In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

Normally when Greg says something along the lines of "this show will ruin your professional reputation" I don't give it much thought. But then when a grown man in a suit takes off his pants, picks up an egg with his mouth, and carries it in that manner whilst crawling on his hands and knees towards an egg cup, I start to see where Greg is coming from
On concrete none the less. And not smooth concrete either, gravely concrete. Adrian's knees probably looked like hamburger meat by the end of that task. I mean, I got tattooed on my knees and I don't think that hurt as much as Adrian crawling on rough concrete bare skin knees

"Can you?! Oh this is fun!" Extroverts are naturally some of the best contestants as well as "beginners" who are still figuring out "the rules". I just wish they would have shown us every second of them doing the vinegar.

Such a shame she was only in this one episode. It would be so wonderful to watch her be Claudia Winkleman across an entire series.

Clearly, Jonnie has watched the show. The egg was over the top complicated, the vinegar had to have a clue somewhere, and the pole either had to be the longest or the shortest possible.
Also the look he gave Alex when he said "That's one way of doing it" with the ph strip. He immediately knew that there was another method to find out. I so wish he was on for a whole season, he would have been fun to watch.
He really gives off the vibe of a superfan through and through, and going forward it would be interesting to see them cast more fans of the show into the lineup
The protagonist we need, but not the one we deserve
It's a shame we didn't get him in the live show, he seems like a really interesting addition to the group (though seeing Alan again was also nice, like finding one person you already know at a stranger's party)

Him being a returning competitor on a one off really gave him a confidence he wouldn't have dared to have on his own series
The way Alan hilariously mocked Claudia's egg task makes me think he would be a great Taskmaster.

I always was hoping to see Claudia in a regular season as a contestant...one episode is not enough for her crazyness to unfold fully.
I would love to see her in a full series as well but she's a very busy person so this is a good compromise - and she really was hilarious!
Same. She had been at the top of my wish-list for this show forever. As soon as I saw her, I was cheering for a split second and then immediately sad that this meant we'd never get to see a full season of her. But what we got was amazing :)
She's like a challenged toddler, not enjoyable to watch at all.

for me, most of them were fine as a 1 off but i'd not have had a problem if it was a full series either i'm sure. the ideal would be cherry picking from last year and this years 1 off episodes
Most of the times I can get over my notions I had about contestants, because ultimately it doesn't matter whether they produced bad music or are unfunny on-stage comedians, as long as they deliver good content while on the show, but a rich Tory who as a politician is responsible for so much evil and who can't stop her "woe is me, my family was so poor, my father was only a millionaire" propaganda act, can rightly F off. Idiotic right-wingers like to whine about some bias in the BBC against them, yet the BBC always gives horrible people a platform to humanize them which later on allows them to cause human suffering.
After Jonny was so brilliant.... he spills the drink and I was just reminded of just how AWESOME THIS BLOODY SHOW IS.

I haven't laughed like this in month. First the... messy looking heads that Alan and Lady Leshurr made, which already had me giggling (and I dare say Greg's mind went to a similar questionable place, judging by his reaction) and then that perfect line. I was howling.
I don't know why, but "For the rest of the day you shouted at me", said in that very slightly reproachful way, felt like the most Taskmaster line ever.
When Leshurr said "spin it like a beyblade" I instantly knew I'd like her.
Her vision was beyblade, she actually got closer to a beywheel, but I respect it
the mere opening credits say it all; four contestants majestically striding out of colored smoke! ....and then there's Claudia Winkleman, huffing and puffing 💚
I think Alex's new years resolution was to become infinitely more sassy

Claudia is accidentally hilarious on every panel show I've seen her on, which makes me think it's not accidental at all.

There are 216 shot glasses. Each shot can hold roughly 40ml, and they are about 2/3s full, so let's assume there are 25 ml of liquid in each glass.
That all adds up to 5.4 litres of liquid.

One of the best Taskmaster episodes ever if not simply the best. All the contestants were absolutely fun to watch, it's a shame we only get one episode of this cast. And the tasks were absolute classic too! Honestly, the whole experience of this episode is gold, I had absolutely smashing time watching it - that was a treat indeed!
Johnny Peacock is an incredible Taskmaster contestant. Absolutely brilliant. All of them would be great in a full series but Johnny Peacock is the only one I feel robbed for not seeing in Series 13
Lady Leshur's infectious giddiness and wonder, Jonnie's high octane above-and-beyond approach, Sayeeda's insightful trivia and challenging banter, Claudia's irritation and chemistry with Alex, Adrian's strange and delicate demeanor. Not having this for a full series was a crime

Adrian is the first person during the whole show that won a trophy sitting on the left chair. Of curse it’s only one episode but still he’s the first to do that.

Outstandingly high quality tasks on this one. All hit and no miss.
Drink all the vinegar is one of the best non-puzzle tasks on TM. The core is a simple but good idea. The setting is visually pleasing (compared to "the tangerine in socks" or the "burst the balloons"). It has red herrings (drink *ALL* the vinegar, and the indicator paper), it has the "answer was always there" twist. The contestants have great misses (almost feels like scripted) and nice wins. And the editing work is outstanding: with the 3-D glasses or when the vinegar spills.
there was never a bigger gap between how funny i expected the final task to be and how funny it actually was.
I hoped to see Claudia for an entire season.
It's the way she gets all giddy while trying to justify herself.
Having Claudia here is ablessing, however now I am sad she probably might not appear in a full season.
Also flipping off Alex was just so good

I'd be more underwhelmed by Series 13 after watching this, wouldn't I? Puttiing the lowest expectation so I'd enjoy it a bit more.
But the contestants in this episode's just set the bar so high.
From all the people to be asked to step in for one, Alan Davis is the best. From all the groups so far they are one of the best. Hopefully we will see more of them in other series.

It was lovely to watch Lady Leshurr going through tasks, she has a great vibe.
Its a shame that this cast was only for a special because holy shit I laughed sooo hard during this episode. I would love them to do a full season.
Claudia would be the absolute chaos maker and arguer,
Jonnie would be the brains, which is always fun to see,
Adrian the representative of the "older generation" Greg loves so much,
Lady Leshurr brings the youthful energy,
And Sayeeda the sophisticated bumbler for lack of a better term.
Damn, I feel so bad for Jonnie Peacock! Actually getting the egg in the cup but then having it break, finding the vinegar but then spilling it, doing the tasks but then not being able to do the studio. I wish he could get another chance, judging by him and Mo Farah athletes seem to be a great fit for the show.
Athletes being good isn't exactly shocking. We've seen many a comedian who are surprisingly good at feats of athletics so why wouldn't some of the athletes be surprisingly good at being funny.
It the same rational as having the classically smart character a season usually has like Victoria Coren Mitchell - you wouldn't generally describe her as a comedian, but she was hilarious.
Oh how I'd love Claudia as a permanent contestant in this show! What a woman she is. Loved her ever since seeing her on Would I Lie To You.

I love when Alex said "no... i didnt want her to die." So matter of factly. Sounds like hyperbole. But the reality is that something as innocuous as chugging water can kill you and he is thinking about these things to keep contestants safe at all times. What a mensch. 😊

This episode has incredible tasks, and captured that brilliant variety show energy in a way no other recent TV has. even though it's not a variety show! the live task was incredible
Sadly they cut the ad-break welcomes by Alex, but during the vinegar part, there was even a clue of " 85 " in there as well, as he waved, the word TASKMASTER was written as TASKM85TER !!! Brilliant!

i'm always really conflicted with these 1 offs or 2 or 3 episode specials , on one side i really like Taskmaster so the more the merrier , but it always leaves me sad because is not a full season with those particular contestants

Not knowing any of them, and solely off of their looks and professions, I wasn't that excited about Adrian...until that first task. So great to see the ones who actually get into the Taskmaster spirit, dignity be damned :D
