Right now my neighborhood where my family once dwelled before the reservations is being gentrified. I’m trying to stop it and take control of it with an all Native American panel.

    Pitty Thomas was killed off. I think it would have been interesting if it was discovered that Thomas Rainwater was a descendant of Sam from 1883 after YellowHair (Elsa Dutton) disappeared from the Cherokee Tribe. Maybe Sam blamed James for not knowing what happened to Elisa. John and Thomas discovering their connection would have been interesting to watch!!

    Thomas Rainwater is a great neighbor. The Duttons in the other hand aren't. John Dutton is so stubborn that he doesn't realize this just yet. Why can't he just play nice lol .

    Possession is meaningless under the law. One of those shocking things people learn the first year of law school. The only concept that comes close is "bona fire purchaser for value"...in certain circumstances innocent purchasers who had no part in theft or fraud, etc, have a right to keep something, and the original owner must seek recompense from the wrongdoer who stole the item(s) rather than get their return. Public policy wants people to have faith that their purchases will be honored... But it's not the possession that confers any rights, it's the purchase--open, trusting, fair, between people who have no knowledge of the dirty deeds involved in its procurement....if the item was taken back from them, people/purchasers would not trust these transactions (such as public auctions). It's generally stuff that's easily priced so money is a good equal replacement...
    I don't know of anywhere possession alone confers any rights to continued ownership of personal property that's proven to belong to another. Imagine the theft we'd see if possession alone gave one a right to continued possession. The mob would set up all sorts of new businesses. Stores and malls would take on new roles...no one would pay for anything. Thieves would try, at least, to make a claim to keep stuff they stole. Violence could be commonplace. People would hotwire your car in the grocery store parking lot and drive away--after all, they'd have it, you'd just be a person trying to take the car away. Public Policy has to keep the peace. Western jurisprudence. I wonder how real Native American justice actually treated these circumstances.

    It’s kinda fucked because John and Thomas are the same animal they want the same thing for nearly similar reasons Thomas just has the high ground because the Native American people will always be right until all there land is back, but they should team up properly and make a compromise Thomas protects him spiritually and let him have half the land back? Even mo my second or draw favourite with rip says they should share and he is essentially the keeper of black rock reservation, wait until he finds out that a Lakota man literally gave the land to johns great grandfather and said our people will try take it in 7 generation which is after kayce who will give it back I may be wrong I’m Australian but all my love and heart goes to all Native American and all indigenous people we need you back on the reigns we are losing the Mother Earth we all come from 😢

    I think Kevin Costner has really improved when it comes to his film and television projects that concern Indigenous people. Dances With Wolves may have been shot beautifully, had a great cast, and had a memorable soundtrack - but it was insulting towards Indigenous communities. Dances With Wolves was about a white man teaching Sioux how to hunt buffalo - something they did in real life. A critic once referred to Dances With Wolves as a love letter to the Sioux which is just salt in the wound. It seems Indigenous people gave him another chance, though, and I think (minus the casting of Kelsey Asbille) Yellowstone has shown that Kevin Costner became more knowledgeable and respectful of Indigenous people. He went from writing himself as a white savior to being an ally...............and Indigenous people gave him a second chance and let him grow.

      It was indigenous people that did have roles in Dances with wolves though.Floyd Red Crow Westerman,Wes Studi,Tantoo Cardinal just to name a few.They couldn't have been to damn insulted,they played their roles very well & so did the rest of the cast.Im sure they took the whole script home& read it before they accepted their roles.

      @sadem1045 Год назад +1

      @@krististratton7263 I understand that they went along with the script but that did not make the criticism of the film any less valid. I've since learned that Dances with Wolves was more positively received by Indigenous people than I thought before though. Anyway, the Indigenous actors who were in the animated Pocahontas films went along with the script, too, but that did not make Disney's version of Matoaka's life any less problematic. Dances With Wolves was flawed because 1.) It's a white savior film and there were concerns that it used a "noble savage" character type, 2.) The portrayal of the Sioux language was inaccurate, 3.) Some Indigenous people were unhappy with the scene where Dunbar appears to be teaching the tribe how to hunt buffalo, and 4.) the Pawnee were portrayed in a negative and not very accurate light. A lot of Native Americans actually did approve of the film and some Lakota Sioux even held a ceremony in honor of Kevin Costner but the criticism is just as valid as the support. Oh, and about Roseanne, you made a mistake using her as an example since what she said about Ms. Obama was not from a script - it came straight from her own racist mindset.
