despite not being someone who watches murder mysterys etc thoroughly enjoyed it, nice mix of comedy and drama and the leads are excellent. I agree that extending the episodes to allow the weekly plot to breath more might be a good idea.
I loved this series. It was a nice bit of fluff to make you smile. You had to suspend credulity, that absolutely none of his co-workers realised he wasn't who he was, (spoiler alert), apart from the villain. I hope it returns for a second series.
I feel it is the right length, 2 hour detective shows on itv, like Vera, have a lot of filler scenes and tend to drag, without adverts they are 1 hour 30 minutes long. The murder case of each episode is just there for him to solve, rather than for us to puzzle over, so I feel they spend just enough time on each one. 3 episodes watched, so far, watching 1 a day, and they keep getting better, I hope the last 3 are as good.
I liked it and I did actually solve 4 out of the 6 with the clues given, so I think they did give enough but I agree they could have revealed more. Such as in the school episode playing the message so we could solve that.
I don’t think the character are that similar at all. Mark is definitely a much more pathetic, kinda grotesque character. When i first watched peep show I loved him and wanted to protect him, but watching it now, he does some pretty horrific things for his own gains. He’s a twisted guy. Ludwig definitely never lowers himself to that level.
I can't help thinking it would have been better if it wasn't a detective he was assuming the identity of, as any other work environment people he worked with may be less observant simply because that is not the primary role of their job.
Probably not... there's another fellow that had the same name that's fairly popular as well. German composer chap, had a thing for long walks in the moonlight.
Well my mate told me about this series and he's Latvian and his mum is German and called it "Lud wig" and I had to explain that's not how it's pronounced
I liked the first episode. The rest were just repeats of the same story. I like david Mitchell but he and the story wasn’t strong enough to sustain a full series
I have loved it and am watching it again with my wife. YES to a second series please
There is no mistaking David Mitchell's acting range... he can do repressed and posh or posh and repressed equally well!
I am hooked. This is an awesome show. Bravo David Mitchell 👏
Absolutely brilliant. As another comment my husband and I watched THEN watched it again. Wonderful television.
Brilliant, binged on this series. David playing David - nice!
Maxwell Martin, not the other way round, though I am glad that you enjoyed it, as I did too, very much.
It's like if Monk and Columbo had an English baby.
Just finished watching it here in NZ it is so well done looking forward to series 2
Thanks for a thoughtful and informative review.
I'm looking forward to watching it.

Excellent casting on the guy who plays the brother of "Ludwig", he really looks similar to David Mitchell.
😂

@@sueshortall1617 I think you have got the nail on the head
Loved it - want more
David Mitchell entertains me, and Ludwig is no different. I look forward to a second season.
Really surprised at how good an actor David Mitchell is. Ep 5 especially.

I'm assuming you've finished them by now, but if not, you're in for a treat - episodes 4-6 are by far the best in my opinion
@alexanderbrown8498 I'm up to two
Really enjoyed, don’t like crime drama with unremitting grimness
I’m loving it……………..

Crimes remind of Johnathan creek tv show crimes happen with no explanation
I am thoroughly enjoying it, although I'd make a terrible detective. 👍👍👌👌😁😁
I liked it. You have to ignore the unreal policing and the Poirotesque killers round the table nonsense, though. Haha
Silly but fun
Anna MAXWELL MARTIN - at least get her name right….she’s a pretty well known and respected actress👍
She's excellent in everything. Motherland and brilliant in Line of Duty.
Ha ha. I typed my comment before I'd heard it on the video

If you have to preface dweeb with British, do you really need the 'dweeb'? Just curious as a speaker of American.
A show with a title guaranteed to mispronounced by young people and Americans.
Lol Lood vig

Has potential. Shame it's a complete and utter woke-fest.
How?
It is beause they can't understand it and they have no clue what woke actually means. It is not insulting gays or women so it must be bad.
Your name says it all: moody mick . You should get out more and stop looking for things that aren't there.
I mean, any show that has any non-white or non-straight characters must be woke.
Read the room mate.

Oh no. I saw one and was looking forward to the rest. I'll probably still watch them all though
