I was watching so many other coaches and all of them gave advice that were very extreme towards just being a cold fish and losing all emotions towards her like it's nothing. But you, goddamn! My gf asked for space last week. Didn’t come home haven’t heard from her. Relationship 7 years my girl was stressing out on work but I didn’t see that signs we didn’t really spend that quality time as I was content and comfortable with our everyday. I began to feel some distant form this last year and ask her what’s wrong and she hit me with it SPACE!! Hurts but listen you’ll get threw it I did! Happier then ever made us both stronger together. Today was a tough day because I thought about potentially loosing out on a future I had envision for us but I don’t want that fear to consume so I’m just staying strong and continue doing what I’m doing and focusing better myself and in the long run what ever happens I’ll be a better perison

My girlfriend said she needed a break to find herself and needed space. I knew I needed help with pst traumas in my life and sought counseling for that. She didn’t agree at first but finally understood where I was coming from with it. She said she needs a break but texts me every day and then if I delay in texting her back or I read the text and don’t reply she gets angry with me like I’m trying to play a game which I’m not doing at all. I am simply busy. Like she wants the break but wants me there at all times when she needs. You touched on it with the manipulation topic in this video and it was great by asking a question about how it makes her feel. I am going to try this and hopefully it works

Hey man, your videos are very helpful. My wife left 28 days and ago. She wanted space because she wasn’t happy. We got together 9 days later and she was wanting a divorce. I panicked. I talked with her the next day when my emotions weren’t being overwhelmed. She says she is emotionally disconnected. We get dinner every now and then but it’s like we are just friends. We text almost daily. How should I proceed without pushing her away? Thanks for everything.
Don’t text or call her. Let her be the first one. Ignore her a few times… tell her you going out and that you “might” meet up with someone. She will go crazy !
Not sure I’d agree with the non being a cold fish part, here’s why:
- show enthousiasm when she reaches out: she’s actually reaching because you didn’t. she’s wondering what’s up with u. If u instantly show enthusiasm it will just confirm that u were waiting for her to come back. So ur still given, ur not a challenge anymore. Im not saying that u should be an asshole but u should answer in a simple, polite, positive and concise way. She needs to feel that u are pulling away and that she has to work her ass for u to come back, otherwise she will leave again
- get a meeting schedule: she’s reaching and as soon as she comes back u show interest and a need to see her. She needs to feel that u are moving on, that she’s losing u, otherwise she will leave again. All in all, SHE has to take the initiative to at least put forward the idea of a meeting.
Also when it comes to leaving doors open. Even though u should not be a cold fish and not answer to her or being rude or anything, if u leave door open she will sense why ur doing this. Ur doing it because u want to move forward with her and ur implicitly inviting her to come to u. She has to feel that u don’t really care anymore and that u will just take what she has to offer but ur not giving anything. Why ? because u already made a lot of effort and this is actually probably why she pulled away, because u were to present and showing to much interest and neediness

I've heard that if they keep texting you and not letting you go it's a kind of attraction not love they have for you, which means they want you by their side but not as a partner, if they love you then they would either let you go or accept you

My partner she moved out, we were dating for 6 months and followed by living together for another 6 months. She moved out because she says she needs space and time for herself and be alone with her 2 daughters, and to process previous relationship breakup. (she was with a guy who gave her 0 attention) First she talked about needing space by going back to live seperatly, but a few days later she changed her mind and said she wants to end the relationship, because our situation; 4 kids under one roof which is too overwhelming for her, dissagreements on the education of the kids (hers and mine) and having different visions on many things. Even though that she feels love for me, and said that i am the best boyfriend ever who treated her like nobody ever did ... It's been 2 weeks now. In the beginning I was all over her texting and trying to lure her back in to persuade her. Now after seeing your videos I am giving her space and haven't talked to her in about 2 days, which is killing me ... Is there hope? Or do i need to let her go and burry my feelings for her?
My gf has done the same exact thing , except I exploded on mine and called her some names I didn’t mean . My grandma had just died the day before and all of my emotions were all over and well I guess I was hurt because she wasn’t there for me when I needed her to be . Since she told me she wants space she has talked to me and wants a friendship but wants the space to work on herself as well . She replaced a bad relationship with a good one where I gave her everything she ever wanted, but didnt feel what she was supposed to feel. She didnt love me, and it took her a damn year to figure that out. She totally destroyed me and the worst thing is that I actually love her to death
@@ackeb Maybe she was conditioned, by her parents' behavior, to only be in bad relationships with emotionally distant/unavailable men. That was her meaning of 'love'. So when a good guy actually comes along, she feels something's off/isn't worthy of being treated well, and therefore sabotages or opts out entirely of the relationship.

Hey Geoffrey, what if the tables are turned and I have been the one initiating contact after giving her space and she has since then met another guy? We have been texting each other back and forth but she is really cold and I think she might be afraid to tell me to stop even though I have said to her that she can do that any time she wants. I try to communicate my changes and providing her with safety but its not ideal by any means. It’s really the only medium available for communication at this point. How can I show my changes if I can’t meet up with her since she is saying “it’s not a good idea”. I’ve watched all your content back and forth but this seems to be the missing puzzle piece I can’t get right. Showing and asking questions through text seems to only scare her away really. Keep pushing all the good work!
You have pointed out and explained multiple mistakes that i have been making for years in my relationship. Being in sales, I have also looked for the "why" someone is doing something. after watching this i realize that i need to look into myself more, and "why" i do certain things. such as, come up with a quick response rather than slow down and process. Since I am in sales, my phone is my lifeline, and my wife knows that. If I dont respond to her within minutes, she gets upset and thinks there is a problem, or i am angry at her. She knows I always have my phone close by. Great advice on only allowing a few "windows" in the day to communicate with my spouse, rather than immediately responding to her.

Only reason why is because i am trying to leave the ball in her court by letting her invite me. Havent heard from her in 3-4 days. Still holding on to hope. Thanks for the advice.
Thank you so much, this seems to beexactly like what is happening to me. And thankfully I think I handeled it well. I said I understand she wants a break, and that I should also take some space and get myself in order. Then I said I'm always here if she needs something. So I didn't react too badly, and I left the door open in a supportive way.
Since then she has texted me stuff and asked me if I want to join some exercise thing on wednesday.

My girlfriend has given me no reason to not trust her but I’ve questioned her of cheating multiple times and it’s because of my insecurities. She has now said she wants to take a break so that I can focus on fixing these issues of my own but is ok with texting good morning and good night texts. She also has told me that we aren’t broken up and this isn’t for her to find someone else or sleep around etc. I don’t know how long this break will be but I want to work on my insecurities and trust

What if I text my work while she’s at work asking how her day is and I’m getting the “it’s fine I guess” or “it’s whatever” responses. Basically the opposite of this video is happening to me to where she isn’t texting openly unless it’s about our children. She opened up to me last night while picking up the kids. We talked for about an hour and she says if anything was to ever come back it probably won’t be anytime soon. We have civil conversations and even have laughs about certain things outside of our children face to face however over text it’s a totally different ball game

Love the communication content you put out here. One question is regarding my partner wanting space and a break because of 2 past relationships trauma as they are affecting how she connects and disconnects with me and needs time to work on herself, but still sends texts messages that are usually media links. It's been about 1 month and a bit now that I have been giving her this space, as well as these texts with random texts that say she hopes I am doing well. Can I ask her to go out for some food, a walk and connect, even if it is just as friends? It will be hard for me as I miss her dearly and we both agree there is something different about our connection and that she wished we had met before these last 2 that have caused her a lot of damage. The break that is needed is not related to me, she keeps telling me it is not me and that she needs to heal and work on herself and has a lot going on in her head with her past that she is still needing to deal with. Sounds like a game of manipulation, my woman always from time to time mentions I need my one hour of space before I go to work and I don't see her again until late in the evening and we only have a short hour or so together until the weekend it's a repetitive situation but yet she continues reaching out to me for attention even though she wants the space

Hey Geoffrey! My (LDR) girl is going through a tuff time, which is effecting her interaction with me. Hi Geoffrey, im going through this right now and its tearing me apart. I need help...i have so many questions. I hope you see this.
My GF of 1.5 yrs asked for space a month ago. She had a death in the family & runs 2 businesses plus raising a family. She feels conflicted bcuz we've had several fights lately, mainly bcuz I was being needy & not being understanding of her issues, which pushed her further. So I backed off & gave her her space (we are long distance but I can easily visit at any time). She's told me the issues she doesn't like, such as me reacting badly to things sometimes to certain things, & that it adds to the stress she already has. I dont bother her, no calls no texts. She sends me a selfie every few days, & I respond kindly (no cold fish), nice to hear from you I hope you're doing ok are my replies. Her replies are usually 2 or 3 words, then I dont hear from her again for several days until she sends another selfie. Obviously this is a good sign, but so damn confusing, & if I reply asking to see one another my gut says she is not ready for that. Sooo wtf, any advice it appreciated
