    Billy Stewart’s music is timeless. Few artists could compare to his unique style or interpretation . 55 years later and I Do Love You is still being heard on oldie radio shows. We will see you Billy, somewhere over the rainbow.

    What a wonderful documentary. I loved Billy's music so much growing up--he touched my heart deeply with his yearning and desire for love (Cross my heart, Strange feeling). I could relate to what he was feeling and that eased my loneliness (Sitting in the park, I do love you.) His music was and still is so comforting to feel in my heart to this day. Billy was truly a gift from God, and we are the recipients of that blessing.

    First of all I would like to say that this is one of the best documentaries I have ever witness! It's very detailed and we'll plan because you don't leave the watcher guessing with questions .... It's obvious that you dug deep for information and history. Billy Stewart voice is so unique ,but I always wondered who help him with his background vocals and now I know that he worked with the best! For the viewers check out a song name" O'l Man River by Billy

Never knew all his history, only his great music and death, which hurt us all. I appreciate this two part docu on him, with folkloric connections to many other greats we know and love. Thanks to the esteemed Chancellor of all that is soulful-Bro. Boone! You still have facts on top of facts-I never thought nothing could top reading your artist profiles on the Soul Patrol-but these audio versions of real music history is something indeed. I would like to mention the arranger on some of Mr. Stewart's Chess gems- Mr. Phil Wright-who is addition to having made history with all the classic recordings he had a hand in at Chess, remains also a GREAT pianist. I have his most recent trio recording from a few years ago with Henry "The Skipper" Franklin on bass & Donald Dean on drums. Pick it up if you get a chance. Thanks again for giving it up for one of the GREATEST vocalists ever(....and I know and already starting to hum that definitive version of the song you speak of briefly at that cliffhanger ending in part 1!). Thanks again for sharing your great R & B knowledge with the world!

    • @richardsoffice9176
      @richardsoffice9176 6 лет назад +2

      I well understand you. I'd like a couple of hours re: Bo Diddley (who also had a big impact on Billy's career. Look carefully & you'll see 'Ellas McDaniel' Orch Under The Direction of, under the title, "Baby You're My Only Love." But the producers of the movie have a couple of hours, to tell the story they want to tell, and we are all blessed by the great number of talented artists who recorded there, at Chess. This movie is a wonderful tribute to Etta James, and went into marvelous detail regarding Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf. Howlin' Wolf toured with the English rock groups in England, in the mid 60's, and they praised him very much, something I don't recall the American groups doing. Mike's tribute to Billy is wonderful and detailed. Why don't we produce something? Don't just put it on someone else! One of my very favorite Chess releases is "Selfish One" by Jackie Ross. I purchased her compilation on C D to acquire the best sound. I never become tired of this! But the best tribute we can hope for, is a presentation by Mike. Full length movies are expensive to produce. Would enough people pay to see a movie on Billy Stewart? People want to see drama, and there WAS a lot of drama in Etta James' like!

    I'm curious to the source for the background singers mentioned in the video for Sitting in the Park & I Do Love You. Billy's brother Johny Stewart, my ex & music partner, said he recorded the background on those 2 songs. I never doubted it as it's clearly his raspier yet identical voice to Billy's. If the album liner notes doesn't recognize Johnny, then shame on them.

Strange Feeling is almost always cut at the end on many releases, including the "greatest hits" albums. Touring always paid the bills better than royalties. Once upon a time it was mostly cash from the box office, and often unrecorded. Now, with that method of operation a lot of people could be (and were) cheated too, but compared to royalties, it was gold for those who knew how to work it.
