
    the iPad had a problem where it won’t switch from landscape to portrait mode or just the bottom bar changed to portrait the apps icons and widgets are still on landscape(r the other way round). this problem are gone on the latest update, but just yesterday I can’t swipe my page around or change the landscape/portrait mode after a crash on google chrome(I think it cause the crash because the screen hangs and all tabs are closed when I relaunch the app). It’s working fine after turning off and on the iPad.😂
    The watch works well all the way nothing to complain. Just that I cracked the screen and replace it under AppleCare + with a lower repair cost..😊

    I can not go back to the iPad form factor now that I’ve experienced the Apple Pencil 2, laminated screen, excellent Touch ID. I am a hobby artist and this 6th gen iPad mini is a stretch for my budget. So the 9th gen iPad is more in my price range

    Why I am going to buy the iPad mini in a few months:
    I just got the iPhone mini and it is a great phone but fine for watching the occasional videos.
    The iPad mini provides the best size, imo, for watching videos portably around the house.
    If I want to watch videos on a bigger screen I will always use my desktop computer or TV.
    It is portable for me when I want a larger screen for taking notes or reading a pdf more comfortably rather than on a desktop or iPhone mini screen

    I want to get one to pair with my iPhone se2. It will replace my paper notebook (paired with Apple Pencil), act as an interface to Volumio, and serve as a RUclips screen. Won’t be getting a new phone. Screen real estate at the cost is good. Not too big and not too small. iPhone se is too small for watching video.

    I would buy one, but 64GB is not enough, so I would have to buy 256GB... but, for the almost the same price as Mini 256GB I can buy iPad Pro 11" 128GB with M1 which is much better - conclusion - base Mini should have 128GB...
