I’ve been playing metal guitar for many years now, I have even got my own music on Spotify but I still love coming back to the basics and seeing what else I can learn. Doesn’t matter how good you get in your guitar career, coming back to the basic lessons is always a great idea for improving .
Man I literally just bought my first guitar and amp today and it feels so overwhelming. Seeing this video and how basic yet metal sounding these are and how you break it down is very refreshing. I’ve got a little confidence now.
I've been looking what seems like days to find a video like this. I'm pretty much a beginner again and I just wanted to learn something basic to keep my confidence up while I learn theory. Thank you, this helps a lot!!!!!!!
@@mattnobrega6621 Hah, I remember learning this, I even have a clip of me playing it really badly. It was like my first month of playing. Remember to record yourself, it's a lot of fun to look back as you progress.
I’m just beginning to play guitar I like this lesson because I can actually do it and it keeps me interested in playing I have a lot of friends that play guitar that want to teach me but it always winds up me chugging on the E string and my buddies showing off what they can do and I will learn absolutely nothing besides my buddies are bad ass at the guitar LOL
In that first example, you're not only dampening with your the heel of your right hand but you're also muting the E string with the ring finger of your left hand. It's worth noting that you get a better "silence" when you mute with coordinated movements of both hands rather than relying on just one hand to do the mute, especially on something as simple as this pattern.
Do you have any tips or techniques to stop the pick getting stuck randomly on the strings when galloping or any other fast picking without using a paper thin pick?
I tend to angle the pick a bit when playing so it can cut through the strings. If your pick is perpendicular or flush to the string, it can kind of 'stick' to the strings. That's been my experience, anyway.
Im 40 years old and i am just beginning metal guitar. I tried to follow along on my guitar(tuned in drop D) my coordination is off and my wrist and fingers are a bit sore from holding the power chord shape. Its like learning a new language. 😫

and i think that is a really good thing!
Thanks so much.

I've always been strumming incorrect now that is the hardest part for me to learn 😫

Im listening to the second one right now, very megadeth so far lol

much easier with hard pick after you get used to it...EVH used metal picks

It'll take at least a year to get fully comfortable. And music is indeed another language.
hey man, do you like the Halcyon?.. is it a good guitar?
It's a fantastic guitar.
First rythm is much similar to Symphony of destruction....great lesson btw....thanks...
I thought the exact same thing. Kinda weird that I was playing that right before watching the video. Conspiracy lol
Nobody is claiming first today
Good stuff too. First pattern uses a lot of off beat playing and dissonance. Really gives a metal feel
I like ex.2
Very Megadeth-ish
The first one too. Reminds me of Symphony of Destruction.
