    Billy Stewart was an underrated artist who's music was great, but his recognition is still unheard. There are a lot of artists who been in show business for many years and still haven't received the props they deserve.

    A friend of mine had Billy play his high school dance in North Carolina in 1969. Billy had two acts, one was a "blue" act for adults lonely. However, Hambone, his keyboards player, decided to start telling the dirty joke which caused the teens to flip out and principal rush the stage. What a night !

He remains at the pinnacle of Soul Music. And in my mind, his only equal was Walter Jackson. Thanks for article. He does deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

    Thanks for this video. Mr. Billy Stewart should be in the RRHOF for sure. Thanks also for mentioning the fact that Billy's music is beloved in the Chicano community. I have him on all my playlists. I first heard his version of the old standard "Summertime" when I was a little boy, my mom had it on an album. Everybody needs to hear his version of "Over the Rainbow", it is, in my opinion, the best version ever produced.

  • @gerarpope6581
    @gerarpope6581 Год назад +7

    Oh wow, some time ago I asked my pops about the "I do love you," joint. I was familiar with G.Q's version that was put out when I was a kid. I would hear Billy's version much later into my young adult years, yet I was so impressed. I still loved G.Q.'s version but the original by Billy had it's own unique feel to it that I appreciated even more. I know that R&B music in 1965 when it was released had a lot of other nice joint out including, "My Girl" by the Temptations. Yet my pops confirmed that "I do love you," was indeed a staple on radio stations and at house parties back then. Of course I would realize that G.Q. also did nice rendition of another Billy Stewart song as well (Sitting in the Park). I hated to hear of the tragedy that struck him and others at the end. Yet his music will continue to play on. Much respect!

    Hi🙂👋. I've never heard of Billy Stewart either. Need to check him out.👌.I don't believe the Big Bopper is in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame either.🤔. Sad how they omit some. Did you hear Otis Redding the third passed. My sister sent me a text yesterday. He had cancer, he was only 59. Being the son of Otis Redding Jr. Should had more mention. Today I heard. His Funeral will be Private. He did follow in his Fathers footsteps. I'm sure Mrs Velma Redding is Heart Broken. To lose Big O and now her Son that she named after her husband. This is just a notice to pay Respect to both Father and Son. Since I too was born in Macon Georgia. Otis Redding Jr. Or the Big O he was called. Sad. I don't mean to be Disrespectful. But Everybody knows Otis Redding Jr. His music still being played. He's one of Macons Son. We all Remember Big O Died in the plane crash. Since you mentioned him here. I just thought I'd Mention his Sons passing. RIP to Otis Redding Jr and Otis Redding the third.🕊🕯🦋🌠🌻✨💖💖🌹🌹💐💐.🙏🙏. Also Giving some Respect to Billy Stewart. 🕊🕯🦋🌠🌻✨💖🌹💐🙏. You do a Wonderful Job of telling us about Amazing Artist, Mention those who have Passed. I never Heard of him. I plan to Check out Billy Stewart and his music.👍. Thank you.
