The mini 6 replaced my full size ipad, kindle, notebook and in large part my iphone - it's small enough to be a MUCH better typing experience than a full size iPad, it is a wonderful reading experience as it can go super dim at night and it's portable enough to fit in a jacket pocket - I love this thing!

    • @DigiDriftZone
      @DigiDriftZone Год назад +2

@@arvi8843 I find tension on the eyes less with an iPad than with a kindle, it's much higher resolution and can go much dimmer in low light. If I am reading during the day, setting the backlight somewhere in the middle looks very natural, like a quality printed magazine. However I usually read in the evenings with very dim lighting, in which case having the kindle app on the iPad set to yellow text on black background looks very natural, trying to do the same on the kindle looks washed out and too bright.

    • @DigiDriftZone
      @DigiDriftZone Год назад +4

@@arvi8843 I decided to buy a kindle again, not so much for eye strain but rather because I get too easily distracted on the iPad, I've had it a couple of days and I do see the appeal, it really disconnects you from the world :) - but now that I again compare them side by side, there is definitely less eye strain on the Kindle, but for me the iPad doesn't cause me headaches of fatigue so it's a less important benefit.

I've been using mini 6 for over a year and I love it! I take it with me every day to university and it helped me reduce paper usage to almost zero. I don't loose notes anymore and I don't collect tons of dusty old printouts. the size is perfect, it fits in my smallest bag and its so light yet pretty powerful. I highly recommend it to any student out there!

It's a convenient size to take with me when compared to the iPad Air I had before. It's also a comfortable size for gaming on, and I love it for watching RUclips, and playing workout videos. Like you I have access to the entire range of iPads for software development and testing. I struggle to find where the iPad fits into my personal workflow with how good and light the M series of MacBooks are. The iPad Mini does offer a good amount of flexibility and now that I am traveling constantly again, I just take my iPad mini for entertainment (movies, tv, book consumption) and my MacBook or Surface device depending on the client. It offers just enough and it fits in everything. Really great device.

I bought an iPad mini about a month ago, with the idea of accompanying/supplementing my 12.9” iPad Pro-the 2nd gen from 2017. I thought of the mini as being a way of getting into some of the more recent iPad features without spending too much. Oh. My. Goodness, is this thing awesome! Yes, it serves as a great little sidekick to my 12.9, which I still use when I need the big screen… but this mini increasingly my go-to device for most everything else! I use it for videos/TV watching, light email, and even recording audio since the USB-C lets me easily plug in an audio interface. It’s just-right size is absolutely perfect for note taking, lesson planning (I work in higher ed), and all kinds of other stuff. I’m doing more universal control stuff as well via my MacBook, and it’s all smooth as butter. Really loving this thing!

It's my first iPad so I'm biased in that regard but the iPad Mini 6 is just absolutely wonderful. It's got everything I need it to and the amount I read now, either comics or books has increased massively.
There's nothing major they need to do to improve the device itself because it's a general use device and has no reason to reach over into other device's niches because it has its own as a regular day to day device.
Did I pay a lot for what is now essentially a reading device? Absolutely. Would I do it again? Probably yes but until this is no longer supported by Apple, I have no reason to not keep using it. It's got a perfect form factor and the screen is really good for what I need it for. I don't care about jelly screen at all because I don't often see that.

I LOVE my iPad Mini 6. I originally got it for taking with me on long motorcycle trips to watch videos and upload photos, but it quickly turned into part of my everyday carry items. It's my digital planner, note-taker, and preferred device for reading books on Apple Books or Kindle or just scrolling social media. As for updates, I do agree that better battery life would be nice, but I don't really miss not having a stage manager on the mini, and not having face recognition isn't a biggie either for me. I also have the iPad Air, and it's my device for heavier tasks, but honestly, if the task is too heavy for the mini, it usually ends up being something I go to my Macbook for anyway. I'm glad to hear you've come to love the mini, it's a great device, and whenever Apple does decide to upgrade it I'm sure I'll be upgrading mine, but in the meantime, it's working just perfect for what I bought it for. I do wish I'd purchased the model with cell service instead of wifi only, but even that's not been much of a hindrance to me as I have my phone for a hotspot on the rare occasions when there is no wifi available.

I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max. I had the iPad Pro 12.9 for my daily driver for a few years. I found myself using it less and less as the days went by. It was becoming a $1,200 paper weight in my desk, and I hated that. My wife, who is a digital artist had a really old iPad Air that she did all of her art with, and it was in horrible shape. So I said screw it. I gave her my iPad Pro, and I went to go buy the Mini 6th gen. I was really nervous of the form factor at first. It was incredibly small. But it grew on me. The more I found myself using it, the more I fell in love with the device.
This was about a month ago, and I haven’t left my house without it, or gone a day without using it.
I’ve been leaving my phone at home more often, and only taking my Mini and my Apple Watch Ultra for cellular use. I've been using my iPad as a little travel sketchbook, a kindle, a web browser, media consumption, game player, etc. And the best part? It can all fit in my pants pocket, or a small bag. It's such an incredible piece of tech, and I have zero regrets of buying one in 2023. I will only own a Mini iPad from here on out.
Currently watching on my iPad Mini 6.

I felt as though if I was carrying a device of that size (10-12 in) I would rather just take my MBA. I realized I just wanted something small, portable and only for casual use. It is my primary knowledge capture and reading, and note-taking device. I am never without it. To tell the truth, I answer the phone with it more often than I use the iPhone. I can’t wait for a new version of the iPad mini.
Back in the day, people used to carry something called a “Commonplace Book.” A commonplace book is a personal compilation of knowledge, ideas, observations, and quotations. It is a notebook or journal where people record and collect information that they find interesting, useful, or inspiring. The concept of a commonplace book dates back several centuries and has been practiced by many notable individuals throughout history, including writers, philosophers, scientists, and thinkers.
The iPad mini is my digital version of a commonplace book.
I keep mine in a leather book cover that also holds my Apple Pencil. It is perfect for writing down notes while sitting in a dimly lit bar sipping on a nice scotch or chianti. It never runs out of paper.
If you get it with WiFi+Cellular, you almost don’t need a phone. Just add a VOIP plan from Vonage or someone, even SKYPE.
I highly recommend the iPad mini.

I love the iPad mini for these reasons you did not mention.
    - it is the form factor size I think a true tablet should be. It’s not massively cumbersome and it’s not trying to compete with my laptop. I don’t have to feel like I’m carrying textbooks in my backpack with the two of them together.
    - it is still a larger and better experience than my phone which doesn’t have the capabilities of iPadOS. Also I don’t like to have to deal with fumbling with a large brick in one hand with a phone that large or sacrifice both hands to use a phone.
    - it has all of the features a tablet should need. The features you mentioned on the iPad pros are EXTREMELY niche and I highly doubt they’re used by anyone else. And not to mention many of those features are already done better on a laptop.

I LOVE my Mini 6. I’ve heard it described as a “Swiss Army Knife” in a number of reviews, and I have to agree. I can leave my phone in the other room for a while and know I have everything I need on just that one device to make progress with my art, writing, and lesson planning.
I use it for my day planner, non-distracting communication, music and books libraries, story development, digital notebooks, teaching apps, a sketchbook, and social media management. I use it in the classroom on a regular basis for teaching, and it’s light to carry while being easy to mirror to the TV so the whole class can see it. I can scan students’ work on the fly and give rapid feedback on things they’ve got questions about by drawing over the scan.
It also fits into bags any other size iPad wouldn’t, so it can go with me pretty much anywhere. Yep! Had it a while now, and am extremely happy with it.

I have this iPad and a 12.9 iPad Pro. I do most of my photo editing and video editing on my pro. But I grab this iPad mini most of the time. It’s my go to for most things. I take this iPad 9 out of 10 times before I take my iPad Pro anywhere. I’ve had it for about a year now.

Only thing I need is better battery life. It doesn’t last a work day of use on a single charge. And I don’t expect it to.
I think that would be an improvement every user would enjoy.

It’s a little sketchbook for me. Once I hit the layer limit in procreate, I’ll air drop it on the pro and continue there. The RAM as you said is the bottle neck, but to be fair the mini is not an all in one pro machine. It’s too small. And I find it too small for some of my animation apps.
But the iPad Pro is too big to always be with me everywhere I go. So having two iPads is just the better way to go.
The Jelly scrolling isn’t bad, but honestly it’s more visible than the refresh rate. If the people on RUclips weren’t whining about it all the time I would. Them exaggerating the situation kinda made me think it’s not THAT bad.

I got this iPad mini and i liked it but I didn’t keep it due to the lack of Face ID. It also needs a brighter screen and long battery life. If they fix those issues, I would buy it again.

For me, I don't use it as something to edit with, but I do use it for music work, such as a metronome, teaching music, remote control to help control audio related apps on my computer, like making headphone mixes, and control digital mixers via WiFi. I also started reading more through the mini. Having the mini is more than enough for me. I did have the mini 3 for the longest time, but there are apps that I needed for work that needed iOS 14 or above to work. Not only that, it was also three generations behind. When I tried to transfer from iPad to iPad, it was too outdated to let me transfer, so I transferred from my phone LOL.

I have the iPad mini 6, 11" Pro and 12.9" Pro. What I find is that I take the mini with me into the office 2 times a week. It does all I need it to do for that. The Pro's are a bit too heavy although the 11' is not too bad. I agree with your comments re the battery on the mini and have had to start taking in a charger to the office. Btw, do you use a case on your mini? Or screen protector? Thanks

My company's currently in the process of transitioning to remote management of all personal devices which utilize company resources, and so my iPad is about to lose access to all that stuff (because you can RMM my personal stuff approximately never). I'm seriously considering getting an iPad mini for mostly note taking purposes and keeping it separate from my personal accounts, just because I know I'm going to miss taking notes on my iPad so much. It seems such a great device for that stuff.

After buying my macbook air m1 (5k reais) I gave up on the idea of spending more than 5k Reais (more than 1200 USD) to buy the ipad mini 64gb. I won't spend this money to take notes, I can do that on a paper haha and with the mac air being so lightweight, is very handy to use. Perhaps if in Brazil the apple products wasn't so freaking expensive I could try one of those.
Great review tho. The quality of your videos is amazing. Keep it up!

Two months ago, when I saw the popularity videos coming out, I was able to buy a "nice" used iPad mini 6 with a cracked screen for about $200. A glass screen protector 'fixed' the crack issue... Seems like everyone want one now, and I don't think you can find one for less than $350! I have a full sized iPad that I never use, an iMac desktop that is my main machine, and a nice MacBook for portability, when needed. But, along with the pen, I love the mini for mobile content consumption, much more convenient than my iPhone. Everything ties to gather nicely. My biggest complaint is that it is difficult to know all the capabilities of the entire ecosystem, and even most of the books don't provide the full reference needed for the mini.
I hope that Apple realizes what they've unleashed in the iPad mini 6. I think they are overpriced, new. But, if Apple could figure out how to price them at $200, I think they would have a blockbuster that would still be profitable.

I love the mini. Ihave an 11" pro, so I will grab a mini when they do the next update. Not that the current model is bad, it's not. I just wanna wait and see what they do to the next model. M2 and thunderbolt? We'll see.... But anyone on the fence about buying the current model, do it. it is fantastic.

My message will sound critical but it is mostly kind.
I'm sure you are honest but I'm amused that all the tech sites seem to be discovering the value of the iPad mini only in 2023.
I can even tell you that everything that is discovered with the ipad mini 6 was already true with the previous models.
No doubt that tech sites should really remember that by being omnubilated by performance and novelty, they forget the uses of real people.
You (tech reviewers) don't use products for months or years, you don't know what it's like to use products over time. You are in the idea of more=better and you only value oversized and expensive products.
I am a user of an iphone 13 mini because I hate big smartphones. Before, for 6 years, I had a 2016 SE. And I have an iPad Mini as a supplement. I think these two products are the best from Apple. And I could add the SE 2022 so hated by tech reviewers.
Products are tools that should serve a purpose, not "spec lists" where the average is always denigrated.
