    Thank you for your honest reaction to information you received from the local. You saved many who would only learn about it after they purchased their”dream condo”. Don’t forget the dangerous sting rays and rip tide which explains the empty beach. I heard this from another video. It could be a good fit for some but deserted beach’s is a deal breaker.

      You're welcome. We want to warn folks but only few listen. Yes, the rip tides are so bad in some places in Panama, you can't even go in up to you knees, you can feel the tide pulling you out. Thanks for watching and sharing. Take care.

    I am an Expat Canadian living outside of Colon Panama. I agree, always be respectful with the local folks and it will be repaid to you 100 fold. I have many Panamanian friends and work associates and the vast majority are fine people. I am the only white guy around the area were I live with my wife and son and we are accepted by the community. Panama is a different country during the day as well as during the night. But the police are everywhere and patrol constantly. You give respect you get it back. If any one has further questions about Panama always willing to help.

    I've lived in Panama for 10 yrs.. 9 in Coronado, single blonde expat, I'm always on the beach and travel, walk, drive.. really I am all over the place on my own.. , never had an issue. Very safe area in my opinion! Sure, things happen occasionally, as they do all over the world .I have also travelled all over the world and feel safer here than most places.

    Yes, because in the US there is no crime and poverty...so naturally we're sensitive to it when we're traveling.

    That's sad. It wasn't like that when I lived there...much safer in the 80's. Spent many weekends as a teen at Coronado Beach.

    Frank, I hate to say it, but though the videos you make can be informative and give a perspective not often heard on the majority of videos, I feel you always focus on the negitive, and hardly ever on any positive aspects of your topic. Some may like that you point out the cons, but I feel a more balanced approach would be more appealing. I have a hard time listening to your opinion, because I know it will be a negitive take on the subject.

      Your opinion is well taken, appreciate you would take the time to share this. However, the first statement you mentioned above says it all..."information and perspective not often heard on the majority of videos," ////// Where is their balance? The majority of videos provide the postcard and we give reality. Thanks for sharing. blessings and peace.

    Who is this man? Been living here for 10 years, never had a problem. Anywhere in the world you need to keep your wits about you and realize that you will be PERCEIVED as the RICH guy, so... Panamanians are great and we love it here.

      I have also lived in Panama for about 10 years. I spent 5 years in Chiriqui. In that time there were more home invasions targeting foreigners than I can count. It was a common thing. I would also say that I have no memory of any home invasion being thoroughly investigated and perpetrators being caught and jailed - EVER. I do remember hearing about a burglar suing a family because he was attacked and bit by the guard dog (when he was trying to burglarize someone). I don't remember if anything came of that. Anyway, I highly doubt many of these types of crimes get recorded on site that compare the crime statistics of countries. This often happens in areas that have a lot of retirees who look like they have money, and who don't speak Spanish well. I've seen this in Coronado too. So, foreigners who have money move to gated communities or get greater home security (walls, barbed wire, dogs, guns). But they are often targets in the street. Would I go walking around in beach or mountain towns at night? No. Any foreigner who says otherwise, just hasn't been around very long.
      Other foreigners reduce some risk by purposely living economically, learning Spanish, and getting to know their neighbors very well. However, at the end of the day, you just have to accept that fact that you are still different. After 10, 20, or more years - even after becoming a citizen, a person is still made to feel like a foreigner. Panama is a beautiful place to live, but if a person is considering relocating, it is good to understand the challenges from the beginning. It is not an immigration melting pot like the US.
      Back to personal safety - We now live in Colon, and feel safer walking around than I did when I was in Chiriqui. Interestingly, tour guides will steer tourists away from Colon. It is rather shocking to see all the litter and what looks like poverty in some parts of the province. But the people of Colon are rather comfortable around foreigners - perhaps due to the American influence in the Canal zone (the same can be said of the Panama City side). There may be crime here, but we have never felt like targets because of being foreigners (like in Chiriqui). People in Colon resent the fact that others do not have nice things to say about their province. And they are very welcoming towards people who give Colon a chance.

    Good tip. We have to remember though that crime is everywhere ( so to speak) its just good to know that we shouldn't be naive and fail to do our home work and try to understand where we are going. Some of the greatest resorts are in "third world countries" that have some level of crime and poverty. Important thing is if we are going to invest or go vacationing we have to do a lot of research. Its great that you were able to speak to locals and put this out....BUT people should not be SPOOKED by this type of thing they should just BE INFORMED.

    What is your agenda?

    • @HMFamilyLife
      @HMFamilyLife  4 года назад

      Our agenda is and always has been to allow people to see both sides. There is always another side to the story. The only story people get is the side that makes them "feel" warm and fuzzy. Now, you can see the other side and do what you like with it, at least we told you. Have a great day!
