    The “Dry Arc” area (Coronado) has some of the most beautiful weather in Costal Central America due to the limited rainfall. Knowing what time of the year it’s going to rain, makes a Golfer’s or any outdoors paradise.✌️

    Hi Dan, thanks for the accurate description of Coronado, costs and its lifestyle . Coronado is definitely not for young and cheap people , but you have to keep in mind the 1h distance to the city, the security and the 25% Jubilado discount you get everywhere (for airfare tickets , restaurants , cinemas , doctors appointment etc) so this makes Panama one of the most attractive areas in Latin America. My apt is 680 US D/month on longterm rent . Also you are not honest with the cost of food . Whenever I see your videos you are eating !! You have still your Highschool weight and I am 30% overweight ?! Really strange this issue . LOL. Take care and all the best for your future travel. Matt

    Looks inviting and yet the ex-pat's house in Coronado had bars on his patio and his windows even though he lives in a gated community. That's a little concerning about his level of need for precautions. You show Qiang eating all the time. I don't believe that's actually her. She can't possibly eat that much and stay that slim! :) lol Appreciate all the good info!!

      Not to worry, it's a common thing now but bare in mind much of that is a carry-over legacy from when not too long ago, in 1989, the U.S. invaded and occupied Panama in order to nab General Noriega "Dead or Alive" and then left the country in absolute mayhem and anarchy immediately afterwards. But, as you can see, Panama has done unfathomably well pulling itself up from its own bootstraps afterwards despite that set-back. And that was without having received restitution. And even during the years immediately after the bombing, invasion and occupation, the types of crimes tended to be petty theft and robberies but not homicidal or things of that nature. Basically it was anything that wasn't hunkered down. Because in the year and an half preceding that act of war, the U.S. had frozen Panama's assets, placed an embargo and blockade which hurt the people more than it did the general it was trying to oust. I might add, it was a general it had created and recruited into the CIA as far back as the early 1960 (back when he was a Cadette at a military academy!) imagine! And even worse for Panama, little did Panama know that it had a plant in its midst throughout the majority of those years as the U.S. helped the general rise through the ranks until he became "Our Man in Panama" as pappy Bush would refer to him when he was head of the CIA. So, matters do become quite complex. And the intent prior to the U.S. - Panama conflict was to attempt to instigate in the Panamanians a desire to violently revolt against the monster the U.S. had created, which had then gone renegade and afoul of U.S. interests. But U.S. Intelligence and the State Department were sorely disappointed when, unlike the model which the U.S. had established in Nicaragua with the Contras, regular everyday Panamanians would simply not take arms, and instead would do all this peaceful protesting and waving of white handkerchiefs and banging of pots and pans. So, the U.S. decided to take matters into its own hands, damned be any U.N. resolutions of Geneva Conventions.
      But Panamanians are of the type that we let bygones be bygones, for we also know full well that whatever the U.S. Government does with its foreign policy 99% of the time does not reflect the will of 99% of its people. So, yo'll find that Panamanians show an appreciation for Americans and in people in general, despite the shenanigans perpetrated by the U.S. government in the region. We are able to compartmentalise that. But, that's when I saw a dramatic upswing in the steel bars on windows, as that scar has remained with us as legacy baggage of our more trying times. But, you will find yourself feeling 100X safer there than in many U.S. neighbourhoods in places such as Camden, Detroit, parts of Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Denver, San Francisco, New York City, Atlanta, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Seattle, etc., which may contain no bars. Bars also create a barrier for animals for rooms which can be left open most days and during most part of the day throughout the year to let the breeze go in and out. In the U.S. people have to worry about stuff like winter, for example.
      Anyhoo, there's a part of history which people prefer to leave out and to some they would prefer to keep it in the waste bin of history. But it is also important to understand historical contexts and what subjects are still a bit raw and sensitive, despite Panama enjoying amongst the highest happiness indices in the world.
      Panama will still welcome you with open arms as it does not view you as a person, as an individual, or even as part of a group of people, as the cause of the moment in its history. The real problem was born of an handful of people. Th real problem is still an handful of people. Their focus of attention just happens to be elsewhere geographically, right now. ;D

    You did a terrible job of researching. 14:35 - there is no Domino's Pizza in the Super99 plaza. Yes, there is a sign. No, you cannot buy pizza there. The Domino's Pizza location where you can buy pizza is located 1 mile east of the Coronado Mall on the other side of the highway at the strip mall with Doit Center. There are 4 main supermarkets in Coronado. Riba Smith is about 200 yards west of Super99 on the other side of the highway and Machetazo is located on the other side of the highway across from Rey on the back side of what is called "The Village." You should mention that each of the SuperMarkets have limited selection compared to stores from same chain in Panama City. Super99 Coronado sells meats which are brown and gray on the bottom side, and they cut their steaks too thin. Riba Smith is absolutely tiny, but they the only one where I have found spinach. You pretty much have to visit at least 3 of the 4 stores to get most of the things on a balanced food shopping list.

    How much is health insurance?

    • @VagabondAwake
      @VagabondAwake  2 года назад

      Great question ste B, I have one report where I explain what I do about health care and another where I show you how I search for health insurance.
      What I do about health care: vagabondbuddha.com/two-biggest-risks-of-retiring-early-overseas/
      Report where I search for health insurance: vagabondbuddha.com/best-health-insurance-for-ex-pats-in-philippines/
      By the way, once you search for health care you will start seeing more offers for health insurance and travelers insurance when you are online. Health insurance is one of the most dynamic or changing industries in the travel world because so many people around the world are deciding to live or retire outside their home country. So do a search every year before you renew to make sure you have the best available for your personal circumstances because new ones come out every few months. Thanks for asking so I could answer this for many people! Dan
